Ok I hate the kind of people that leave Yelp reviews but these guys are awesome and I gave them a hard time so I'm going to say a few good things: Nick and Phil are the best- super friendly guys and very good at what they do. Phil gave me a ride to work in the morning which was nice. My brother is in the industry so I had him check a few things related to pricing, labor, etc. (I feel like you have to be somewhat aggressive as a female walking into an auto shop these days) and ultimately they gave great service, repaired a few extra small things here and there at no extra cost and made sure that I walked out with a solid truck! I'll definitely be returning to Urban for everything related and sending my friends there as well. :) read more

All I can say is WOW!!! When my 2007 Toyota Prius started having a weird grinding noise when driving, I need a local repair shop near me. I called over to Urban Autocare and they were quick to answer with a friendly voice. I have taken my car into Urban twice now and was very pleased with the experience both times. First time was for their thorough diagnostic service and Nick did a tremendous job describing to me each potential issue they found, but most of all, prioritized which items needed attention and which could wait. I appreciated the honesty. I took it by a second time due to a random power steering failure and I couldn't believe how quick inexpensive the repair was. Then Nick sent a follow up text after I got the car back advising me to not be alarmed if I saw a bit of puddling for the day or two afterwards. Unexpectedly thorough service and communication. I found Urban Auto Care on Yelp and they did not disappoint. After my car was emitting some concerning screeching noises they were able to get my car in same day, let me know the following day what the issues were, talked me thoroughly through all of the recommended fixes and had it finished the following day. Nick was honest about the importance of each fix and described the issues in terms I could understand. He saved me $800 in non-essential fixes. I will definitely be back. THANKS UAC! read more

Took my Jeep to Urban Autocare for an oil change and tire rotation. They charged me $175, yikes! Then they told me I need $1000 worth of maintenance. I just took it to get a second opinion and they suggested I do a $60 brake fluid change and my Jeep was in great shape otherwise. Urban Autocare tried to swindle me and got caught in the act. I highly recommend Urban Autocare- professional, courteous, and price conscious. They always give me several options in terms of what can wait, what is worth doing now, and they usually shop around to give me less expensive options on parts. They are also accurate in terms of how long services will likely take and stay in communication with me while they have my car. They are respectful of my time and wallet. I've had oil changes go just fine here, but it was when they suggested that I replace a hose and thermostat that I started having issues. I trusted them and did the repair, only a few months later to realize that my car started to overheat on long drives which I hadn't done within the few months after the repair. I brought it back and was told with 99% certainty that it was a problem with my radiator. $565 and a new radiator later, that did not fix the problem. I brought it back and they did a test to make sure it wasn't a blown head gasket, which it wasn't, but at that point they wanted to replace the fan controller for $180. Luckily this time they told me they weren't positive that was it. I went to the 8th and Downing Conoco for a second opinion and the first thing they noticed was that the coolant tank was filled all the way to the top, while the max/min lines are closer to the bottom of the coolant tank. They emptied the excess coolant for me for free. I tried it out again and that still hadn't fixed it, so I brought it back and they burped it. They literally let the car run while the radiator cap was open to get excess air out of the coolant system and charged me nothing because there was nothing to replace. Will not be going back to Urban Autocare. To be fair, I don't think they were intentionally trying to screw me, but the fact that they jumped to one of the more expensive repairs, didn't think to try burping excess air from the system and way overfilled the coolant tank is concerning enough for me to not visit again. read more

Please let me preface this by saying that with our move West, leaving my auto mechanic was painful. Imagine our delight at seeing Urban Autocare's building close by on one of our walks just days after arriving. Today we stopped in for help and without an appointment, were immediately assisted by Phil Carpenter. We will definitely make an appointment when service is due or if we have any mechanical problems. Phil was professional, extremely courteous and spent a great deal of energy getting some nuts and bolts off our bumper and was not going to take anything for his effort. Sorry to say I'm disappointed with this place. I took my car in for regular maintenance and they recommended over $1,500 in repairs. I was concerned as some of the repairs they suggested had been done by another shop in the past year. I then took my car to a third shop -- highly recommended but far from my home -- and they told me it really didn't need any repair work done. I still paid for a $250 in preventative maintenance but that's a far cry from what Urban Autocare suggested. It pays to check around. read more
