Salads, hummus, fruit, cakes and pastries rounded out the selection, along with a very tasty herbal lemonade. The noise level in this café is completely unreasonable. At one point it felt like it was close to 90 dB. The staff were constantly shouting to each other across the café, loud music was playing, and customers had to raise their voices just to have a conversation. Instead of a pleasant café atmosphere, it felt chaotic and overwhelming. If you've ever wondered what it's like to eat your meal or hang out with your friends in the middle of a war zone, this café is the closest you'll get. If you're looking for a place to relax, work, study, or even have a normal conversation, I'd recommend going somewhere else. They also have a salad on the menu called Shiraz Salad, but it's not even remotely close to an authentic Shiraz salad. A traditional Shiraz salad is made with finely diced cucumber, tomato, and onion, dressed simply with verjuice or lemon juice. It does not contain avocado. Parking can be tricky as it is street-parking only. 1. Caffe Quadra (4.5/5) If you are dead tired or have a red eye, this is the drink for you. Extra strong coffee latte prepared with many (4) shots of espresso. It is dark roast, so has that nutty tone to it. It is slightly on the bitter side, but I like that it was not too acidic or sweet. 2. Rising Sun Matcha Latte (5/5) This is one of the best matcha drinks I've had outside my own home. You can taste the earthy matcha tones, along with nuttiness from the dark roast coffee, and slight sweetness from the dark chocolate. I got it with pistachio milk, which added a bit more nutty flavor. Overall, each flavor came through on its while complimenting one another in a balanced way. 3. Pistachio Latte (3.5/5) A very thick and creamy latte, which I assume is due to the use of pistachio butter and pistachio milk. The pistachio flavor is mild. What stood out is the strong espresso. They supposedly sprinkle Wazuka matcha, but because I got it to-go I couldn't tell as they do not do latte arts for to-go order. Towards the bottom of the cup, I did get clumps of something (probably butter?), which was a turn-off. The espresso has a deep earthy note to it and was on the acidic side. I haven't been to Urth Caffe in years as somebody who's grown up in LA and has frequented the different locations (Pasadena, Beverly Hills, Downtown) and even in Orange County. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This specific location is amazing, right in the heart of Melrose Place and has a corner street view which makes perfect for outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I came yesterday with a family member for lunch: I had the Avacado Toast and an Almond Croissant, which were both very filling and tasty. The green juice was a nice addition. The service was excellent, the cashiers were super friendly and quick along with the waiting staff being attentive and sweet. It was summer when we visited this place and a bit Hot inside, they only have a Ceiling Fan inside. My wife ordered for me and my son and she got us the CARROT CAKE, BERRIES CAKE, TIRAMISU, MATCHA LATTE . The berry cake is a little too sweet for me. Tiramisu was a good super super-moist inside. Carrot cake was dense but incredibly moist, I like this one. The matcha latte was also okay. Parking we didn't explore more if they have a Paid Parking structure nearby because we got a parking just in front of their place. Where you order your food and pay , the Staff has no smiles from their faces or positive Vibes , maybe they were too tired the day we visited and they are in the bad mood for a good customer service , but the ones who deliver the food are all friendly. My boyfriend is a HUGE fan of Entourage and @entouragemovie so he was excited to bring me here where this specific location was featured in the TV series and the movie, often appearing in the opening credits and in scenes throughout the show. It does get pretty busy and you place your order at the front where you'll get a number afterwards and they'll bring your food to you. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I don't know if it was just the hot weather but the day we went there were constant flies around us and near our food so we were not a fan of that environment. This European-style is known for brunch options (e.g. Panini Chicken El Diablo or Grilled Cilantro Chicken with Pesto Sandwich) as well as signature espresso drinks (Spanish Latte, Italian Cappuccino, Japanese Blessing Latte or Japanese Tea Latte). [Parking]: In hurry? Customers can pay $15 for valet parking. I had time and I found a metered street parking spot few blocks away near Pacific Design Center ($2 per hour and 2-hour max). [Atmosphere]: This is very popular 1st date spot - indoor tables? Check. Outdoor patio tables? Check. Nice neighborhood to walk around afterward? Check. [Conclusion]: Great vibe and decent drinks, but their drinks aren't exactly affordable ($7.50 for a small Japanese Tea Latte & the overhead menu did not show price for each drink) and parking is really a nightmare as there are other popular shops in this part of the neighborhood. Was waiting all week to visit here. Went on Saturday 9am with plenty of parking and were easily seated outdoors. We took the huevos rancheros in spinach tortillas and they were delicious. Avacado and scrambled eggs inside were so good!! Chocolate pistachio French toast was heavenly. I'm usually very mindful of macros and calories but I just couldn't resist this one. $25 is definitely expensive BUT generous crunchy pistachios, tons of fruits, super soft bread and mouth watering matcha and chocolate cream made me ignore the $$. Definitely coming over and over again and would love to try many things in the menu that sound very interesting. This place is a mixed bag of confusion. The space is great especially for the outdoor patio. I saw the menu and chose "Japanese Milk Tea". Great service and was seated immediately in a shaded outdoor