This place is fabulous! Service was warm, friendly and efficient. Food was really great. You get a huge bowl of salad included with meals that has meats cheese olives etc. it's great. Portions are ample and reasonably priced. Had the cream puff for dessert- it's huge and definitely shareable-- honestly the best I've ever had. I'm from California and am in town visiting some family. As my last big dinner before I leave I wanted some good Italian food. This was a great place to come to! I had the lasagna platter. It comes with a piece of lasagna and your choice of 2 kinds of pasta. (I chose the cheese Ravioli and penne pasta). Absolutely delicious! Oh, and the salad was great too. What a great place. If you love something local, warm, and friendly, this is definitely your place. I was seated at the bar and felt like it was the perfect place from me. Everyone was very friendly, attentive, definitely enjoyed working here. To have the owner/chef (Bob) walk out of the kitchen to chat with the customers is a touch you just don't see every day. The staff is really friendly. I was a little disappointed the food didn't have more flavor. The chicken Alfredo was ok but bland and the same with the steak. They have a sweet house dressing which I loved but my husband didn't. I will probably give it another chance because everyone else has left great reviews. read more

Uncle Primo's, what an excellent little find. I only knew of the place from remembering my uncle speaking of it years ago. I was in the mood for somewhere I'd never been, and this place was always in the back of my mind. I hadn't made it yet, since it was about 40 minutes from home. You don't normally drive 40 minutes out of the way unless it's a damn good restaurant. Luckily I had nothing else going on, so we gave it a whirl. I'm very, very glad we did. Upon arrival, it's a bit strange. One of those old places in the 50's that was changed from a residential to a restaurant. Like, it looks more like a two story home than place to eat. The parking is also a bit tricky as there is a very small, gravel lot. Once you clear these two small hurdles it's smooth sailing. Called for a 7pm reservation, seated quickly upon arrival. It was packed. Good sign. Once seated we had a quick look at the menu and made our choices. At our table we ordered the braised pork belly as an appetizer ($6.95). As a true foodie, I appreciate pork belly. It's not on many menus, so I was excited when I saw it. Came out with a crispy skin, and perfectly cooked meat. You could tell it was covered in fat drippings. Not the least bit healthy, but sinfully delicious. Came drizzled with a tangy mustard sauce. Overall an excellent starter. And at just $6.95 it was a deal. Between the four of us, we ordered a 12oz ribeye, creamy and mild scallops (x2), and hand made crab cakes. Prior to the meals arriving we got an endless family style salad to share. It came with a lovely house Italian dressing. Tangy, tart and sweet. Salad came packed with pepperoni, olives and peppercini among the normal salad fixings. We got regular bread, as well as some garlic bread ($3.50 up charge). The bread was fairly pedestrian, and the garlic bread was just ok. Probably the "worst" part of the meal, if you wanna call it that. But again, if the bread is the least memorable part of a meal, that's a good thing! The 12oz ribeye ($19.99) was probably closer to 14 or 16oz. That's always a pleasant surprise versus being too small. The cut of meat was better than average, but not the best I've ever had. However, the way it was prepared, tenderized, and especially marinated; made it one of the better steaks I've tried in years. Medium came out medium, which is always nice. The linguine was good as well, a nice compliment to the meat. The mild and creamy scallops ($17.99) came out piping hot, covered in a cream, and topped with several cheeses and seasonings. There were at least 6-8 large, fresh scallops. Cooked spot on, and the cream and cheese paired wonderfully. Baked potato with one, veggies with the other. Both were what you'd expect as a quality side item. An excellent seafood dish in the middle of an Ohio summer. Last, we had the crab cakes ($17.99). There are two kinds of crab cakes in the Midwest. Ones that are 85% breading and 15% imitation crab; and then ones that use a quality panko/breadcrumb mixture and use ACTUAL lump crab meat. This dish was certainly the latter. The meal came with three cakes which were huge, and prepared perfectly. They were complimented with a citrus aioli of some sort, which was a nice addition to the cakes. Baked potato was no muss, no fuss. The gentleman who delivered the food to the table turned out to be the owner Bob. He was very outgoing and sincere, and gave us a short history of the place and ownership. He was also gracious enough to comp us one of their cream puff pastry desserts. We were going to order one anyways, so the fact we had one gifted to us from the owner was a sweet touch on a savory evening. The puff, like the rest of the meal, was fabulous. Overall this was an excellent culinary experience at an outstanding price point. Add in friendly service, and an awesome owner, and you've got a five star experience in my book. We will certainly be back, and I'll happily suggest Uncle Primo's to anyone. read more

