I came on a weekday during lunch. There were plenty of other people there during their lunch breaks as well, hopedully meaning that the fish there kept moving and was more likely to be fresh. The prices included tax, which is great. It was $8.50 for 2scoops of protein and $10 for 3 scoops. The regular Uroko Original sauce with sesame oil is a great option if you aren't looking for a heavy-flavored sauce. The toppings are self-serve, another amazing thing I love about this place. This saves me the embarrassment of naming off almost everything they have. When I went, they also had a promotion for a free miso soup on the weekdays between 10 and 2:30. read more

I like that avocado and krab are included in your poke bowl, however, the sauces and the self-serve condiments were lackluster in my opinion. Uroko Cafe is one of maybe 2 poke places in the Cypress area and this is probably the better of the two. It's down the street from my work, and whenever I have a poke craving, this does the job. On to my 3-tier review! Quality: A The quality of the tuna, salmon, albacore, eel, and other proteins are about on par with what I expect of poke. Anything less than A-grade seafood I try to avoid. This place does it right. The portions are small with that tiny ice cream scoop, but at least the quality is done right. Price: B I typically don't expect to spend $10 on a poke bowl, but I get it. It's a new building, the store has to make a profit somehow, so $10 for a 3 protein poke bowl is on the high end of reasonable, but at least the quality of ingredients makes up for it. The self serve toppings is where you stretch your $ the most. Masago eggs, garlic chips, cilantro, furakake, etc are all to your liking. This place is very clean, the staff very helpful. If you're unsure what to order, just ask! I had the small bowl. There are 4 steps... 1st step the base, I chose brown rice and salad, step 2 the side, I chose crabmeat (imitation) cucumber, avocado (xtra cost); step 3 protein, chose tuna and shrimp, and finally step 4, the sauce... chose original Uroko sauce medium with spicy mayo, and sesame oil. Finally they had a self topping bar which I added cilantro, green onions, and furikake seasoning. And OMG it was soooooo good! They also give you Miso soup. Came by for a late lunch and got a small bowl with salmon and tuna. I like the idea of the self serve toppings but that was about it. Compared to other poke places I thought this place was expensive, other restaurants give you at least 3 choice of fish with a small bowl. The person that made my bowl put way too much sauce in. It was salty and I couldn't even finish the rice. I just fished out the tuna and salmon. When I asked about the different sauces the guy wasn't very sure which is fine considering it just opened. My boyfriend asked him about a particular sauce and the guy described it as a little bit of everything, But it was more like a lot of everything. The price is same as fish. And scoop size of the tofu and edamame is pretty tiny. Raw fish goes a long way. Not so much edamame. For vegetarian bowls they should make up price point with an extra scoop of the much less expensive tofu or edamame. Uroko is great! I really love poke bowls and this has got to be one of my favorites so far. The amount of food they give you is worth the money that you're paying, but the interesting thing about this place is the self-serve topping bar. I'll admit, I had my reservations about something being self-serve because that just means other people have been touching it, but I liked being able to put as much of the toppings on my bowl as I wanted. This place is in a new place in cypress and has a pretty much the same kind of poke as every other poke spot in LA. I'm giving a 4 star because I'm comparing it to other poke spots in LA and not Hawaii. I had a medium bowl with brown rice. The protein I got was tuna, salmon, and eel. The sides I got were avocado and imitation crab. The sauce I got was the Uroko medium spicy sauce. I think it's basically a spicy ponzu sauce. The bowl was really good, the eel was okay... It was kinda chewy. If I'm in the area and feeling like poke I would eat here again. I like how they let you put as much furikake, Masato and other topping as you want. read more

Most of the Poke joints in Southern Cal just isn't as good as the ones in Hawaii. This is the first one in Socal that is on par with Hawaii's Poke joints. The fish is good quality and they prepare the fish properly cut against the grain (that is, not stringy). Of course Poke ordered at a "good" Japanese Restaurants are generally very good but generally much more expensive. Conclusion: The Uroko Cafe is good quality at a resonnable price. read more

