First time here. The menu is all over the place. I'm not even sure what the theme of this place is supposed to be. This place would be well-served to pick a culinary lane and focus on being great at that. The food was fine, but pricy. Unfortunately, the service is really poorly organized and spotty. Lucky to have you this family run place if you feel welcome as soon as you get there. The chef has some of the most tasty combinations I've ever had. My plan my next two visits when I'm there. I said St. Patrick's Day and the Guinness creme brulee is something I've never imagined before the Guinness said it's a nice caramelly buttery, creamy underlayer that gives us dessert thumbs up from me. The bread pudding was awesome as was the chocolate melting cake, a very decadent dark chocolate. read more

This was our first time here and it's a cute spot with a fairly good amount of seating and a bar. So the three stars really could be a 2 1/2 for the service and the food is about a 3 . We were sitting at our table for about 10 minutes before the manager Kathleen ( I think that was her name) came over and asked if we had a server come to our table yet. She took our drink order and our food order. Then our actual server came over five or so minutes after the manager had already taken the order she apologized for not coming over . By that time is was too late . The manager brought my gumbo over which was pretty good (tad salty but tasty) . My husband ordered mushroom Swiss burger which was pretty good but a tad dry and the burger wasn't in one piece on the Kaiser roll so started breaking apart when you bit into the burger we needed ketchup and no one seemed to come check on us after our food arrived so my husband walked up to the front and grabbed one . I ordered the Classic BLT( FYI has chipotle Mayo which gave it a spicy bite ) . Served with homemade chips . I also ordered the truffle Parmesan fries which could have used more truffle and would probably be best with more grated Parmesan and less of the shaved . We were on the last few bites of our food before our waitress came to check on us. The manager Kathleen checked on the customers frequently and helped everyone out cleaning up tables to keep the flow going !! I give her praise for helping the staff out that's a great quality in a manager instead of some who stand around telling staff what needs to get done . I decided to give the bread pudding a try and I had to say it was pretty tasty could use a little more caramel . I placed an order for the IL caprese longwich with fried chicken to go . Although the sandwich was pretty dig I was little disappointed at the fact I came home and saw one chicken strip on each side of the sandwich. The sandwich itself is $15 and if you want grilled or fried chicken it's an extra $5 . All in all the food was pretty good but the service could use some work . read more

Last night my husband and I dropped by for our second visit to Uncle Tank's. My husband used to come by all the time when it was O'Brien's, so we weren't sure what to expect the first time but we were pleasantly surprised. On our second visit, we were curious if they'd be able to keep up the momentum that the started with, but we were thoroughly impressed our second time around. Our server greeted us and took our drink orders right away. We started off with the Mamma Mia sausage dip appetizer. This appetizer was certainly what I expected and we were very happy with it. It was a bit salty, but not to the point that it ruined the dish. Next, my husband ordered one of the longwiches and fries and I ordered the Somerset House Salad and added crispy pork. I wasn't sure if my salad would be filling enough, but surprisingly it actually was! The pork was basically pulled pork on top of the salad and it was super tasty. My husband enjoyed his sandwich as well. After, we went to the bar for a nightcap and we were greeted by two extremely friendly bartenders who offered suggestions and details on the drink specials. We went with their bourbon smash feathering Eric LeGrande's bourbon and we both agreed that it was one of the best drinks we'd had in quite some time. We will definitely be back to Uncle Tank's and we are already planning on potentially coming here for football season! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the food at this place. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food was tasty and service was great. We got the jerk chicken skewers to start and the chicken was super flavorful. 10/10 recommend the watermelon salad (forget the exact name) but it was tasty and fresh. We also ordered the old bay fries and their thin crust pizza which were also very good. I will be back to try other items. read more

