We came in because we knew the place is decked out seasonally and wow it really is! The ambiance is fantastic and we took lots of pictures. The service was fast & friendly but honestly I would only come here for photos and just a drink or 2! It's wildly overpriced in my opinion and you are paying for the setting. The prices are quite steep especially when considering the quality of the food. I was not wowed by anything here. It was fun to stop in and sit for a drink though! They have so many fun ones! Bring your credit card!
Okay! Soooo... we originally came for the s'mores dessert, but unfortunately they were out of marshmallows, so that was a huge disappointment. Instead, we ordered the tiramisu and the red velvet cake, both served with vanilla ice cream. They were absolutely delicious! I also ordered an espresso martini, and I highly recommend it. The service was great. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and very sweet throughout the evening. The ambiance was beautiful too, especially with the cherry blossom décor throughout the restaurant. The only real miss for me was the guacamole. It's advertised as homemade, and our waitress confirmed that it was, but I honestly have to disagree. It was overly mushy, almost like it had been puréed, and it lacked the fresh flavor and texture I'd expect from homemade guacamole. We didn't order any entrées since we originally stopped by just for the s'mores, so I can't speak to the main menu. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the desserts, cocktails, atmosphere, and service--just probably not the guacamole. Hospitality fee is also added to the bill! Paying in cash is a few dollars cheaper too!
It's still such a beautiful place. I will continue to go to see the different activations but as a non-drinker outside of the pictures there isn't a lot for me to do here because the food is very subpar. It's run more like a bar, we had to consistently remind our server to bring drinks that we ordered sometimes 20 minutes prior. I think really just leaning into bar foods and avoiding some of the high end plates would maybe calls for better ratings here. I knew I shouldn't get the lamb shank, but I did and it wasn't horrible, but that's also not really the thing that's necessary to get here. A lot of my party got the empanadas and they said they were pretty good.
What a unique, cozy, and beautifully decorated concept of a bar/restaurant! Each season, they have the most Instagram-worthy decor throughout their restaurant. They have all sorts of cozy hot chocolate-esque spiked drinks that you can enjoy indoors or outdoors with a fire pit. I recommend sitting outside in the fall/winter or on a cooler evening, nothing beats that ambiance. They had a vegan charcuterie board, which was a nice accommodation for folks with dietary restrictions. This is the perfect go to spot for the holidays!
This place is brand new. Not even on yelp yet. This place is right next to zooz. I am not sure if this place is a coffee/breakfast place or a night time lounge...maybe it's both?! The outdoor space is really nice. They have heaters for when it's cold outside. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The bartender actually talks with you. Drink menu is vast. It was pretty slow when I went over on a Friday night. But all of the wharf was pretty slow. They were decorated for fall which was a fun touch. I like the vibe here. It's trendy but not pretentious.
Came here for a little later lunch on a Tuesday. We were the only guests until about 330. Gabriel was an amazing host & bartendar. He made sure to make sure I was comfortable while waiting for a friend and was super friendly during our whole meal. We even had a chance to try his Halloween drinks he will be serving up starting this weekend! I had the short rib entree. It was good. The mashed potatoes were a little too wet for me. My friend had the lambchop meal, he left NOOO crumbs lol Before 3 pm, there's so many food options available. - Brunch (which can be shareable with 2-3 people) - Lunch/Dinner - Happy Hour (seasonal drinks only) Beautiful fall decor. Clean bathroom/hand washing station Right infront of the MLK library. You may have to look for parking, but the Chinatown metro is barely a block away
What a wild experience. The waitress was constantly confused when we put in orders for things that were on the menu (juice flavors for mimosas, certain empanadas) that they didn't actually have. The Belgium waffle board had two sad eggo waffles and a mess of half bad grapes for $26. The empanadas platter had four empanadas, different flavors than the menu promised, for a brutal $32. It took three selections for one person in our group to land on a beer they actually had. 7 people, 1 drink/person, and food so bad we didn't even finish the tiny portions for $33 a person. Won't be back.
Still a bit overpriced but the decorations never disappoint, and the holiday drinks we ordered were good quality. I always worry most about spending a lot and getting a crappy drink, but we were satisfied with our experience. They have plenty of good non alcoholic options here too such as fresh juices and coffees. On the Saturday after new year, we enjoyed the Christmas theme without the crowds! Service was good.
Arguably the worst meal of 2025 for me. We showed up for our reservation and the hostess told us it would be another 20 minutes. As you can see in multiple reviews, reservation time doesn't really matter. We knew we'd be packed in, but our table was absolutely smushed. I would get bumped by another patron or server every couple of minutes with how tight fitting it is. You're here for the vibes, but both the food and drinks were misses. The holiday drink menu didn't come in themed cups and didn't seem appropriate, despite being $20 per cocktail. No one ordered a second one for a reason. My friend who ordered a diet coke did not receive it until she asked if she was going to be charged for it by the end of the meal, so they finally brought it out. We were asked for a side if we wanted chips, fries, or a salad. We ordered fries and lo and behold were charged $3 extra for them each with no warning and no label on the menu for that. Food was mediocre and served on cafeteria style plastic plates. The fries weren't good and my gyro tasted not fresh. They genuinely don't care about the garbage they're serving you. Even though it's cute inside we'll never come back. Way too many options in DC
My friends and I went to Urban Roast to see their Christmas set up and it did not disappoint. Every inch of the place was covered with lights and decorations. It really put us in the holiday spirit. We only had drinks and some small plates. We had the guacamole and empanadas, which were both average. We split the 48 oz espresso martini and it was very good. We also had a few more holiday drinks that we liked. Definitely a fun place around the holidays! I will have to try it throughout the year to compare.
Finally visited this restaurant. It has been on my radar for quiet a while. It's a really pretty place. Very decorated and def great for instagram reels. Food was good and it was late evening. However. Everything was still very fresh Bartender super nice Burger i was told was delicious. But they don't have fries or onion rings. Just kettle chips. We also ordered salmon with Cesar salad and rare real with green salad. Chips and guacamole. I would return for the atmosphere and late hours of operation read more