My parents took us here for dinner when we were visiting, and I'm so glad they did. The salad was the best thing I've ever had! I'm not sure what kind of dressing they had, but it was so good! I had the weekend special, which was a seafood Alfredo. It was delicious and had a HUGE variety of seafood (5-6 different things!) my dad had the ribeye-incredible, and boyfriend had crab cakes-to die for. It honestly was all amazing. Wife and I traveled to New Philadelphia yesterday evening to dine at Uncle Primo's and were very pleased with what we found. Yes the facility is in an area where you wouldn't expect to fine such a business, the building is not pleasant to look at, and you will park on a gravel lot but it's inside where we found a very pleasing experience. We arrived at the business about 20 minutes before our reservation time but were immediately seated. We did not order an appetizer as we had read where meal portions were fairly large. We ordered the Eggplant Parmesan with a side of Spaghetti and the Lasagna. The meal came with a table salad and Italian bread. The wife ordered the garlic bread which was extra and we split a cream puff desert. How did we rate the meal? The eggplant Parmesan gets a 5, the spaghetti a 4, the lasagna a 3, the salad (dressing) a 5, the garlic bread a 2, the Italian bread a 4 and the cream puff a 5+. Our overall ratings: Food gets a 4+, the service a 5+, the facility a 3, the value a 5. We give the cream puff an extra consideration of a 5+. Our overall experience rating of Uncle Primo's is a 5. Tonight was our first time visiting and I guarantee that we will be back. This little neighborhood gem is amazing! Our appetizers of calamari. Crab cakes, mozzarella sticks. And crusted parmesan sticks were wonderful. My strip steak was blackened and medium rare and completely melted in my mouth!!! My husband had the filet and it was perfect! The other dishes at our table of lasagne and chicken alfredo were wonderful. Our server was Danielle and she was incredible. She was waiting on over 40 customers at one time, our table alone had 18, with a smile and her face and a pep in her step. The variety of desserts is welcoming to all pallets. Scallops & shrimp served over linguine supposedly served in butter & garlic sauce, turned out to be some kind of soy infused salt lick. Lose the fancy dancy edible flowers and frills and make it affordable. For $20, I would have expected more. Understandably the restaurant's tight quarters means more traffic, but quite frankly my wife quit counting after the bus boy passed for the 30th time. Absolutely loved the house salad. Almost like an antipasto served family style. Needed reservations as it was very busy!! My lasagne was tasty and a good sauce! Waitress was kind enough to take back our entrees as they were served at the same time as the salad She brought them back when we were ready for them and they were nice and hot. Would have been a five star but we were pretty well ignored after that, and given our check with no one asking if we wanted dessert or our coffee topped off. Will go back for the salad !!! read more

We ate there 19 days ago, but I am updating my review after getting a complaint (from the restaurant) that it wasn't positive. I found the complaint funny & odd, considering my review was just 1 word long: "Disappointing". So here's a few more details: Diasappointing food to say the least. Shocked it gets such rave reviews. Considering there's not much competition in the area, maybe that's why. My hubby said JNG had better spaghetti. My stuffed pepper was gross. That's the purpose of Yelp, if we only ever posted positive experiences, we wouldn't be protected from the mediocre or downright bad. Checked Yelp as we neared New Philadelphia and found this Restarunt highly rated and not far from 77. We were seated right away and our server wasn't far behind. I had the New York Strip and baked potato. The wife had the Lasagna. My steak was over cooked and for a Marinated steak somewhat bland but the baked potato was hot with a capital H. That I enjoyed because luke warm just doesn't cut it. The wife thoroughly enjoyed the lasagna. I should mention that a good salad was served first with fresh bread. The owner stoped buy our table and I did inform him about the steak and he did say I should have sent it back. I didn't feel it was all that bad and that is why I didn't. The seating is close but not uncomfortably. Over all this visit is an 8/10 and I would stop again. read more

We ate there this past Saturday, and was really disappointed. The salad arrived in a metal mixing bowl, and was not good. The phone was placed by the entrance and rang every few minutes and answered by a loud talker. It was highly irritating and the "fine dining" was more like loud ringing. We both ordered the Salmon, and mine was raw in the thickest part. When I mentioned it to the waiter, I was told it was my fault because "unless specified the salmong is cooked medium/rare." It was more like mostly raw. The baked potato was also not done. So my advice - there is probably better "fine dining" at the local Texas Roadhouse! read more

We were looking for a new place to eat at in New Philadelphia. Found this restaurant on yelp and I had awesome reviews so we decided to try. It! We are so glad we did the three of us all got something different to eat and it was all excellent. I called A few days before hand to make reservations and I'm glad I did because they were pretty busy (on a Saturday night) we got seated immediately. The waitress was super friendly and so was the rest of the staff. They did a great job of cleaning off our plates when finished as soon as we were done. The big bowl of salad was great with meat and both green and black olives! :) We tried both the white bread and garlic bread and both were yummy! I had the lasagna trio with spaghetti and linguine with meatball and sausage. It was AMAZING! My husband got the strip steak with a side of linguine with shrimp. My friend got the blackened mahi-mahi (a huge meaty piece) and baked potato. We had to try the sangria when we saw the table next to us get one. It was so refreshing!! Filled with fruit but wasn't too sweet. Perfectly done! Then my husband had to try a cream puff and holy cow that was amazing! I had a couple of bites and wanted to keep eating! But my meal was too big and I couldn't eat anymore or I would've ordered my own!! We will definitely be back!!! read more
