I have gone to Valley Goat three separate times now. I have gone for dinner twice and once for lunch. Each time I had a reservation and was seated upon arrival. Valley Goat is a bright and airy restaurant. It has greenery throughout the restaurant. The restaurant opens up to their patio and lets the fresh air in. It is inside the new Treehouse Hotel campus. Plenty of parking is available. Food: I have tried a lot of items from here now I've been here three times. Please note that the lunch menu has some items only found during lunch! They also have a vegan menu for both lunch and dinner. For lunch, I had the tofu bowl. The tofu bowl was exciting and full of flavor. Everything was seasoned great on their own and tasted great together. Every bite was different. For dinner, I tried the following: Veggie Empanadas - These are probably my favorite on the menu. The pastry is flakey. The filling is delicious. I could drink the sauce it comes with. Fries - These were standard. Seasoning was okay. Pita and Dips - These pita is absolutely delicious. The carrot hummus is my favorite dip. Avocado Dip - The plantain chips were delicious. I loved the avocado dip. It's not a guacamole, but it is very good. The biscuits - These biscuits were flakey and rich. The sesame butter was good. The pickle relish was also good, but I'm not sure how I feel about it on my biscuit. Chickpea Fritters - There were very good. The fritters were light, and the sauce was addictive. Grilled Corn - This had a ton of flavor. I would have loved if it was easier to eat. It got a little messy with it being on the cob. Would order again though. Wood-Fired Eggplant - This was pretty good. I loved that it came with the same sauces as the pita and dips. The flavors worked great with the eggplant. Roasted Maitake - The mushrooms were okay. The brussels it came with was good, but I was not super impressed with the dish. Sticky Toffee Plaintain Cake - This cake was delicious. I enjoyed the goat's milk ice cream. Mango Sticky Rice - This dish was as beautiful as it was delicious. The flavors were amazing, and it was such a different interpretation of what mango sticky rice is. Drinks: Sweet Tart - Great nonalcoholic drink. Hot Spring Spritz - This was a refreshing drink. I enjoyed the pineapple lime flavor. End Of The Valley - The mezcal was strong, but the drink was still refreshing. It was very good. Service: Service each time has been great. The servers are helpful in talking about the menu and giving recommendations. The food is served family style and comes as they are ready. The timing of each plate was never too long. TL;DR - Excellent food and excellent service. This is a great addition to the food scene in Sunnyvale. You cannot go wrong with a Stephanie Izard restaurant. read more

Very cute and beautifully decorated restaurant. Every single dish is aesthetically pleasing and delicious. Tuna salad was my favorite, fresh and flavorful. Goat empanadas were buttery and flaky. The okonomiyaki does not taste like the authentic Japanese style, but still delicious. This time we sat at the bar since it's fully booked and service was a little lacking. Stephanie Izard, you did it again. This dinner at Valley Goat really brought me back to my first time at Girl & The Goat in Chicago 7 years ago. It's like seeing an old friend. The signature pork shank, the various sauces, Asian flavors, tried and true mint & huacatey, textures and flavors all blending seamlessly. Her culinary style shines through in each dish in the best way possible. Ambiance is gorgeous. Very green and earthy with lots of natural light when the sun's up, and not too dim when the sun sets. Valley Goat just celebrated their one-month anniversary a few days ago. They were still working through some common growing pains tonight -- coordinating table turnovers, orders, wait times, etc. -- but they know it and did their best to make us feel accommodated and comfortable as possible. Had some complimentary Ca' Furlan prosecco glasses to start as we were waiting on our table 30 mins after the scheduled time. Bright, fruity, very apple-like. Proceeded to order cocktails. I had the Desert Sunset which I found to be a little flat. Food came out within minutes in quick 5-10 min sprints one right after the other. - Goat empanadas are a must. Just do it. 5/5 - Roasted oysters, served in the style of an open-faced sandwich on a cracker were terrific with a tart & tasty cocktail sauce which cut right through that sausage butter. 5/5 - Chickpea fritters were cubed, served on a bed of crispy sev atop yogurt, chutney, and herbs. Great medley of textures. 4/5 - Wood-fired sprouted cauliflower was smokey and sexy. A fantastic side for heavy meats. Texture was that of crisp broccolini, lightly seasoned to let the wood flavor come out. 5/5 - Sticky Pork Shank, the pièce de résistance. Fall-off-the-bone, slow-braised, with a sticky sweet and crisp skin. A tad salty, but made for great lettuce wraps. Loved the spiced Asian pear and pickled cucumber salad served alongside. Of course you can't get enough of the huacatey sauce. 