Fast, fresh, handmade with love. Everything on the menu is devine. I haven't been here for a while, and after my first bite, I literally forgot how good their food is. Dumplings are so so good. The dough is soft and chewy and damn.

Soup dumplings - regular and the variety were not that good. Smaller in size as others have noted. The flavors were pretty bland. The variety one was disappointing. The green one was my least favorite and the orange one was salty. The pea shoots were generous in quantity and fresh but they made it too salty. Clean tables and chill music was nice. Service was friendly. I like that they have a kids menu but don't know how wontons or dumplings go with mac and cheese. Kids 10 and under eat free with an adult entree o Tuesdays which is a nice perk.

I found this dumpling place by accident on a road trip to SF, and it turned out to be a solid stop. We were a group of five, including a baby, and the server told us upfront that it would be at least 10 minutes before he could get to us. I appreciated the honesty, and we were fine waiting. We ordered two soup dumplings (pork and chicken), oolong tea, wings, and a rice dish. Everything came out hot and tasted great. The soup dumplings were the standout -- super fresh and full of flavor -- and the wings and rice rounded out the meal perfectly. If you're in the area, this is an easy recommendation for good, satisfying dumplings and quick, straightforward service.

Ok it's been a few months since my visit because I didn't want to write it right away but I had a disappointing experience. First, they were out of a few items I wanted. This was Saturday lunchtime. Specifically, all the mini pan-fried buns. He told us after seating and ordering. Bummer but ok. Then we ordered. I won't go into the details. He tells us up front they are short staffed in the kitchen and we MUST take our entire order at one time. Okaaay. Well that's pretty normal I think. So we ordered 5 items. Keep in mind there are three of us so that's a sizable order I think. And it's not cheap here. After 15 minutes one item comes. Ok no sweat, I'm sure it'll all be out shortly. Nope. 15 minutes later we all what's up and he says they are short staffed in the kitchen. He'll check. He brings out second dish. Two dishes in 30 minutes. Still three to go. Now I'm noticing other tables have been getting their food. And they ordered after us. I'm like, what? I ask the guy again to check. Takes him 8 more minutes to come back. In the meantime I see even more people get their food. Finally he's back: "I'm sorry, there was an error in the order printing machine". I'll make your food now. It's 45 minutes since ordering and almost an hour since sitting. I'm like, no thanks we can't wait longer, we'll just pay for what we had. He rolls his eyes and said he has to try and back it out, or something like that, like I'm really inconveniencing him. Another 5 minutes for that. Don't like the way it happened. Don't like the customer service or the attitude. My few months cooling off period didn't help I guess. I will say the food we did get was good.

This place was recommended by several people so we decided to to give it a try. Our overall impression was it was ok. The service was good. Our waiter was attentive. The restaurant itself was clean and inviting. We thought the XLB was on the smaller side. The cucumber salad needed a little more acid. The Grandma Pork dumplings were good. And we both really liked the tempura mushrooms and lobster potstickers. The tempura was like and didn't drown out the mushrooms. The Lobster potstickers were really flavorful.

I absolutely loved my experience here! I decided I was taking myself to lunch...and I had earmarked this place last week. I LOVE dandan noodles, and there are very few places that have them. So today was the day and I am so happy I did! It was a quiet day, with me there were about 5 people dining in the restaurant, so it was pleasant. I was told that I could sit anywhere, so I sat in the middle of the restaturant along the wall. The waiter came over and introduced himself, Tony! And he shook my hand...who does that? That alone was special and so thank you Tony for going above and beyond, it was appreciated. I knew already what I wanted, I had already looked at the menu before I got here! Cucumber salad and dandan noodles! I don't eat meat so I ordered the vegetarian dandan...and they did not disappoint! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here and will be back for sure! I really appreciate Tony and his hospitality, that in itself was amazing!

