We've only been there once so I can't give overall 4 or 5 stars yet. That said, the service and food were quite good. The place is a quaint historic building in the heart of Frederick. No parking except for on the street or down the street at the two nearby garages. Our server was very pleasant and didn't rush us out or through the meal so we were able to actually relax and enjoy the meal. The single appetizer we ordered took a while but once brought out was tasty. They were the empanadas and we ordered two types. Very small and 3 per order just an FYI. Entrees in our group ranged from the pork chop to various seafood and all were tasty. One of the side dishes on a couple entrees was the caramelized onion pasta....very good. I plan on adding this to my home dinners. The place is casual so no need for dress clothes although whatever you wear is up to you. The atmosphere is nice although the place can get loud when busy making it hard to hear tablemates sitting more than a few feet away but as with conversations it tends to be various noise levels during the visit. Prices are a little steep in my opinion so definitely not a place we can patronize often. For two of us with two drinks & two entrees it was $166 and another couple at our table took care of the appetizers and no one had dessert or coffee or extras. Keep in mind we ordered dishes like swordfish and other usually pricey foods but most run between 35-45 dollars give or take. We considered it a treat. Overall, fun place to visit. I would like to try Brunch as it looks tasty and a little less pricey too. Would definitely return again in the future. read more

My girlfriend and I stopped in for dinner during their soft opening. They were still working out some kinks I'm sure, so it may have improved since I visited. I got the sausage dish with the potato purée. The rest of the dish was wonderful, but the sausages were all a little burnt on one side. The flavor of the sausage was underwhelming, which was upsetting being that it was the centerpiece of the dish. The sautéed grapes and onions had a fantastic flavor to them. My girlfriend got the Salmon pasta which was good but a little too salty, and was heavy on the capers. We got an eclair to finish off the meal, which was very good. Overall, the food was good, but over priced. Considering the vast amount of restaurants in Frederick, I would not spend my money here again unless the food improved or the prices dropped. read more