5/5 After a wonderful meal, the dessert did take a while to come out (30+ mins) and our server Jose generously comped us our Sticky Toffee Plantain Cake and a (currently) off-menu Mango Sticky Rice. - Sticky Toffee Cake was a nice airy take on the British counterpart. Loved the banana goat milk ice cream it came with. 4/5 - Mango Sticky Rice. Admitting recency bias, this may be the best dessert I've ever had so far and I don't even normally like sticky rice. It's so creative and playful. Mango tamarind ice cream mixed in the warm sticky rice, bits of icey watermelon granita, and a fluffy coconut cloud. Foams are making a comeback?! 5/5 no notes. Get two. If it wasn't compelling enough by now, I had a great time at Valley Goat and am delighted to have a restaurant of this caliber in the South Bay. I hope the quality maintains through its tenure and helps inspire other restaurants, eaters, and even home cooks to step up their game. 5/5, I'll come back any day of the week and twice on Sundays. read more

My family and I stayed at Treehouse Hotel for a staycation, and we were excited to try Valley Goat, which is on the hotel property. TL;DR: The wait staff can use some major work. Everything up until the ordering process was great: how dietary preference aware the hostess was, how we were able to get a booth for our sometimes squirmy toddler, the ambience, etc. I walked in thinking that I might be able to take some of my business clients here in the future. During the ordering process, the primary wait staff for our table didn't seem to know what type dish some menu items were and didn't bother to check with the kitchen or other wait staff. We saw "cucumber sesame noodles" on the kids menu and wanted to see if it was the wheat noodles our toddler prefers. I explicitly asked if it was glass noodles or wheat noodles. He just vaguely confirmed. We also asked which type of noodles the sweet potato chili noodles on the regular menu was. All he said was, "It is very popular." We ordered anyways because the toddler was tired and hungry, and we just needed to order fast. Wouldn't you know it: Both of the noodle dishes were glass noodles, which was not our preference because we don't think those noodles filling. There was also probably a 45-minute gap between the first dish and the last dish. We almost thought the last dish was forgotten and wasn't coming. The toddler enjoyed the mixed berries and fries so much, he requested more berries and ketchup. We asked one of the wait staff who brought one of our dishes over, and she said yes. Neither the berries or the ketchup came. My husband had to take the toddler out for a walk because it was taking at long and the toddler was losing patience. I flagged down a 3rd wait staff and told her we would like to cancel the berries if it wasn't coming already. It took maybe 10 minutes of me sitting alone at the table to get anybody to bring my bill. When I was paying the bill, I shared the feedback with the primary wait staff that our berries never came. He looked surprised and offered to get them now (the toddler is now no longer at the table, and I literally already had the bill in my hand). I guess the wait staff are not communicating with each other. He also kind of just handed me a bill and stared, assuming that I was just there for the restaurant, not as a hotel guest. He never asked. I had to ask for a pen (to put our room number down to charge to the room), and he literally took a second to realize why I was asking, "Oh, you're a hotel guest!" I would think it should be a standard question to ask for a restaurant as part of the hotel offerings. While the food was good, it was not worth the frustration. This experience was surprising given that this restaurant was attached to a 5-star hotel. Needles to say, I will not be dining here again, let alone be bringing people to this restaurant. read more

Valley Goat is a successful expansion of Stephanie Izard's culinary empire into the Bay area. Having been a fan of Stephanie Izard since she won Top Chef many years ago, I have frequented many of her restaurants. From her restaurants in Chicago to Los Angeles, I have been to pretty much all of them. While there have been few missteps, every dining experience has been solid with great food offerings. Valley Goat is located within the Treetop Hotel Silicone Valley which is an uber fancy hotel! Walking around the premises was already beautiful and the restaurant blends in seamlessly with lush foliage throughout the space. We called in around 5:30 and was able to secure a reservation that same night for 7:15PM. We were hungry so we hoped they would seat us early, but we got seated at