Beware of the salt! I'm so sad I really wanted to like this place it has been on my list for years. I read all the reviews and saw a lot of people mention how salty it was and thought I'd give it a try. I took my mom who is really sensitive to salt which was another mistake. When I say extremely salty, and I can handle a good amount of salt, it was barely edible. We ordered the Crema di Parmigiano and Vongole. I could understand how these dishes would have some salt being Parmesan and seafood respectively, but wow this was the saltiest pasta I have ever had in my 31 years of being Italian. My mom left half her plate and I was too hungry to say anything. I do not recommend this place at all, in fact don't know how people eat here with this amount of salt. All of the reviews that mention how salty the food is are 100% accurate!!! It has a cute outdoor patio with good service, but for food do yourself a favor and choose another restaurant. read more

Came back after my first visit three days ago. We were seated at the bar, which was a fantastic experience. Chef Tony was extremely welcoming and informative. Despite being so busy and elegant with his cooking, he was able to share tidbits about the dishes as well as indulge us in lovely conversation. We ordered both the regional and classic yet again (but did get the veal broth instead of the very cheesy alternative for the regional). The broth was exquisite and tasted so homemade and comforting. The previously too salty vongole came out perfectly this time. The Pomodoro was also much better this time around. Well balanced and delectable. Chef Tony recommended the panna cotta and it was incredibly luscious, perfect texture, light yet silky. The hint of balsamic really elevates the dish. And the tiramisu remains a must. read more

Just finished eating at Uovo today. My partner and I love this locale chain and have been to this location twice since moving to the area a few months ago. Today was a fantastic experience. Alex was very attentive and friendly. The food was fantastic as always. We love the cheese and truffle tasting menu. The service all around was fantastic as well. The chef cooking our pasta was kind and explained every dish to us. The kind lady bussing our dishes was great and made sure we had fresh silverware. I've been to the Burbank location multiple times over the years but my experience with Jesse and Phillip blew every other visit out of the water. UOVO serves Italian food and aims to remain true to their traditional Italian heritage. They make fresh pasta in their kitchen in Bologna and overnight it here. They have multiple locations across the greater LA area including but not limited to Marina del Rey, Santa Monica, and this location in Pasadena. We arrived a little after 11:30am right when they opened and were able to get one of the last remaining tables. They do not have reservations so I'd recommend getting here early because there will be a wait. I got the ragú ($18) which was very good although I thought the meat was a little dry. It wasn't a typical ragú as it didn't have cheese, milk, or cream so it wasn't saucy or creamy. Nevertheless, the "sauce" was still flavorful. We also ordered the yellowtail crudo ($17) which was very fresh and I liked the hint of spice on top from the red Fresno chili pepper. The portions were slightly smaller than I would've liked but the food was good and the vibes were great. The prices of the dishes were relatively affordable with our pasta dishes ranging from $18-$25. I loved the truffle pasta, and it was actually the fan fave of the night. Wow. I was in the mood for real authentic Italian pasta but I didn't know which kind. Fortunately I found Uovo in pasadena and they had three tasting menus. We selected the Cheese & Truffle one and we were not disappointed. Each pasta was clean and so firm and flavorful. I now know what Al dente really means. I didn't eat lunch so I added the broccolini and the carbonara since I was hungry. Our server recommended the carbonara because it was one of top sellers. It was a nice show to sit at the bar and watch their boilers automatically lower and raise the pasta baskets into the water. In order, our favorites were the 1) pomodoro, 2) carbonara, 3) tagliatelle in truffle sauce, and 4) Cacio e Pepe. Don't let the order dissuade you; all were good. Will go back again. Love how there is a large counter to watch the cooks do their thing. Service is quite attentive. The food however was a big miss. With the exception of the ravioli which was absolutely delicious and the crudo, everything else was over salted and dry. The noodles were not al denté they were just not cooked enough. Every