This place gets 5 stars because it's easily the best poke bowl I've had. I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty picky about fresh fish and this place (bar one or two less than desirable pieces in the many bowls I have had) is consistently delicious. I always get all salmon, so if you're looking for a review of some of the other fish, I can't speak to that. The salmon is great, and they are very generous with their toppings. I don't get crab so I usually ask for lots of cucumber and they give it to me without any trouble. I LOVE that you get a scoop of avocado at no additional charge as well...huge selling point for me. Once they mix your bowl, there is a self-serve topping bar at the end which is amazing because I can load up on all the ginger, toasted garlic and sesame seeds I want sans judgement! I've Heard wonders about Uroko Cafe from my cousins. They rave about it all the time. Problem was I live in Buena Park and their other two locations I believe were in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. Location was spacious and lots of parking. I believe they strive for lunch in this area. I'm sure lunch can get pretty packed especially since there is lots of commercial buildings near by. There was only a few people dining in. No line. I think its just because its fairly new. Not everyone know about this place yet. For the food. I ordered a medium bowl with brown rice. Comes with 3 scoops of fish and any toppings including avocado at no additional charge. That is a plus in my book. I'm not a fan of seaweed salad but if you wanted that its additional charge of $1.50. After they season your fish they offer a do it yourself toppings bar. The simple things in life make it all better. You can grab as much toppings on the side or even top it on your bowl. Toppings include sesame seeds, wasabi, ginger, fried onions, fried garlic, tempera crunchiness, dried seaweed, ma sago eggs, jalapeno, etc... The list goes on. Fish was fresh. Sauces are simple. Staff and service was excellent. Another plus! I love their soda bar! Never tried or heard of Stubborn sodas before till now. I love the black cherry soda. Some of these Poke places give you very small portions making for an unsatisfying meal but not at Uroko Cafe they take care of the customers! Just happened to goto this place last night by chance when my usual stop (poki doki) happened to be closed. Here's a lil review of the newly opened poki joint.... In terms of the number of the proteins you can get, one more is offered compared to most places that would serve you say 4 for a large (here you would get 5) and 3 for a medium (here you would get 4). In my opinion the protein wars in terms of how many you get amongst various poke joints is getting out of hand. Anything beyond 3 or 4 types of protein in one bowl really doesn't make it taste that great. One upside to this place is that you can get unlimited toppings if you wish but it isnt really much of a deal since the options aren't exactly amazing. I really like the place, very clean establishment and simple straightforward poke without the fancy weird mixtures you get at other places. My only real gripe is that it's slightly more expensive than the other surrounding places. Not a deal breaker but just something to keep in mind, which is why I give it a 4 out of 5 read more

Easily the best poke bowl place in all of Orange County! The poke bowls are so flavorful and there's so many options of protein to choose from, including vegan options! They also give you a generous amount of protein with each scoop and you get 3 scoops for a medium bowl (which is what I got and uploaded a picture of below) and may I also add complimentary guac with each order!! You also don't have to get a classic poke bowl with rice. They have the option of getting either a salad, white rice, brown rice, chips, half and half or make it into a wrap. As a person who has eaten at the Uroko in Costa Mesa multiple times, I was very glad to hear that they opened one right next to my house in Cypress!! We came in on a Saturday night and it was empty, probably because they just opened. Usually at the other one it gets very busy and packed by dinner time, so I was glad to have peace and quiet while eating. Anyway, on with the review The service was good, we were greeted and asked if we needed help, so no complaints there. The food portions were big and they have a self-topping bar at the end too so you can get as much furikake, tobiko, garlic chips, etc (but I don't know if they'll take it out in the future). My ONLY complaint is that they they don't cut off the grey part of the salmon, other than that the cuts of the fish are fine and the fish was pretty fresh. Lastly, the food was very tasty and I got a large bowl which is $12. I will be back and I would recommend this place to others! They also have craft soda. I love poke and have been to multiple places around the area. Here's my breakdown of Uroko Cafe Pros: Unlimited toppings (if you're into those certain ones) Craft soda Good sauce variety Good fish variety Free avocado scoop Cleanliness Cons: No free seaweed salad Fish cuts were butchered poorly Price points not competitive While I appreciate the size differences where you can get small (2 scoops), medium (3 scoops), and large (5 scoops) the prices for each were higher than its competitors, likely to compensate for the unlimited toppings. For me, I'd rather go elsewhere and pay less for less toppings and more fish, but that's all personal preference, otherwise this place is good for what they have to offer. I give this place a 3.5 but round to 4 for its cleanliness and variety. Also note, no grand opening promotions. read more