time. Fortunately, the hostess was sweet and walked us through the menu before getting seated. Here is what we ordered: Wood Fired Sprouted Cauliflower (4/5): The grilled cauliflower get a deep roasted flavor into the cauliflower that pairs nicely with the shio kombu crunch for umami flavor. Topped with mint to give it that added pop of freshness. It was a great accompaniment! Ora King Salmon (4/5): The salmon was cooked super delicately so it was melt in your mouth good. It was paired with plenty of ginger chili sauce to provided a nice mix of freshness and mild heat and the crispy brussel leaves gave little bits of texture to the dish. My only gripe was that there was so much sauce and the salmon relatively small so it felt like a carbohydrate to finish it all up would have been nice. Stick pork shank (5/5): Easily the star of the night! Meant to eat like lettuce wraps, the pork easily fell off the bone and was smoking hot! It definitely was sticky with a slightly sweet sauce that made you want to lick your fingers! The sauces were nice to eat with, but really enjoyed the pear relish, which provided a hint of sweetness with a little heat and acid to counterbalance the heaviness of the pork. Sticky toffee plantain cake (4/5): Because I have enjoyed the mango stick rice at her other restaurants, I decided to give the stick toffee plaintain cake a try and it was definitely more homey. The cake was warm with a slight hint of plaintain and the goat ice cream was smooth with a little saltiness and banana flavor. The stick toffee pieces provided a bit of crunch for texture. Overall, a solid end to the night. In terms of service, it started off super strong and food came out fast, but at the end, there were long gaps and took awhile for us to get dessert. However, the restaurant is still new so probably still trying to get their footing in terms of service. Impressed by the vibe, delighted by the food, and just simply floored by the amazing service! Goat empanadas had buttery soft crust, the balance of acidic and crema sauce on the disco fries, super yum!! We cleared all the plates. As for the service, one of the servers passing by us saw we were taking selfies, offered to take a group pic then proceeded to impeccably direct the lights as the place was dimly lit and she understood the assignment by moving the table lighting to get that *chefs kiss* lighting. Didnt catch her name, but thank you. Last but not least, our server Luis, was quite literally GOAT. Provided curated recommendations of the menu based on our dietary restriction, checked in on us regularly, and just proceeded to be amazing til the end of the dinner. Treated my family out for an incredible dinner at Valley Goat! The area is quite pretty and gives new development vibes. The restaurant is quite large and has a nice clean modern feel inside. A perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion or for a date night! The service was excellent and prompt. We ordered family style, which is what the restaurant recommends, which worked out since we were able to sample a lot of the menu. For food we ordered the disco fries, which surprisingly was one of our favorites of the night. There was a lot of flavor packed in these fries and is a nice carb to enjoy with the rest of the meal. The chicken skewers were juicy, but the portion felt small, especially compared to some of the other dishes. The wood fired cauliflower was amazing, and you could taste how fresh and flavorful it was. Loved the sauce that it came with. The skuna bay salmon was also another highlight, and the brussel sprouts that accompanied it was incredible! The chickpea fritters were a unique dish. We also got the sticky pork shank, which was a heavier dish, and the sauces that it came with perfectly complimented the pork. Another fan favorite was the wood fired branzino, which was perfect. Loved that it came with the head, which was my mom's favorite part of the fish! Wish this dish came with some more veggies tho. We finished the meal with sticky toffee pumpkin spice cake (which was a bit too sweet for my liking) and the mango sticky rice, which was absolutely incredible and not too sweet! read more

