We had a great meal here last night. The garlic knots were delicious and definitely had garlic flavor. Our cold sub was great and the pizza was too. The pizza is not greasy like so many other NY style pizza places and the sauce ratio is just right. There is only 1 server on the patio which was crowded, but we didn't find ourselves waiting an unreasonable amount of time. Plus we enjoyed a drink and the live music while we waited. We went earlier, about 6 pm, and did not have a problem walking right up to a table, but by the time we left there was a large crowd waiting for tables. Go early if you can! read more

Our friends ate here while visiting us and said the food and service was good. My wife and I decided to try it and well we were not happy. The food is really good but the two stars is due to it taking almost 45 minutes to make a pizza. I assume since they b thought we were tourists it would be ok. We were really looking forward to having great pizza during our stay here and placed an order online for delivery as we are staying at an Airbnb. The pizza arrived as a plain cheese pizza when we had ordered and paid for toppings in the online order. We were too tired and hungry to try to call to correct the situation. The pizza was pretty good although slightly bland, large slices and I liked the crust. The sauce was too thick and sweet for my taste. Probably wouldn't order from this place again, I think they could do better. read more

The driver on the trolley tour bus recommended Borrillo's Pizzeria so my wife and I went there. They were having a bad day. The lady taking orders was kind and professional. The major problem was the cook. The cook was angry and cursing and complaining. Apparently, he was running out of cheese and the person who normally places the order for cheese was not available. The cook was threatening to leave once the cheese was gone. The restaurant was not very crowded, but it was taking a very long time to fill orders. One couple asked for their money back. They complained about the long wait and the cursing. I was about ready to ask for my money back and leave too, then the pizza arrived. The pizza was ok. The soda machine was not working. They were serving soda from 2 liter bottles. My wife's soda had an odd taste. The soda was replaced and the 2nd was not bad. I prefer locally owned restaurants to chain restaurants. I feel like a fatty fat-fat as I acknowledge this, but I've gone through two of these cards in the last year and a half. There's a coupon on Yelp for this place. It's not valid and the owner was 100% opposed to giving anyone any sort of discount. I asked him about it and he basically laughed in my face. Service isn't the greatest. All the employees just seem angry at the world. To top it off the pizza wasn't good at all. I've been there twice. The first time my pizza was way undercooked and the second the pizza was completely burnt on the bottom. Bottom line, not a great experience. Well, it's no Pizza Time. The salad, which came in a to-go container even though we ate in, was mostly sad bottom ends of iceberg lettuce. The dressing was nothing to write home about. Garlic bread was greasy and flavorless. And the pizza, I can't even remember what we got on it. It was that unremarkable. The girl who took our order was rude and unhelpful. Laying in bed on a lazy Sunday morning, my fiance was trying to inspire me to get out of bed. Borrillo's did the trick, but he had to agree to throw on a hat and go. We were in the car in ten minutes. I would say it's more like 3 1/2 stars, but I'll round up instead of down in this case. We split a large pizza with pepperoni, green pepper, and garlic. As we sat waiting for our pizza to come out, I observed what the other reviewers were talking about: it's a small place. But it's worth vying for a booth. Our pizza arrived piping hot. It was yummily greasy and dripping with cheese. The foldable slices quickly started to disppear off our pan. We took the last two pieces to the counter to be packed to go; they don't let you do it yourself. I don't know if it would be worth the drive every time, but it definitely got us out of the house on a beautiful afternoon and I can see us stopping by if/when we're in the area again. read more

I was swayed to come here because of the Yelp ratings. Wrong! This place only has 9 tables, so if you come at the wrong time, you'll stand. It seems it's an owner-run business. The husband and wife run the place. The service is slow. People that cane way after us got items we ordered before us. The pizza I got didn't have all the ingredients I ordered. Do it the Italian way, order it with only one or two toppings and taste the crust!! Margarita with fresh basil and no Ricotta is the best. I hate to give a bad review to a locally owned place, but in this instance its really deserved. Firstly, I dont care how much you proclaim you are a NY pizzeria and how many neon signs you have on your windows, if the only basil on your pizza margherita comes dried out of a shaker then you are doing it wrong. Its not that hard to source nor that expensive to buy fresh whole leaf basil. Secondly, the meatball app isnt made in house. Frozen meatballs with sauce poured over the top. Thirdly when I ordered at the counter for a meal and there was a tip jar, then I expect service in return for said tip. Like checking to see if I need drink refills and such especially when the restaurant isnt that busy. I guess they will do alright with the tourists who stumble into the place, but as a family who just relocated to St Augustine we will never be back in again. read more

The prices at this place are very reasonable considering you are almost in downtown St. Augustine. The food was delicious and they have a lot of specials. It took a bit of time to get our food and it was rather warm in the restaurant but other than that I would go back. read more

While driving around town we passed this place and took note. I looked up the reviews and liked what i saw. My wife and I had eaten several big meals while visiting and just wanted something small on the last day in town. We went in for lumch and was not very hungry so we ordered two slices of pepperoni. It came out fresh and hot, not too crispy, and was delicious. It is a small place but worth finding a seat. I do regret one thing and that is not going in with more of an appetite, I really wanted more that one slice. read more

I was set on a slice of the more premium pizza but the pizza-by-the-slice was listed on the sandwich board near the counter. Sadly, the premium pizza was not on it. Rediscovery of a great local establishment - Borrillo's Pizzeria We've been to Borrillo's many times over the years and always had a great experience! Now that we've gone through the pandemic and nightlife is coming back, we are re-experiencing a fantastic local spot in St Augustine! Their outside Beer Garden has been expanded and upgraded and they are bringing in many of the great local St Augustine musicians - having music most nights of the week - as well as a karaoke night. The Beer Garden is a great place to enjoy the fresh air, food, drink, and great music! They also have dining options inside for those who prefer indoor accommodations. The food - as always - is still exceptional! They also have healthy options for those who are on certain diet restrictions. One new addition is the Cauliflower crust pizza on the menu - nice thin crust, and exceptional taste! Great options of appetizers, salads, Italian entrees, and a wide variety of pizza options. Of course good beer options and good selections of Italian wines available. This is one of the great "locals" hangout, as well as visitors coming through the area! The owners are usually always there and mingling in the crowds - sharing smiles and stories! Just happened to find this little Jen while out sightseeing. We were so hungry and found the best pizza. We had a big antipasto salad which was big enough for 3 maybe 4 people, and a large plain pizza. There was nothing plain about it though. It was delicious!!
