Thankfully we dodged a bullet with this company and canceled the move. We read some of the negative reviews but gave them the benefit of the doubt after talking to Tami. As our moving day drew near, they never contacted us to give us a firm date and time for pickup. We attempted to call the number on their site, which was conveniently disconnected. We eventually got a hold of them through email and received a new contact number from Tami. They reassured us that everything was set. The day before the time range they had given us to pick up our stuff, they again did not contact us with a firm date. We got a hold of Tami, who said everything was still good and that she would contact us in an hour to let us know the exact pickup time. Of course, she didn't call us, so we had to call her back. We got redirected to Ben (?) who now suddenly said a truck was delayed due to repairs, and that they wouldn't arrive until a day later, which would be after we were on a plane to Hawaii. He said he would contact us back in 20 minutes with updated information. (Spoiler alert: he didn't call us back.) After reading more reviews on Google and hearing the same warning from so many others, we decided to cancel and go with a different moving company. We did not want to be additional victims to extortion and poor customer service. When I called to cancel, I spoke with Tami who forwarded me on to Ana. I explained to Ana our dissatisfaction with their lack of communication and service and that we wanted to cancel and have our deposit refunded. After putting me on hold, she came back on the phone and suddenly they could have someone the next day, and they could offer a discount. Their lack of professionalism throughout this whole process was too much for me, so I declined and reiterated that I wanted a refund. Ana promised a refund request to be put in by Friday. Shortly after, Tami called my wife, offering her the discount as well, and then redirected my wife to Ben. It was hard to understand him, but Ben was very accusatory and almost sounded like he was going to charge us more for damages to his company! He said that he had worked it out to have another truck at our place the next day and that one of the ladies had already told us that after our initial conversation with him (remember that one where he said he would call back in 20 minutes, which he didn't). We explained that no one ever bothered contacting us back until we called them. Now, Ben refuses to refund our deposit. From our experience and the sounds of other reviews, this company appears to be a racket from the beginning to end. DO NOT USE THEM! EDIT: After checking my credit card statement after the last call, they charged me $1000, which I did not authorize! Apparently, Ben thought he could charge me for "damages" anyway. I contacted United Transportation after my friend recommended them to me. I spoke to Tamara in the sales department and she gave me an estimate for moving me and my family to Honolulu. Tamara gave me the price and I checked with another company and I saw that United was cheaper and I ordered the service. The date of move - the driver called me an hour before. Hector, Francisco and Juan all came to pack up my house. They worked fast and cleaned and within 3 hours. They were done. The price never changed. The delivery to Honolulu took about 2 weeks and the dispatcher called me to inform me of drop off in the next day. Nothing was damaged and everything was in perfect condition. I recommend this company for anyone moving within the United States or even Hawaii. Thank you guys!!!!! read more

Took over 21 days to get our stuff, from CA to UT. The entire time was a nightmare. Highly unprofessional. They will give you the run around on everything from price to where your stuff is. They charged us $6000 over what they quoted us, after giving multiple updated inventory sheets. They offered to give us a refund of $1400. Haven't seen it, don't think we ever will, as they don't return emails or phone calls. Many items were damaged en route, and their "insurance" its a joke. I had a great experience with United Transport and gained some insight into the importance of comprehending all of the details in one's binding quote, and how misalignment of expectation can happen. I've had five trans-continental moves, and this one was handled the best of all. First, Kim walked me through the quote so I understood that the quote price is based on a volume estimate, but the measurable final volume (in cubic footage) determines the cost. Fair enough, the more I use, the more I pay. Kim discussed variables that add cost, such as long carry or exterior stairs, and we made sure each was addressed. I was concerned that moving from both a home and a shop would be too much for one truck, so I send rep Jennifer and dispatcher Roger a zipped folder of photos and videos of what needed to be moved. United's quote for me was based on visual survey by a local rep of a major van line, and seeing the images let them be sure I had the right transport ready. Seeing the move in action is what impressed me most. Hector is the foreman and operations director. After seeing what was to be moved, he knows logistics and his experience just clicks in. Meanwhile master stacker, Eduardo, is on the truck creating a wall of boxes that is packed to efficiently with minimal empty space. Hector made sure I was in sync with