This USPS office is better than most I've been to. And I'll admit, they're really trying to make it better in there. I've noticed in the last couple of months they've removed their bullet-proof glass to help with better interactions with their customers, which is good. Another thing is that they've now assigned a staff member to guide the line by helping with simple package pickups or buying stamps with cash. This guide isn't full service. But it's nice that they're there to help speed up the line process for the simple tasks. It is the post office, and no post office deserves 5-stars. Who ever knocks them for being too busy needs to get their head checked. It happens. This office is in North Hollywood (a very busy area with a lot of people). Yes, it's busy. But they're making good efforts lately. "Busy" isn't something to knock an organization for, unless they don't know how to deal with busy. It seems like they're getting the feel for it though. So this place annoys the bejesus outta me. Why do I have to pay for parking? I mean seriously I'm going to the post office. Be happy I'm even here in a blue moon anyway. I've gotten a ticket once because I just had to run in and drop something off, but of course there was a line. I can't complain about the staff. They've always been pretty friendly to me and if you're looking for a job I just saw a sign saying they're hiring. They've tried organizing the line since yes, there are two entrances. Gave me a number to call the supervisor and I've called 15 times with no answer. horrible customer service everyone I talked to was either rude or dismissive. STOLEN MAIL??? Like a dummie I used the drive through post boxes outside in parking lot. This was Feb 12. Today is March 4 and neither piece of mail has been received by the addressee. I went to this post office specifically to inquire whether anyone had reported possibly stolen mail. The clerk was of no use, no interest, kept saying either "no" or "don't know". So I asked to see the supervisor. He was nice but just as unknowledgeable as to any potential losses/theft of mail from the outdoor boxes - said if there are security cameras he cannot access them, that's the job of the U.S. Postal Inspector, and (at least) he gave me the phone number. If you're going to mail from here, park, walk inside and put the mail through the indoor slot yourself - you're at risk using the drivethrough boxes. read more

I've lived in North Hollywood, in the same house for 52 years. Which means I've had to deal with the Chandler Post Office for just as long. Years ago we had a regular Mailman who delivered mail for years and was known by everyone. The post office at that time was much smaller and much friendlier and did a pretty good job. However, over time that has all changed. The people today who deliver the mail, many of them can't read English. Consequently, I constantly get other people's mail and others get mine as well. Packages are sometimes delivered to my door, but are also thrown at the end of the porch by the steps where they can be seen from the sidewalk. I just recently had one stolen that was delivered at 7:30pm. When I discovered the next morning online, that it had been delivered, I went to the front porch and it wasn't there. I get notices online that packages are delivered, and they are not. I've also had merchandise stolen by post office employees after they arrive at the post office. It takes forever to get them on the phone. They just don't answer. I've also had a running battle with postal deliverers who insist on stuffing junk mail down the mail slot into my wall. I've made a sign and I duct tape it over the mail slot when they do this. It remains there until they stop. The frustration of dealing with this post office is endless. How I wish someone would take over the management who knows what they're doing and hire staff that will do a good job. read more

Wow... SHAME ON YOU AS HUMAN BEINGS! I've never been so angered at my mistreatment and discriminated for my disability. I went in to pick up a package that was being held, no biggie right? Well they brought the box out and slapped all over it were "heavy, lift with care" stickers. As soon as I saw those, that was my cue to ask for help because I have a physical disability and am unable to lift anything heavy. I didn't even think twice about asking for help because I frequently need assistance at various establishments and have never been denied, until today! I was appalled...This is how the conversation went:.... Me: "may I have some help to the car? The box is too heavy for me to lift." Post woman: "No, you have to carry it yourself." Me: "I would if I could, but I have a physical disability and can't. Can I get some help please?" Post woman: "Then you should have brought someone with you." Um....WTF Seriously??!?! Me: "Seriously? Would you ask one of the men if they can help me please?" Post woman: (points at man)"You go ask him." Me: "Excuse me sir, may I have some help? I have a box that I came to pick up, but it's a heavy box and I need help to the car. I'm unable to life it due to a disability." Postman: "Where's the box? (I point over to the side door where it was left) Drive to the dock in the back than." So I drive out to the dock, mildly humiliated because I was practically begging for help in front of everyone in line. I pulled into the back loading dock and the box is sitting on the ledge. I pull up, get out, and again ask the postman for some help getting it into the car. Postman: "It's right there." Me: "Sir, would you please help me get it in the car? I'm asking you politely, if I could lift it, I would." Postman: (frustratingly throws a bag down and reluctantly helps) "It's not even that heavy." He finally gets it into the back seat and storms off. When I attempted to push it in the backseat, I couldn't even MOVE the damn box! Not even that heavy, my ass! Are you fucking serious people?? You ACTUALLY refused assistance to a handicapped person...awesome. Your mothers would be so proud of you. read more

