Urban Roast is such a cute, Instagram-worthy spot. The immersive seasonal installations are always top-tier -- I had a blast visiting this past December for their holiday theme. They really go above and beyond with decor and attention to detail. The drinks were solid, and the food is more casual -- we had the buffalo dip and the gyro with fries. The gyro was just okay, probably not worth the price, but the spot is really about the vibe, aesthetic, and photo opportunities. Definitely a fun place to visit for quick bites, drinks, and killer Instagram moments.
We came in because we knew the place is decked out seasonally and wow it really is! The ambiance is fantastic and we took lots of pictures. The service was fast & friendly but honestly I would only come here for photos and just a drink or 2! It's wildly overpriced in my opinion and you are paying for the setting. The prices are quite steep especially when considering the quality of the food. I was not wowed by anything here. It was fun to stop in and sit for a drink though! They have so many fun ones! Bring your credit card!
It's still such a beautiful place. I will continue to go to see the different activations but as a non-drinker outside of the pictures there isn't a lot for me to do here because the food is very subpar. It's run more like a bar, we had to consistently remind our server to bring drinks that we ordered sometimes 20 minutes prior. I think really just leaning into bar foods and avoiding some of the high end plates would maybe calls for better ratings here. I knew I shouldn't get the lamb shank, but I did and it wasn't horrible, but that's also not really the thing that's necessary to get here. A lot of my party got the empanadas and they said they were pretty good.
This place is brand new. Not even on yelp yet. This place is right next to zooz. I am not sure if this place is a coffee/breakfast place or a night time lounge...maybe it's both?! The outdoor space is really nice. They have heaters for when it's cold outside. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The bartender actually talks with you. Drink menu is vast. It was pretty slow when I went over on a Friday night. But all of the wharf was pretty slow. They were decorated for fall which was a fun touch. I like the vibe here. It's trendy but not pretentious.
Came here for a little later lunch on a Tuesday. We were the only guests until about 330. Gabriel was an amazing host & bartendar. He made sure to make sure I was comfortable while waiting for a friend and was super friendly during our whole meal. We even had a chance to try his Halloween drinks he will be serving up starting this weekend! I had the short rib entree. It was good. The mashed potatoes were a little too wet for me. My friend had the lambchop meal, he left NOOO crumbs lol Before 3 pm, there's so many food options available. - Brunch (which can be shareable with 2-3 people) - Lunch/Dinner - Happy Hour (seasonal drinks only) Beautiful fall decor. Clean bathroom/hand washing station Right infront of the MLK library. You may have to look for parking, but the Chinatown metro is barely a block away
What a unique, cozy, and beautifully decorated concept of a bar/restaurant! Each season, they have the most Instagram-worthy decor throughout their restaurant. They have all sorts of cozy hot chocolate-esque spiked drinks that you can enjoy indoors or outdoors with a fire pit. I recommend sitting outside in the fall/winter or on a cooler evening, nothing beats that ambiance. They had a vegan charcuterie board, which was a nice accommodation for folks with dietary restrictions. This is the perfect go to spot for the holidays!
This is a cute bar for cute photos and drinks . Food is 6/10 . Eat somewhere else . lol but drinks ambience cute photos yes . They are a theme with seasons. Cute date and girls night stop spot .
Okay! Soooo... we originally came for the s'mores dessert, but unfortunately they were out of marshmallows, so that was a huge disappointment. Instead, we ordered the tiramisu and the red velvet cake, both served with vanilla ice cream. They were absolutely delicious! I also ordered an espresso martini, and I highly recommend it. The service was great. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and very sweet throughout the evening. The ambiance was beautiful too, especially with the cherry blossom décor throughout the restaurant. The only real miss for me was the guacamole. It's advertised as homemade, and our waitress confirmed that it was, but I honestly have to disagree. It was overly mushy, almost like it had been puréed, and it lacked the fresh flavor and texture I'd expect from homemade guacamole. We didn't order any entrées since we originally stopped by just for the s'mores, so I can't speak to the main menu. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the desserts, cocktails, atmosphere, and service--just probably not the guacamole. Hospitality fee is also added to the bill! Paying in cash is a few dollars cheaper too!
Still a bit overpriced but the decorations never disappoint, and the holiday drinks we ordered were good quality. I always worry most about spending a lot and getting a crappy drink, but we were satisfied with our experience. They have plenty of good non alcoholic options here too such as fresh juices and coffees. On the Saturday after new year, we enjoyed the Christmas theme without the crowds! Service was good.
What a wild experience. The waitress was constantly confused when we put in orders for things that were on the menu (juice flavors for mimosas, certain empanadas) that they didn't actually have. The Belgium waffle board had two sad eggo waffles and a mess of half bad grapes for $26. The empanadas platter had four empanadas, different flavors than the menu promised, for a brutal $32. It took three selections for one person in our group to land on a beer they actually had. 7 people, 1 drink/person, and food so bad we didn't even finish the tiny portions for $33 a person. Won't be back.
Arguably the worst meal of 2025 for me. We showed up for our reservation and the hostess told us it would be another 20 minutes. As you can see in multiple reviews, reservation time doesn't really matter. We knew we'd be packed in, but our table was absolutely smushed. I would get bumped by another patron or server every couple of minutes with how tight fitting it is. You're here for the vibes, but both the food and drinks were misses. The holiday drink menu didn't come in themed cups and didn't seem appropriate, despite being $20 per cocktail. No one ordered a second one for a reason. My friend who ordered a diet coke did not receive it until she asked if she was going to be charged for it by the end of the meal, so they finally brought it out. We were asked for a side if we wanted chips, fries, or a salad. We ordered fries and lo and behold were charged $3 extra for them each with no warning and no label on the menu for that. Food was mediocre and served on cafeteria style plastic plates. The fries weren't good and my gyro tasted not fresh. They genuinely don't care about the garbage they're serving you. Even though it's cute inside we'll never come back. Way too many options in DC
My friends and I went to Urban Roast to see their Christmas set up and it did not disappoint. Every inch of the place was covered with lights and decorations. It really put us in the holiday spirit. We only had drinks and some small plates. We had the guacamole and empanadas, which were both average. We split the 48 oz espresso martini and it was very good. We also had a few more holiday drinks that we liked. Definitely a fun place around the holidays! I will have to try it throughout the year to compare.
Stopped by Urban Roast after the Washington Ballet for some hot cocoa. Really fun spot for pictures and holiday drinks. A little pricier but they have different themed rooms for Christmas -- candy land, grinch, north pole upstairs. Was a fun holiday stop :)

