When I visit Orange circle I do stop here after Starbucks to enjoy music/scenery when out with friends. I usually have pastry but I have eaten here (turkey sandwich). All there food is good! Not worth the insane amount of hype, in my opinion. Not bad, but not even the best place to grab breakfast in the Circle. I ordered the Mexican omelet which didn't blow me away. It was fine, but again, for all the hype this place haves it did not live up to my expectations. It was just your average omelet but a little smaller. The absolute saving grace was the divine spice Chai latte, which is easily the best coffee/tea drink I've had in... Maybe ever? Seriously, it's that good. Urth caffe is a solid place to go anytime. Their coffee and food won't let you down. There's plenty of seating indoors and out, and they have great service. This place works like a Panera bread, you order and then you sit down with a number. When its busy it's probably a good idea to have someone in your party grab a table while you wait in line to order. But the week day mornings aren't that busy so it's a good time to stop by. The food is pretty good. And the portions are reasonable. (Well unless you eat like a giant) I really like their pizza, but I haven't encountered anything I've disliked. The same goes for the coffee. While I really like the rising sun matcha latte, the new Rumi latte is really delicious too. Definitely try both or one of them if you're up to something new. And even if you're not here to eat something big, they have a display case with a lot of baked goods to pair with your drink, or just to take home! There's tons of seating both in and out and a really pretty table that has a fireplace in the middle with bar chairs that's fun to sit at. Because of the outdoor seating you can eat food with your pup pup which is always a plus. The staff is pleasant and they're pretty on top of cleaning in my opinion. There's always someone checking tables and guests for anything they need. I love Urth Caffe. Been going to Urth Caffe since early 2000s... So as the Urth Caffe lover, my review maybe biased. I love this new location in the Old town Orange circle. They are well known for the organic heirloom coffees, great teas along with the fresh farm to table concept menu for the food (the pastries & desserts are great too). Urth Caffe has been providing quality food, beverages, & service for more 2 decades and they are growing massively. Now Urth Caffe has expanded their locations all over southern California (latest one will be in Torrance soon) & Vegas (Wynn) and even in Japan! Without the consistency with their products and service they couldn't have lasted this long. I love their coffees and teas. The must try would be their Spanish Latte. But I love their organic teas~ Food has been always good. I usually get the egg dishes for the breakfast and my favorite is eggs salmone! Brunch plates are also awesome. I like the avocado toast and individual quiches. For the afternoon - I usually order cheese plate and fruit plates. Their soups - mushroom soup!!! Is the bomb~ very flavorful & tasty! I also love their tomato bisque!! Don't forget their decadent desserts. Their cheesecakes, variety of cakes and pastries. My favorite is their fruit tart. I mean their massive list of menu items will surely satisfy anyone~ Service was always welcoming and prompt. Friendly and accommodating servers. The chocolate shake was very rich and thick, not for the faint of heart. Curry chicken salad was next. The salad was a bit oily, but a good bed for the chicken chunks to rest on. The curried chicken was tangy, sweet, and salty all at once. Highly recommend. Finally, the dessert: we got a berry and cream cake which was just as delicious as it looked. The bread was light and airy. The tangy berries kept the cake from being too sweet. If you're ok with waiting in line for up to 30 minutes, you'll surely be rewarded. read more

It was moderately busy when I came in, but the girl with an iPad was helping to streamline the ordering process! I ordered my drink togo, but had a chance to look inside at all the beautiful decor. Since i paid with card, she also offered to close me out at a different computer, so I can appreciate the efficiency of the staff here! I ordered the Spanish Latte Granita (ice blended), strong and holy jeebus it was probably the strongest ice blended coffee drink I've ever had! Soooo so smooth and good though. Highly recommend not coming here if you're on a time crunch, since finding parking may take a minute (it's all street parking). Urth cafe menu never disappoints. I really love this place. That said, I am sometimes disappointed with the staff, I know everyone is working hard, but there have been times I am in long line with a bunch of people and only one cashier is taking orders. Everyone gets busy I get that, but with the other Urth locations in LA everyone works seamlessly and are very professional. I don't know, maybe this is a coaching thing in Orange, how to communicate with each other. Oh and before I forget this Urth cafe has one of the most impressive interior designs that I have ever seen in a restaurant, the walls, shelves are solid walnut, solid oak finishes, iron work, and I think they used a precious gem stone for the table tops next to the windows. Having attended design school I know these things everything is custom designed, meaning a designer built everything. I think the finishes alone are in the million+ range. read more