Slow slow slow. They maintain the long line for job security. If they were fast and efficient like any other place that provides customer service, then half of them would be out of a job. Had the best experience at a post office in my life, here at this particular location. Art (which is the new manager) came out to help anyone in line to help it to move faster. I had several questions as I was shipping what ended up being a large sized item for ebay. Having never shipped such a large item or never having used the electronic shipping machine I was very thankful to have had Art's assistance. He helped and guided me through the entire process. He also gave me tips of how I should proceed in the future when shipping. He easily went above and beyond my expectations. I had a truly wonderful experience and will definitely be back!! read more

Hey, a post office is a post office. Not one post office I go to is actually fast or great, but my last visit here was actually very pleasing. You know those rare occasions where you have to pick up a missed envelope or box, and you go stand in line trying to show off your paper of pickup to the employees hoping they would call you to the front of the line to not make you wait? That happened to me! So all and all, I saved about 15-20 minutes of waiting in line because of one employee who just got my missed delivery paper and helped me out ASAP. read more

This place is the reason why the government should privatize the postal service. Horrible! Despite its cavernous size, there is nothing you can do that is self-service. The two stamp machines are out of commission. I mean, isn't that what you do? Sell stamps? You have to wait in line for everything. Yesterday, one guy had to wait 20 minutes to buy a single stamp. When he asked why, he was given a non-answer. One woman had a little baby and just wanted to find out how she can weigh her envelope. The postal employee rudely pointed to the line and said "See that? That's the line." Why do they do this? My theory is, because the parking lot is all metered parking, they have a pact with the city to try to stall people as long as possible so the meter runs out and the city can then ticket the cars. Whenever I need to mail things, I always feel like they are overselling me the services. I'm so exasperated, having waited so long. So I usually just say, "I want to send this on the slow boat to China." Otherwise, I feel like they charge me for premium services I don't need as my only option. I'm only addling a star because I have to. I know the running joke and comments about government workers such as the post office. I fully understand that their job cannot be easy. So while I do not expect a bubbly excited employee to thank me kindly for waiting 40 minutes to put something in the mail, I do expect common courtesy. There is a woman who should not be employed in service of any kind. I have never experienced someone so rude, obtuse, or unhelpful when it's actually they job to be. She stopped me before I could even make it to the counter with an "oh no! That needs to be tapped up before you even get up here!" Despite the facility having no tape available for purchase on the floor and it was all behind the counter. She then said how do you even plan on shipping this?! Ummm aren't you supposed to tell me what my options are? After exposing that I do not have the time or patience to deal with her approach and I just wanted to purchase the box and ship from else where, she proceeded to open a bottle of lotion and smack the remaining droplets on her hands and rub them together staring at me instead of ringing me up for the box. I was waiting for a camera crew to pop out because no way was this real. If someone hates their job that much they should truly find a new one. read more

And the reason I asked was that I wanted to know for sure what we're my options on how to qualify for a PO Box. When I confronted Marlon about why he didn't he share the information about getting a certified letter from my renter, his response was, "well you didn't ask me that". Morlon I believe it's spell that way gives me half of the information on getting a P.O. BoX. Waist of time! Yes I will report this one on US POSTAL COMPLAINTs!!! The workers at this branch are, on the whole, incompetent at working the scales. That, or they're deliberately overcharging me. The number of times that I have been charged parcel rates when it should have been envelope is probably more than the number of times I have been charged envelope rates when I should have charged envelope. If you have your own scale and the right stamps, I would recommending doing the postage yourself. I have some sick obsession with the post office, like every time I go there I'm six, and I'm being allowed to mail a letter myself for the first time (oh boy!). Any sane person at this point would probably be looking into UPS rates. read more

I would be giving this place 0 stars if I could. I live in the neighborhood so this is the closest post office location to me, but I will never come here again, I've had enough. Today I went in to send some packages. I picked up a box, wrote what I needed to write on it, put my item in and walked up to the cashier. She told me that I needed to buy tape if I wante to close the box. I told her that you can't sell a box for 3$ and then tell people that if they want to close the box, they need to pay another 3.50$ for tape. I walked home with the box, taped it shut and then walked back. It was mind blowing that a post office would do something like this. When I returned I was helped by another woman who was equally stupid and rude. She told me it would be 14.75 to ship the box (after already paying 3$ for the box) and I asked her if that was the cheapest shipping alternative. It was an extremely light box so it made no sense. I could not hate this location any more than I do, will never come back and would love to see it go up in flames. read more