This is my second time going, and this time was for brunch during the Christmas holidays (November, 2024). The decor in and of itself was amazing! My girlfriend and I got some really good and sweet pics. The food was good. We ordered oat milk lattes to begin, and then had the fruit plate as an appetizer. My girlfriend had the breakfast platter, which she liked. I had the avocado toast, and I wouldn't order that again. The food is so good here, but I didn't love that- the bread was just mediocre and there wasn't enough avocado. I didn't wanna order more, so I ate half of it. It came with some good greens, which was nice! The service was amazing, and they've upgraded their dining chairs since the last time I was here. It was a totally top notch experience! They even have an upstairs that's decorated so cute. I'm impressed! read more
The best thing about the place is the atmosphere. They decorated the restaurant pretty extravagantly for the holidays, which is perfect for festive photo opportunities. However, we had to wait over 30 min past our reservation time to be seated, as did many others. At least it gave us plenty of time for photos. Service was also fairly slow, but it's understandable since the place is packed and not many servers/bartenders. I got the seasonal s'mores espresso martini, which was delicious, definitely on the expensive side at $22. While I enjoyed the drink and the atmosphere here, I would only really recommend this place as a good restaurant for photos. read more
I came here when it was first opened and service was a little slow. I have also tried to come in the past but they don't always honor their reservations, especially if you book the day of the reservation. I highly suggest calling ahead of time to ensure they can take you. I came here on a Friday and they were super overwhelmed with reservations and many people were left waiting a while. Other than the service, which could be better, the ambiance is wonderful! They always have fun decorations and it's a great place to take pics. My friends and I got the jalapeño popper dip, which was great! I still may go to other places for fun holiday specials but if you come on a free weekday, it's a fun time! read more
The Christmas aesthetics are absolutely beautiful here and this place is perfect for picture taking. My issue is that so many people crowd the door that you can hardly take pictures due to people waiting to be seated or praying a table doesn't show up. Not sure if the tables are being overbooked or if the host don't know what they're doing but its dumb lol. I was trying to be festive so I decided to try the holiday items and it was awful. The drinks and the food. I actually left here and went to eat at shake shack lol. Our waiter was very nice and attentive and the bathrooms are gorgeous. read more
Service: 4/5 my friend and I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon around 3:30pm. We didn't have reservations and was turned away. I went next door and was able to ask some nice ladies to move down a seat for us. The bartenders were attentive with the steady traffic. Food: I ordered the Whiskey Cider which was strong and good! One down side is it was served in a glass and the drink was burning hot. I need to wrap a napkin over it so I wouldn't burn my hand. My next drink was the classic Hot Toddy which was boozy and sour. I really like it but again it was serve in a glass. Thankfully, it wasn't as piping hot as the Whiskey Cider. My friend did love her Christmas cocktails. The bar was decked out in Christmas decor. It was really over the top. We loved it!!! This bar changes their theme throughout the year depending on what holiday it is. I would recommend making reservations unless you are feeling lucky at getting a seat at the bar. read more
I came in Dec 2024 to check out the holiday decor. With a reservation, I waited 34 minutes to be seated and the crowds were insane mixed with people who did and didn't have a reservation. The food was nothing to rave home about. My friend & I ordered soups which were barely hot and watered down and the brisket was also plain along with the brisket dip which was mostly just cheese & oil. I think they only do drinks well because the hot chocolate flight (non alcoholic) was great! Overall such an average experience/restaurant that I definitely wouldn't recommend unless you're going for drinks & Instagram pictures (even that is hard with the massive crowds.) read more
Brought some people from out of town for a drink! The inside is always fun with the florals hanging from the ceiling. We got our appetizer before our drinks which was a bit odd but the drinks were worth the wait. The buffalo chicken dip wasn't anything special but it was a good snack while we enjoyed our drinks! Well, I was very disappointed. It was very aesthetically pleasing. However, the food was less than to be desired. They had limited options for the brunch menu. All the items were shareable and offered on a charcuterie board. It was definitely a different kind of brunch than what I am typically accustomed to. The service was great. Went for the Christmas pop up and the decorations did not disappoint. I had the holiday espresso martini flight and my friend had the grinch marg. I loved the theatrics of lighting the smores on one of my martinis but it definitely did not make it worth 40 bucks. My friend ordered the lobster bisque and empanadas. There was no lobster in the bisque and the empanadas were hot on the outside but the meat inside was cold. I had the shrimp and corn chowder and the buffalo chicken dip. The chowder was great the dip... not so much. It was gritty and the chicken in it tasted like frozen chunks, it was awful. While the waitress was nice, it took her a long while to check on us after the food was delivered. At that point we just gave the empanadas back. I would have liked to give the dip back but we were hungry and just ate bites of it. I spent over 80 bucks for should have probably been no more than 40 and the 1drink and bisque cost my friend 40 bucks. Go in and take pictures maybe have a drink but definitely find food elsewhere. read more

