My friend and I went to an event at MLK Library and decided to try this place out afterwards since it's right across the street. Some places focus on aesthetic and ambiance more than the food- this is one of those places. While it's very cute inside, I don't think I would return. It was empty except for one other couple, so we were sat immediately. The glasses were already on the table and mine was visibly dirty. The waitress replaced it with a different kind of glass, filled our water and gave us time to look at the menu. We mainly just wanted a drink, but decided to split an appetizer. We got the guacamole and chips,but it was just mashed avocado. There was no tomato or onion and very little cilantro in it. I got a mule and my friend got a drink off of their specialty drink menu and we each got a green tea shot. We loved our drinks and the green tea shots were perfectly made. We split a slice of creme brulee cheesecake. It was thick, hard and not bruleed at all. Our bill came out to $94 and change for just 1 appetizer, 2 drinks, 2 shots and 1 dessert. It's run more like a bar, we had to consistently remind our server to bring drinks that we ordered sometimes 20 minutes prior. I think really just leaning into bar foods and avoiding some of the high end plates would maybe calls for better ratings here. I knew I shouldn't get the lamb shank, but I did and it wasn't horrible, but that's also not really the thing that's necessary to get here. Okay! Soooo... we originally came for the s'mores dessert, but unfortunately they were out of marshmallows, so that was a huge disappointment. Instead, we ordered the tiramisu and the red velvet cake, both served with vanilla ice cream. They were absolutely delicious! I also ordered an espresso martini, and I highly recommend it. The service was great. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and very sweet throughout the evening. The ambiance was beautiful too, especially with the cherry blossom décor throughout the restaurant. The only real miss for me was the guacamole. It's advertised as homemade, and our waitress confirmed that it was, but I honestly have to disagree. It was overly mushy, almost like it had been puréed, and it lacked the fresh flavor and texture I'd expect from homemade guacamole. We didn't order any entrées since we originally stopped by just for the s'mores, so I can't speak to the main menu. What a wild experience. The waitress was constantly confused when we put in orders for things that were on the menu (juice flavors for mimosas, certain empanadas) that they didn't actually have. Arguably the worst meal of 2025 for me. We showed up for our reservation and the hostess told us it would be another 20 minutes. As you can see in multiple reviews, reservation time doesn't really matter. We knew we'd be packed in, but our table was absolutely smushed. I would get bumped by another patron or server every couple of minutes with how tight fitting it is. You're here for the vibes, but both the food and drinks were misses. The holiday drink menu didn't come in themed cups and didn't seem appropriate, despite being $20 per cocktail. No one ordered a second one for a reason. My friend who ordered a diet coke did not receive it until she asked if she was going to be charged for it by the end of the meal, so they finally brought it out. We were asked for a side if we wanted chips, fries, or a salad. We ordered fries and lo and behold were charged $3 extra for them each with no warning and no label on the menu for that. Food was mediocre and served on cafeteria style plastic plates. The fries weren't good and my gyro tasted not fresh. They genuinely don't care about the garbage they're serving you. My friends and I went to Urban Roast to see their Christmas set up and it did not disappoint. Every inch of the place was covered with lights and decorations. It really put us in the holiday spirit. We only had drinks and some small plates. We had the guacamole and empanadas, which were both average. We split the 48 oz espresso martini and it was very good. This Christmas dinner missed the mark for us. The place is well decorated in an "over the top" Christmas wonderland, we loved this. The menu offered a variety of options and seemed to be a great place for my wife and I for our annual Christmas dinner. We were sat right on time for our 6:30pm reservation, despite the restaurant seeing to be at full capacity. The host was pleasant and professional, you could tell he was not new to the business. Throughout the dinner, we noticed teamwork from the staff in drink and food running and pre-bussing. Unfortunately, this is where the compliments end. Well, I am very cognizant of how busy a server can get, we sat for no less than five minutes before greeted by our server with waters and then waited another 8 to 10 minutes to get our drinks. The three course special we had our eye on had two of the three elements replaced with something else, understandable in a busy environment, but still disappointing. The bacon ranch dip was pretty solid and came out quickly, I would order that again. The spiced cucumber