I am disgusted with this office. Very, Very unethical. I was a cash paying patient and I went over all of the payment amounts before I booked an apt. I was super specific about coming in for a blood vessel that needed laser treatment and the area that it was being treated on. They quoted me $350 for the appointment and then $350 for each last appointment and then after I gave my card to pay they sent a shady patient coordinator to give me a quote and said it would be $950 a session. Very, very unethical. I will be reporting this office. They also refused to give me my medical records from the apt. read more

I presented to Upper West Side Dermatology in December of 2025, and unfortunately had a very negative experience with Dr. Jack Cossman. I felt that my concerns were dismissed during what felt like a rushed appointment. Due to the dismissed concerns, I developed painful complications requiring corrective action. In what I believe to be an attempt to dilute my concerns about the result, Cossman made multiple comments about how he found me, a young patient, to be physical attractive. These comments made me feel uncomfortable, and that my provider dismissed my valid concerns as a patient. Upon making my account of our interactions available on review platforms and to medical providers, Cossman responded by filing a lawsuit against me. I believe patients have the right to know as it directly impacts who they decide would be the best fit for their care -- I wish I did more research before selecting this practice as I saw past reviews stating that other patients felt dismissed just like I did. When I called the office to request my medical records, they put me on hold for over 30 minutes, and said multiple times that they would not send me my records, which is required by HIPAA -- patients have the right to request and receive their medical records. When I pointed this out to them, they disconnected the call. I do not recommend Upper West Side Dermatology or Jack Cossman and advise all potential patients to research their potential new providers in detail before making a selection to avoid these types of issues. read more

Dr. Jack Cossman, in accordance to his own medical records, deviated from standard of care and in turn resulted in months of severe pain and disfigurement. Additionally, he made me, a young patient feel extremely uncomfortable after his numerous unprofessional comments about my physical attractiveness. Parents, please don't let your kids be alone with Dr. Jack Cossman. And adults, please don't support establishments that would rather attempt to silence patients than rectify the issues they have caused. If that's not worse, they even misprocessed my insurance and nearly cost me one thousand dollars due to rushed work of the billing department. I would avoid Upper West Side Dermatology and definitely avoid Dr. Jack Cossman. He is currently under investigation of the New York Medical Board. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS DERMATOLOGIST. Their office lied to me about being under the Anthem network until March 2026 but assured me that my appointment would be covered since I went in February. I then received a $650 bill to be paid out of pocket. When I contested the claim through Anthem, I was told that the office hadn't been in network with Anthem since 2025. An incredibly dishonest office that went out of their way to dupe me into keeping the appointment so they could bill more services. Anthem also said there were a number of open cases against the practice, meaning that this is a standard practice of theirs. Save your wallet and go to someone else. read more

I never write reviews but I can't not share my experience at this office. I called way in advance of my appointment to see if they accepted my insurance- as I am not close by. They assured me they did. When I got there, of course they didn't. They were SO rude and unkind. They made a mistake and easily could have seen me, but instead told me it was my fault and that no one would see me. When the doctors heard what was going on (at the front desk) they didn't even acknowledge me. They could have easily said they were sorry, or offered to see me. Instead they ignored me completely. Their manner was exceptionally rude and I advise everyone to steer clear. I understand misunderstandings happen, but this was way beyond that. read more

Dr. Lisa Rothman is amazing. She actually remembers her patients, is quick but still thorough, and usually has availability pretty soon. She gives you options and explains different treatments instead of just assigning you one. She's also very kind and patient, especially during procedures and anything involving pain, which really makes a difference. read more

I am writing this review to strongly advise against being treated at Upper West Side Dermatology, specifically by Dr. Jack Cossman. On December 26, I sought care by Cossman to have a cyst-like body removed from my jawline. Before the procedure, I asked thorough questions about the surgery, recovery, and anything else that I may need to know. The doctor only informed me that I "should just have a small scar" in the area, with that being the main or only concern. I expressed concern about the placement of the scar (directly on the jawline) as the contour is delicate. I said I don't mind a scar but urged him to make the excision underneath the jawline or on the cheek, so the actual jawline contour wouldn't have a "dent" in it. Cossman said he knew best, and because he is the "expert", I trusted that. After the procedure, I had severe swelling, which I assumed would go down in the coming days. At my follow up appointment, I noted that the swelling was persistent, and Cossman said that I was "not swollen", abruptly ceased further questions, saying that I should just "trust him". Months go by and the swelling has only increased which is not normal. In 3 months, swelling should be gone/severely decreased. I also have painful nerve damage in the area he cut (wasn't made aware that this could happen). I was never actually even appropriately warned that I would have swelling at all, let alone swelling that persists months. At my next appointment, the doctor said he does not know what issue he caused and encouraged me to just wait it out. As a doctor, not having an understanding of a complication that you caused and that is causing a patient pain is unacceptable. Today, I am left disfigured by Dr. Jack Cossman's procedure, one that I would not have agreed to if he had properly disclosed the complications relating to the procedure. I would not trust Cossman with any procedure as risks were not properly disclosed to me, he dismissed my concerns over how it was done, and ultimately left me with "I don't know" as his answer to the complications. This shows that he will administer procedures that he does not have a strong understanding of, or how to handle complications. Additionally, I proactively checked my bill with Upper West Side Dermatology and they were set to charge my card nearly $1,000 dollars due to them misprocessing my insurance. Had I not checked, that charge would have gone through. I do not recommend Upper West Side Dermatology, and definitely do not recommend Dr. Jack Cossman for in-office procedures. read more

