I really hate Yelp as it is a forum for whiners and complainers. However, my husband and I recently used United to move us from one city to another. I was very pleased at the level of professionalism when they arrived. They were fast, efficient, careful and very friendly. All the employees I had been in direct contact with were very friendly and professional. I had no problems with rude or nasty attitudes - which is a major plus. I was also very pleased by the level of quality and service. I really appreciated the care all the movers took ensuring our things weren't scratched, dented or broken. There was a minor issue with the time window. Even though I didn't really express my anxiety about the tardiness, the head guy (I sincerely apologize, I forgot his name) was more than willing to offer a discount and didn't charge for packing material. United did everything they could to rectify the situation (not that it was big deal to begin with - I understand, things happen). So far I have had excellent service from United Transportation. Jennifer was very helpful with the initial order and always available for questions! When Ben arrived for the pick up his expertise with measurements with his walk through abilities were very impressive. You pay for cubic feet, and for most of us, that is difficult to understand as far as how much space that equates to. I would recommend to have Ben come out prior to your official move to give you an accurate measurement if your not sure. For myself I decided to use less boxes than I originally gave to Jennifer, just to make sure I did not go over since we are on a tight budget and my furniture has a few odd sizes. Because I used less boxes I was actually very close to the original price quoted sight unseen. Ben and his crew wrapped all my furniture carefully and were very polite. My husband has a bad back, and we decided to shop around for movers. Trust me, this is the only company comparable to move it yourself costs. I don't know why my review was taken down, but I am re-posting this from 9/13/14. I wonder how many others get taken down and why... Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to contact anyone at Yelp: This is THE WORST moving company I have ever used, and I've had 3 major moves - w/a previous one being horrendous - so that is saying a lot. Bobby and Blake's reviews sound much closer to my experience than any of the better reviews. It's the same old story: you talk to some nice, professional-sounding person on the phone, but when the movers come, EVERYTHING changes. I had a studio apt. - about 35 boxes, a dresser, a file cabinet, a trunk - not much stuff. I know that w/2 movers it takes no more than 2 hours to move me. One guy - ONLY ONE guy - came, and so it took 5 hours to load the truck. He finally left at 10:30pm (and, of course, he also showed up late). Also, not only did he barely speak English, but he knew nothing about the company's policies. He was also dishonest. He tried to tell me that I had more stuff than I had originally reported to the company, and other stuff... He actually asked me to leave him alone in my apt. while I went and got him food!! I learned later that it was his call that there was only 1 man on my job, so he could keep more of the money. Not knowing this, I actually tipped him well because I felt sorry that he had to work so hard! Ultimately, though, the responsibility falls on the company. That "nice, professional-sounding" girl with whom I originally spoke dropped all communication with me once problems ensued. And I had to keep calling the company to ask about my stuff. It just arrived yesterday and everything is beat to s**t: boxes crushed, upside down, etc. I can already see that much of my stuff has been damaged (mugs, glassware, plastic crates, etc). After this experience, I have finally decided to never, ever, ever use a moving company again, no matter how far away I move. KEEP CLEAR OF UNITED TRANSPORTATION MOVING AND STORAGE. This is my first time moving out of California State to Texas. Long story short, Natalie was great in answering all of my questions. I had a lot of stuff combined with my daughters stuff to move. I was first quoted @ $975 with additional boxes it totaled $1631 OMG thank god I am splitting the cost with my daughter and son in law. My next move I will make sure to stuff each boxes. It will be cheaper to fill up Medium boxes than the Large or Extra large boxes. I understand that it goes by cubic feet. I did a cross country move and the mover used these guys as his agent in Los Angeles. The negative reviews are correct. This guy Ben is not only irresponsible but a con artist. I had arranged with the east coast mover to pay for a months storage and paid it. Then after lots of run around from Ben about when they would deliver my stuff, he texts me at 11:00 pm to say they'll deliver at 7 am the next morning (Sunday). Nobody shows up and finally at 11 or 12 a mover calls for my address. They hadn't been told about this fictitious 7 am move. Then, I start getting texts from Ben saying that I owe for storage. I clarified that I had paid it but he still demands more than I paid and says if I don't pay he won't be able to deliver my stuff until some future date (implying something quite a bit later). This is his scam. He thinks you are counting on the stuff being delivered and need it so holds it hostage. I had no urgency as this was stuff that I'd had in storage for years. When I told him that he stopped asking for more money but left me hanging for a couple of hours as to whether they were coming or not. Finally the movers called. Some boxes of fragile items were totally destroyed. The mover on the east coast was very careful so I don't think it was on their end. I'm missing some stuff. As well. