Honestly, I rounded up to 4 stars. It was more like 3.7/3.8 because service was a bit slow and not very coordinated. But our food once served was excellent! French toast came with warmed maple syrup and they were able to separate all the toppings since our little one is in the phase when they do not like different foods touching. The fried oysters were light and NOT greasy at all. I liked them without the sauce but we kept the sauce for the fresh fried potato chips. Which were amazing! The charcuterie plate was full to the brim with so many goodies (see pictures). The duck appetizer was topped off so high and drizzled with the most delectable refreshing vinegrette. Really loved the apple with the duck. Overall all a great meal with the family.

35 minutes to get ordered drinks (one at a time for 3 people), another 15 minutes for a cup of soup and another minutes 25 for lunch. It was totally frustrating as our server is washing glasses, owner talking up some other customers. It was poor service. Truly disappointed. Salads were okay, nothing to say come back. I really wish I could leave more happiness here, but the restaurant was NOT busy and just average.

Another hit for downtown Frederick. Went to this restaurant for brunch and honestly could have found something for each meal of the day. The ambience is upscale modern French and the menu can be a bit pricey, for good reason. Large portions of delicious fresh food. Paola was our waitress and she gave great suggestions to try, including a really good sparkling rosé that was light and smooth. Two of us got brunch items while one got the Cesar Salad with Salmon and we all cleared our plates. The 3 egg omelettes were very fluffy and not over stuffed with our toppings. The roasted potatoes were perfectly roasted with a delicious dill crème to dip in. For dessert we got the Pan au chocolate croissant and it was small but tasty. Overall, I would go back for another meal and try some of their craft cocktails.

I knew nothing about this restaurant when I went in on a Friday night, only that we needed hot coffee if we were going to walk outside in the cold to see Carroll Creek's winter light boats down the street. Up On Market let us order coffee and latte to-go and while waiting my father and I realized we'd discovered something by stumbling in. There's a lot of history here in the building. And we met the owner who brought more history to life -- he's put so much of himself into this restaurant and adjacent inn too. His wife is a chef. With one look at the menu it was clear this was a quality French bistro. We decided to go back for dinner the next night with friends. Good French food has the best curated dishes. Our group shared the fillet and crab empanades, small appetizer bites of goodness, enough to leave you wanting more. I had a cup of a satisfying vegan asparagus soup (we were told the French onion and the mushroom soups are excellent). I decided on the veal française main course which was amazing, tender and with a perfect sauce. I had a glass of Sauvignon blanc, trying a mild NZ sample before switching to a traditional full-bodied one. Then for dessert I ordered affogato, one of my favorite things, a decaf espresso with a dollop of vanilla ice cream in it, yum. I think I had all the courses, haha, and my stomach was happy, not overburdened. I couldn't believe how excited I was about their food. I hope to try more of their extensive menu soon! Really good, friendly service and inviting upscale vibe. It was easy to find street parking close-by.

Francis and Michelle always welcome me into the restaurant and the food is phenomenal. The atmosphere is so nice. It's not too loud and has a eclectic urban feel, yet cozy. Tonight I had the black striped sea bass with delicate savory cream sauce paired with a Bruno Giacosa - Nebbiolo D'Alba. Francis recommended this wine and it complemented the fish perfectly. The cream caper sauce was unbelievable and what I really enjoyed was the sweet onions in the pasta. Probably the best meal I've had! Topped off with a grasshopper! Highly recommend to anybody that wants a culinary experience.

This is a lovely french restaurant tucked in the middle of downtown Frederick! Overall the food, customer service, and ambiance were A+. The price point vs. portion size is where the 4 stars really come from! our bill was an astounding $350+, and it was only 4 of us with 1 entree per person, 2 appetizers, 6 macarons, and maybe 1-2 drinks per person...so you do the math! However, another star is knocked off because as I was inquiring about their french 75 drink, Mr. Frances (the owner) offhandedly asked me my age...which was super awkward and felt inappropriate. I immediately responded "are you asking for my ID?", because I was unclear of his intentions. You don't ask any grown woman her age, let alone in front of an audience. He replied "no". However, he then awkwardly started to ramble on about how he had 2 others customers (who were black..not stated, but implied) who both looked in their 40s, but were in fact mother and daughter, and the daughter just turned 21; and how he was so surprised by her age. This did NOT clarify why he specifically asked me my age, and his story was cringy. Additionally, my entire table already ordered their drinks, and no one else was asked their age. Thankfully, our server stepped right in, and pretty much made it very clear that if Im expected to show my ID, then my whole table needed to show their IDs. immediately Mr. Frances changed his tone (....side eye). Ultimately, He ended up being very personable, but I think that was to compensate for his inappropriateness. btw, I was the only person of color in my party..so let's be clear and fair, so there's no misunderstandings of anyone's intentions. Overall, I recommend...because the food was quite delicious and our service (outside of that awkward moment) was impeccable!