I'm happy to have this chance to lavish well-deserved praise upon Dr Sarah Yagerman. I first went to her a few years ago with a tormenting skin condition. I've always been wary of the medical profession, and she was a happy surprise, a doctor who was clearly intelligent and knowledgeable with an engaging, friendly manner. She made me feel confident she would heal me, and under her skillful care my condition steadily improved. Recently I went back to her for another skin problem, more complex and debilitating, the cause of which was a mystery. Thanks to her patience and resourcefulness, I'm now almost fully recovered. I owe her a second debt of gratitude. One of Dr Yagerman's rare qualities is a keen sense of humor, making a visit with her a pleasant event. Another is her concern for a patient's overall well-being. Her healing is more than skin deep, as it were. She creates a bond of comfort and reassurance by treating her patient as a person, not just a medical condition. She is the ideal physician, a graceful blending of expertise and empathy. I recently saw Dr. Yagerman for a large and bad burn on my hand. Dr. Yagerman was professional and caring. I have no issue with her. Dr. Yagerman's assistant was in the examining room and after Dr. Y examined my hand she instructed her assistant to apply an ointment, protective pad and gauze bandage to my hand. The assistant applied the ointment and pad to cover it and then handed me a roll of gauze and told me " I can finish it myself". The burn is on my right hand. I am right handed. It would have been impossible for me to finish the bandaging on my own. It involves wrapping, cutting with a scissor and taping the gauze wrapping. I asked the assistant to please do it for me. My point in writing this review is that I am mystified by how certain people do not do their jobs with professionalism and care. Why would she not finish bandaging my hand properly? In a rush? Didn't care? Whatever the reason may be, it is unacceptable. I am not a demanding and difficult patient and my expectations are reasonable and appropriate. read more

It's great when you can start your appointment with someone who smiles! At the beginning of my appointment, I saw Jessica. I really appreciated her kindness and professionalism. She immediately put me at ease. Dr. Rothman is awesome! Dr. Rothman provided outstanding care and solved my issue with expertise and empathy. This is a great practice! read more

Dr. Jack Cossman is an exceptional board-certified dermatologist. I have been seeing him for over 3 years now for common skin conditions like acne and treatments with Accutane and Retin-A, as well as cosmetic procedures such as Botox and Juvederm. I split my time between LA and NYC and I always make sure to stop by his office when I'm in the city for a rejuvenation. Dr. Cossman is meticulous and thorough in explaining diagnoses and treatment options and also has a keen eye for aesthetics. Most importantly, he is professional with a great sense of humor! I highly recommend him and I refer all my friends and friends of friends to him when they ask for a reliable and trustworthy dermatologist in NYC. My wife used Teladoc to get medication or prescription for some nail fungus issue that bothered her for years, because it's easier on her schedule and we dont know who to talk to. Sent pictures and some initial screening through Teladoc, and with our bad luck of the year dermatologist Jack Cossman from NY was randomly selected and gave us a summary that looks like a copy-and-paste from some standard documents. That's it, that's all you get for paying $85! Why give us some letter telling us what we already know, what a scam. When she followed up to ask for medication or prescription, this doctor just couldnt be bothered and gave us a "read the summary" in the messaging system. I read the summary together with my wife over and over again, it basically says go to a dermatologist. Why the hell do we need Teladoc for, basically we are back to square one. Why not inform us they cant provide dermatological treatment or advice in the very beginning. Definitely one of those low-life doctors who's only interested in scamming the system for money and not here to serve or help. If you think you dont get paid enough to provide some decent help, dont work for Teladoc. If you do, be a proper doctor. Ohhh we never seem to run out of such folks in either everyday or professional lives...this will leave a bad taste in my mouth for a while I am sure read more

I took my mother there to remove a cancer cell on her ear. That went fine but when the doctor called me to tell me my mother had cancer and had to come in to remove the growth I told them we already had been in and the job was done. We were actually having check ups that week. The doctor insisted I was incorrect and that she was reading the biopsy. I replied, I know that I took my mother in and she had the growth removed. I am applying cream on the wound now. She was rude and insistent. I asked her to check with her front desk. She got back on the phone and said all was fine. no apology or anything. This was my Second time at Upper West Side Dermatology the staff just keeps impressing me. Extremely friendly front desk with amazing customer service abilities. User friendly environment and I felt really comfortable at the office. The office itself was sparkling clean. My appointment was scheduled for 12pm and even though it was a full waiting room I was able to see my doctor at 12 on the dot. Will definitely come back for my next appointment. read more

The most obnoxious and rude front desk attendants i have ever dealing with. Specially the one who pick the phone on Abril 29th at 7pm that unfortunately I do not recall the name. I called to the office to speak with my doctor but due the late hours she was not there anymore. So I tried to leave a message with the attendant. But the girl who picked the phone was extremely rude not allowing me to say what was the matter of my phone call. The only thing she repeatedly insisted on saying (about 4 times) was that the office was closed and if it was not an emergency I should call on the next day, but in a very very very rude way.I was not even able to leave a message to my doctor. And that was not the first time I had a bad experience with their staff. They always have a sort of bad attitude and shit face dealing with the patients. The question is, if the office was closed so why she picked the phone? Just to mistreat the patients? read more
