    Lavender matcha latte
    Julie K.

Newly opened breakfast/brunch cafe. This is in the Walmart plaza in Boonton where the IHOP used to be. I was greeted by the friendly host upon entering. I told him I was dining solo and he took one look at the book in my hand and asked if I'd like a table or booth and it I'd prefer maybe a quieter spot. I said I didn't have an opinion on the table but a quiet location would be lovely. I sat down and Corrin welcomed me and asked if it was my first time dining. I said yes and she said if I had questions about the menu feel free to ask. I ordered a lavender matcha latte and an avocado toast. Both items were beautifully presented and I couldn't wait to dig in. The latte could have been a touch hotter but was still very good. I'm usually not a fan of feta, balsamic, or sourdough but I ate up the avocado toast like I was starved. The toast had a decent bread to spread ratio and the cherry tomatoes were juicy and tart. I have a feeling I'll be dreaming about this one for a while, it was that good. I didn't manage to get any reading done despite the light instrumental music playing overhead (perfect reading /studying soundtrack) but I was able to take my time eating and didn't feel rushed at all. I love that Corrin was attentive and quick with any requests I made. Also, I think more restaurants should start normalizing online payments to speed up the process of checking out. Even though I settled my check this way, it was sweet of her to come over to thank me and wish me a good day. Although prices are a little bit high, it's really not unreasonable for this area. I cannot wait to visit again to try more items on the menu. Love that I live so close too!

Came here while in the area looking for brunch on a Sunday. Glad to find this spot and it closing at 3 pm. There was plenty of parking, which is always a good thing. I was quickly seated and the waitress came to take my order. I ordered the cappuccino and the breakfast bowl with bacon. The cappucino was good. The breakfast bowl was good as well but really wished they made it with two eggs instead of one lonely egg. Plus, i was expected bacon slices, but got bacon bits instead. Also, the potatoes were a tad dry or over-fried with nothing else else (onion, peppers) with them. The salsa was good, but sadly not enough. Very nice, comfortable, chill environment.

I randomly found this place when my friends were in town and we decided to pay it a visit! The look of it inside is very much like Willow & Whisk in Wyckoff with bright lighting, minimalistic decorating& trees throughout the restaurant. Our server, the younger brother of the owner, was attentive and funny- he did a great job promoting the family business and giving us a great experience. The food was also delicious, and they had a lot of options. The only critique I have is that the coffee options tasted amazing, but were extremely sweet. We can't wait to come back!

The food is PHENOMENAL!!!! You can taste the fact that it's freshly made! While it takes a little longer for the food to be prepared, I am more than okay with it due to the fantastic taste. The shakshuka was delish! A dash of spice but mostly a flavorful spice than a hot spice. The banana walnut pancakes were large and fluffy and stuffed with bananas and walnuts. We also both got blueberry mojito mocktails that were refreshing! The building itself is very clean and open like a high class brunch restaurant. While the service is a bit slower, since they are still newer I think they are still figuring it out and hiring new people. I expect that will sharpen as they get more situated. Would DEFINITELY recommend to anyone looking for a healthier, and more higher class brunch.

This is the brand new cafe in town.. when you walk in, it feesl like a fancy cafe.. fancy cafe with the fancy machine.. and the bright decor is very inviting.. we sat down and the nice server came and took our drink order.. and we got cappuccino, shakshuka, and omelette.. they came out quickly, and they look good.. as for taste, I think it's okay... do feel the shakshuka is a bit small.. but overall, they are pretty good, spacious, service is good and quick and food is good!! Would come back again to try other items!! If you are around, give this place a try!!!

New restaurant in the Boonton area. Came to try it out with my cousin and we were pleasantly surprised at how empty it was. We were greeted immediately by two young gentleman ( one was shadowing the main server) dropped off the menus and asked if we wanted waters to start. The menu had lots of amazing options to the point where we wanted to order the entire menu but had to limit it to one option. We both ended up ordering the same dish. We both got the breakfast bowl and we ordered coffees and I got the blueberry mojito. The restaurant is big and well put together. Reminded me of first watch's layout, but they also have a private room to host a party. We will definitely be back again soon to try out the rest of the menu.

The interior is bright and contemporary with a farmhouse vibe. Plus plenty of perfectly positioned screens to watch your favorite game. The service was on point for the most part. Our server was great but I think he was working too many tables bye himself so we kinda missed the opportunity to order a second round of drinks. We are definitely adding Black Rabbit to our regular rotation. Give it a try.

[Blowing on my nails.] The menu is a mix of American comfort food and gastropub classics, but with flair, and has a bit of everything to satisfy different palates. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it. I'm salivating just looking at photos of dishes I didn't order, and am already plotting my return!

