I was going to the original Diner's location on Keeaumoku street where I ordered the pork adobo for the first time that was cooked perfectly and had large cubed pieces of tender pork. Some days pork adobo not available,so I order the roast pork with gravy, or the shrimp plate, or other Filipino dishes.Large outdoor seating and free parking. The next visit I called to make sure the pork adobo was on the menu.but when I ate it at work I was disappointed at my lunch.The pork was shredded and stringy,it didn't look like the meat I was used to. And the taste was off and didn't taste anything like adobo and I thought they had my order wrong.On my next visit there I made sure that I ordered the pork adobo.Sure enough it was the same stringy meat. Diner's Drive-In was my go to place for pork adobo.They have many delicious dishes here but I didn't want anything else because I thought Diners Drive-Inn had the best pork adobo on the island. If you want the best pork adobo ion Honolulu ,don't come to Diner's Drive In . Maybe the cook was moved to the new location to open the King street place,but I haven't gone there and not find the pork adobo I loved. read more

Was underwhelmed to say the least. After looking at their never ending menu, I settled for the chicken katsu and meat jun mixed plate. Now they give two scoops of rice so that they can put less meat (not sure if it's because we went at night). The chicken katsu was alright but the meat jun was a little mushy and sweet for my taste. I take a liking to Soon's meat jun in Salt Lake if you know where that is. My mom got the fried noodles and teriyaki beef. The fried noodles were a bit oily and the beef was okay. Even though it's cheap, I would rather pay a couple extra bucks to go to a different place to get a better quality meal. Service was pretty good though. read more

I don't get it? My daughter wanted hot dog and this place has 'chili dog on bun'. When I ordered I asked for the chili on the side but the cashier said 'no cannot'? Like wtf seriously? Isn't it the same thing as if I order a steak plate and you ask me how do I want my steak to be cooked and whether it was medium rare or well done it's still considered steak? If I could leave ZERO stars I would. We ordered two plates. We know they normally take awhile to make their food but they seemed swamped... but when I realized we were waiting nearly 45-60 mins for our food and orders made after ours were being called I went to check and they said SORRY, THERE WAS CONFUSION with your order??? I watched the girl check the tags and she couldn't find ours meaning they LOST our order or gave it away... so we had to wait even longer because they didn't even start it yet. They didn't even offer a free drink or simple fries to compensate for waiting an HOUR for two plates. Not to mention we ordered fries and they said we couldn't because their air fryer wasn't ready... yet All Of the orders after ours had fries. Won't be eating here ever again. Poor service. I ordered the turkey plate today that cost $10.25 plus tax. It was horrible! There were a few scrap pieces of turkey smothered in gravy on top of small pieces of sliced bread that I suppose is their version of stuffing. The plate felt so light that I thought they made a mistake and gave me fish....but no when I got home it was turkey and the worst one I have ever eaten. I will Never go there again. read more

I would like to say that recently (last year) this place was great, but the last couple times we went there with the "new sign" and slightly changed menu, this place went downhill. Last time we were there the cashier was not pleasant at all, we ordered a pork adobo plate which was listed on the daily menu, and she said they only have chicken adobo, I told her it says right here, pork adobo, but she chose not to even acknowledge the sign, so I told her she should erase it. So we ordered chicken adobo, pork cutlet, and a cheeseburger with fries, 2 drinks and bottle water. Order came out shoyu chicken, pork cutlet, hamburger with fries, and 2 drinks. We took the shoyu chicken back and said we ordered chicken adobo, she says their out and that's all they have-why we were never asked about substitution earlier??? Why were they out if it WAS their daily special and she was pushing it??? She exchanged the hamburger for a cheeseburger, and she said we did not order bottled water, so I purchased a water. The pork cutlet was too salty, but we gave up already, lunch was ruined!! Ordered the mix plate Meat Jun and Chicken Katsu. The meat jun was completely spoiled. Unfortunately, I had to spit it out after taking a couple of bites. Also, the smell was very pungent. On the brighter side, chicken katsu was quite delicious. Won't be coming back here for future orders. read more

Food was good but very upsetting at my fish. I ordered the bento#3 and it was the side of my pinky finger. I guess they use frozen fish from bags and fry them for the bento. :( I was very sad because I was looking forward to the fish with my bento. Aside from that every this was good. So my husband is old school Kalihi and has never strayed from his usual (cheeseburger and fries), they have a sauce that is so delish on their burgers and the burger meat itself is hand made patties. Soft, juicy, and yummy! I try various menu items and haven't been disappointed. They also have bubble tea drinks and orange bang (yum!). Sorry I didn't take photos of everything but last week I went and saw an extension of the menu to the left. I decided to order a tempura ahi sushi roll. And OH MY it was sooooo good. The portions were average and did fill me up and the sauce is a sweet spicy sauce. I asked for a container of sriracha hot sauce and it made the overall spicyness perfect when mixed with the sauce they gave. I'll take photos and repost next time I buy that plate.