It has a well-deserved top notch reputation. Given the restaurant likely seeks opportunities for improvement, the following details are offered..... 1) Hard seats, though padded, became uncomfortable over time. By the end of our two - hour seating, we were more than eager to get up and go. An unnecessary distraction. We'll bring our own set cushion next time. 2) Water glasses smelled off. It's not the water as the odor remained in glasses used for bottled water. Based on experience, we guessed a dirty dishwasher was to blame. 3) A pesky fly was with us the entire meal. Perhaps it was more than one fly, yet it was surprising for indoor seating. A minor distraction, but surprising. We'll be back.

The Brasserie, though less formal, is equally as fine and equally as tasty. Plus, you have the option of sitting outside either on the patio or in the inside/outside covered area.  Wherever you sit, you will be happy and very well fed.  The evening we dined, we tried to hold back from eating too much of the super yummy garlic toast and cottage cheese that is always brought to the table at the start of your meal.  It is super good and so tempting to keep on munching but there is so much other good food on the way.  The Caesar salad is crisp and the portion is big enough to share if you are guarding room for the amazing grand marnier souffle which you order at the start of you repas to savor at the end.  My favorite entrée is always the bouillabaisse.  The broth is so amazing and it is filled with seafood. Another favorite is the duck (confit de canard) that is a special on Sunday. Again, save some space for the souffle which is served tableside and worth every calorie.

We went at 4:30pm on a Sunday night when it wasn't too busy. Our waiter was very nice and came frequently to our table to check on us and asking if we needed anything. You can also make reservations online. Since the restaurant is located in a mountain area, I had no reception or internet. All the dishes we had were pretty good. They start you with warm complementary bread with butter. The filet mignon was our favorite dish with soft meat and mashed potatoes. The sauce was a little sour to complement the meat. The linguini in the seafood linguine was cooked soft so it's good for little kids, but if you would like it more al dente, you'll probably have to let them know. There were 3 mussels, 2 scallops and several shrimp all cooked well. The green beans were cooked so they were still crunchy. Some of mine were a bit too undercooked for me. There as a good amount of meat in the veal and pork bolognese over pappardelle. The noodle were cooked well and long. The Maryland crab soup was part of the daily dinner special. Wish there was more crab in the Maryland crab soup since I saw a lot of vegetables. It was pretty spicy which wasn't noted on the menu. The crème brûlée was cooked very well. Crispy sugar top and creamy inside.