his process and truly took care of it for me. I found the United people are hardworking and and professional, each in their own aspect of the enterprise. AVOID MISUNDERSTANDINGS AHEAD OF TIME - by reviewing your quote with Kim or Jennifer, so you know what "estimate" means, and what variables such as exterior stairs and long carry distance will affect final cost. Update: Tamara called and resolved the issue for us and United agreed to pay for the damages. They handled our move in March 2019. We were quoted $2000 for our move and moving day ended up paying over $4000. They miscalculated the volume- I wish it had been more accurate. The movers put a large hole in our wall moving the refrigerator, which they promised to be back to fix the next day. They never showed. We had to cover the cost of drywall repair and paint, on top of the $4000 move. 5 months later we are still seeking reimbursement for the handyman we hired, that United assured us they would reimburse. We sent invoices and all paperwork they requested. We called to follow up today and were told that after 5 months of back and forth, management "Paul" is the only person that can authorize reimbursements. So why didn't they send to Paul 5 months ago? Nearly 2,000 vinyl records, some priceless family art, snowboard gear and audio gear all made it without a scratch. Update: the company contacted me and resolved our issue at this time. We hired this company for moving out of state about 5 months ago. While moving our refrigerator, movers rammed it into our wall and made a huge dent in our wall. The supervisor on site apologized and took pictures and immediately sent it over to his manager. He stated that someone will come and fix it the next day (since we were moving out of state). One week after I got a call from our landlord which went to check the property to return our security deposit. Guess what?! No one showed up to fix it! I gave them a call and they said that they thought someone fixed it and they will pay to fix it. Our landlord took $350 out of security deposit and fixed the hole. We documented everything and sent it over to them and they have given us the run around ever since. 5 months later we have not received our money back. read more

We ended up with this company after using a broker (btw never use a broker). They were horribly unresponsive. I needed proof of insurance to move out of my building. easy enough right? Apparently not. Three emails and three phone calls later, I finally got the certificate. Still, I had some hopes for a smooth interstate move. They picked up my stuff on 6/7 with a first delivery date of 6/24. I didn't get any calls from the office though, so I called them. I ended up talking to the dispatcher, let's call him "Gregor". Gregor told me that it was the end of the month so they were too busy to move my stuff. Never mind they could have moved it in the middle of the month to arrive right on time. So a week goes by with no call. I call back. Gregor tells me my stuff is in the way and should arrive in a week. The week comes and goes with no call. So I call back and get the same song and dance. I start calling every day and the drop off date keeps moving back. Don't these guys want their money? Finally the stuff gets delivered on July 12th, over a month after pickup! As the stuff gets unloaded, lots of the boxes are destroyed, marked fragile or not. One piece of ikea furniture was heavily damaged, and more sturdy furniture was also nicked up. they neglected to wrap up our rug and it came back with mysterious black spots all over it. Oh well, I guess at least we get to buy new furniture! To add insult to injury, I got a weight certificate as proof as I didn't trust this company at all. Mysteriously our belongings increased in weight about 800 lbs, from our last move despite selling off lots of stuff. To their credit the actual on site movers were nice guys and seemed to do a decent job. But it doesn't even come close to balance out what they do with your stuff when you're not around and their horrible customer service. Avoid this company at all costs. One star is too much praise. Six weeks and eight promised delivery dates later, my son's belongings finally caught up with him. Note the extreme care taken by this company, not to be confused with United Van Lines, contracted by Great American Van Lines. I was there for the unloading and couldn't believe my eyes. The boxes looked as if they had been dragged around the world a few times. One of them they taped up before it came off the truck; I took that to mean that they were afraid to unload it without some reinforcement. We had what we thought to be a decent company to move our belongings from Los Angeles to Las Vegas (if you want to know who to avoid, see my next review after this one LOL). After two reschedules and a general lack of responsiveness, we were stuck trying to find a mover in 24 hours. United Transportation to the rescue!!! I can't say enough how much I appreciate these folks. Within 24 hours they were able to arrange our move, were very communicative and did a wonderful job. Their manager Ben actually showed up, pitched in, and followed up to make sure we were satisfied! I have never seen that kind of customer service in moving before! The gentlemen in Los Angeles and Las Vegas were really good guys who were diligent and careful. They took their work seriously and it showed