It's nicely appointed with plenty of seats in a open floor plan. There are usually plenty of delicious desserts to choose from, even when it is packed. Can't go wrong with Urth, I'm happy to have one so close, now I don't have to travel far for my Spanish Lattes. I've frequent the other locations in LA, and this particular location doesn't stand up to them, and as far was service goes, which is lacking and needs work. I've come to expect a lot from Urth and this Orange location probably has the worst service, the employees are not as friendly and not as efficient and look disconnected. Also it seems they don't have have enough staff? It seems as if the other locations have staff hustling! There is usually a greeter at the door, to help move the line along or answer any questions, hand out menus, but nothing here. And where's the To-Go line set up?? Normally like my lattes to go, and I'm not sure why they don't follow the same structure as the others but there's usually a separate line for to-go/pickup phone orders, keeps things efficient but I guess not here, I asked one of the staff, they told me no such line, and then I asked someone else and they took my order right there in line. What's with the inconsistency? I haven't dined here so I can't speak on the food quality. The pastries and desserts look divine though! Overall, prime location, parking can be tough but you may be lucky to get a spot nearby. Beautiful interior and plentiful space inside. Great addition to the area but just wish that they held up to the other locations. Get the Spanish latte if anything. Tons of room for improvement! read more

This place is super populated on the weekends in the morning, this is THE brunch spot you've been searching for, no seriously, I'm not trying to force mind trick ya. While you wait your eyes get to bask in the glory of the baked goods section, while your mouth begins to salivate for that epic cup of coffee art. I know my dentist said to cool it off the coffee, but when I'm here it's like YOLO dude, YOLO. The eggs here are fluffy and delectable, the stuffed french toast is super filling and oh-so-divine. This place is worth the walk, and it helps burn off all those basked goods I try. I always buy more than I can eat, but somehow manage to eat it all because it is just so damn good. The baked pastries here are just so scrump-diddly-umpcious. You won't regret those, the apricot danish packs a punch, in a most divine and epic way. Listen. I'm a snob. I'm happy to complain about service or cleanliness or any other manner of low-hanging fruit. As a Chapman employee, I've been to Urth Caffé a good many of times since it's opening. I've experienced the slow waits, the jumbled orders, and various other hiccups through and through. Management still has some ways to go on training and delivery. Fine. But you'll have to have them all pulled out after the Eggs Salmone. I'm sorry but this dish is European breakfast perfection. It's everything I love on a perfect piece of crunchy-edged, soft-centered grainy, oaty bread. The lox is superb; the marbling is gorgeous. Tender, fatty, and clearly a finer cut than what you can get at the Bagel Me! around the corner. Avocado slices were meaty and creamy, the cheese tangy and light. And the tomato salad is citrus-heavy and refreshing. It's $12. A hardly decent lox bagel in most take-out spots will run you $9-10. Where can you go in Orange County that will ask you if you want your egg soft poached or medium poached? At a takeout counter? I'll wait. read more