single time. And then, completely over salted. So much Parmesan that I couldn't stop drinking water. We even shared a tasting and a few more dishes. The carbonara sauce was also too dry. I can't eat pasta at many restaurants due to extensive allergies and I was glad I could eat here. My girl friend and I had such a great dinner here. We loved our food. I highly recommend getting reservations. Our wait time was an hour and it was only two of us - on a Saturday night. Parking is free on the street. It's pretty easy to find in this area. Uovo is in the corner of the square. It's next to Philz and Sugarfish, so you can't really see it when you're driving on the street. The entrance is covered in vines. At the time of my visit in December 2023, they were doing construction directly in front, so it was hard to walk/pass people. Servers are nice. Bathroom is available. They have a tasting menu available, which makes it easy for people to share and try different pastas. I didn't like the options provided, so I opted to order a la carte. I got the ragu $18, and it was heavenly. I sat at the bar, so I got to watch them make it in front of me! I think one portion can feed one and a half people. I had been looking forward to trying this place and left disappointed. While we were seated quickly, we weren't given menus and I eventually went to ask for some. I'm not actually sure who our server was as we had multiple people come to our table and I think the host took our order. We had the Regional tasting and while the pastas themselves were fresh, there was just too many things off. We went on a Monday evening and it didn't get crowded until 7pm. We had the "cheese & truffle" tasting menu for 2 @ $38/pp which included a Yellowtail Crudo (8 thin slices of fish), Tagliatelle in truffle sauce, Pomodoro, Cacio e Pepe, and a Tiramisu al cucchiaio. They brought out the yellowtail and tiramisu in one dish, to be shared. The brought each person their own portion of pasta. We also ordered the broccolini and side mushrooms. Both were great, especially with the truffle pasta. Everything was delicious and the service was fine. What wasn't great was the portion sizes. I was still very hungry when we were done. I wish they offered more options, such as a salad. Alas, the menu is pretty much just pastas. I love that they don't accept tips! That helps balance out the price/value of the small portions of pasta. The ambience is dimly lit and romantic. Fancy, but not overwhelmingly so. I've been wanting to try UOVO for the longest time so when they finally opened up in Pasadena, I decided to take the opportunity to visit them. They are located in 'The Commons', a cute English style shopping square. They took over the space that was once a smoothie shop and nail salon I think?! UOVO has a cute outdoor seating surrounded by tall green cypress trees. Their indoor seating opens up to the outside as well, so it feels like al fresco dining regardless of where you sit. We got there right when they opened so we didn't have a long wait time. The waitress was very patient and helpful. We ordered 3 different pastas and they were all tasty. The entrees are portion controlled so the food is a good amount. We ordered the truffle tagliatelle, amatriciana, and the carbonara. All were delicious but the amatriciana was my personal favorite. Parking is abundant on the street and there are also lots across the street for 90 minute free parking. 10/10 and I would definitely come back to try something new again! read more

Ambience is dim lit and romantically perfect for date night We opted for The Classic tasting menu for $34 per person. This came with one shared appetizer (yellowtail crudo), 3 full sized pastas to share, and one shared tiramisu dessert. The yellowtail crudo was fresh and the sauce was tasty. The noodles were cooked perfectly al-dente and the sauce was delicious as well. However for the price, I expected more food and we both left hungry. I wished there were some protein in the pastas besides some mini clams. Additionally, it was a bit odd that when I asked for no Parmesan garnish on one of my pastas, they told me they couldn't leave it out and "alter the recipe". For dessert - the tiramisu was good but it was weird to share the one cup. If I didn't go with a close friend or significant other I'd definitely feel a bit awkward. Their max capacity is 31 guests and the host assured us it would really be like an hour because people don't really stick around. Holy cow, they all stuck around because we waited a little over 2 hours! Once it was our turn, we were seated at the bar. Bar seating does not usually bother me, but Uovo's set up was really