Came by for dinner the other day and it was a phenonemal experience. Valley Goat is from the same owners as The Girl and the Goat in Los Angeles Arts District. I had high hopes as I loved my meal there. Made a reservation a couple weeks in advance and my table was ready at the scheduled time. Parking was available in the surface lot shared with Google Cloud. There appeared to be a valet option. The restaurant is located in the now Treehouse Hotel, formerly known as Sheraton Sunnyvale. The property has been fully remodeled from top to bottom and it was meticulous. Front of the staff wore uniforms and bar tenders greeted anything that moved. Some front of the staff opted to wear black disposable gloves. Our server was helpful and even had some sort of Customer Success Manager check in on us halfway through the meal. Dining is available both outdoors and indoors. Started off with the goat empanadas and they were decent. Photos from other Yelpers previously featured an even flakier and lighter empanada. The highlight of the meal was the ora king salmon which featured a crispy skin and the middle of the filet cooked to a perfect medium. Excellent and world class. This was served with a dusting of brussel sprouts and some type of aioli. The skirt steak was also another fantastically executed plate featuring the skirt steak that was seared to perfection on the outside, juicy, flavorful, and medium rare to rare on the inside. The side of onions were excellent. The sauteed green beans mixed in with some type of nuts was more pedestrian. The sticky pork shank was gigantic and perfect for sharing. This was served with lettuce wraps along with a side of pickled vegetables. The mango sticky rice was excellent and reminded me of the Singaporean mango pomelo sago. This is the second time I've had a cocktail with fish sauce and it adds a savory base and kick of umami. Don't knock it until you try it. * Hendricks, shaked w/ lemon twist ($18) F O O D * The Biscuits w/ sesame butter, pickle relish (4 pc - $14) Addictively nutty sesame butter and acidic relish to top the crusty biscuit with a fluffy soft interior. It arrived within 2 minutes and barely lukewarm tho. * Goat Empanadas w/ limey huacatay (2 pc - $18) The empandas were deliciously crispy and flaky with a rich, savory ground goat filling. Not too gamey. Served with a creamy, citrusy Peruvian dipping sauce. GET THIS! * Hamachi Poke w/ browned goat butter, fermented tofu, kumquat ($24) Fresh, pristine cuts of yellowtail bathed in rich and tangy goat butter and umami rich fermented tofu sauce. Nice crunch from the puffed rice and tang from the kumquat. Most unique poke prep I've had. If you're debating between the two pokes, GET THIS! * Tuna Poke Salad w/ quinoa, pickled veggies, candied pecans ($24) Premium omakase quality tuna with crispy quinoa but much milder in flavor compared to the hamachi poke. Also, it felt more "salad" with poke garnish to me. * Skirt Steak w/ charred spring onion, wild rice furikake ($36 x2) - Per server, fixed temperature: medium (arrived medium rare) Underneath the pile of herbs are perfectly cooked slices of steak, tender with a good seared crust. Flavorful and lots of fresh textures from the herbs and punch from the pickled jalapenos. It was a small portion so we ordered another round. * Sticky Pork Shank w/pickled cucumber salad, spiced asian pear, hoisin mayo, limey huacatay, lettuce cups ($44) I was most excited for this main but IMO, it needs some fine tuning. Great fresh salad + herbs with nice, crisp sweetness from the asian pear and really solid duo of sauces. While the pork shank was meaty, it could have been cooked longer so the meat is softer. Also, I found it aggressively salty from the hoisin (Chinese sweet + tangy BBQ sauce). * Banana Goat's Milk Ice Cream (Scoop-$6) Drizzled with caramel sauce, the goat's milk ice cream has a thicker, richer consistency akin to gelato with a distinctive sweet tang, balanced by the subtle ripen banana flavor. --- While dining at the beer garden the next day, we ordered the Brunch Potatoes ($9). A generous portion of smashed potatoes, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Topped with salted coconut caramel, cotija cheese, tangy tajín, and punchy pickled jalapeños. S E R V I C E Mostly friendly staff. Hostesses during dinner service were so sweet esp Abby. It's week one so kinks are expected but pacing was really off which affected some of the dishes' temperature. Apps and one entree arrived together in less than 10 minutes, second entree took an hour, and a scoop of ice cream took 15 minutes (arrived partially melted). The next day, I wanted to place an order for pick up and charge it to my room (to use my dining credit). The person I spoke with had a bit of an attitude and told me, no phone orders and I had to order in-person. A M B I A N C E Plant filled entrance leading to the lively bar area and airy dining area with more hanging plants and boho woven basket pendant lights. Pleasant cobblestone outdoor patios but needs more shading esp with hot girl summer coming up. Space can accommodate up to 250 guests. Live music on the weekends in the beer garden. It ended by 5:30 pm, then a hip hop playlist began. Heeeyyy! P A R K I N G Plentiful self-parking and paid valet. Overall, I REALLY enjoyed Valley Goat's bold and creative dishes that showcases top-tier local ingredients. And, I love that they don't shy away from funk and spice. I love the decor at the Valley Goat. This nouveau Asian Fusion place is a hidden treat in an otherwise inconspicuous location just off Mathilda and 237. Come here if you're looking for a fancy meal treat. It was quite busy when we enjoyed lunch on a Thursday noon. I think the techies working at Google and Microsoft made the majority of patrons. But no prob, bask in the sunshine or play a little corn hole out front while you wait! Food: They have 'snacks' which are like appetizers and 'small plates' which are much larger than tapas, but small enough and made for sharing. 