Went to this place for the Christmas bar atmosphere, drinks, and some appetizers. It was decorated to the hilt, lots of lights, trees, and decorations all around. Pretty cool. The drinks were ok. Our party had a couple s'mores espresso martinis, a peppermint espresso martini, and a hot chocolate sampler. All were somewhat unique, but just ok. Definitely not worth the $20 each cost. My wife also got the Campfire Hot Cocoa, which again, was ok. We also had three appetizers: the beef brisket dip, guac and chips, and halloumi. The beef brisket dip is way more queso/cheese and not much brisket. Average at best. The guac and halloumi were both good. Service, again, just ok. Took a bit for our server to initially get to our table. After that, she was fine. Overall, cool decorations for Christmas, but the drinks and food weren't great and not worth the price. read more
I was in town for work and decided to meet a friend for late dinner here! The ambiance is super cool inside, with all kinds of decorations. When I came, it was around Lunar New Year, so there were lots of red decorations everywhere and great photo ops. There was also a corporate happy hour happening so seems like a good spot for events as well. I decided to get the pork shoulder + a side of asparagus as well as a hot chocolate (my friend had RAVED about their hot chocolate bar). Unfortunately we couldn't do the smores as it was a little late. The food was served fairly quickly and I liked my pork shoulder and mashed potatoes! The glaze on top was delicious and the pork was very tender. The asparagus was a little stringy but good flavor. The hot chocolate was absolutely delicious and rich and velvety. I loved the light whipped ceam on top as well. Overall, cool spot! read more
This place is becoming one of my favorite spots. Probably because I really love espresso martinis. How can you not love an espresso martini flight and espresso martini cocktail making class!!! I'm hear for everything ESPRESSO. I'm extra caffeinated just typing this. The ambience is of course Tik Tok and IG friendly. They change the decor for seasons and holidays. I've seen Christmas and Summer. I am looking forward to the fall pumpkin patch decorations and the pumpkin spice espresso martini making class. As most of the reviews say, come here for the decor, not the food or drinks. Came for a Fall girls day and we had a wonderful time chatting under the beautiful, Fall decor though the food and drinks fell very flat. We got the espresso martini flight and they were definitely pre-mixed and packed with sugar. Although it's a fun idea, I do not recommend. For food, we got the charcuterie board, halloumi, gyro and apple/pecan salad. Of all of these items I would rank them in the following from best to worst. Charcuterie, gyro, halloumi, salad. Charcuterie is just putting things on a board, so kind of hard to mess up. My friend who had the gyro said it tasted fresh, she enjoyed it. The halloumi was good, but the bread was a bit stale and the salad was just sad. Overall, if you're looking for a festive place to come hangout, highly recommend as the decor is incredibly impressive and beautiful! If you're looking for good apps and drinks, go anywhere else. read more