What changed? * As noted last time, this is definitely Northern style barbecue here. I had said before it's not very BBQ inside, but I'll reframe that. You still absolutely get friendly service and not a very long wait. * I said before the meats are clearly prepared previously and just warmed to the order. I don't think I'll say that again. The meats were perfectly done, moist throughout, perfectly seasoned and smoky on the outside. * When I had gotten the two-meat plate, the brisket fell apart on my fork. The pulled pork was the opposite of what I expected - in fact, I'm wondering if they gave me pork or chicken now that I think about it... but it was good. Didn't occur to me at the time, but that might explain some of the taste and appearance. * This time, I got the ribs. A half rack of ribs filled me up, and YUM. Some ribs fell off the bone a little more than others, but oh boy was that perfectly good. My parents loved their chicken and brisket. * I think they read my review about how much meat you get for what you pay. It's not cheap here, but we all felt that we got a good amount of meat, mac 'n' cheese, or whatever else we ordered. It's great when a place listens! * Last time they upcharged me a dollar to swap cole slaw for cornbread. This time they gave me chipotle BBQ instead of regular BBQ without any charge at all. So again, maybe they read and responded! Still loving the flavors, textures, sauces, cornbread, and mac. This is a winner and earned the fifth star - we're all coming back!

Full disclosure, the first time Wifey and I…read morecame here was when they first opened, we came kind of late and we didn't have the best experience, but I PROMISED myself I'd come back before reviewing because I honestly believed I just hit them on a bad night. Had a good friend recently tell me I needed to come back, so we did. Tonight we ordered a half rack of ribs, a pulled pork sandwich, and the pulled pork Mac-n-cheese. In a word, the food was fantastic. I've had BBQ in a LOT of places and also have my own smoker that I've gotten pretty good at using it so I know good BBQ...and this is good BBQ. The ribs were delicious - cooked perfectly the way the want them in competition...not fall off the bone, but with a little bite, and the flavor was great. Amazing bark on the outside with tender meat on the bone. The pulled pork sandwich was so tender and delicious that I wish I didn't have to share it with Wifey. And their homemade BBQ sauce is absolutely great...a little spice on the back of the tongue, but still sweet without being overly sweet (they have four kinds, but I only wanted the traditional). The pulled pork Mac-n-cheese was very rich but full of flavor with a nice breadcrumb topping as well. Each platter also came with cole slaw, something often overlooked by BBQ places, but not here. Very tasty, very fresh, though I think it needed a pinch of salt. I do wish we had gotten some cornbread, but honestly, we walked away very full. The service here is super friendly and our food came pretty quickly...and I really love the layout and vibe here. I spoke to the owner about how much I loved the food tonight and how it was such a difference from my first experience. I'm so glad we came back. The people behind the counter all seem to LIKE what they're doing...and that means a lot. Real BBQ places are always pricey, because you aren't paying for just the food, your paying for the hours and hours and hours of cooking it takes to get the food to taste as good as it does and to be tender. You can't take shortcuts with BBQ. So yeah, Embark isn't cheap, but if there's one thing I've discovered over the years it's that you DON'T want cheap BBQ. Embark is a BYOB place so bring your favorite beer, order some great food, and sit with friends savoring the deliciousness. I will NOT wait this long to come back again.

We were discussing burgers yesterday and Habit came up. I'd never eaten at one. He wanted one. Perfect. Pulls in at 8:45, takes a few minutes to figure out the ordering kiosk. I will therefore note this is an issue to anticipate. The order itself didn't seem to take too long. As for what came home with my friend: * Intrigued by the dragonfruit limeade. Would be something to keep in mind if I find myself at Habit again. * I enjoyed my burger. The patty was the weakest part, very plain and underwhelming. But the portabello mushroom and associated toppings? Mwah. That all made the sandwich. But the best burger places know how to make the meat score points. * My friend got the tempura green beans. Apparently those were just OK, maybe not tempuraed enough. I noticed when looking at the sides, every dipping sauce costs money besides ketchup packets (m'eh) and none of them really looked that interesting to me. So the upsides? Good value, tasty mushrooms. The downsides? Limited selections, uninspiring burger meat. I'll call it a strong 3 stars and if I do end up here (or another Habit) I will reconsider.

I just started with one of the basic 1/3 pound burgers and topped it up with tons of pickles and liquid cheese that I just love and miss so much. They have lots of different condiments as well as jalapeno cheese and some sort of horseradish mayonnaise. Definitely good choice here! Definitely planning to return in the future. Brought back some great memories of Fuddruckers from my past. Plenty of seating and place was clean.

It's a very casual, cafeteria-style spot with a semi-open kitchen, but don't let the simplicity fool you -- the food is incredible and the staff here is friendly and patient. The highlight of the experience is the small buffet that features a variety of freshly-made Latin cuisine -- including pulled pork, chicken and beef stews, and other traditional Latin entrees and sides. You can build your own plate by selecting one or more entrees and sides - which are priced accordingly. As a 'gringo' who wasn't entirely sure what everything was, I really appreciated them taking the extra time to explain all the different options and give me their honest recommendations. The counterstaff is bilingual and were pretty patient with my elementary school level Spanish vocabulary and grammar. I ended up going with the pulled pork platter with two sides ($7) and it was terrific -- the perfectly seasoned and tender pork, black beans and rice, and macaroni salad were delicious and very filling.
