We came here after watching a Valkyries game the other night and before going back on bart back to the east bay. We were craving pizza for some reason. haha. The server placed the pizza holder on our table backwards. Went we went to serve our second slice the pizza slid off the serving tray. They would not admit their mistake the server called the owner who would not refund 1/2 the pizza. They will not accommodate their clientele on their mistakes. LATE NIGHT EATING AT VINTAGE DECOR PIZZA JOINT I came here late Thursday night about 1 1/2 hour before closing as I didn't eat dinner. Instead of getting whole pies I wanted slices. At the time there was only one slice left on display, which was the margherita pesto. The cashier stated slices for pepperoni and cheese would be available in 15 minutes. I informed the cashier I would like to get slices of the margherita pesto and pepperoni. Even though the remaining slice of the margherita pesto was placed on a pizza tray for a while the slice was warmed up. The most important aspect of the pizza is the crust. On the margherita pesto the crust was crispy on the outside yet airy inside. Too often I've eaten pizzas with the crust having the texture of a cardboard. The slices of the tomatoes tasted sweet. I love pesto, but I couldn't taste the pesto as the pizza was laying in display for a while. After eating the margherita pesto I waited 10 minutes for the pepperoni pizza that was in the oven. How would a hot, fresh slice of pepperoni taste? Eating a bite of the hot slice of pepperoni you can taste the melted mozzarella and tomato sauce. Also I love the curled pepperoni that forms into a cup with the a small pool of grease in the center. If this slice of the hot-of-the-oven pepperoni was this tasty the margherita pesto would've tasted better had it been right out of the oven instead of sitting on a tray for a while. If you're around Union Square late at night craving for pizza Union Square Pizza & Kitchen is a place I would go to. Regarding slices of pizza I would recommend waiting for a pizza still in the oven then slices that have been laying on a tray for a while. read more

Cheese Slice: Technically, a very nice slice. The high quality tomato sauce was first noticeable to me. Lots of gooey warm cheese. And reheated crust was perfectly crispy so it didn't flop when you hold it. Meat Lovers Slice: Really was loaded with meat! Loved the pepperoni cups that curled up and had crispy edges. Thick slices of ham. Big chunks of bacon. Some sort of fancy looking sausage slices. This is definitely a lot heavier than the plain cheese Calzone w/ Pepperoni, Andouille Sausage, Ham: Calzones make me nostalgic, like somehow they were everywhere when I was a kid but now they're not. So quite excited to see it as a special here. I was very meat-centric with my order and have no regrets. It came out glistening, like it might have been brushed in butter or olive oil. Golden brown too, so very nice crust texture. Partially cut, for easier eating. Was dripping lots of gooey mozzarella. All the meat was nice. It's 10pm, you are making your way to the hotel and you are starving. This is one of the few places open late on a Thursday. Was it the best pizza of my life?, no definitely not. Was it's very expensive, yes for a 12in pizza and pasta total was $50. But honestly it hit the spot and filled us up. It's pizza you can't really go too wrong. I stopped in to USP before work for a slice of pizza to get prepared for a long night shift. The gentleman at the front counter was the sweetest ever! I also ordered a small Greek salad which he prepared and it was super fresh and flavorful. Finally, I ordered a slice of Nutella pie to top it all off. The pie was absolutely delightful and a must try! My only hang up was the portion size for the price. I wish the pizza slices were larger and that there were more options for toppings. Ok here's the thing, SF has so many choices for every kind of food. I admit I was looking for convenience, wow did it cost me. Nothing special BBQ chicken pizza, even less special Caesar salad, and a Peroni beer was $60. This little "Italian" pizza hole in the wall joint was far less than my hopes and expectations. I think I may have had better pizza from the frozen food section at Safeway. Small Caesar salad came in a clear clamshell, containing shredded iceberg lettuce, some kind of white cheese, and a small plastic container of some kind of dressing, certainly NOT Caesar dressing. Talk about cutting corners! The ONLY thing genuinely Italian was the Peroni beer, at least I hope it was genuine! Wish I could be more generous with this review but for $60 I could have Ubered to North Beach and had a greater probability of authentic pizza and possibly saved a buck or two. Start with overall, great spot, definitely recommended. Atmosphere is nice, place is very clean and it's a nice place to hang out with a slice. It looked like a cool neighborhood spot so I kept wanting to stop on my way back in the evenings. I finally got a chance right before I had to catch my flight. Overall, facade is nice - they are either new to the neighborhood or they keep the place very clean. Either way, I definitely wanted to go in everytime I passed by. Loved the old subway tiles style flooring that melted into the countertop. Tons of seating, all ready to go and clean. Top notch in the ambiance category. Service was excellent again, I think the owner helped me. He was on the phone out front but I stopped to check the menu and he pretty much hung up immediately to help me out. They were literally just taking fresh pizzas out of the oven as I was stepping in for lunch. He took my order quickly, all good. They brought my pizza out within maybe two minutes, like I said completely fresh. Service was exactly what I wanted, especially since I didn't have much time before the airport. Onto the food - very good but not perfect. The pizza was of course, very fresh since they were just pulling it out of the oven. The cheese was almost perfect, just a touch too much for my tastes but it tasted legit. The pizza was very greasy - if you are into that sort of thing, this is pretty much the quintessential version. I just dripped mine off and it was fine. The pepperoni's were perfect, I loved the size and there was pretty much the perfect amount. The dough was also excellent, the perfect mix between enough chew and a crispy bottom. Overall, great pizza, id definitely eat it again. My last complaint is the price - 20$ for two slices and a canned soda is a lot. They're decent sized but I was frankly still hungry at the end. I know everything is expensive these days but that's tough. Excellent pizza but yeah, I had more food for less money on my trip. Overall give this place a shot, definitely worth trying.