The ambiance is the cutest! I went on a date with Hubby. The inside was decorated for cherry blossom season. We got the sweet Belgian and also a side of scrambled eggs and home fries. I wish this charcuterie board had more waffle on it because there was really only enough to make up one whole waffle, but it was chopped up. The menu advertises this serves 2 to 3, uhhhh no, unless they a mini waffles. We had to get the sides to go with this to make it a full meal, Otherwise we would've left here hungry. Everything tasted good. One thing to improve would be to offer some sort of veggie sausage or smoked salmon for the sides read more

This place is great for cocktails and pictures ONLY. Come during happy hour, Mon-Fri 1-6pm. The inside is beautifully decorated but smelled. Maybe it was the fake flowers, maybe it was due to dust? The food was awful. We shared some starters & drinks. Dynamite shrimp: 0/10 stars. Overcooked and tasted like honey walnut shrimp. No spice whatsoever. We sent it back it was so bad. $17 Empanada Trio: 0/10 stars. Enough to share but was not good. They all needed more seasoning and tasted like hot pockets. $25 Halloumi Cheese: 6/10 stars. The fried cheese was good but the pita was stale. $14 Buffalo Chicken Dip: 4/10 stars. My friend liked this but I thought the chicken was mushy and gross. $15 Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini: 10/10 stars. This was my favorite! However it came with a fake leaf in it. Drinks were really great, our table ordered a variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks and each was served in a beautiful glass. Service was quick and our waiter came and checked on us multiple times. We ordered multiple appetizers with the best being the smokehouse beef brisket dip. All appetizers were great, but the cheesy potatoes did come a bit lukewarm. Always a great time, especially during the holiday season read more