My friends and I came on a Saturday night and there were only a couple other people dining. We ordered the Sichuan dumplings in chili oil, mini pan-fried pork buns, pork soup dumplings, and the California beef noodle soup. Sichuan dumplings in chili oil (3.5/5): There wasn't as much chili oil as we would like, it wasn't really spicy at all but the dumplings were good. Mini pan-fried pork buns (3/5); The dumpling skin was nice and crispy but the pork inside was interesting and was very crumbly which made for an interesting texture. Pork soup dumplings (2.5/5): The first one was good but then as I ate more it wasn't as good, the soup was good but the quality of the meat didn't feel the best. They also only gave us vinegar to dip in and no soy sauce. California beef noodles (3/5): The beef was inconsistent some pieces had a lot of fat and tendon and weren't tender while some were tender. The broth of the soup had no depth and was not very rich like tradition beef noodle soups are. The noodles itself were good and chewy. They also were inconsistent with the vegetables, we ordered two bowls and one had a bunch of veggies but the other bowl only had one stem. Overall, I don't think my friends and I will be back.

United Dumplings in Rockridge was an absolute delight. I ordered lunch special #5 with Kung Pao chicken, Grandma's dumplings, and a strawberry mimosa--everything was vibrant, beautifully presented, and incredibly flavorful. The chicken had just the right kick, the dumplings were comforting and perfectly made, and the mimosa was fresh and bright. Every dish looked as good as it tasted. I'll definitely be back for another round soon.

My husband and I love dumplings. We have been wanting to try this place and came in last Sunday. Didn't realize how much seating was available inside... so much! One waitress was working but it was a slow night. She was super helpful and our food all came out very fast. We ordered a few things my favorite dish was the Sichuan Wonton in Red Oil. Super tasty. We also got some potstickers that were pretty tasty. I thought the menu would have more options but also glad it didn't have too many to feel overwhelmed. We much enjoyed it :)

second time coming here! Great service and the dumplings are great too. My favorite was the one with cheese not too sure on the name, but I would definitely order the again.

Korean beef and chili oil Dumplings (left)

United Dumplings is located on a busy portion of College near the Safeway. They serve up a variety of options ranging from Korean beef dumplings to potstickers and noodles. I was craving dumplings and hadn't been to this location in a few years, so I decided to give them another go! My crew ended up grabbing the chili oil dumplings, grandma's pork potstickers, peashoots, Korean beef dumplings, and Sichuan chicken. I have to say that one of my favorite items ironically was the Sichuan Chicken. The chicken was crispy and flavorful with a little kick. It paired well with the more carb heavy offerings we sampled including the perfectly crispy Napa cabbage potstickers and the the tasty/garlicky peashoots. I'd say that the weakest of the offerings was probably the Korean BBQ beef dumplings which didn't really wow me. Overall, I felt like the food was good quality and tasty. Our server was also courteous and worked to get our food over to us quickly. I will say that I've found better value and other dumpling spots as well as dim sum restaurants. ($10 for 3 har gow seems a bit steep). Still, you won't be disappointed by the solid dumplings here. The space is on the cozier side, so expect a bit of a wait during their rush hour.