location, great ambiance surrounded by the leaves and other patrons. We ordered a margarita pizza, sandwich, and wrap. All the food was high quality, a highlight was the pizza and I loved the fresh salads that came with everything. We also ordered a carrot cake, which was sub par. It was a little drier and more heavy, I prefer light cakes. But I did like the frosting. I recommend Urth Caffe, a great place to grab a bite and sit for a while on Melrose. I used to frequent this corner often when our beloved Bodhi Tree was across the street. I would have hopped over to Urth at some point, but that was a long time ago. Passing by, we thought we would revisit it. It's airy, pleasant, welcoming, and even pretty. I love the healthy philosophy, being a life long advocate for a more natural diet (our original diet, thousands of years ago? largely vegan, like the great apes). Urth has changed little in all this time and that is a good thing. We grabbed snacks and drinks and they were good. Celso was efficient and friendly, another good feature of a good-vibes place. The only downside is the nightmare parking (I had forgotten how bad it was in that corner) and we were in a hurry. There is valet parking, something we may not want to do when rushed, especially during the day. Still, it is good to re-connect with an old friend and see it keeping up with the times. We were in search for a late night hit chocolate and Urth Caffé was open, so we made our way over. I really like this location for the alfresco dining vibe, most of the seating is outside. Urth Caffe is always a good choice for a hangout spot/cafe - and the Melrose one is arguably one of the best!! I love so many things about this cafe - including the fact that there's PLENTY of tables and seating and you can pretty much always find somewhere to relax or work. The tables are also spread out, so you never feel cramped our pressed up against other groups of people. A lot of the food at Urth is very solid - although I usually come for a coffee or one of their other drinks during my visits. And many of their drinks truly are VERY creative, unique, and delicious! Amongst my favorites - just about ANY of their matcha lattes, the Spanish Latte, and also the Monkey Granita. Granitas are basically their version of a Frappuccino, and the Monkey Granita has espresso, organic matcha green tea, and banana milkshake. Sounds weird..yes, but it's also absolutely DELICIOUS! They ran out of pistachio chocolate croissant and the Nutella girella bun. So I ordered a chocolate croissant- the most disappointing item today. It wasn't buttery, airy, fluffy or chewy. It was stale and blah. $5 gone. King French Toast- not worth it. It was a big brick of bread with lots of strawberries and blueberries around it. The French toast is a wet style type of French toast. It came with a little syrup cup. It was a simple French toast, nothing special that I could get anywhere. It just had a nice presentation. Breakfast sausage side 2pcs- they were sooooooo juicy and flavorful. The breakfast sausages are worth it. Poached salmon- so delicious. The multi grain bread tasted better than it looked. Eggs were poached perfectly and the salmon was nice and salty. Salmon plate with onion bagel- the onion bagel was so much better than my chocolate croissant! The salmon and capers were perfect together. Cream cheese was whipped and fluffy. Roman tomatoes were very sweet. I used to work a block away and came here all the time (usually just order online and pick up). Yesterday I came for lunch with an old coworker that was in town. I got the curry chicken salad - one of my favs. It's so good and flavorful and blends well with the salad and vinaigrette. The line goes by pretty quickly, there are USUALLY seats available but that all depends. Overall, the staff is super friendly and the place is clean! I am always in and out getting a coffee drink (extensive menu) or their delicious pastries but never sat down to have a meal. I finally had breakfast and the portions were huge and delicious. Also, appreciated that they have various soups and various lunch items available even during breakfast times in case you are just not feeling eggs and bacon. Moreover, seems like it was hopping everyday at night during their dinner service as well. Its just a great neighborhood gem that has been around for ages and you see why. Its quality, prices and extensive menu is something in between a diner and trendy brunch service with prices that has not been inflated out of porportion. They have an outdoor area for great people watching since it does have heavy foot traffic and off to the side of Melrose. The service was efficient and courteous. They have fast turnover and constant customers so the service staff don't have the time to be overly friendly, which I actually prefer. Appreciated the practicality and efficiency over soulless smiles. No one looked miserable there. Parking can be hit or miss. If you know its during heavy traffic hours, just walk there if you are in the neighborhood. If you have to drive, the WeHo Library and Park Public Parking is just 3 blocks down. read more

I usually tend to the DTLA or Pasadena location but I was in the area and thought to give the Melrose location a try. There were plenty of seats open on a Sunday evening despite the location being on the busier side. I opted for the seating outdoors. Heaters were also available for outdoor dining. I ordered the Tostada with chicken and the French Toast King. For drinks, I got the Spanish Latte. The Tostada was good - I enjoyed the guac and beans the most. However, the chicken was a bit tough. The serving size was big enough for at least 2 people. The French Toast King was delicious! I especially liked the brioche bread. This dish was also enough for at least 2 people. My go to drink at Urth is always the Spanish Latte. Iced or hot, this drink is creamy and rich! All in all, I had a great time at Urth and will continue to look forward to my future visits. read more