I'm glad I had booked a reservation for Valentine's Day here. It's a beautiful atmosphere . There is so much to choose from. The meal & drinks are delicious. I recently attended my good friend's birthday brunch here and it was amazing. The décor and ambiance totally matched the theme -- "A FLORAL FIESTA FOR 46" -- as everything, from ceiling to floor and everything in between, was draped in flowers and floral prints galore. Service: Attentive. Impressive, considering we were a large party of thirsty and hungry folks. Food: Served fresh. I ordered the BUFFALO CHICKEN DIP and tortilla chips and it was so good. It was definitely enough to share and I'm so glad that I didn't have to. Beverage: Served cold and cute. I enjoyed the MIMOSA FLIGHT (Up, up, and away!) Buffalo Chicken Dip Nothing more than the canned chicken recipe that is off of the back of the Franks Red Hot bottle. It was good for what it was, I expected them to have their own spin on this dip. Short Rib Very tender and the gravy was a perfect compliment. The mashed potatoes were definitely homemade which I appreciated. Thee are skimpy with the portion for the price. As an entree there should have been more than two slices of short rib. Service The service was trash. We waited a very long time before the waitress came to take our order, long enough that the tables around us ordered their food. We ordered a soda, apps and entrees. All the surrounding tables that were seated after us got their alcoholic drinks and apps long before us, even though they ordered long after us. When we brought it up to the waitress she then ordered all of our items and they came out all at one time. Not ideal, nor do the tables have space for it. The soda I ordered I had to request again and that wasn't brought until the meal arrived. After we said we didn't want anymore, since they use electronic table side payment we thought she would've brought up the check. She left and we didn't see her for a while, we had to ask another waitress to get ours. The bill still had errors which she should I've fixed before to allow another waitress to check us out. We finally asked for the manager and the waitress said she was the manager. After we reported to her as the manager and after getting 3 incorrect bills, she did provide a discount. I was appreciative, more forethought would have been better for the amount of mistakes. Ambiance You're really coming for the drinks and the decorations. Wanted to check out the decorations here before the holidays wind down, and they didn't disappoint! Loved the atmosphere and loved my spiked hot chocolate with a flaming then charred marshmallow! It's $20 drink, just an FYI.. Service was wonderful anddd I'll be back before the Vday decorations go up! Such a fun spot with tons of drink options. The food was excellent. The staff was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful! We had the bbq pork sandwich, chicken caesar, salad and the turkey bacon avocado sandwich. You pay for the ambiance and decor of this place but not the taste. Drinks are pretty but very sweet. The espresso martinis are bitter. And there's not a large selection of food. I enjoyed the Caesar salad and buffalo chicken dip but it is very average. Our server was really nice and helpful though. read more