margarita was also very solid. My wife and I both ordered short rib, it missed the mark. Her cut was extremely fatty, and mine was not nearly as tender and "pull-apart-able" as I am accustomed to at other restaurants. I tend to order short rib a lot. I recognize that it could have just been an off night for that dish, but our service was just not up to par. I felt like I had to flag down our server for water refills, another drink, and to remind him about the dessert, my wife ordered. Again, holiday dining, and a full house tend to lead to a busy server. Unfortunately, it all just left us underwhelmed, for a place at this price point. Someone should have noticed the broken glass before a customer and then the next reaction should be I am so sorry let me fix that. Also my husband tried to order a beer on the menu but they were apparently out and then a bourbon but they had to go downstairs to maybe get it so was left to his 3rd choice. Very disappointing experience. If anything, this is a get drinks or dessert only spot because of the instagram-able flowers. Upon arriving, they had ladders all around the restaurant to take down decor (instead of redecorating when closed) and instead of a warm greeting the woman said "hi can I help you?" Despite this, we were optimistic. However, the food was just not great, especially for the price. The chips were clearly from a bag and not house-made, the fries were absolutely cooked from frozen, the meats even tasted previously frozen or just overcooked on both the gyro and the dip sandwich. The decor is beautiful and they have so many different rooms with different decor. They had a typical Christmas tree section, what I called a pink candy land, and a grinch room. AMBIANCE: It is pretty dimly lit inside, but the décor was really vibing with the spring and cherry blossom theme. They have a QR code on the table to scan for the menu, however, I do prefer if they had physical menus. They have a lot of LED signs for photos. When you walk in there is a little photo station with a couch, where you can take pictures with a group. They do have a professional photographer as well, but you need to purchase a frame for $20 to actually get your photos. They also have outdoor seating. There is very limited street parking outside as well. Bathrooms have separate male and female stalls, but the washroom is shared between both genders. I highly recommend making a reservation - it does require a $25 hold on your credit card for cancellation purposes though. FOOD: I got the European Cheese Board ($22), which came with a 3 slices of blackberry (?) goat cheese, a sharp cheese (I am thinking Havarti or aged cheddar), burrata with a slight drizzle of glazed balsamic, and a softer cheese. It also came with sliced oranges, grapes, a ton of olives, and a few crackers, I do wish they provided more crackers. It was not enough with the amount of cheese the gave. Other than that, the board was pretty much worth the $22 and generous in cheese selections - however, I do wish they labelled what kind of cheese they gave. Grilled Chicken Breast ($14) with mashed potatoes ($4): the chicken was a bit chewy and the texture was a bit off, but seasoned well. The mashed potatoes were well-seasoned as well and slightly chunky in texture. Asparagus ($8): for 5 pieces of undercooked asparagus, the price was not worth it. Chicken Caesar Salad ($17): I was surprised to see a small portion for the Caesar salad, despite the price. Chicken was cooked better on this dish, but I can't believe the portion size was so small. DRINKS: Sakura Spritz ($20): contained gin, elderflower, lavender, sour mix and prosecco. Right from the first sip, it tasted so sweet and sour and not bubbly at all. I had to ask for a little more prosecco to balance our the sourness at least. Pink Petal Cosmo ($19): contains vodka, cherry blossom syrup, orange liqueur, and sour mix. Definitely a sweeter cocktail. SERVICE: When I got the Pink Petal Cosmo, the server (which was not even our server), was spilling the drink as she walked to our table. Some of the cocktail spilled on the table as she placed it down. She failed to apologize or even wipe the table, which I thought was inconsiderate. Also, I don't believe you should be reaching over someone to place a drink on the table. You can just walk to where they are seated. For the amount of money we were spending here, I expected better service. Our server, Juan, was really kind. My issues however were that when my party of 5 asked for French fries, instead of telling them that the kitchen ran out of fries, they were served mashed potatoes instead - as if that was okay. I think they should have been asked what substitute they would have wanted before just serving them whatever side they wanted. My friend had also asked for aspagus, but never recieved it until she mentioned it to our server again. By the time, he brought it out, it was too late. She took a bite of it and noticed that it was also undercooked. Also, $8 for 5 pieces of asparagus is a bit ridiculous. When we were ready to leave, it took a while for Juan to come to our table to