We stopped here after a paintball birthday nearby. I googled restaurants Uncle Tank's was the 4th option on the list after looking at the menu and seeing 4.6 stars on google I decided to try. We're a family of 5. My husband and oldest daughter being extremely picky eaters. My husband had a whole bunch of questions on the way there. Why this place? What's so special about it? Well we certainly found out. The food was delicious , the presentation beautiful. We were nervous when we walked in because we were the only African Americans but our waiter was phenomenal. Courteous, patient, friendly, funny. The drinks she recommended was delicious. Nancy really is the best bar tender. The restaurant looked as if it could have been a house very cozy ambiance. I would make the hour and half drive from home again. Thank you! read more

The food was tasty, well seasoned . The service/server was very attentive . The atmosphere was nice. The music wasn't loud we were able to speak to each other without screaming . My only issue was the beverage, my drink . The drink is supposed to be subtle, enjoyable, tasty, possibly get another one . But this drink was strong on the first sip , stirring and allowing the ice to melt didn't make it any better . I asked the server for water but ended up asking for a soft drink I couldn't drink it . Other than that the night was very pleasant my guess and I had a great time . We may return but not for drinks just for the food . read more

Was really impressed with Uncle Tanks. Great vibe. Great tunes. Great beer, and most importantly phenomenal food. The menu is a bit deceiving. At first glance it doesn't look too special, but as you dig in you'll see unique takes on many staples with incredibly fresh ingredients.. We got a lot of food and it was all dynamite. We also had a chance to meet one of the owners (Frank). Super cool dude and clearly makes satisfying the customer a top priority. We will be back. read more

Uncle Tanks on Elizabeth Ave Somerset just opened this week. Went today to try it out and it gets 5* (stars). Sorry the kids dove into the apps before I got a picture, but everything was delicious. Good prices for great food. They are also dog friendly. You can sit outside with your pooch enjoying your dinner.

Strange space. Bar area on one side and like a small deli type shop with cheap chairs and tables that looked like they belonged in a quick sit down deli on the other. Trying to be elegant with cloth napkins and a few confusing pieces of wall art and a TV. And windows looking out to Elizabeth avenue. Also, their outside seating is in a parking lot on a busy road and just tacky. Food was average at best. They should just keep this a bar - they could get away as a high end bar and just serve nachos, burgers & fries and thin pizza - and forget trying to pose as anything more sophisticated. They also only had one guy (Tyler) hosting, waiting tables inside and outside like a one man show. Back of his tee shirt "get tank'd" just falls flat in a "dining room." Get rid of the dining room and keep it a bar. I give it two stars for trying so hard; I won't be going back. It's a bar so they should just roll with that. read more

Yes yummy! The menu has a lot of variety. The bread they use for the sandwich's and subs are soft and easy to gobble down. Sometimes you have a sandwich and the bread is just so tough , this place is better. Clientele is friendly and staff are friendly. There is a big parking lot so it is easy to park. There is inside and outside seating. The inside was kinda hot but it is summer and I don't mind, just wanna mention in case people are sensitive. One of my most very favorite finds in a very long time! The food and atmosphere are excellent! Unique and creative menu- great burger choices- and the absolute best pierogis and crock onion soup. The staff (John was excellent) and Uncle Tank are what really make dining out a pleasure- friendly and happy to be doing what they're doing and they all make you want to return- we can wait to go back. Nice new place. They take reservations and I'd suggest you make one because it's a small place that fills up quickly. The staff is very nice and welcoming. It is nicely decorated and they have some picnic tables for an outdoor area when it gets nicer. I had the French onion soup and it was good. Also had the burger, which was delicious. Seasoned right with a nice char and juicy. Nice blend. French fries were okay, most pieces were very small. My friend had the chips and they seemed home-made. Suggestion to restaurant: lose the crisped bread with the soup; it has bread in the soup already! Get different fries. Other than that; it's a solid choice! read more

We really enjoyed our recent visit to Uncle Tanks. The menu is amazingly creative and the food is outstanding! We tried a number of appetizers and entrees and were equally impressed with all.