in the great condition of our prized possessions that arrived in Las Vegas. I highly, highly recommend these movers. BOX STOLEN!!! We had a box with spare antibiotics in it that rattled loudly when you moved it around. United people must have thought that there were pain killers inside and kept it. USE OTHER MOVERS. Other horrible things that happened with this company: -----Last-minute price hike shake-down (asked for price increase of 27 percent !!, settled on 20 percent ) -----Verbal abuse (dispatcher guy "Alex" with a thick accent rudely and angrily threatened to deliver my belongings a month later over the phone for expressing concern about delivery date) -----Delivery delay (promised less than 2 weeks delivery, came in 17 days) I cannot tolerate the theft of our box that was obviously targeted for its contents of drugs. Other personal belongings of monetary and personal significance were inside, so sad. I'm sad to say that the way we realized that it was stolen was when we hurried for the antibiotics but couldn't find them, causing unnecessarily long physical pain and suffering and a delay in medical care. We'll prescribe ourselves some new drugs and buy some new personal belongings, but I hope you never recover United. read more

Great customer service when trying to get your business, horrible customer service once they have it. The price kept jumping. I realize the quote is just an estimate, but they also add on for each foot they have to walk to get to your door and each step they have to climb. By the time they were done, the price was double their quote. I had them hold my belongings for a few months while I looked for a home. The price of storage also jumped once they had my stuff. I notified them a month and a half before my move-in date. I called every day for two weeks before I moved in to make sure they would deliver that day. Each time, they said they'd call me the next day to verify. They never called. Finally, one woman assured me my stuff would arrive on the date of my move-in, but they were three days late. A lot of my furniture was broken or scratched and filled with mouse droppings. read more

I needed to move from the Bay Area, CA to Palm Springs, CA pretty quickly. I did some research and collected quotes from several companies, and also used Unpakt (a quoting engine). United got back to me with an actual quote sent via email, which I LOVED -- it was totally comprehensive, and I didn't want to deal with a million phone calls and getting my contact / lead info sold to by the moving quote companies (lead generation is what it is ;)). The quote was also far and away less than what other companies quoted me. While the final amount ended up being about 10-15% more than the initial quote, after the movers came to pick up and adjusted the cubic feet needed for my stuff, it was STILL cheaper than the other quotes I received. Also, I needed to move VERY quickly, and the great rep Kim was able to work with me to get my stuff picked up in the super-short time frame that I had. She and the driver really made it happen for me, and she's continued to be communicative about delivery time as well. The guys who picked up my stuff were super nice, on-time, and made everything happen easily. I'm super happy with the service I've gotten so far, and I definitely recommend United. I've done a few cross-country moves before, and this has certainly been as seamless as I could ever expect, in addition to being the most affordable option. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! You WILL regret it. I moved from Cali to Florida and was told since they have local trucks, delivery would only be 7-14 days and trucks leave every 7-9 days. It has been over a month and I still don't have my stuff. They also guaranteed me a price and then charged me $300 more. I made sure to fit al my items in the 160 cubic feet allotted and yet they still said it was more and charged me tons more plus a tax that they said I wouldn't be charged. I called several times to discuss status and when it would arrive. When it didn't arrive upon the date I was told I called back and was yelled at by Ben and told it will come in a week. This process continued until I finally got a lawyer. Tami was very helpful and answered all my questions, she scheduled my move and their commitment to excellence and completing the job made the impossible happen. We had the opportunity to work with a wonderful crew from United Transportation Francisco, Manuel and Jose they packed our house last week, and it was delivered 5 days after. This moving company is terrible! Nothing but lies to earn my business. Not arriving on the day scheduled, without a phone call. This happened twice. I had to pay extra days at a hotel waiting on this ONE fool to show up in flip flops, like he is going to get me moved in the two hours before the storage closed. Then this HUSTLER in flip flops wanted to charge me 2x what I was quoted, he apparently had xray vision to know what I had in storage just by rolling the door open. Ya know I told him where to go! The logistics manager, who barely speaks English is a real piece of work. He urged me to delete my original review by promising to return my deposit that they kept. So I did! Now that I have a few minutes to repost something similar to my first review, I'll tell you to stay clear of these extortionist! Unethical business practices, cost