This new French bistro is really a BIG bright spot in downtown Frederick. It is beautifully restored and one of the nicest restaurants anywhere. The menu is simple with high attention to detail. All very authentic ingredients & preparation techniques. Wonderful, crafty cocktails. I would say the wine list needs a little work, but I'm quite picky here... They are still very new and working on staffing/service. However, the owners are always there and understand what they need to address. Please do not let this keep you from going. Whispered his words so couldn't understand him. Just stared at us really weird. Ordered their eggs Benedict. Asked for it poached medium. Came out with an omelette. Told them I didn't order the omelette. Came back with eggs Benedict that was so runny they must have cooked it in ten seconds. They charge 18 dollars for this pitiful meal. Turned out the table behind me ordered the omelette. They took the omelette back to the kitchen and immediately brought it out to my neighbor. Not sure I would want to eat an omelette that had just been placed under my face with Covid, etc. Forgot to mention we ordered French onion soup which was good but it took 30 minutes to bring it out. Was there one other time and service was about the same. I had their duck special medium rare. It came out well done. Wait staff is not attentive. They are not trained well. We also had the traditional eggs Benedict which was delicious and the potato wedges were some of the best I have eaten. I've been here three times now and each time my service has been horrible. I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but it just kept getting worse. The food is fine, but not worth the price/enduring the service. The ambience however is lovely. My biggest complaint is the woman manager. She was hideously rude to my friend when she had an issue with her check. I have never seen someone treat a customer that way. At 40 min I went in and asked for two glasses water. At one point my husband comment to the owner about the service. He only remarked that it wasn't fast food. Obviously it isn't. The cherry on top was the table next to us, who came over 40 min after us, got their food before us. My steak was pretty good to be honest. I liked it a lot. My husband's food was hardly even warm.... And considering the table next to us had ordered the same dish. The server didn't address it. I also watched him bring items out to other tables seemingly at random. Over all the evening was really shitty because of the service and stated an argument over asian racism vs shitty server that I'm still living with the day after. It's ruined the weekend. The handpicked, lovingly restored antique furnishings, authentic french marble tables and exposed brick walls set the scene but pale in comparison to the culinary excellence. I have tasted crab cakes in all my travels, and the owner's wife recipe exceeds all expectations. A must for the crab aficionado. A perfect mushroom and gruyere omelette followed by a delicate, warm almond croissant had us thanking our stars we stopped here! Even the tomato garnish was superb. Best tasting tomato I ever had, truly. Our server was dignified and professional, the owner personable and a wealth of i formation on the restaurant history. You can tell this is a labor of love and a showcase for his wife's delectable home recipes. This should be your FIRST and or last stop in Frederick. We walked by yesterday and they were open for delivery and take out. Spoke ( at a distance) with an owner Francis. Decided to order today. Spoke to Michelle the other owner who is a chef. Shrimp and Grits were fantastic. Don't expect an over spiced Cajun version. This is grilled shrimp in a velvety tomato base. Creamy and well balanced garlic and cheese with perfectly cooked coarse grits. My husband had Beef Bourguignon. Beef was flavorful perfectly cooked. Sauce had pearl onions, large chunks of mushrooms and carrots over smooth buttery potatoes and snappy green peas. Even sides of sautéed spinach and frites well executed. Not to mention the croissants and eclairs. Just that this is much more than a patisserie and coffee cafe. This meal was a surprising and welcome respite from our home cooking and routine takeout. Food was good but do not insult my intelligence. The first thing the waiter tells you is that your food won't come from a bottle. My nova smoked salmon came from a canned salmon and bottled cappers (I haven't seen un bottled cappers), please do not try to fool the fine palates. But my husband asked what was the caught of the day, which the waiter responded quickly "Hallibut", then he proceeded to ask for the price since everything seemed to be overpriced. The waiter DID MOTHER KNOW the price, so it took another 20 minutes to talk s the price snd bring our drinks. Well I have asked for a wine believing my plate will come soon. Well then my husband ordered his dish and took about 30 minutes for our dishes will come out. My wine was consumed as an apperitive then so my husband and I asked for another set of drinks wish they came almost towards the end of our meal. Then at the end the owner came out to check how everything went. My husband was extremely polite and was raving about the food. But I was plain genuine and told him about all the impasses and uncomfortable experience, and then he started bluffing lot of excuses that won't convince a conocedor of fine dining. If he think his excuses are truthful then this gentleman should not own a restaurant because he doesn't have a clue of what fine dining is. We had a reservation and were seated on arrival even though downtown Frederick was very busy and the restaurant was packed. The servers were very quick to take care of us. The building is very nice. All the food was extremely tasty and well cooked. I got the french onion soup to start (one of my favorites) and theirs didn't disappoint. For entrees I got the sausage and it was very nice. So very disappointed in the service I received today. I had been in once previously for mother's day and had a good experience. Today I brought my husband for brunch, we sat at the bar. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with a side of roasted potatoes (cubed potatoes). Our orders came out and I had received chips on the side, I didn't make it a big deal, I simply told the server who ran our food that I had ordered roasted potatoes as my side. Our server then approached and asked if everything was okay.. I relayed the same that I just needed my side of potatoes that I had ordered. She made a disgusted face and had to check her book for what she had wrote down. She then said "oh" after she realized the mistake. She made no apology and called over the manager. I thought service would improve... WRONG. The manager said "Well do you really need another side of potatoes" in such a judgmental tone. I would like to receive what I ordered please??? My friend and I stopped in here for drinks and desserts. We were excited to try the eclair, chocolate cake and macrons. A waitress greeted us and we asked if we could sit at the bar and she said sure! There were others at the bar being served. We looked over the menu and picked out what we wanted, and then waited... and waited... and waited. No one came up to us after that initial waitress. The woman behind the bar served the woman next to us her entree and then moved on to something else. She gave another couple sitting at the bar their bill, and we for sure thought she'd come to us next, she did not. She grabbed a plate of food to bring to a table in which she had to walk directly by us, we made eye contact and I thought for sure she'd come over after dropping of the food, but once again, she did not. We tried a few times to get her attention but she seemed to deliberately avoid us. I'm not really sure why we were being snubbed; we were dressed nicely and not causing any sort of scene. After 15 minutes we just got up and left. It was incredibly bizarre as there wasn't even any sort of "give me a few minutes" or any interaction with us whatsoever. It was midday Saturday and there were definitely people but it wasn't overly busy to the point where we couldn't have been served or at the very least acknowledged. Had dinner there last night and it was challenging for sure. Extremely slow service, our drinks were so small- waiter said they're allowed 2 oz only. Dinner took 3 hours- we waited over 20 min for drinks, and an hour for the main courses. Lamb was room temp at best, rockfish was overcooked and dry, etc. Waiter forgot soup spoons, delivered the wrong entree to one of us, forgot the side veggies that were ordered, forgot spoons for the coffee. Owner brags that the chairs are old and original, but wow they are so uncomfortable and for 3 hours! Won't go back or recommend to any friends. read more

AMAZING!!! What a gem in downtown Frederick. Heard about this restaurant from owner of Tiara Day shop while doing some shopping with my sister in-law. So glad we came in. Michelle (owner) greeted us with warm and friendly arms. We ate off the light fare menu, each of us had cup of soup, she had creamy tomato soup and I had onion soup. Entree she had the shrimp salad on baguette and I had hanger steak baguette, we split an order of fries. For dessert she had the almond tart and I had the chocolate. Everything we had was incredible and well worth a trip from Germantown, MD. Beautifully decorated, made you feel like you're in Paris. We have been supporting this restaurant throughout Covid by ordering carry out and more recently regular visits to dine in. We went with friends to eat dinner last night and ordered the onion soup which tasted bland and asked the waiter if we could return the soup (which was my entree with salad). The waiter kindly accommodated us but then the owner, Michelle, came to our table and began chastizing me and saying "no one has ever returned my soup" repeatedly, and seemed to take it very personally. Everyone at our table was shocked and embarrassed. We left and went to another nearby restaurant, Thatcher and Rye, and had delicious food and polite service. This experience left much more than just a bad taste in my mouth and we will never return. read more

Came for a late dinner on a Saturday night and the food was ok, but I felt like I was paying for the ambiance inside and not for flavor, value or quality. The atmosphere outside the restaurant was a WHOLE different story. We could hear the loud music blasting from the club across the street and we were actually afraid to walk back to our car as a massive fight had broken out at the club as we were leaving. At least 15 completely intoxicated people were blocking the intersection and screaming at each other. As I understand it the restaurant also offers rooms as a B&B and I would be utterly terrified to stay there. Maybe it's better suited for a breakfast or lunch spot, but I doubt I'd go back to find out with so many other more appealing options Downtown. read more