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this charming restaurant on a rainy Saturday for brunch with friends. As soon as we stepped inside, we were greeted with a mesmerizing decor featuring an abundance of flowers. It's worth noting that they change their decorations with each season, which adds a delightful touch. The highlight of their brunch concept was the family-style charcuterie boards, designed to serve 2-3 people. Given that we were a party of four, we decided to order two of these delightful boards, along with four side dishes (extra bacon, potatoes, sausage, cheese egg), and of course, indulged in the Bottomless Mimosa (a must for everyone at the table). Board 1: Sweet Belgian - Homemade belgian waffle slices with fresh fruit. Topped with Nutella, peanut butter, and maple syrup Board 2: Hangover Board- Tender flank steak and scrambled eggs and cheese served with a side of chimmichurri sauce, homestyle potatoes, fresh pastries and fresh fruits. Our experience was made even more enjoyable by our exceptional server, Abdullah He went above and beyond from the moment we sat down, offering valuable insights into the menu and making some fantastic suggestions for our group. The combination of the delectable food, the seasonal ambiance, and Abdullah's service made for an unforgettable brunch experience. The experience here I had was pretty mid. Overall, it was fine. The decorations for Christmas are pretty Instagram-focused and you can tell that they're catering to influencers who might make a tiktok of the space. My friend and I ordered espresso martinis and the cheese board. For the price, I would say at least the portions were decent. The cheese itself was pretty lackluster, with some extremely mild manchego and just whole black pepper cheddar with some crackers. I was surprised that there was burrata on the board, which was definitely the highlight. The espresso martinis were a bit sweeter than I'm used to, which some might enjoy but I felt was too sweet. There is definitely a certain audience that would enjoy this, however, I can't say that I fit that group. read more
A friend and I stopped here for drinks right before Christmas! The place was super fun, it was all decked out for the holidays and it was PACKED. Luckily, there were just two of us so we were able to sit at the bar pretty quickly. If we had come with a bigger group we would have had to wait for a table. The service was also fairly quick, considering how many people were in the bar. We both ordered off the holiday menu and we each got a margarita (that I can not remember the name of or find on the online menu). It was a really fun drink and really fresh! Urban Roast is DC's go-to holiday bar that includes a variety of espresso martinis, Christmas themed flavors, and (at the time my friend and I went) 2 options for fixed course menu. With that being said, drinks can be upwards of $16 each. I got to try the Pumpkin Spice Martini and Old Fashioned. Both were tasty, however, nothing too far off from drinks you can find at other places. The real star of the show of Urban Roast is its seasonal ambiance. From Fall to Winter, this bar has beautiful decor, vibrant lights, and unique designs throughout the restaurant that are photo-worthy to say the least. My friend and I split the food off of Menu A which included Dynamite Shrimp, Flank Steak with Chimichurri, Street Corn, and finished off with Red Velvet Cake with Vanilla ice cream. All were tasty, but nothing stood out as spectacular. I do know they rotate through menus, so there may be more options now than when my friend and I visited last Fall. The service was quick and accommodating. I appreciated the lively staff and enjoyed the restaurant's social atmosphere. I'm sure I'll find myself at Urban Roast come winter, but I'll skip the dinner and enjoy their seasonal drinks this go around. read more
This place is just so aesthetically pleasing. Somehow it opened up during the pandemic and I missed the original announcement -- I lost touch with so many spots in DC... but I'm better about it now! The first time, I went with some friends just to have a drink or two while waiting to get in somewhere. We were seated near the back and walked through the beautiful cherry blossom (at the time) decor. The walls and ceiling are seriously stunning. I forget which one, but I had a delicious margarita. The second time was for a friend's birthday dinner -- no drinks this time, but I decided on their gyro and salad. It was delicious -- it wasn't too much, and it wasn't too little either! The lamb was flavorful and I loved the balsamic dressing on the salad. The s'mores menu left me in shock. I was really tempted to get one, but decided against it based on an extra sweet dessert I had just the day before. The only things that keep it from being a 5 for me are that splitting checks with them is definitely a pain, unfortunately... and both times the service was occasionally spotty... it was definitely noticeable the first time because we were in a bit of a hurry (had a speakeasy reservation). Ambient energy and photo opportunities are wonderful here. Social media mavens, this is your spot. Lots of seasonal colors, fun pretty drinks, and good lighting. The drinks were very well served and presentation was great. I ordered a Manhattan, pretty sure it was shaken, owns other than not being served in a chilled glass, all was well. Food was OK, again they slay presentation. The service is also spot on, very attentive. Go for the vibes, go for the pictures. read more

