Took way long just to get the order in since their "machine" was not working right. The delivery was literally 2 blocks away and there was a delivery charge. Delivery took 1 hour, 10 minutes. I called 3 times, the last one was to cancel and refund but the guy knocked just as they answered. When I called they were not understanding and responded like I was a whiner. They told me on the first call @ 50 minutes that it was "on it's way". It came 20 minutes later and again - 2 blocks away. On it's way ... riiiight.. So pizza was cold and average at best. We are from out of town, Tampa FL, but had pizza here last night, and I will say I think it is one of the very best pizzas in my life, and my wife agrees. The selection of toppings is extensive and we had 6-7. It came hot and looked absolutely beautiful, with toppings to the edge, and it ate wonderfully that night, and for lunch warmed in a frying pan the next day. Walking distance from the plaza the Upper Crust is a welcome change-up to the typical Santa Fe Southwest fare. You order and pay up front similar to the way cafes run in Manhattan. The staff seemed rushed during the ordering process but that may be because us newbies didn't know what we wanted. After ordering and finding a place to sit your food is delivered promptly, cheerfully and HOT. The pizza was delicious with near perfect crust and tangy sauce. The green chile on our "Combo" pizza provided a nice New Mexican kick. We sat on the porch dining area where a guitar player played soft folkish instrumentals, soft enough not to interfere with our conversations. DO NOT ORDER GLUTEN FREE CRUST!!!! My wife and I order the greek pizza here quite often and it's great, but recently we had a friend buy us the gluten free crust and it was atrocious! I don't know if they forgot to cook the pizza or if the gluten free option is really that disgusting. The pie showed up a floppy, doughy mess and would even hold up after toasting it the next day. If you're GF, you might as well throw some tomato paste and mozzarella on an old wet dish rag...don't waste your money. The basil I had added to the pizza was burned beyond recognition and it tasted like something that had been run over by an oven not baked in one. Why do they have to fail so miserably? I depended on them as the only non-chain pizza delivery in downtown Santa Fe. It was terrible. Overcooked and hard - tasted nothing like pizza. We drove it back to Upper Crust who gave us a refund without a hassle.