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS. This company was such a relief!!! I moved from California to Tampa and honestly I had nothing to worry about, all my friends always talked about how messed up it was to move and how this companies would always raise prices and or loose things, I got in contact with United Transportation, they gave me a quote and an estimated time for delivery, they showed up the day we agreed, the price didnt go up, and it took them 8 days to deliver my things. The Delivery has been a nightmare, dealing with the insurance company something much worst I'll recommend you to find a more expensive moving company, I was trying not to spend too much money in the moving but at the end I need to buy all my damage or last articles again Some of my belongings were lost and some other were damaged by the Oleg (the person in charge of the delivery) If you are moving near the east coast, avoid at all cost Oleg's crew. I estimate the total value of the damage and lost belonging in $1,800. The company says they will cover only 198 dollars be careful with this: they will pay 60% of the total weight damaged, not the cost. Not sure about the other experiences here on Yelp but I had good experience with United Transportation Moving Services! I ran into them via Yelp looking for local moving from my old house to my new one about 30 minutes away. I checked with their prices compared to others and it was just reasonable. Staff was friendly to me, the process was very quick and courteous to my schedule. One of the things I paid attention to was moving my bigger items such as my bed frame, piano, and other heavy valuables that would require precision and patience and that really made me feel better about the entire move. I have no complaints. Give them a shot, if you don't like em' then "move" onto something else! I just moved again and the move required the movers to pick up boxes from 3 locations and get them all to a new home. About three years ago, I had a very bad experience with a moving company. Fortunately, I was able to find 'United-Transportation moving and storage', and moving from Seattle to Los Angeles. My experience with them was excellent. The delivery of my items was on time, everything was delivered safely, and the staffs were very polite with no complaints what-so-ever. Found United Transportation Moving and Storage online. I had read the reviews and to be honest, I was a bit skeptical. I checked out and spoke with about 5 other movers and came back to United Transportation Moving and Storage. They were contracted to move furniture from Arizona to the SF Bay Area. They came to the home in AZ on Friday. They packed the furniture (sofa, loveseat, marble tables, plants, etc.) very, very solid. I was impressed. They did charge me an extra $75 to crate the marble table top. Additionally, they informed me about the $120 extra for the fuel surcharge. Nevertheless, I went ahead and let them continue to pack and load my items. Again, they arrived on a Friday evening in AZ around 6:00 pm to pack. They told me to allow 3-7 days for the items to arrive. I flew to the Bay Area the next day, Saturday morning. Well, Saturday evening, the company called to tell me that my items would be ready for delivery around 5:00 pm on Sunday! I was pleasantly shocked...this was only 48 hours later. As promised, United arrived at 5:00 pm on Sunday and unpacked my goods at my home. Everything was in mint condition. The gentlemen who were unpacking and placing my furniture where I instructed were super friendly, kind, and professional. After about an hour, they were done, and out the door. I could not have asked for better or faster service. I don't usually write reviews for anything but because, like many of you, I was hesitant to use United based on the reviews of others, I went ahead with them based on price and my expectations were far exceeded. read more

