I came here with a group of friends right before Halloween, and guys, the decor was seriously fun and spooky!! There were so many photo opportunities!! They have plenty of seating on the patio and inside, so bring friends. It was the perfect vibe for a casual night out. All my friends tried different cocktails, and we shared a huge and really yummy charcuterie board. The tequila flight was really fun and nice, but the special that day was martinis. Went here for dinner on Saturday. The star is for the decor, and for the understanding that they may have been overwhelmed by Art All Night going on across the street. Everything else was ROUGH. For starters, we had to send a drink back after getting brought the wrong one. When it got brought back, it still didn't taste like what we'd ordered (we'd had it in our first round, and this was our second, and we suspect they didn't actually add the bourbon, ya know, the key part), but it was so hard to get service we just sucked it up. Maybe try not having the music so loud during dinner hours that servers and patrons can't hear each other? It also would help if you trained your servers to actually walk around the table instead of hanging out at the unoccupied end of it. Food was OK--that said, we didn't receive approximately half of it: none of the entrees we'd ordered, and missing one of the apps we'd ordered! This was explained away by the fact that they "ran out of tacos." OK, but what in God's name were you doing for the past hour and a half since we'd ordered (ordered at about 715, got told at about 845)? Also, those tacos were only two of the four things we were missing--what happened to our pasta dish and our other app we never got (this was never explained)? By the time this all came to light, we'd been there for nearly two hours and had another place we needed to be, so we told them to take everything else off the bill. Waiter then disappears for a while, claiming he can't void anything and needs a manager. Bill comes back, and we ask for an itemized one, since our service has been messing up all night and we don't trust them. Sure enough, they've only taken off two of the four things they never brought us, and left the other two--including one of the taco orders that they knew they were out of, having already had to take one off, so why they split it up instead of taking off both is baffling. The server then tried to wiggle out of changing the bill, stating that he'd have to "void everything but the charge would still be on the card for a couple days," which apparently he thought would be a problem since he'd have to re-swipe the card for the correct amount. We told him that was fine, so he tried to squeak out AGAIN by asking if we wanted lemon drop shots to "save us the trouble." No, he wasn't offering us comped drinks--he was asking us to PAY for shots that we DID NOT ORDER so that he could substitute those charges for what we needed removed from the bill, all so that it would save HIM the trouble of having to change the bill AGAIN, which was only happening because he messed it up the first two times. At this point, I was really beginning to suspect he was high. But wait! There's more! We get brought the bill for the THIRD time, and he snatches it back, saying "oops, I thought there were 5 of you, but there are 6, so I need it back to add the auto gratuity!" HAHAHAHA yes, this man thought he deserved a full tip! We let this one slide, because it was truly a restaurant policy that was already printed on the menu, but he is damn lucky it is! Also, I am utterly bewildered how he couldn't manage to count to the number 6, especially when we'd all been at the table for two hours. It's a shame, because this was not my first time there, and it was previously one of my favorite bars/restaurants, which is why we wanted to do a 30th (milestone!) birthday dinner there, but after that experience, I doubt I'll be back. read more

Popped into this spot for an impromptu late night date post-snow day. The decor is almost obnoxiously "Instagrammable" (see: neon cursive signs, wall fauxliage, etc.) but the festive touches made it feel sort of endearing to me. The hot chocolate and s'mores initially caught our eye when scouting the menu online, but unfortunately, due to the weather, the outdoor fire pits were out of commission. We instead paired our boozy hot chocolates ($14ish each) with the spicy crab dip. My classic hot chocolate with Baileys was the perfect temperature and richness- such a treat on a cold winter's night! The crab dip was piping hot and sufficiently crabby, if not a bit too mustard-forward and pricy ($19). The restaurant was fairly quiet when we arrived- likely due to the hour and the weather- so service was quick and attentive. I agree with others- come for the decor, eat somewhere else. This was my first time here and loved the decor. The staff is very nice but not very attentive. We went for brunch and after ordering it took almost 40 minutes for our food to arrive-a basic eggs/bacon/home fries plate and an açaí bowl. The egg plate came and all the food was stone cold. Normally I never send things back, but could not eat cold eggs. They remade it and it came out a few minutes later only slightly warm (I'm thinking they are keeping bacon/home fries at proper temps). The food itself was very average. Waitress was nice enough, but never checked if we wanted more drinks, the empty glasses and plates sat on table until we left. All in all, go for the fun holiday decor, have a drink, go elsewhere for food/service. read more