If you want to eat somewhere trendy in DC where you can take instagramable pictures - this is a great spot. It is highly popular so I suggest making reservations ahead of time. If you want to have good meal that is filling and worth the price you are paying, this is NOT it. Portions are small, food is average and very overpriced. This place is overhyped. read more
When you are a parent of two...your dates are during the day...I saw this place advertised on Yelp and figured I would try it out. I think they are known more for their vibes than anything else so for those who enjoy fine dining skip my review. The location is perfect but parking is tough. I made reservations but don't think you need them this early. The hangover board was a solid 7.5 out of 10...the steak was the best item on the board. Drinks were decent...I think this is a strong point...add in the decorations and nice decor this place is a hit for all. I'd return for vibes with friends anytime read more

Come here for the decor and the drinks! Rumor has it that the new Love is Blind was filmed in here on a date. We specifically requested for the flower wall, and it was so beautiful. The women's bathroom is also nicely decorated with flowers. Overall for food, would highly recommend the dynamite shrimp. It is sweet and crispy with fried onions on top, simply delicious. I also really enjoyed the 3 drinks - mainly the marshmellow espresso first, then secondly the gingerbread. It tasted like a Starbucks latte to me. I also am a big fan of corn, so I liked the street corn. I would say the buffalo chicken was actually the least appetizing of the three, even though it was highly rated on the website menu. read more