Fried rice, pork XLB, Sichuan wontons, Korean dumplings, pea shoots

Really good meal here on a Sunday afternoon. Dropped in at 12:30 pm and there were only a couple of tables full. The menu is varied, with a number of options for dumplings, greens, rice, noodles, and a few entrees. The dishes are a combo of Northern Chinese with influence from other Asian cuisines, like Korean and Singaporean. We wanted to get a good sense of everything the restaurant is capable of, so we decided to go with the pork XLB, sautéed pea shoots with garlic, Korean BBQ beef dumplings, Sichuan dan dan noodles, Sichuan wontons in red oil, and the Singapore curry chicken fried rice. The waiter was super friendly and eager to share his recommendations, and the wontons and rice both happened to be on his list, so we figured we'd chosen some good dishes for our first meal here and were honing in on the right things. The dan dan noodles came out first and were great. We mixed them at the table and loved the sauce, which was rich and had a ton of ground pork. This was one of our favorite dishes of the meal. Everything else came out after the noodles, which was nice -- no long waits between dishes. The XLB are smaller than at some other places I've been, but the flavor of the broth in the dumpling was really nice and the pork filled the whole dumpling. The Korean BBQ beef dumplings were incredibly juicy inside. One bite and a ton of juice would come out of them. Delicious. The dipping sauce served with them is a must-have with these dumplings. I couldn't get enough of the pea shoots. While it's an incredibly simple dish, the garlic flavor was just phenomenal and the shoots were cooked so they still had a bit of a crunch. Not overcooked at all. The Sichuan wontons were the only dish I didn't really care for, and that's because the sauce was too heavy on the vinegar. It came through very strongly in a way I didn't like, but the wontons themselves were delicious. My husband, however, really loved this dish and happily ate the rest. So it's just a matter of taste, not that the dish was poorly executed. This was actually another of his favorite dishes. The Singapore curry rice is very curry-forward. I would've liked this dish better if it had more of a balance with garlic and onion and wasn't quite so one-dimensional in flavor, but it was stuffed with ingredients and was one of the most generous portions of the meal. We ended up taking most of it home, and the leftovers held up well once we got to them the next day. My one disappointment with United Dumplings is that the portions are inconsistent and can be a bit small, especially for the dan dan noodles. There were two portions on the plate, so if we had a bigger group it would've been really hard to share this dish. As I mentioned above, the pork XLB are smaller than at other dumpling houses I've been to. But the pea shoots and fried rice were very generous portions. So just bear in mind that while the idea of the restaurant is to order many dishes to share, some are better suited to that than others. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here. The food was hot, fresh, flavorful, and came out very fast, and the restaurant has a bright, airy feel that was pleasant to be in. When we visited, a woman was seated in the windows making what looked like siu mai by hand and smiled at us as we watched her briefly. I thought that was cool. Our waiter was a super nice guy and was attentive without hovering. There are a number of other things I want to try on the menu, including the beef noodle soup, so I'll be back. Those pea shoots aren't safe from me, either.

I ordered a couple of their popular dishes, the KAOKAO Char Siu Set and the Chong Qing Noodles, and both were fantastic. The char siu was so tasty, nicely cooked with most of the fat rendered (a big plus since unrendered fat especially on BBQ is a pet peeve of mine). It had that satisfying chew, a subtle smoky char, and a sweet-savory black bean glaze that tied everything together. The rice and pickled cucumbers on the side were a great balance to the in your face flavors of the pork. The Chong Qing Noodles were another highlight. You can tell the noodles are handmade as they are springy, chewy, and full of texture. The staff actually recommended that I get them uncooked since I was ordering to go, so I could boil them at home for a few minutes to keep the perfect bite and they were totally right. The broth was rich and balanced, with nutty sesame paste, a gentle kick from chili oil, a bit of crunch from peanuts, and some fresh bok choy for contrast. Everything was packed thoughtfully for takeout and still tasted amazing even after a longer drive. Overall, a really pleasant experience with great food, great service, and a place I'll definitely return to next time I find myself around Berkeley!

Our total for 2 entrees and 2 drinks was $60 before tip. We ordered two drinks (orange juice and an iced mocha) which were provided promptly. The orange juice was a little too sour and my mom had to add some sugar to improve the taste. The iced mocha was good, not too sweet. One thing to note the wait for our food took much longer than expected, and it may have been due to how busy it was. My mom opted to order the salmon yuzu benedict and I got an egg plate (scrambled eggs) with a side green salad. My mom mentioned the potatoes lacking salt but she enjoyed the salmon benedict. I thought the scrambled eggs were good, but slightly bland & needed salt and pepper. The side green salad was alright, but the vinaigrette had a bitter aftertaste. Overall, the meal was pretty good and timing wasn't the best. I'd likely return for brunch on a non-peak day. Definitely recommend joining the yelp waitlist prior to arriving if you can!