What a fun bar! We had a big group of 16 people and they were still able to accommodate us. While it seems like a very intimate bar (with great decorations), they actually have multiple areas and can take groups of all sizes. The thing that stuck out most to me were the large variety of boards they have. They had boards for waffles, desserts, cheeses, fruits, and so many more, and this was the perfect place for us to snack before our show. They even had flights which I wasn't able to try this time around, but will definitely come back to try that out. They have revolving decorations and their Christmas decor didn't disappoint. Decor in the restaurant is definitely 10/10. It is social media worthy. Servers were very friendly. Service was a bit slow but my food was actually great. The short ribs with the mashed potatoes were delicious! Margaritas were good as well. There will be a man who takes your pictures and asks if you want to buy them. read more
Food was great, the hamburgers were priced very fairly as well as the classic charcuterie. The drinks are normally priced. Our waitress was really nice and checked in often. However, our food came out slightly wrong twice, with one side being wrong and one drink also. We got the side fixed, but the drink left be since it was close enough (left out the peach puree). If you're looking for a lively and bustling spot to enjoy drinks and food with your friends, I'd highly recommend! The classic charcuterie was hugee. The cheeses were amazing, but the meats could use some work. We personally thought there was too much ham. However, it was overall very very cute and delish! The salad was wonderful and I was delighted to hear it came with the burger. They paired very nicely. Everyone was really satisfied with their food, being an avocado toast and egg dish also. This place is good if you're planning on getting some Instagram pictures but definitely not for the food. The food and the restaurant are aesthetically pleasing and the overall decor was beautiful. The boards that they have are not worth the price whatsoever. The $28 breakfast board would probably cost $15 at a diner and would taste better. The food was very one dimensional and did not have much flavor. The cheese board was also disappointing. It was probably the most plain one I have ever had and is over priced at that price point. Definitely left here still hungry and disappointed. I added a star because the spiked hot chocolate flight was amazing. The only downside was the price as it was $42 and probably had at most a shot of Baileys. The service was also okay as we had to ask multiple times to get items and were served by different people. Finally visited this restaurant. It has been on my radar for quiet a while. It's a really pretty place. Very decorated and def great for instagram reels. Food was good and it was late evening. However. Everything was still very fresh Bartender super nice Burger i was told was delicious. But they don't have fries or onion rings. Just kettle chips. We also ordered salmon with Cesar salad and rare real with green salad. Chips and guacamole. I would return for the atmosphere and late hours of operation read more

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this charming restaurant on a rainy Saturday for brunch with friends. As soon as we stepped inside, we were greeted with a mesmerizing decor featuring an abundance of flowers. It's worth noting that they change their decorations with each season, which adds a delightful touch. The highlight of their brunch concept was the family-style charcuterie boards, designed to serve 2-3 people. Given that we were a party of four, we decided to order two of these delightful boards, along with four side dishes (extra bacon, potatoes, sausage, cheese egg), and of course, indulged in the Bottomless Mimosa (a must for everyone at the table). Board 1: Sweet Belgian - Homemade belgian waffle slices with fresh fruit. Topped with Nutella, peanut butter, and maple syrup Board 2: Hangover Board- Tender flank steak and scrambled eggs and cheese served with a side of chimmichurri sauce, homestyle potatoes, fresh pastries and fresh fruits. Our experience was made even more enjoyable by our exceptional server, Abdullah He went above and beyond from the moment we sat down, offering valuable insights into the menu and making some fantastic suggestions for our group. The combination of the delectable food, the seasonal ambiance, and Abdullah's service made for an unforgettable brunch experience. The experience was okay. There are definitely better options nearby. The standout feature was the decor, which is beautifully done. We visited on Valentine's Day and expected it to be busy, but it felt overbooked, with many guests waiting for tables. Our waitress was very kind and even offered a complimentary shot, and it was clear she was doing her best despite the circumstances. Unfortunately, the food fell short for us and I'd rate it a 3/10. If you're primarily looking for great food, this may not be the best choice. The drinks, however, were enjoyable. Overall, I'd give this place a 5/10. read more
The experience here I had was pretty mid. Overall, it was fine. The decorations for Christmas are pretty Instagram-focused and you can tell that they're catering to influencers who might make a tiktok of the space. My friend and I ordered espresso martinis and the cheese board. For the price, I would say at least the portions were decent. The cheese itself was pretty lackluster, with some extremely mild manchego and just whole black pepper cheddar with some crackers. I was surprised that there was burrata on the board, which was definitely the highlight. The espresso martinis were a bit sweeter than I'm used to, which some might enjoy but I felt was too sweet. Wow! What an experience! A beautifully decorated restaurant with fun flights and snacks to share. We got to this spot just in time before the line was out the door ! The food and charcuterie board were so tasty! The ambiance was festive and fun! Definitely recommend! read more

Where is the best place to sit during Christmas time?
I am not sure. I have only been there in October. I bet it is going to look great for Christmas though.

I would assume they serve food until they close (midnight) on Friday.

They have bigger tables for six or eight people

No it stays crowded and busy so seating is usually in high demand.