me hundreds more dollars for additional hotel stay, and I had to hire another company to move me. It was a night mare! Moving (CA to TX) is so stressful, and dealing with this company only caused me a near mental breakdown. The best part of an otherwise rough month, was when he found missing items and took time to get them to me: photos of my family dating back 68 years, my office chair, television, and files. I had a very poor experience with one of their employees on the phone that got me really distressed. The next day I got contacted by their management team to handle my concern. They listened to me and informed me the employee in case would most likely be terminated because they do not tolerate such behavior internally. Although I wasn't thrilled someone might have lost their job I am certainly appreciative of their effort to mend the situation and make sure I would have a positive experience with them. I genuinely felt like they didn't appreciate what that employee did, so I believe their concerns were real. Sometimes companies won't know about certain issues until we actually tell them. What matters to me is the promptness and intention to fix everything quickly as they did to me, showing they care about their customers. read more

I moved with United transportation last month and I was blown away by the level of efficiency of the company. I called to see if they send someone to my house to look at everything that I am moving. I was online for few hrs reading all the horror stories about moving and I found out the best way to move is to have someone come to my house. I called and spoke with Alex, he was helpful, and he set up my appointment. Tami came to my house, she was very detailed about the moving process, called me the same day and gave me the moving price. She assured me that it was not going to change unless I decided to add additional services. I went ahead and paid her a deposit which was a bit informal for me as I never gave a credit card or paid a down payment over the phone. She emailed me the official confirmation within few minutes. The day of the move Frank, Manuel and Juan showed up on time. These guys got to work in no time and everything was packed with a lot of attention and care. They were professional, courteous, respectful. They went above and beyond to meet my moving needs and make my move smooth (even when it was freezing cold) My price did not change as Promised by Tami. Delivery was 2 weeks after as promised by Alex, everything was delivered in good condition. I must say that they will an amazing job moving me. I highly recommend them for all your moving needs. I live in Santa Barbara and moved an entire one bedroom apartment. This was on August 30th, what I'm assuming is one of the worst days to move. I lived in a large apartment complex with a winding driveway and steep hills. The boys led by Ben showed up right on time, and accommodated any discrepancies between our original quote and the in person quote done that day. They tried to find us discounts in anyway possible; through triple A, student discount, senior discount. Good people, job well done, highly recommended. P.S. The foreman, Ben, was extremely professional and as we spoke about the reason for my move, he understood how stressful any move can be, especially one under my circumstances and made it his personal duty to make sure that it went as smooth and stress-free as possible. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I didn't take the bad reviews seriously, and now I'm paying for it -- literally. We were quoted at a decent price for a cross-country move so I went with them. Worst mistake ever. First off, they were a day late, forcing us to stay at our apartment for another day and night and pay extra there, and delay our cross-country move by 36 hours. Then, when they showed up and blocked out all of our stuff in the truck, they said we had way more than our estimate and charged us an extra $800. We only had 12 extra boxes compared to our estimate and they only equaled out to another 36 square feet. Also, they seem to price it based off weight in the estimate, but then charge you for square feet. It makes no sense. So I asked multiple times before and while the movers were loading our things on the truck if I would get a discount for them being late, and I was told by the movers and by the customer service representatives that yes, I would get a discount. I signed all the paper work only because the mover told me I would get a discount before my stuff arrived. He was wrong. We asked for our stuff to be delivered in 6 days after pick up because we were told the delivery could be set anywhere from 4 to 10 days after pick up. Also wrong. After calling and complaining, and asking for my discount, I was dismissed twice over the phone and told to call back a few days later. After waiting 3 days, and getting the same response upon calling them, I had my father call instead. They were somewhat nicer to him, but not by much. But finally, after complaining for 4 days, they got our stuff on a truck to head to our destination, but still had no promise of that discount. And the guy who the representatives transfer you to when you call claimed we didn't pay enough to get our items to our destination in a timely manner. Basically he said we'd have to pay them more (bribe them) basically to get our stuff there when we wanted it. It