uncomfortable. The bar itself was very thick and the bar stools were much closer than we were used to. We both bumped elbows with our neighbors. We ordered the Cheese & Truffle which was a tasting menu split between two people. - Yellowtail Crudo - light and refreshing - Tagliatelle in Truffle Sauce - truffle was overpowering and the pasta was undercooked. Yes, it is al dente, but borderline right before al dente. - Pomodoro - SALTY. - Cacio e Pepe - oddly my pasta was cold even though they cook in front of you. The chef from the other side brought it over to us in split plates though, not the chef that had served our first two pasta dishes off the pan into the dishes. - Tiramisu al cucchiaio - NO. FOOD The tasting menus are a great option. There are three tasting menu options to choose from but you basically just choose 3 pastas. They give you 3 full size but split them each onto two plates since it's meant for 2 people. If you don't care for the starters and dessert, just order the pasta by itself. I think they forgot about us outside and we waited on our second pasta for 20+ minutes (which never happens). Our waitress never came by and I think she forgot to tell the chef to start our second dish. When a different waitress checked in on us, we expressed how we were still waiting on a dish and within less than 5mins the dish was there. AND on top of it they tried to charge us for another dish we did not even order. When we questioned the manager he sort of kept contradicting himself. He explained they added the dish to the bill because it was a tester and our second dish took long because it was put on hold? Maybe we just came on a bad night? Came here on a Monday noon. We did not have to make any reservations and there were plenty of seating available. We were greeted and seated right away. We were offered indoor or outdoor seating; we chose to sit outside as it was a nice day. They have heat lamps outside, so it was not cold. Service was ok (4/5): staff were friendly, but they did not come by to ask my friend if she would like more wine. We told them several times to not take our plates that we were using to share the food and they did. Food (4/5): Overall, their noodles/pasta were very delicious. Minus 1 star because every dish felt like something was missing. We tried the cheese-truffle sampler ($37/person), which cannot be ordered for only 1. This sampler came with the following... 1. Yellowtail Crudo (3.5/5) The yellowtail fish was fresh. It was coated lightly with olive oil and chili flakes. Overall, not a lot of flavor. It just tasted like eating fresh fish 2. Tagliatelle noodle with Truffle Sauce (4/5) The noodle texture and consistency was absolutely delightful. It's definitely made fresh and not store-bought. The truffle flavor was strong and each bite was a creamy joy. Minus 1 star because they used truffle oil rather than real truffle pieces. It also would've been better if there was a slice of beef or pork. 3. Pomodoro (3.5/5) A fancy spaghetti is what this dish reminded me of. The tomato base sauce was fresh and slightly acidic. The parmigiano-reggiano cheese added a slight creamy touch to it. It felt a bit too simple. Wish there were basil, mushroom or even the option to add protein with it. 4. Cacio e Pepe (4/5) Creamy egg noodle with a moderate spice kick from the black pepper. Minus 1 star because it felt like it was missing something (ie. pork) 5. Tiramisu Cucchiaio (5/5) A very nice, but small cup of tiramisu. It was not too sweet. The flavor was on par. We also ordered a couple other main/side dishes to share. 1. Carbonara (5/5) This is basically the COMPLETE version of Cacio e Pepe. Remember how I said it was missing something earlier? Well guess what, this dish comes with the missing pork (Italian guanciale). The crispy pork was just what the dish needed to give it that extra savory crunch. I recommend ordering this in place of the Cacio e pepe unless you are vegetarian or do not eat pork. 2. Battuta di carne (2.5/5) This is their version of 100% grass-fed wagyu beef tartare with olive oile and parmigiano-reggiano cheese. Of everything we ordered, this was our least favorite because it was significantly lacking in flavor. It would've been better with black pepper/chopped capers, an egg on top to add creaminess, parsley/mustard seeds for that spice kick. Overall, we had a good experience. Food was for the most part, enjoyable, but it does have room for improvement. I do recommend this place if you are in the area and craving noodles/Italian pasta. read more

Would have been nice if the hostess had remebered to tell our server we were here for our wedding anniversary. Our meals were delicous.