While the garlic sauce was generous and delicious, the quality of the mussels themselves was disappointing. It was cooked perfectly and paired with a very flavorful sauce. Highly recommended! * The Dessert: Finished with the coconut cake. It was incredibly moist--perhaps a touch too sweet for my personal preference, but tasty enough that I'd definitely order it again. Overall, a great find with just a minor hiccup on the seafood. It was our first year of dating anniversary but we failed to notice when looking the place up that they closed at 7:30pm. We walked in at about 7:40pm and the bartender regretfully informed us that they had just closed. We accepted the situation for the error it was on our part and opted to go elsewhere. So barely 3 minutes after walking up to the entrance, we were heading back to our truck. The chefs were still there and immediately asked us why we weren't staying to eat. When we explained that we hadn't realized they closed at 7:30, they looked at us and said, "Go back in there and tell them we said we're still open for you guys." We were a bit concerned that we'd cause hard feelings and said we could just come back a different day, and they wouldn't have it. "We're the guys who'll be cooking, not them, if we're okay with it, then what have you got to lose?" We looked at each other and thought briefly and headed back up to the entrance. I had mentioned that I had a spur of the moment 'hankerin' for German Food, and he said, "Well, you're at the right place!" Before we got back in the front door, one of the chefs (we learned shortly after were the owners) was already letting the bar staff know to get us seated and taken care of. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, and I ordered the Pork Schnitzel. We of course sampled each others' dishes and it was beyond amazing on both entrees. Some of the best schnitzel I've had NOT in Europe, and the mushroom onion gravy was so savory and rich. The Chicken was loaded with flavor and I could definitely see that being on a future order for myself. After we were beyond stuffed, we decided to split a dessert for the occasion and had the Chocolate Mousse Cake. When the bartender learned it was our first anniversary, she made sure to get a candle to put in the cake for us, it was a very nice and welcoming touch. The bar staff was on their game with the service, keeping drinks full and checking on us frequently to make sure we were good to go. There were only two other tables still seated in the restaurant at that point, and they were actually there already eating when we first arrived. They were still there when we departed, so we assumed they may have been family friends or locally important patrons. The ambiance of the restaurant has a very British Pub feel to it, and it is so amazingly cozy and feels like home. We both left with an amazing impression and cannot wait for another chance to try some of the other menu options. I'm very curious to try the Filet Mignon next time, but the Stroganoff looked quite tempting as well. I think we both found a place that we'll absolutely keep on the short list of places to revisit next time we're in town. It was such a memorable experience and we so greatly appreciated the flexibility and hospitality they demonstrated. That type of service is so hard to find these days. Beyond that, I REALLY want to try those Eclairs on a Thursday!

We were sat in the solarium area, and it was during the heat dome, and it was really warm in there. Otherwise, though, it's completely charming inside and reminds us of some of the best French bistros we've been to in the country (e.g. Balzathar, Le Supreme). The three cocktails we tried--the frose, le jardin, and the clouseau--were all stunners. And of course the bread deserves another special mention, *especially* the room temperature butter. Thank you for not serving hard as hell butter! We shared the warm shrimp salad to start, and for $31, we were expecting more than a few avocado slices and 4 shrimp on it, but c'est la vie. The dressing was incredible, and the greens were crunchy. That's actually the only dish of the night that we thought was unfairly overpriced. One of us ordered the burger and the other got the rabbit pappardelle--you've got to get rabbit when you see it on a menu, which isn't often enough! There was a good amount of super tender meat and the pasta was perfectly al dente, all in a lightly stunning sauce. Chef's kiss. The burger was, no surprise, another triumph. There was juicy meat, bun integrity, and all the right accouterment notes. The fries are standard. Our daughter got their mac-n-cheese, which is probably just the gratin dish renamed. It was OK. We kind of got out of control for dessert and ordered the pot de creme, the cookie dough ice cream, and the profiteroles. Honestly, these were all good, but nothing that stood out as exemplary as with the savory stuff. Our only major complaint was the service. It was really spotty and while there was a very, very long gap in between when we got our water and then put in our drinks, but our mains came out almost directly after the salad. And the guy was just not very hospitable. Not necessarily a "bad" experience...it just could have been a lot better. Four stars, and we have already declared that we will be back again to "The Dip" because there is so much else on the menu that we want to try.

I ordered the special- five jumbo shrimp with smoked garlic aioli. (They have cocktail sauce if you want it, but the garlic is phenomenal.) Before the main came out, the chef brought over the gazpacho using vegetables from his garden. The soup was thicker than I'm used to, but it paired perfectly with the vegetables. It was delicious! The scallops for the main were perfectly cooked and worked with the sauce in the middle of the plate and the green sauce on top of each scallop. Another winner! The lemon custard was refreshing for dessert. It's presented so well where you uncover more layers with each bite. 2) Drinks: They have a full cocktail menu with drinks named after famous people, wine, beer, and mocktails. Enjoying more sweet drinks, I ordered the "Marilyn Monroe." It was a fun drink, but a little too sweet for me. If you like berry and sweet drinks, you'll love it! 3) Service: It's excellent from start to finish. My server Tate was friendly, passionate about the menu, and efficient. His timing with everything was impeccable. 4) Space: It's beautiful. Despite on the basement level, it's lit well with photos of famous icons on the walls. It's iconic!
