So disappointing - I've been coming here since they opened. The last few times were meh... but I gave them the benefit of being just an "off" day. I was literally dreaming of their 'Calif" style food today. At 3 I stopped in and ordered the 2 beef crispy tacos , rice & beams. The rice was cold (not that big of a deal) but when I picked up the first taco, the entire shell crumbled, and the meat was like beef jerky, dried out. The second taco did the exact same thing broke immediately (actually, I think it was broken and didn't put in the container). I took it to the counter and showed the young lady working, and they made it over again. I was the only person in the place, so not busy... I excitedly took my remade meal to the table and the exact same thing happened. The beef was almost completely dried out and very stringy and the shells completely crumbled. I just asked for my money back. They really need management in there because the gal although nice definitely needs more training. She gave me back my money minus the tax I paid and didn't quite understand why there was a discrepancy. This makes me very very sad. I hope it's just another off day but based on the last few times I'm not sure they really need to get back on their game. By the way, almost $13 for fast food tacos you better make sure they're pretty darn good (at one time they were). I've recommended this place countless times when people have begged for a taste of "California" Mexican food. Sadly, I can no longer recommend it nor will I be back anytime soon. read more

Our family tried the drive thru option today since our baby was sleeping. Upon inspecting our food when we returned home, we realized that the lady working the window did not get our order correct. I drove back to the location to get the correct meal that I ordered but instead the employee was very rude when she rolled her eyes at me. This business lost a family of four today. Went for a late night torta fix, and this place did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and quick, and the portion size was great for the price. Make sure you go and give yourself time before they close. They are hard workers and have a hard close time rule that they have to follow. First time here and the burrito I had wasn't bad or good, it was ok. I got the California burrito but it had too much fries and the flavor wasn't all there, def lacked seasoning. I may give them another try. The service was fast and friendly. It's also a pretty big place for a fast food Mexican joint. I would try it again. read more

Very long wait in the drive thru. Then when we got home my mom said it may be one of the worst tacos she's had. She and my daughter got food poisoning that evening and both got sick/upset stomachs. My dad and I got different food from somewhere else and were fine. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Everyones food was fantastic when we ate there last week. The problem is the cleanliness of the restaurant. I definitely do want to come back but... Three was no soap in the dipenser in the bathroom. The hand sanitizer outside of the bathroom had no gel in it. I just had to use water to wash my hands. There was a small cart outside of the bathroom where you can scoop up pickled jalapeños, salsas, etc. It did not look like anyone attends to it. My potato hard shell taco was really good. I want to come back but the tables didn't look clean. I hope they address this because we really need a great taco place. read more

I do not recommend coming to this restaurant, it is very bad. The cashier has a very arrogant attitude and one day I had to come, I was ordering my food on a Tuesday and one of the people who was in the kitchen was with the other cook, the cook and they were touching each other and the two of them were not able to wash their hands. Moved to Texas from CA in 2021. I love TX. This state is amazing. The only thing I miss from CA are the Burritos. I couldn't find a solid burrito. Fajitas and tacos everywhere but no Burritos. I was recommended Valerie's by a fellow CA refugee and I have to say its great. If you're from So Cal and looking for a burrito, this is the best I've been able to find. Good meat, guac, salsa, sour cream, and French fries (or not). The burrito is the size of your head, filled with everything you could want and there is a salsa bar with good range of spicy to mild salsa. If you're looking for an authentic burrito, this is the place. If you're from Nor cal, ask them to add rice and beans and you're set! Also Valerie's mother works there! Been here probably 20-30 times since it opened. Grew up in SD and Southern California Mexican food was a staple. The food at this Valerie's would be considered average, if not slightly below in San Diego. The California burrito is lacking in size, the meat is decently flavored, but my biggest complaint is the lack of consistency in food quality. Sometimes it's really great socal style Mexican food, other times it's pretty bad and/or unbelievably small portions. Recently, the amount of carne asada in my California burrito was such a small amount, it was pretty much just fries wrapped in a tortilla. Disappointing to say the least, especially at their prices. The hours are also very strange, closed at 10PM? Closed Sunday? This place would be out of business in SoCal in a matter of weeks. The wait time in the drive Thu can also be terrible here. Like 30-40 mins terrible. While there is a lot of room for improvement, this is the ONLY place to get socal style Mexican in the area. If any good competition popped up, they'd be forced to improve the quality and consistency of their food, hours and service. read more