5 of us shared 7 dishes with about one dish worth to take home after. My number one were the goat cheese empanadas. Really yum! Perfectly fried and tasty with a lime purée to enhance. I like taro chips but the guac was too much in the lime side. I'd rather taste more creamy avocado than sour. Spiced fish tostadas were awesome but very hard to share. Not out of greed; you try splitting highly topped tostadas! Roasted asparagus: can't go wrong. Nothing spectacular but very yum nonetheless. Disco fries were dancing alright. Both hearty because of the fries and savory cuz of the myriad of pork and toppings. I'll say the salmon fun bowl had a similar overpowering flavor. Another nice dish. Three sauce chicken is like a fancy version of minced chicken in lettuce cups you get at other Chinese restaurants. And the pork belly noodles were basically Korean Chop Chae but with a couple chicks of pork belly on top. Did I say I love pork belly? Very nice meal and they have a full bar too. Service was veeeeery slow, which is prolly correlated to the business factor aforementioned. But 2hrs for lunch is a bit too long IMO. Maybe if it was the weekend.... When you approach the front, it seems upscale but unassuming at the same time When you walk in, there's a modern beauty in the decor with lots of plants for greenness and life, while also having a very chic and clean look. The Tuesday evening was not too busy and we were taken to our seats. I didn't know what to expect, as I didn't look this place up beforehand. The menu was interesting! A bit of a fusion menu. The oyster was unique and creative and pretty good, but I still preer raw oysters. I can appreciate the thought, effort, and execution put into this dish. However the server removed the physical dish after we put the oysters on our plate to eat it. When we finished, we had no where to put the giant oyster shell. My recommendation to the restaurant is to please be attentive about this and leave the plate until the 2 empty shells are put back onto the plate. The avocado dip was delicious but I personally would have preferred toast points or regular chips or crackers over plantains. I would definitely order this again! The cauliflower was super tasty as well with the char on it as well as the pairing with mint leaves. Would definitely get this again too. Finally the branzino was delicious, felt healthy, and had a wonder combination of flavors. They properly warn of bones near the head and tail, but have otherwise deboned the fish. Came here on a Sunday night and got lucky because there were seats at the bar. Definitely recommend making a reservation as it does get pretty crowded. We got the goat empanadas, disco fries, hamachi poke, and sticky pork shank. Goat empanadas came with a tangy and herby green sauce. The goat meat flavor was a bit mild. Pastry was flaky, crispy, buttery and delicious. The disco fries were crispy, loaded with pork meat, and a light and saucy coconut sauce. This was my favorite dish. Hamachi poke was light and refreshing. They used some sort of goat sauce and it was definitely strong, but paired well with the lightness of the hamachi and kumquat. The sticky pork shank took a long time to come out but it was worth the wait. Meat was crispy and fried on the outside and moist on the inside. We ate it with the lettuce wraps, and pickled onion. Beautiful interior! Def a place for a special occasion. Service is great too; they're very attentive and alert with water refills and plate cleanups, without rushing you. Food was okay, it wasn't too overpriced, but I wouldn't go here for a meal, rather the ambience. Goat empanadas (2.5/5): Tastes exactly like a croissant. It was super buttery, which we didn't like because it overpowered the filling. Shrimp salad (3.5/5): The shrimp is really cooked so I couldn't even tell what was shrimp or just mandarin covered in dressing. The dressing and salad were good, umami and pretty bright. Hamachi poke: Personally, not a poke fan, too saucy for me. My parents thought it was okay, but no one really gravitated to it. Chicken skewers (5/5): Would order again, super good. Sound and looks boring, but very juicy and flavorful. Skirt steak (3/5): Average steak, nothing special. Spiced fries (2.5/5): Wouldn't order again. It's just on the cusp of being too salty. Sticky pork shank (2.5/5): Very tender, but honesty, the burnt parts are so salty... I had to take vegetables from other dishes to make