The Urban Roast is definitely a place I would try again. It's D.C., so of course you would have to do your best to find parking. As soon as you walk in the door, it's an immediate vibe. It's decorated beautifully. The lighting throughout is dim. The bathroom has roses hanging from the ceiling. The bathrooms only have stalls. The hand washing stations are shared. There's also a flower wall next to the bathroom for a good photo op. Our reservations were an hour away. However, the hostess was able and glad to seat us quickly. We didn't order a lot of food. But, everything that we ordered came quickly. We ordered basic menu items so what we had was as good as expected. The server was very nice. This place would be great for a girls night. read more

Skip it. There are a lot of good ideas on the menu, but the execution and ingredient quality is very underwhelming. I can do far better in my own kitchen, which begs the question - why am I spending $18 a plate for substandard, poorly done food? The sesame ahi tuna sounded good, but what was delivered to the table was large chunks of extremely fatty crap tuna that had no seasoning on it at all other than the drop of sauce around the top. The rest of it was tasteless and difficult to cut. Similarly, the tiny premade shells of bruschetta philo tasted like shots of balsamic vinegar that may or may not have had a couple pieces of chopped tomato in it. The environment itself was trying to be unique and trendy, but it fell flat. The plastic roses are kitchy and the place feels like it's trying way too hard to the point of disingenuousness. Visited at 730 on a Friday, it was pretty crowded. This is my 2nd time visiting and I always love how they switch up the decor. The Halloween decor has to be my faveee. I always get the spicy crab dip it's a 10/10. Although this is the 2nd time the food runner has brung Buffalo chicken dip instead of the spicy crab. They look VERY similar but I'd recommend a better protocol for sending out food just incase someone doesn't eat meat, wouldn't want them to end up with the wrong item. I was super excited to come here for the hot chocolate flight, the interesting coffee cocktails, and the smores-- turns out the smores are actually done outside over a firepit (cool!) but we came on a rainy night and the website didn't specify this, so we were disappointed to learn that the dessert we were looking forward to wouldn't happen. Food was mediocre for the most part, with drinks being the main event. A couple people in my party had dirty utensils, which was a bit of a turn off though the waitress was nice enough and checked with all of us when we asked her for a new set. Omg! This place is not only Tiktok worthy, but the food and wait staff are amazing!! I've been here twice and both times loved everything about this place. The first time, I came with a group if girlfriends for brunch and we ordered three boards. The boards were amazing but I definitely wanted my own entree the next time. The second time I came, I ordered three tacos and they were so yummy!!! When you walk into this place it's flowers, glamour, and fantasy all over the walks and ceilings. They even have a hallway with tables where the walks are completely covered in roses; the only downside is that those tables are for parties of 2 or less. The bathrooms are gorgeous and clean. Cute interior but we went for patio seating because we had our pup with us. We went Tuesday late afternoon for a quick drink and it was quiet. My boyfriend had the old fashion and I had the caffe flight (non alcoholic). The old fashion was ok, the bartender came out to pour it for a nice smokey drink moment. Excellent cocktails with an expansive menu of drink options and seasonal specialties! The place was chaos the week before Christmas with all the holiday decorations and we had a fairly long wait even with a reservation. They didn't seem to manage the reservation process very well but everything else was very good in a festive and fun environment. The service was prompt and the drinks were good! Also better pricing than some other Xmas bars like Miracle where you pay $20+ a drink. I wouldn't go here to eat dinner but I would definitely go back for drinks and appetizers. Cheers! read more