Updated Review (6/15/19) One word to describe this Urth location - inconsistent. My mom and I wanted a light dinner so we stopped by around 7 PM on a Saturday night. We were happy to see there was no wait and ordered the half size chicken pesto salad and a bowl of chili for around $18. First note, they used to have a great combo where you could get a 1/2 size of a sandwich or salad and soup for $12 (I believe)- really sad to see this go since it was such a great deal! My mom and I sat down and waited...and waited....and waited some more for our food to arrive! At this point, I'm getting a bit antsy/hangry - we have all been there. So I ask one of the employees if they can check on our order since we have been waiting some time. A couple of minutes go by and he says that it's ready, he just has to grab it. I asked him why it took so long and he said they just had to make the pesto and the soup was ready? Okay, it's a side of pesto paste to the salad, I'm confused why this isn't already prepped. I see our food coming around the corner and it's just the salad, no soup. He tells me they're out of the chili and lists the other options. I told him no thanks can we please just be refunded for the chili and he proceeds to grab the manager. I check our food and our chicken is cold. I truly do not understand why it would take them almost 30 minutes to whip up a half portion of a salad and for our grilled chicken to be cold. The manager, Jacob came over and refunded us our full meal which was a pleasant surprise and nice gesture! I told him my concerns and he was very polite about it and offered to grab us any desserts after our meal. My mom and I were pretty much over it at this point, quickly finished our salad, and skedaddled. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience! I have been eating at different Urth locations for the past few years and this is just not up to par with the standard of service and quality of food I've experienced at other locations. I just went to this location, I arrived at 12:40pm. For whatever reason, it takes the intellectually slow staff 5 mins per person to take their order. I get up to the front of the line to place my order at 1:05pm, to which I'm told, "we just stopped serving breakfast at 1." The guy did not care in the slightest. I was in line longer than you've been done serving breakfast. To my knowledge, breakfast here had always been served all day. THE largest urth i've ever step foot in, and the most beautiful at that. line situation needs to be improved because they have both to-go and dine in order line as one... other urth have always had a separate to-go order to minimize the wait. the line? slow. it seems like the register isn't always fully manned, and the cashier should really just focus on ordering and payment, but instead they're also busy with grabbing pastries out of the display and any readily available drinks. seems like the process needs to be improved. and to-go drink can take a while. but service has always been great, food is of equal quality to other urth's. a great addition to old town orange, and so glad urth is adding more locations in oc! read more

I was super excited that Urth Caffé opened a location closer to me in the OC. Went on a Saturday afternoon after lunch but parking was pretty hard to find. Eventually found a spot in one of the several free public parking lots with 3 hour parking. The cafe itself is VERY big and spacious which was a pleasant surprise knowing how small the LA one is. Had no problem finding seating. We ordered the Grilled Cilantro Chicken with Pesto - this comes with a side salad. This seemed like a popular dish but I felt like the chicken was too dry and flavor a bit bland. Chicken Curry Salad - I really enjoyed this dish. The curry flavor was not too strong and was slightly sweet. Was flavorful but felt healthy at the same time! Panini El Diablo - this panini was pretty cheesy but the jalapeños added a slight kick which I liked. This also came with a side salad. Earl Grey Tiramisu - THIS WAS SO GOOD. It's not super sweet and is creamy/light. Nutella Girella Buns - kind of like a Nutella croissant topped off with some hazelnuts. Pretty sweet The food was honestly just average and a bit pricey. I would've given 3 stars but the service was just so bad. Not only did it take forever for our food to come out but when we asked one of the servers about a drink we ordered, they just said that comes from the bar and walked away. Well duh? We were asking for help, the least you could do is direct us to someone else or find out where it is. My friend's latte came out after all her food. The panini el Diablo came out cold as if it had just been sitting out. My other friend got a watermelon juice but it never came out and shad finished her meal. As a restaurant worker, I came here after reading the bad reviews giving the servers the benefit of the doubt because this location is relatively new. Even then, I was thoroughly disappointed with the service we received today. Our orders were completely mixed up. At first they served us food that we didn't order and it took a while for them to find out what happened and give the correct dishes to us. They quickly dumped the incorrect orders on our table and left without giving us a chance to flag them back down. They also put in the wrong order for my friend who ordered a green juice and gave her the veggie juice instead. When the veggie juice came the pulp and juice were separated, indicating that it had been sitting out for a while. They also forgot to give us the salad dressing on the side and my friend had to get up to ask them because no servers were coming around. Even through all of this, I was willing to let everything go because of the newer staff and overall business of the restaurant. It wasn't until my friend (very politely) asked for a to-go container for her sauce and the sever rolled her eyes and gave her a dirty container that we all became extremely upset. We were all very understanding to the servers and their busy jobs, but the server's attitude pushed us over the edge. The food we got (which to be honest was not great) was not worth the disrespect we got from some of the staff. i got a chocolate chip pecan cookie and a double shot espresso macchiato. both items were fantastic. my only gripe was the wait, which was about 20 minutes for just the drink. i've lived in the city of orange since before this place opened and have never actually sat down inside. the environment is very pleasant. it's warm, inviting, and the decor is beautiful; lots of space as well. in addition to the long wait, it was certainly not cheap by any means. this isn't an issue for me, but i can see how it would be a problem for others. after all, you're paying a premium given that it's an upscale cafe and it's right in the center of the orange circle. will definitely be coming back again, but in hopes of a shorter wait read more