When you see an entire list of "Smores" for $12+ you'd think deconstructed smores dip/cookie skillet style/fondue, literally anything worth paying for. No, this is straight up child making s'mores in the microwave style. That's so tragicallyembarrassing. It also smells so unpleasant, like a festering grease trap. read more
Great ambiance - the place is fully decked out for Christmas. An Instagram or TikTok influencers dream! As an elder millennial, I found it fun but am not sure I'd come back to see each and every time they redo the decor. Our waitress-who was great- said they keep the holiday decor up until mid January and then switch to Valentine's Day, Spring/Cherry Blossoms and a few others. Their Christmas Decor every year is different. My friend and I each got the Bailey's hot chocolate which was great -- a freshly charred marshmallow on top made it feel like winter. But it was $20 a cocktail which is quite expensive. read more

My friends & I came for the holiday pop-up bar at Urban Roast. We had a reservation but had to wait several minutes standing in a crowded hallway when we arrived due to a TV show filming? We were seated upstairs where the holiday decor is unimpressive compared to all the cool areas downstairs. The gingerbread espresso martini was just crumbs inside a normal espresso martini, and the white hot chocolate came in a Halloween mug. We came to enjoy the holiday ambience and unique Christmas drink menu, but were very disappointed with both. On the plus side, our server was great! read more
As a Christmas lover I had to stop by Urban Roast this season! The decor was woooonderful, like Christmas exploded (in a cheerful and vibrant way). I had the wood grilled chicken, definitely beyond my expectation. The veggies and quinoa were cooked to a soft texture and the sauce layer over the chicken was filled with a sweet flavor. My drink of choice came from the holiday menu, the holly jolly rita was refreshing! Our server was very kind and attentive to us (also extremely patient as we kept forgetting to look at the menu and decide what we wanted). My Christmas heart is happy! read more

Urban Roast is located near the Gallery Place - Chinatown metro stop and is walkable from the Metro Center stop, too. The location also makes it a great breakfast/brunch place before the Holiday Market or the National Portrait Gallery. The ambiance in the restaurant is immaculate. The decorations are so well thought out and intricate. Right now, it's trendy + Christmas chic and there's lots of opportunities for cute pictures with your girl gang or significant other at the entrance, your table, and the bathroom. There's plenty of seating options inside and outside but would definitely recommend making reservations. We walked in and were seated next to the cocktail bar upstairs. The waitresses and staff are super nice, accommodating, and great at making recommendations. The food menu is diverse + good for people who may have allergies. The actual presentation of the drinks and entrees were thoughtfully crafted + made for a great photo opportunity. The food itself could've been done better. The toasted marshmallow latte was extremely bitter, the Belgian waffle was grainy + small, and the side of potatoes were undercooked (but seasoned well). I asked for a side of simple syrup and ketchup to match my preferences, which was definitely the move. The prices here are a little bit high in general but reasonable for DC. Also, during the Holidays, they do have a 90-minute limit at the table. I would recommend this place for a cute little date or catch up with a friend who appreciates a good Instagram moment. read more
I finally went to Urban Roast and it was as magically Christmasy as all the Instagram pictures I had seen of it. If you are thinking of going to Urban Roast, specifically around Christmas time, you have to make reservations in advance. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time and had to wait about 15 minutes, which was fine because we got to take plenty of pictures while we waited. Other people who showed up without reservations were told it was a 2 hour wait. Now to the food and drink. We got the hot chocolate flight and the charcuterie classic. The hot chocolate flight had three small shot glasses of hot chocolate. Each of the flavors was delicious, it definitely didn't taste like Swiss Miss (thank goodness because it is pricey). The charcuterie board we got was huge. We originally weren't going to get it, but after seeing other tables with it, we decided on it. We split it between two people and it was more than enough food for us. Both of the things we got were quite pricey, and our drinks didn't have alcohol. The service we had was okay but a bit slow, though the restaurant was packed. The room we were in was also so loud, we had to yell at each other to talk. Now the inside of Urban Roast is the whole reason to go. It is so over the top Christmas (they do it up for other times of the year but I have only been for Christmas). It will get you in the mood for Christmas, and you can get plenty of cute Instagram pictures. They also have some outdoor seating with fire pits which looked like fun. OVERALL: cute and festive bar with holiday themed drinks. DRINKS: This review is strictly for the drinks as we did not order food. We came here for the hot chocolate flights. For $38, you get 3 tiny hot chocolate cups - 1 marshmallow, 1 regular, 1 caramel. I believe they are all Baileys. They were good but no where near worth the price. SERVICE: our waiter had difficulty with our check and service generally was a bit odd VENUE: this place is decorated every season. This time for Christmas. The decorations were great and festive. There were tons of people there and I believe there is a rooftop. We were on the main floor inside and it was really cold. read more
Hate to roast this restaurant, but it's all decor and no delight. It was clear this is meant to be an instafluencer hot spot- they deck it out with seasonal decor. Don't get me wrong it was mighty impressive, but if they put half that effort into the food they could've had a winner. The service was good, we had a large party and were seated and served pretty quickly. We got a few shareable boards and they all were lack luster. The hangover board featured what looked like day old pastries, a pile of scrambled eggs, and some bacon. Just like a hangover this board looked and tasted like a mess: the quality of the food just wasn't there. The other boards weren't much better- the toast board was passable. But overall they were confusing with entire slice of oranges and apples that were too hard to eat. The fall coffee sampler was a bit of a gimmick but I enjoyed the experience. However, it's more cost effective to just get 3 of the full size and split with friends if you can. The brown sugar latte was flavorful and definitely the star. Overall, if your goal is a photo, this place is it. If your goal is to eat, this place is a pass. read more
If you want cute Instagram stories/posts this is your place as it's wonderfully decorated with beautiful floral arrangements perfect for photos! But if you want good food and customer service please go elsewhere. Our waiter was nice but either distracted, working multiple tables (which I doubt as the place was not busy) or simply inattentive. When our orders finally arrived all the dishes were just meh at best (2/5) and it was just a less than seasoned burger and side salad which came overly dressed (found that odd). My cousin treated me to a birthday dinner here during the week before a concert at Capital One Arena. Our reservation was at 5:30 PM on a Tuesday. The restaurant did not get busy until about an hour after we arrived. We were greeted with a friendly smile and quickly escorted to our table. The restaurant is gorgeous! Floor to ceiling, flowers, and colorful lighting. We heard mixed reviews about the food, so we played it safe and ordered Salmon Caesar Salads. We were extremely expressed with our salads. They were delicious, and the salmon was HUGE! The carrot cake was okay, but not sweet enough for my taste. The birthday plating was nice, and I enjoyed the great service. I recommend this restaurant for a cute ladies celebration, however, I will saw quite a few couples there as well. read more
A very trendy restaurant that has beautiful seasonal decorations. There are many different rooms, but note that it can be quite loud at times. The service is good, but I was a little disappointed by the drinks. We went for their seasonal flavors of the Espresso Martini Flight. We found the portions to be small and lacked the distinct flavor between each, as they all had the same base. Can't rate their food, but I'm a little skeptical coming back for their drinks. read more