took another week for our stuff to arrive after it finally left the warehouse, so it took 11 days, not 4 to 10. Also, they never gave me the discount. I had to pay my full amount before we could get our stuff from the truck, and the representative told me the only way we could get a discount was by making a claim AFTER we got our stuff. You GOTTA be kidding me. Oh, also, when our delivery guys showed up, they had the wrong stuff at the back of the truck. So, I left my new job early to meet up with them only to find out they'd have to come back hours later after delivering the stuff for the other family. Once we did get our stuff, many of the boxes were crunched (some of them had holes in them), one of my dressers was broken, our entertainment center was also left bent and broken, our computer desk is broken and they refused to try and put my bed back together fully because they claimed the brackets had been "bent" too much to be put back together properly. Absolutely horrible experience, I measured all my boxes and kept a great track of the items moved. They ended up charging me 120 cubic feet more than was delivered. When the truck arrived all my stuff was at the back of the truck so I was able to see exactly how much space my items took up in the truck. If the measuring tape wasn't good enough, the cubic feet were literally on the roof by every 100 ft. So it was incredible easy to see exactly how much space was taken up. So all in all I basically paid $1500 over what I should have paid for this move. Do not use this company. I repeat do no use this company. They wont do anything they say. To whom it may concern: This company is a scam, they pushed me into a deposit since I did not have a address for where I was moving to (I was in the process of getting approved for a place) The sales rep guaranteed that I would at least see 75% of my refund back. When my living arrangements feel through and I could not afford to move with United I call with-in there time frame to only be told (by the same rep) that i would not be receiving any refund because I "rescheduled" How could I if I didn't even have an address. I suggest that If you decided to move, just do it your self because this company seems to take advantage of thoses in a tight situation. To sum it up in a word: awful. Kim was my original contact. She was relatively responsive prior to the move and quoted me a move from LA to Corpus Christi, TX at around $1800. Fine. Moving day comes. Movers show up. Before they even get to my place, they've established numerous up charges because they have to walk too far or take an elevator (take the stairs then dumbass but don't charge me for making it easier). Anyway, I knew this type of stuff would happen so I let it go. The foreman saw that I wanted to move my bike which wasn't on the quote so he protested a bit. I told him, yes it's not on the quote, but several thing that were on the quote were not going to be moved so it should just be a wash. Well, I guess we don't have the same logic. Fine. After they pack up everything, the foreman tells me I owe about $700 more than what was quoted to me by Kim. I call Kim. Kim is nowhere to be found. I figure I can just straighten it out later so I let it go. Fine. Two weeks go by and I don't hear from anyone from the company. I tell them I'm ready to take possession Aug 6. I call Kim August 3. I call Kim August 4. Leave messages. Nothing. I call Kim August 5, leave a message, nothing. I finally get ahold of someone else, Anna, who helps me. Anna is wonderful and is only hamstrung in her career by her company. Anna did her best to help me out but she was at the mercy of the rudest, most sexist, horrible human being I've ever spoken with on the phone in my life. All he wants to do is yell. I'm more than happy to have a yelling contest so I shut him down...unfortunately, Anna has to work with him daily. Anyway, they tell me when they think my stuff will get there. Fine. I show up a day early. No problem. Have an air mattress. The next afternoon, I've still heard nothing. Finally, at 4pm local, they tell me they'll be there the next morning. BUT, they'll only take cash or cashiers check. I get that...I agreed to that...but Kim (remember Kim?) told me they would also accept a credit card with a convenience fee. But all of the sudden, this was no longer an option. I said ok, wait until the banks open tomorrow and I'll get your money. You were supposed to give me 24 hrs notice but whatever...now you'll have to wait. Fine. Fast forward a couple hours later and the asshole dispatcher calls me. Tells me it's gonna be an extra $375 because they have to carry shit too far and they have to take an elevator. Tells me if I pay that night, they'll move everything in and he'll waive the convenience fee. At this point, just get it done. So the guys show up at 10pm local. Move in most of the stuff, then ask if my bed needs to be put together. I said yeah, I've paid over $3500 and it was quoted you'd do that. They had no idea. They tried to put it together for awhile, using my tools (because they didn't have any), and then after they realized it was too difficult for them, they left. I was on the patio talking on the phone and they just left without saying anything. Wow. I called Anna the next day (after Kim didn't answer her phone for the 15th time) and explained the situation. She was very understanding and very