The perfect holiday event for you and your friends! I'm sure you've seen the infamous TikTok video on the cute outdoor s'mores area. It's definitely worth it, but make sure to book in advance. The s'mores menu is extensive and even includes an option to have a s'more with banana (!!). The servers were very attentive and even gave us extra graham crackers to share. You can't have s'mores without hot chocolate, so make sure you add that to your order! Came here for happy hour on a Wednesday. I saw this place on TikTok and figured it would be crowded since it was a really nice day out, but there was no one there lol. We sat outside. The tables are really low which is kind of annoying for eating. My friend said last time she came they lit the fires on the outdoor tables since you only have 90 minutes to dine, but they didn't do it for us (maybe because it's warm outside & it wasn't crowded?) There's no food deals for happy hour, and drinks are only a couple dollars off. I got the strawberry lemonade mojito and it was DELICIOUSSS but not very strong. After that we ordered two regular margaritas ($15 each) they were horrible, like bad bad. We asked to send it back and the server said "you didn't see the print at the bottom of the menu?" I said no, she shows me on the bottom of the menu it states "ALL FOOD AND BEVERAGE SALES ARE FINAL" (thats a clear warning) I was blown away, I don't remember ever seeing that at any restaurant in my life- and with our experience with the food and drinks, im sure they had to put that or they wouldn't make any sales. Tonight my boyfriend and I went to the outdoor s'mores set up and it was so cute and perfect for a date night. We did make our reservation ahead of times which I highly recommend. We started off with Bozy White chocolates and the buffalo chicken dip which were both great!! Then we got the Mac and cheese trio which was good but the bacon Mac n cheese was easily the best. Then ended the night with espresso martinis and the salty caramel s'more and the nutty buddy s'more! The fire was perfect and kept my hands warm but still keep on a nice warm jacket!! My friend and I saw this place on TikTok and were so excited to try it! I reserved our table for Saturday at 8. We arrived there about 10-15 minutes prior, and were told that there was a $75 minimum after a certain time, and that they were overbooked and we could either leave or wait an undetermined amount of time for a spot to open up. This was disappointing since I had made a reservation for a reason, but we decided to wait anyway. We waited about 30-45 minutes and then a table opened up. I do not regret eating here one bit! The cocoa was tasty and it was a lot of fun roasting smores at the table. The waiters and waitresses were overly friendly, coming by almost every 10 minutes asking how we were doing. I will definitely return here during a day/time when they are less busy. Went out for a girls night. The ambiance was a cute and intimate setting. It is a little small in the seating area, a little tight but we managed. Recommended date night spot We set up a reservation for outdoor seating on a Tuesday afternoon; the place was fairly crowded outside, but we were seated quickly. The tables are small and impractical with limited space for plates and drinks but they have their own bbq coals to start a fire on a cold night, which is really convenient. The menu has many options, making decisions harder. But I decided to begin with the spinach and artichoke dip, a blood orange margarita, and a green tea shooter. The dip came in a hot dish with multicolour tortilla chips. I noticed the plate was cracked in the corner and fit awkwardly on the edge of the table. We asked for an extra plate so we could split the appetizer, which was otherwise difficult to share. The drinks were awesome and I ended up ordering an extra green tea shooter. I would also recommend the cinnamon White Russian (we didn't order it but the guy next to me did and it looked amazing). After the appetizer, we dove into the lobster salad which was served cold on a toasted onion roll. It was okay. There wasn't much lobster but instead, lots of different seafood mixed together. I think some fresh lemon or greens would have pulled the dish together. It came with chips, which I dipped into the artichoke dip. LOL Disappointed with the lobster salad, we thought we would play it safe and order empanadas (cheese and chicken). The chicken was a bit dry. Fortunately, it came with a sort of chipotle sauce with a light kick (not too much). Service was okay, but nothing special. The decor is Insta-worthy, so a great spot for brunch with the girls. Ok let me just say I looove this place. I took my friend for her birthday today. It wasn't busy so it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves and all of the employees welcomed all of our shenanigans. Our server was Phillip and he was THE BEST!!!! We had a pitcher of the Mango margarita which was delicious, the The Belgian board (soooo good), the rise and shine board (very yummy), the buffalo chicken dip (that was ok), and the spinach dip ( we didn't care too much for).