Reservation needed so if you are in Washington for a short quick time, you might be sent to the bar area. Which you might think it's a bad idea BUT it is when all they played was depressing Christmas Carols. We stopped by be has it has good areas to take pictures with friends and/or lived ones. The decor is beautiful, warming, and breath taking. We only tried the chips & guacamole which were good. Drinks are well served yet a bit ridiculous on the price, yet most of that area in Washington is as such. Waitress's service was a bit dry, yet the bar was pack, so we could see she was up and down. We stopped by for drinks and pictures yet the music played in the bar was the same Christmas Songs played throughout the establishment. Suck killed the ambiance of enjoying the drinks. It was requested to have different music played but was told that they couldnt. read more
Had dinner and drinks here. The inside is spacious and has seasonal decorations, but I didn't like the low ceilings and lack of windows. I tried their Brown Sugar Spiced Espresso Martini. It was good but not worth 20 dollars in my opinion. There are better espresso martinis in dc for cheaper. Similarly, the Old Fashioned I ordered was good but pricy. For food I tried the dynamite shrimp, flank steak, crab cake sandwich, and red velvet cake. I didn't feel like anything I ate is worth writing home about. I felt that everything tasted average and was expensive for what you get. I would come back here for their happy hour drink deals if I was in the area but not the food. read more
I had seen the pictures on Instagram that showed how beautiful the interior of this place is and that was not a lie. Each part of the restaurant was decorated. Although the place that we were say was a tad intimate, we were able to sit comfortably. Each section of the restaurant seemed to have it's own design theme. We saw in a walkway that had beautiful flowers all over. The menu looks great and pricing was reasonable, in my opinion. Our waitstaff was pleasant and made recommendations. I only ordered the strawberry lemonade mojito. It was delicious. The other person in my party ordered the magi mojito and the Dynamite shrimp. She expressed that her drink was delicious and that the shrimp was good. I felt like the sauce for the shrimp Should have had more spice. It tasted more on the sweeter side for me. I would go back. This seems like more of a tapas spot/sit down bar. read more

