This is the second Urban Plates location I've been to. The ambience is as little more intimate with indoor and outdoor seating. I really like the healthy food choices. Only thing, i know they are trying to be eco friendly with sustainable salmon and shrimp, but there is a lot of controversy about the sustainable thing and the healthful quality of said seafood. I wish corporate would rethink this. Otherwise the staff was friendly, clean locale, and convenient parking. This one had better acoustics. I'd be back if in Irvine. read more

This place has fresh food, but the portions and customer service has changed. I used to come here pretty often due to their huge portions and wonderful service- however the amount of meat that comes with the salad has gone down. As far as freshness, it still tastes good. When dining in, they provide utensils near the cashier, but I was not aware of that. I asked a worker where the utensils are and he just pointed to the air and did not help me at all. A little disappointing. Pricing has also gone up to around $16 per salad. For the amount of meat, I wouldn't go as often as before. The food here is always so comforting. Not to mention being able to sit next to the warm fire on their outdoor patio. Marc and Michael were so helpful as we made our choices for dinner. We got the salmon plate and steak plate. The salmon was cooked perfectly. And, the chimichurri sauce was a great addition to the steak. Definitely recommend! Streak and broccoli were way overcooked. Steak was cooked well done no pink and it looked like they changed how they sliced it. It's way thinner and looked like it steamed itself in the to go container. Broccoli was so overcooked and falling apart with that nasty overcook taste. Best Urban Plates location hands down. Their service is always quick, efficient and personable. Shout out to Haydee who always goes above and beyond to provide the best service! The food is fresh, satisfying and healthy. Their mashed potatoes are better than ya grandma's thanksgiving mashed potatoes and the chocolate chip cookie is a must-have treat to end your meal. I've seen restaurants struggling due to the restaurant closures and I've been very impressed with how many have been adapting to the changes and providing outstanding service in these trying times. We've been trying to support small businesses so maybe it's my fault I visited this place for my salad fix. Ordered the grilled steak salad and after waiting about 10 minutes, my husband went to go check in with the order. They asked him, what was the order again? He told them and that's when they started preparing the order. What?! Get your ish together. It's not like it was busy as it was well past the lunch rush (~2:30 pm). Anyway we finally get our order and the steak was so over cooked, it was inedible. I am very disappointed since I really enjoyed the plates and salads here and this place is right around the corner from our house. The WORST food experience during the pandemic. I will definitely not be returning. UPDATE: I'M ALL ABOUT GOOD SERVICE. Went back to urban plates to inform them of my experience and see what they'd do about it. They offered to replace the item. Since I already ate something else for lunch, I asked for a refund. They apologized for the inconvenience and readily refunded me. The manager? (his apron said he was a chef) was an older gentleman with a bald head. I don't remember his name but he was very apologetic and professional. While I probably won't be returning for awhile, I really appreciated how they stepped it up with their service to deal with an unsatisfied customer. Props. read more

We were disappointed with our experience. They used to arrange and plate the food really nicely looking almost exactly like their advertising pictures, well not any more. Our orders were both steak and wrongly cooked, very sloppy plated, salads were wrong. I mean they got nothing right! The only thing that prevented me to ask for my money back was one server's kind and professional attitude. She was so quick to offer changing our plates that I couldn't resist.
