Three things to consider. First, I thought the sandwiches were pretty good and good size (easily split in two for lunch size portions). We had the coconut curry shrimp on a roll and bacon crunch chicken on bao and they were both reasonably priced for what you get. Second, the lady at the counter was friendly and the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Third, my thoughts on the ambience and cleanliness of the establishment. This is where I had some problems. The place had been somewhat remodeled and could have been cute with some effort but was not. As far as cleanliness, the bare minimum appeared to be done (floors swept and tables wiped). BUT overall the dining area was dirty if you really looked around when you sat at at one of the tables. It affected my appetite to look at dark red sauce stains dripping all over the trash cans, dirty windows, heat thermometer covered in dust, surfaces all a bit sticky, etc. Kitchen area from what I could see looked normal. Love this place so much that I came twice in one week for lunch. I've tried the coconut shrimp & pork bánh mi and crunchy chicken & bacon (both the banh mi and bao). The sweet, soft bao combined with the crunchy chicken and flavorful bacon is SO good. All sandwiches I tried were delicious and filled with a good amount of meat. The restaurant is also very clean and the staff I've encountered have all been friendly. They make it easy for special requests to be made. My first impression was that it's a little pricey for banh mi sandwiches because I'm used to $4 banh mi from the delis in South Seattle. However, I'm convinced that Urban Chops is worth the price, so they can take my money. I'll definitely be back for more! This place was recommend by family that said it was a must stop. They were right. We ordered the honey glazed bacon burger banh mi, thai chili shrimp and pork banh mi, lemongrass chicken vermicelli and the kids rice bowl with bbq chicken. Everything was tasty. As it regards sandwiches and rice plates, this is my favorite Vietnamese inspired restaurant in Auburn, Kent, Federal Way area. Easy to get to. Parking is convenient. This place has bacon like no other. Recommend the honey peppered bacon sandwich or plate. However, my go to is the Spicy Torched Shrimp and Pork plate (pictured below)--always get it with extra Thai chili as the base spice level is quite mild. On this most recent visit I noticed they've added a second person in the kitchen, so wait time has been reduced from about 30 min to ~15min for a family of 4's sized order. read more

(3.49 Stars) Being from Southern California and more recently San Jose, the bar is set high for banh mi. With that said, this was a decent sandwich. The pork and baguette were tasty and the combination of cold ingredients was good with a nice addition of fried onions. The only issue I had with the sandwich is the sauces/dressing soaked into the baguette and made it soggy, which is a sin. I think a healthy layer of mayo on the baguette prior to the rest of the ingredients would prevent that from happening. Probably will return but will ask them hold the sauces. read more

I had this spot on my bookmarks and I was in the area as I had an ultrasound appointment. I told my mother that I would buy her a banh mi for going with me and because the pictures I see posted for this place is super tempting. I have never seen such stuffed banh mi in all my years of eating banh mi and I love bao buns as well! However, today we went with two banh mi and a vermicelli bowl. Oh my gosh, the pictures do not lie and the seasoning on the meats are absolutely killer! The other cool thing about this place is their banh mi choices are unique compared to other places that just have grilled meats or tofu, as well as more seafood options. My mother loved her lemongrass chicken while I loved the spiciness that is their Thai chili shrimp and pork. They do not skimp on meat, veggies or sauce! Also their bread isn't super hard or does not leave any damages to the roof of your mouth which is one of my main reasons I tend not to get banh mi. I was absolutely impressed. The vermicelli noodle salad of coconut curry shrimp and pork was well portioned as well with fresh and big pieces of vegetables. The sauce that accompanies with the vermicelli noodle salad was flavorful too! They really know how to season well here. We ended our feast with a dessert of their palm true nectar creme brulee which was such a divine, not overly sweet dessert. Hospitality is friendly and attentive. Roasted chicken breast Ba'nhmi sandwich. Generous thick slices of roast chicken; pickled veggies; and fried shallots in a toasted French baguette. Love love this place!! The sandwiches are all super yummy. I've heard nothing but praise about the vermicelli salad from my mom. We tried the desert they offer, a palm sugar crème brûlée sibling. Super yummy! A small portion but plenty for my mom and I. It does contain nuts & dairy. One of my favorite places to recommend to friends. I will say, it is definitely a food-focused shop. They have a soda cooler of a few different beverage options, including some beer. All cans 12-16oz (minus the beers) but they have a pitcher of ice water that you can use. The people are all super friendly and the wait is not long at all the times I've gone. Orders are double checked and if something slips past them it's a quick fix. They even bring the food to you if you're sitting at one of the tables. A downside I might add, though it's really no bother to me, is the seating arrangement. There's only a handful of tables & if it gets busy I can imagine it'll be hard to find a spot. But the design is simple and cute. It's definitely a to-go sandwich shop first and foremost but it can accommodate the occasional dine-in lunch. TLDR: this place is really cool & I recommend everyone try it at least once.