I was nervous to try this place because I thought it was just an Instagram trap lol. The place is very photo-friendly, even the ladies bathroom. But the food at brunch was actually really good! Two of us shared the breakfast board with steak, eggs, potatoes, fruit and pastries. It was actually a lot of food and the steak was so good! You can also add on bottomless mimosas and can swap out the juice flavors. Great spot for a fun brunch! read more
Now that I've been here quite a few times, the atmosphere is still absolutely incredible, the drinks great, but the food is awful...they REALLY need to step it up. I changed my rating to 4 stars from 5 because the food has consistently been so bad. Drinks great, as always, the food...not so much. Came here because of the Instagram hype and ended up full of disappointment. Great job to the restaurant's social media management. Seems like the focus was on the ambiance which was absolutely stunning but the food was an afterthought. Hotel buffet at best. I asked for extra crispy bacon and got greasy raw; had to send back. Scramble eggs on top of my avocado toast were kind of runny. Breakfast potatoes were undercooked. Service was okay, nothing extraordinary. Urban Roast is a once and done for me. read more

Honestly, the place was more about vibes rather than the actual food. The chips were too salty, the dip was okay at best. The salad was good but was advertised as Caesar when it tasted more like italian. It was also really expensive. My boyfriend liked his food but for the price it was alright. The drinks were $12 for very small cups. Honestly just go somewhere else for the price. read more
We came here in the middle of the day on a Monday. The place was empty. They didn't have the AC on high given the heatwave which was disappointing. The place is beautiful. Great for Instagram photos. The waiter was nice. Our food was good. I got the halloumi and a side of toast. He got the avocado toast with a side of mashed potatoes. The bathrooms were nice as well. Would come back. This place is great for someone looking to take cute pictures and have a good cocktail. Their food is only average and it is overpriced. However, the decor is beautiful and changes by the season and they made one of the best margaritas I've ever had. The service was also great! I wouldn't come here for a full meal as I just don't think it's worth it, but would definitely come again for a drink and the atmosphere. read more
What a fun place! You wouldn't know how much space is inside the bar from the small entrance and few outside seating. Happy hour is a great time to go for the specials, but the music became LOUD while we were there and it was very difficult to hear each other even at a small, two-person table. read more
I came here for the first time with a friend for brunch. The parking situation is typical DC street parking, so get it how you live. We made a reservation for 11:15AM and were seated immediately. The host seemed nice and the bartender complimented me on my hat. The place has all the vibes as you can tell based on the pictures. It's dimly lit and it's wall to wall to ceiling covered in florals. There's also cute neon signs for all of your social media posts. The fare appears to be mostly shareables so my friend and I got the rise and shine board and ordered a side of eggs. It doesn't come with eggs so you have to order a side, trust me you'll want the eggs. The board comes with jam on it, but the board doesn't come with biscuits. So we didn't understand why jam would be on the board. Nonetheless, we got biscuits to go with our jam lol. I had a mango margarita mocktail which was quite good. The rise and shine board was really good and filling for two persons as well. The service, well that's what brings things down just a notch. The server seemed a little hurried when it came to taking our order. She also rushed my friend to sign my check for me while I was in the bathroom which is quite frankly unacceptable. Apparently forgery is a common practice as they've indicated they've had friends sign for other friends on numerous instances. Just because you've done something before doesn't make it right. Where is the best place to sit during Christmas time?
I am not sure. I have only been there in October. I bet it is going to look great for Christmas though.

I would assume they serve food until they close (midnight) on Friday.

They have bigger tables for six or eight people

No it stays crowded and busy so seating is usually in high demand.