So, don't look at the prices. It'll make your heart stop, but! The food is actually very very delicious. Everything is organic & farm-to-table style, so you're paying for clean ingredients. The location is great for the business, it sits right in the heart of Orange Circle, ironically, next to a Starbucks. Parking can be tricky if you stop by at peak hours, but I've managed to find parking in the designated public parking area the next block over. I enjoy the 3-5 minute walk. The inside is beautiful!! Like, can I move in? What ever creative genius put it together, bravo! I absolutely love it. It's serene & inspiring wherever you sit--every wall is picture-worthy. Water fountains & beautiful tiles decorate the space. I just love the ambiance. Along with a beautiful interior design, the food is also beautiful (& delicious--which isn't always the case!) The hot green tea matcha latte (a very popular item here) looks just like all the instagram pictures you see. Green with a pretty artsy design floating on top, but when you take a sip--the sweetness hits your lips & it's subtle & smooth & creamy. Not overwhelmingly sweet where it feels like a wave of diabetes hit you in the face. It's perfection. (& I've had it on several different occasions--they get it every time folks.) Another favorite, the breakfast sandwich. It comes with a scrambled egg (that has tomatoes & chile's in it, very flavorful), avocado, mixed greens, mayo on ciabatta bread & a side salad. It's soooo good. The salad is lightly dressed & evens out the sandwich perfectly. The sandwich is big enough to share so you can have room for dessert! They're also NOT stingy with the avocado, which I appreciate for the price I'm paying (I have to justify the price somehow people!) & if I'm really hungry, I'll also get a cup/bowl of the butternut squash soup. Yummmmm! It has a light sweetness, but it's buttery & thick in texture. Ugh, it's rich & it just soothes your soul. So good & flavorful & simple. Plus it's butternut squash, so it too justifies the dessert you have to order. Honestly, I haven't had enough room to squeeze in dessert & I haven't yet justified the $7 price for a slice of vegan chocolate cake. I don't think I could bare paying $7 for a cake that has no butter or happiness in it. It's vegan, no offense. I've tried vegan chocolate pudding, therefore, the cake I'm a bit hesitant on. I appreciate the staff for trying to move the line & crowds quickly, they're always cleaning tables to accommodate as many guests as possible. They take your orders with tablets to create efficiency. & still manage to maintain quality, so thank you! If you come at a peak time, it can take a bit for the food to come out. Green tea latte - light, refreshing, and delicious! It has the perfect amount of sweetness and tea! My only issue was that the workers put an excessive amount of ice (more than half of the cup) so I would recommend asking for light ice because the ice that they normally give causes the drink to become watered down. read more

Since their grand opening 2 months ago, Urth has been packed. In my opinion, it's exactly the type of place central OC has been missing and needed for miles around. You can go if you're in the mood for just great dessert, just coffee, something healthy, something filling, by yourself, with friends, morning, day or night. Yes, it's taking some time to work out the kinks. Ugh, that line to order that snaked out the door into the cold has not been fun. And then cashiers have still been getting up to speed. The ordering process is what took the longest as the cash registers are jammed close together, the menu is quite large, and cashiers were struggling. Kudos to the management for already making changes to the ordering process. The last time we went, there was an additional cashier taking orders on a tablet while you wait in line, which did save some time. Your order delivery to your table has been rather sporadic. You carry your own dessert to your table but then might be waiting 15 min or more for your coffee or food order to be delivered. We've enjoyed every dessert and creative hot drink we've tried so far here and there are tons more items to explore. That Coconut Custard Pie might be one of the plainest looking desserts in the display case, but it is AMAZING! Yes, there's still room for improvement with order placing and order delivery, but this is still currently our favorite place when we're not in a rush. read more