provide us with a check. We tried to be patient as the restaurant was busy, but it was approaching closer and closer to our train departure time. I had to flag down another server to get the check. Juan had brought us the check and I asked him for a to-go box and bag. He brought ne the to-go box, but no bag. He ended up being held up by another table for a while, which I understand is not entirely his fault. The portions didn't justify the cost either. I spent $91 on a lemonade mocktail, five mozzarella sticks, a kids fettuccini alfredo and chicken and waffles that was literally two chopped tenders and a waffle cut into quarters. $91! The service didn't help the situation either. It felt slow and inattentive, which made the whole experience drag even more. This is one of those places that prioritizes vibes over substance. Came here for brunch around the holidays and was absolutely blown away by the decor! Plenty of photo-worthy spots here and a great place to get into the festive mood. We had originally made a reservation for a table outside, but the hostess was very kind and accommodating when we said we'd prefer to sit inside because of the cold weather. The restaurant quickly filled up soon after we were sat, which led to some extremely slow service, even for drinks. I shared the Hangover breakfast board and although the presentation of it was very cute, the food was just okay. The eggs were nothing special and the steak was underwhelming and a little too chewy for my liking. Even the macarons on the board weren't that great, as most of them had this jelly-like filling that threw me off since I'm used to a more creamy filling in macarons. This was especially disappointing because it was meant to be a special evening -- I had taken my goddaughters out for a belated Galentine's celebration. I chose this restaurant hoping it would feel warm and memorable. Instead, we were shivering through dinner. The food was just okay -- and very overpriced for what you actually get. Service was the biggest issue. Our waitress took our order and then completely disappeared. We never saw her again. Someone else delivered the food, but after that, no one checked on our table. I needed black pepper for my Caesar salad and lemon wedges for my salmon, but despite repeatedly trying to flag down other servers, I was told I had to wait for "my server." Even after our plates were cleared, we waited another 30 minutes before I finally convinced someone else to bring the check -- since our waitress was nowhere to be found. Ironically, we did see her as we were walking out. In a surprisingly accusatory tone, she asked if we had paid. Between the freezing temperature, mediocre food, and nonexistent service, what should have been a sweet, celebratory evening turned into a frustrating experience. We won't be returning. read more

There were so many different spots where you could take your official Christmas picture. I started my meal with an appetizer, which was the smoked brisket dip with tortilla chips. It was creamy and delicious with just a tiny touch of heat. I love brisket, but never had it in a dip before so that was a treat. For my entrée, I had the short rib and mashed potatoes with a side of asparagus. The meal was aesthetically pleasing & flavorful, but for $36 I definitely think you should get more than two small slices of short rib. My friend had the pork dish & it was the same thing, just two small slices of meat. I love a restaurant with a good mocktail menu and this place didn't disappoint. There were quite a few options, but I decided on the lavender lemonade and the mango margarita. Each drink was $10. For dessert, I had the classic s'mores. You can reserve an outdoor table in advance and make them yourself in their fire pit, or you can have them torched table side if you dine indoors. There were no outdoor tables available so I enjoyed it inside. As a former Girl Scout, I'm a sucker for this treat and it's always been one of my favorites. The graham cracker was crispy, the marshmallow was pillow soft, & they torched the chocolate to make sure it melted. It was perfect. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful, the restaurant is decked out more than any other I've seen in DC so definitely recommend coming here once. Speaking to everything else, I wasn't impressed. The Cesar salad was great, however, because of the pink light the lettuce looked brown (it was very green when I used my flashlight) and they say you eat with your eyes first. My girlfriend and I got some really good and sweet pics. The food was good. We ordered oat milk lattes to begin, and then had the fruit plate as an appetizer. My girlfriend had the breakfast platter, which she liked. I had the avocado toast, and I wouldn't order that again. The food is so good here, but I didn't love that- the bread was just mediocre and there wasn't enough avocado. I didn't wanna order more, so I ate half of it. It came with some good greens, which was nice! The service was amazing, and they've upgraded their dining chairs since the last time I was here. It was a totally top notch experience!