Originally scheduled for pickup at my house on the 24th of January (10am) I had to call at 11:30am to ask why the driver never showed yet which they couldn't give me an answer because they cant reach the driver. It was now 12:30 when I get intouch with the driver which who cared less about meeting the scheduled time and how we were waiting on him. He informed us that his truck has now broken down in san- antonio TX and he will not be arriving till 3:00 that same day. Waited till 3:00 then called the company again which informed us that he will not be making it at all and he will be picking up the shipment from a local warehouse the following day (25th jan). We never got any call stating any updates or anything. At this point im busy moving with my family assuming it got picked up by now...today is the 29th of january and after I call the company yet again they tell me the driver never showed to pick up the shipment from the local warehouse and he is no longer handling the shipment let alone his company at all....It was suppose to be a direct ship for it to arrive in NY on or before 4Feb when me and my family will be arriving which was stated in the paperwork. Thats what I get I suppose when the military pays for the move, they pick the lowest bid offer and a shady moving company that can careless about your shipment. It is now the 29th of Jan and still my shipment is sitting in storage in killeen, TX. Would give 1 star if possible. read more

I gave up on any resolutions with this company. Then I get and email. Saying please call so we can resolve your complaint. Was emailed from lady named ophelia but when I called to talk to her she passed me off to someone else. This is not how business is done. So now on top of everything else I just received an email. Where they wanted to buy my review. My "reimbursement" would be $100. But they want me to give them 4 stars. Have tried to contact them through email and the do not answer I think they do not want any of their conversations where anyone can come back on them. Only gets worse the more I talk to them.. One star is way to many stars. From day one of the pick up and delivery I have bad communication problems with this company. First they make and appointment to pick up call at time of the pick up and say we can't come pick up for 2 more days. Well then this were where the communication gets worse. I keep getting told delayed delayed delayed. Then comes time of delivery (3 weeks later when was told would take one week) well day before the delivery im and talking to the driver making sure he would be there that night at 7 pm. And he told me to shut up and listen to him. And would not let me double check the time he just kept bringing up the money that was still owed. Even after I said I will have the money. Well because he did not clarify something about the payment I called the main office and they let me pay with a credit card (charging me 3% more to pay that way). It was hard to get him to clarify again the time. Then he called me at 8:30 pm that night to see if I wanted him to come that night. Well no it is going to be at least 9 or 9:30 when you get here so we changed it till the morning at 8 am. Well he calls me at 8 telling me the truck will not fit in my apartment complex. I knew this and I told them and it was marked on the contract that a semi and trailer would not fit in my complex. So when I got meet the driver/mover at the front he told me I need to pay him the money owed (now remember I paid it the night before) and if I wanted him to get the stuff into a smaller truck it would be another $350 for him to rent a smaller truck. So after arguing about that I said I will have to money just deliver my belongings. Less then and hour later he calls me and tells me I have to have the money that I owe for the deliver again. I told him I paid it already yesterday and I have the receipt to prove it. All the while he is telling me to shut up and listen to him. Then I get a call from his dispatcher who begins to threaten me that they would not unload the truck unless I paid they the money that was owed on the delivery. I told him I paid it last night over the phone and that I had the receipt and he told me I had to pay or no deliver. I then told him to wait 30 minutes until the office opened. And he said he was not going to wait he was he was the boss I owed them money and they would not deliver with out the payment. It got so bad I had to have my father call and he ended up calling the main office and they said it will be delivered. So the Driver then called me told me he's five minutes out. As he's on his way I call their main office and I talked to Tammy. (Tammy was the only helpful person in the company that I talked to once the pick up was made). As I'm talking to Tammy the driver shows up and I ask him to wait just a second when I finish my conversation. He then proceeds to follow me to my front door and I said give me just a second. He stands in the front door goes one two your seconds are up. Tammy here's what he was saying and asked to speak to him so I put the phone on speaker. He then proceeds to disrespect Tammy and Will not listen to her when she tells him that she just needs one minute to talk finish talking to me. I then hang up with Tammy and told the driver I wanted a receipt and I wanted him to write the receipt while I was getting the money. He said no money before receipt he kept saying that over and over. He held out his hand and kept demanding the payment the payment. So yes I was unset at this point and I slammed the money in his hand. He then proceeded to drop the money on the ground and turn around and walk away. After a minute comes back handover the money after I had him the money he hands me the receipt and proceed to move my stuff in. As he's moving my stuff and he was actually pretty nice however that does not make up for the way that I was treated on the phone and when he first got there. He actually been said as they're leaving it would've gone better if you did just paid me. So after they leave I call Tammy back as she asked me too. I tell her all that he did how he still did not treat me right until the money was in his hands. She then says that she will try to see if I can get some compensation but the way that I was treated. I give them a little of the over a week and I called to see if a decision was made. read more