helpful. She was able to arrange for the movers to come back and fix everything properly. She's literally the only competent person who works there. I honestly hope a more reputable person/business/organization reads this and offers her a job because she's far too good for this place. Well done Anna. Aside from Anna, this really is a bad company. Horrible group. Signed a contract for $1200 and they passed it onto a different group who charged us over $2300 for the same material - all in cash of course. Was to take 5 days. Took 11. No communication. Tamra at United says she too was very sad for my costs....WTF??!! She sad? They are the idiots that took my contract and passed it on without me knowing and then holding my items hostage till I paid - in CASH of course... Stay away and dont repeat my mistake. BE CAREFUL!! STAY AWAY!! I am not one to write reviews, but in this case I feel obligated to let potential users of this service understand what they are getting themselves into. To be honest, my wife and I chose this service as they were very attentive and quick to respond and what we thought was transparent prior to the move. They scheduled our pick up time to be the first pick up in the morning on a Friday and promised a dedicated truck to deliver the following Saturday morning (we were moving from San Francisco to Los Angeles). That was the first in a slew of lies from that point going forward. 1.) They did not show up Friday morning between 8-10am as promised (we have the email stating that would be the time of arrival). Instead we were told they decided to pick someone else up and drop off, on what we were told was a dedicated truck for our move. They showed up at 2:30pm (4 1/2 hours late!) and not finishing until 6:30pm. 2.) At this point they originally had the quote at $2500 and before they would leave with my belongings had me pay an extra $1,600! This is their move, misquote you to get the business and then hold your belongings hostage as they upcharge you. (We also have the email showing they misquoted our belongings). 3.) Once I was forced to pay for basically an extra move, I asked when my items would be delivered as I was promised to have them delivered the following morning. They said how since it is a dedicated truck they are driving straight down. Because of that promise I had to quickly clean the townhome we were leaving and drive down to LA which is about a 6-7 hour drive in which I finally arrived at 2:45am, in the expectation I would need to be in my new location in the morning. Wouldn't want them to charge me extra because they had to wait... 4.) Saturday, the day we get to receive our belongings! Not so fast. Somehow in our dedicated truck and move they decided to pick up another job and deliver that job on the way down. Which to my surprise was not communicated to me, but I was under the impression I would still have my belongings delivered for the agreed time given the fact that is what they were charging me so much for. Again, not so fast. I get a call from the dispatch manager saying the guys are tired and it is too late to deliver in the evening, so could I accept my belongings Sunday morning. A full 24 hours after my "dedicated" truck could make the 6-7 hour drive down to LA. 5.) I obviously had 0 say in that decision as it was already made for me and for my trouble they gave me a 5% discount, which amounted to $198 after they just overcharged me $1,600!! Sunday arrives and my "dedicated" truck arrives in the morning, but in typical fashion with this company they charge me $75 extra because I found an easy way for the guys to deliver my belongings to avoid stairs, but it was considered a "long haul." Again they would not start unloading until I paid for this amount. 6.) The communication between the dispatch manager and the gal who set the move up is nonexistent. When asking for her manager, she sends me to the dispatch manager who says they don't schedule morning pick ups and that they do not do next day moves. There is 0 accountability and they do not deal with any hard questions, they will just ignore you as they did with my emails and requests to speak to managers who could actually make a difference. The dispatch manager just blamed me and yelled at me which gives you an inside look at their customer service. Then when the woman who was scheduling and quoting our move, when she was called she would just say "let me speak to my manager and have them call you" which meant she put it on the dispatch manager who then as explained about would blame me for what was going on and saying it wasn't his fault. 7.) I do want to point out the shining star in this whole operation were the guys loading and unloading my belongings. They got everything in and out and probably the only reason they deserve a star. In the end, this was the WORST move I have ever been involved in and I have moved across the country 3 times. Those moves were SO much easier and the communication was so much better it is unbelieveable. This group basically lies the entire time and gives false expectations on how your move will go. To wrap this review up, I still have not heard from this company on how my move went, and if everything was ok and I was satisfied. I can only assume they knew I was not satisfied, but because they didn't even reach out, I felt this review was necessary. They have ignored me whenever I have asked for anything.