Oken was 1st choice while the 2nd choice was somewhat more casual. MAGURO CARPACCIO - FRESH MAITAKE TEMPURA - Great texture, not greasy BAECHU SALAD - lots of flavor and love a crispy topping WAGYU KALBI SHORT RIB SSAM - TENDER af, great flavor STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE - subtle, not too sweet Asian fusion can sometimes be a hit or miss but Oken executed every dish beautifully. Make reservations because this place fills up quick. Good date spot. Great service. Amazing food.

Belly has become one of my favorite spots in Oakland, and for some great reasons. The food is…read moreconsistently yummy. Their salads are a standout, especially with the ability to customize your protein. Their fusion twists on burritos, bowls, burgers, and spaghetti are right up my alley. Their drinks and mocktails are a nice touch too. But what really keeps me coming back every Tuesday is Mahjong Night. Alice and the staff have built something genuinely special here; a warm, welcoming community where regulars and newcomers mix easily over tiles and great food. The energy in the room is wonderful, and you can tell the whole team actually cares about the experience they're creating. If you're looking for a neighborhood restaurant with delicious food and real heart, Belly is it. Highly recommend coming for a meal, and even more so for Mahjong Night if that's your thing.

We got an order of tater tots for the table, which were wonderful with Japanese flavors. I had the two taco plate with steak and eggs. My only problem with the dish was that the tortillas couldn't handle the weight and moisture of the filling and fell apart. The flavors were very nice and I enjoyed the dish very much. My family also enjoyed their meals, most notably my nephew's miso brown butter noodles. Service was very prompt and efficient. The vibe of the place was easygoing and colorful but not fussy or frilly. And the food is reasonably priced as well. There is a lot of wonderful food in this Oakland neighborhood, and I'm not here very often, so it may be a while before I get back to this spot. But I think anyone who enjoys innovative fusion combinations will enjoy this casual eatery. Give it a try!

Brunch done the right way in Berkeley! From hard to find parking to the loud environment to…read morebottomless mimosas to Korean fusion dishes. Everything meshes just right. We went with the bottomless mimosa option. They offer 4 different flavors: OJ, raspberry, peach, and Tiffany (for it's color). We enjoyed the peach one the most. Our server made sure we had refills on both water and mimosas at all times. We started off strong with the Pajun Pancake. A good ratio of shrimp, bacon, and veggies. The sauce it was paired with was the wow factor and we even asked for more. The bulgogi on both the bulgogi bowl and bulgogi scramble was tender and had a tasty marinade. I would had wished the bulgogi scramble didn't have as much red onion. I was surprised with the sweet potato tots option and that didn't disappoint. The spicy pork sandwich was elevated and balanced out with the kimchi slaw and cucumber combo. We finished with the Crunch French toast and it was perfection! Fluffy inside but a crunchy outside. I would come back to try their other options for brunch and dinner.

Visited on a Saturday between 1:00 and 2:00 PM…read more I've been to this restaurant before and decided to come back after a few years. The hostess was welcoming, and the staff who brought out our food were friendly. Unfortunately, our server provided a very different experience. When we asked for appetizer recommendations, he simply repeated the menu items without offering any suggestions. Throughout the meal, he never checked on our table, even though we noticed him checking on the surrounding tables several times. At one point, the patio umbrella unexpectedly fell near our table. Instead of first asking if everyone was okay, his only response was, "Do you mind if I close the umbrella?" That was disappointing and made us feel overlooked. The only time his attitude became noticeably friendlier was when he brought the check. We happened to be the only Asian table that afternoon. While I can't say for certain why our experience felt different, the contrast in service left us feeling unwelcome. I hope every customer receives the same level of care and attention.