This is one of those classic "If I could give less than 1 star, I would" reviews. I was planning to use their service to move across the country. I put down a deposit and was sent the contract. A few hours after doing so, something changed on my end regarding my move, so I had to cancel. I didn't even sign the contract. I canceled the move the same day I scheduled it, which was six weeks before it was happening. The contract clearly stated that I would get my full deposit back if I canceled outside of three days before the scheduled move. I called every day for the next week and couldn't get an answer that I would get my deposit back. I finally got an answer and they said I would receive part of my deposit back minus an application fee. There was no application fee stated in the contract or told to me over the phone. They said that was just the way it was. I still hadn't received any part of my deposit back. It took nearly six weeks of consistent calls from me and no return calls for them to credit back part of my deposit. They refused to credit me back the full amount, even though it clearly states in their contract that I would receive the full amount. I am so thankful I didn't use their service for the move because I can't imagine what kind of hidden fees they would have come up with. read more

Moving across country is not the easiest thing to do. After rigorous search for a good moving company, I finally chose untied transportation. I got a good quote for my move from CA to TN. Tammy worked with us pretty well making sure the process went forward smoothly. The guys that came and picked our stuff were very efficient and professional and wrapped few of our items without any additional charge. Upon delivery, Nicholas, the guy that dropped off our items was super helpful and considerate. We weren't physically present at our apartment at the time of drop off and without us asking him, he continued a direct constant communication, took pictures and kept us up to date. Everything was intact and we were very pleased. Just bear in mind that there is a 3% additional charge for gas and maybe some other things on top of the overall charge, which was written in the contract, however I didn't pay attention to it. Like Gabriella D. who posted on 12/20/2016 they offered to pay me for my missing items if I agreed to take down my honest review of their company. Being paid for the missing items would have been satisfactory so I took my review down a month ago. They told me they would come through "next week" every time I talked to them for about a month (around 10 phone calls). I realized they were probably trying to buy time for some reason and am now entering a legal battle. If you have been wronged by this company go to https://nccdb.fmcsa.dot.gov/NCCDB/Home.aspx and report them to the Department of Transportation. Go to "Consumer", File a Complaint, and write what happened in your situation. Then Go to the Better Business Bureau website and report them there http://www.bbb.org/ . File a police report for your missing items as it looks like lots of people have items which "disappear" when in the hands of United. Take them to small claims court to retrieve what has been stolen from you and post your honest reviews here and don't listen to anything United says, their word is not worth anything. I've only used movers once and this was the company used. I am happy with the result and would have no trouble using them again. I expect this is about as good as it gets and would recommend them. read more

I believe an employee from this company stole my wife's wedding ring. They gave me a good deal and came to my house in short notice. The truck did not bear any company markings. The drivers and dispatchers contacted me on personal phones and had to ask if I was a customer when I returned their calls. The sales lady Natalie was very nice and told me the truck was leaving for CA the next day, so I could expect my stuff to be delivered very soon. They held my stuff for 13 days. When you call they answer the phone with "Moving company" and not the legal name of the business. Upon delivery a gold diamond wedding ring was the only missing item from a jewelry box containing much lesser value items. So I had to go to the extra hassle of reporting the diamond stolen and finding my paperwork from the jeweler. read more