it taste better. Valley Goat was recommended to me by one of our neighbors. I can see why they raved about the place, because the food was delicious and as good as my neighbors claimed it to be. I made dinner reservations for 5pm on a Friday. I was a bit confused with the parking situation. There was a self-parking lot, valet, and parking lot not authorized for the Treehouse hotel yet looked like it was attached to a Google building. I ended up using the self-parking lot behind The Treehouse Hotel reception. The restaurant was impressive. Loved the natural, earthy vibes. My friend, who is a big time plant enthusiast, appreciated all of the new, real plants that adorned the restaurant. The vinyl record corner was an interesting spot at Valley Goat. We wondered if that was intended for a DJ or if they have a record player back there. Overall service was a hit or miss for me. There were a couple of employees worth shouting out, such as Jose, our server, who was friendly and helpful. One of the main hosts (I think his name is Cameron) was also very hospitable. That being said, I felt that a couple of hostess didn't give us the warm and fuzzies. For example, when I passed the front desk after dinner and said, "Thank you," I got no courtesy "You're welcome" or any type of acknowledgement. Additionally, the food came out fast at first, but I swear that they forgot our skirt steak order until I reminded Jose that we didn't receive it yet. We also realized that Jose forgot to ask us how we wanted our steak. It came out medium rare, which was fine anyway, but it was a rookie move - just saying. We ordered several items to share including the shrimp salad, goat empanadas, spicy handroll dip, disco fries, skirt steak, and the mango sticky rice. I enjoyed everything I ate. Each dish had such unique flavor palates yet went well all together. The shrimp salad tasted refreshing and reminded me of a Vietnamese shaking beef salad sans the beef. Loved how the goat in the empanadas didn't taste gamey at all. The spicy handroll dip had a wonderful limey zing to it. The disco fries were addictive because of its coconut caramel gravy. The skirt steak was probably the most basic of the dishes we ate, but it was flavorful and cooked well. Lastly, the mango sticky rice was excellent. LOVED IT!! From the moment we stepped out of the car, I knew this was going to be an exceptional experience. Valley Goat is located in the newly opened Tree House Hotel and I'm literally in love. The staff are welcoming from the very first moment you arrive. We had a reservation for 7:30pm on a Friday night but arrived at 6pm to have a cocktail in the bar and people watch a bit. Unfortunately we just missed the live music in the beer garden but we'll absolutely be coming back for that another time. The decor is outstanding with a comfortable modern organic feel. Casual yet very classy. Lots of outdoor areas to hang out at or just inside the large roll up doors is a beautiful bar. This will be the place to hang this summer for sure. We ordered two speciality cocktails and grabbed a seat just outside the bar. Both were not only tasty but also beautiful. The indoor dining is moody and gorgeous. This particular evening was pretty busy but that's to be expected for a Friday night. We opted to have dinner on the patio which was a little quieter and it overlooked the beautifully landscaped garden and grass area. We looked over the menu which I had peeked at earlier that day and decided to get a bunch of dishes and share. This is the general concept here and if you know me, it's my favorite was to dine. Here's what we ordered: THE BISCUITS w/sesame butter, and pickled relish - if you don't order anything else, you MYST order these. OMG these are so buttery and tender and delicious! The sesame butter is really good but that relish was my favorite. Sweet yet savory and quite literally heaven and a bite. VEGGIE EMPANADAS - These reminded me of spanakopita which I love and the dipping sauce was really good too. ORA KING SALMON - This was good. Salmon was a little too under done in the thickest part for my daughter but I enjoyed it and the Brussels were perfectly cooked. WOODFIRED SPROUTED CAULIFLOWER - Someone referred to this dish as "life changing" and I'd have to agree. The flavor was exceptional. STICKY PORK SHANK - this is their signature dish and I see why. The presentation is beautiful and pretty large. Plenty for two or even three to share. STICKY TOFFEE PLANTAIN CAKE - delicious! Not overly sweet and that ice cream is heavenly. Needless to say, we left very full and with plenty of leftovers to take home. I would say this is a fun, family friendly experience but on the pricier side so for me, it'll be a special occasion destination but one that's well worth the price. We had an amazing dinner here! I have been to both Girl and the Goat and Little Goat in Chicago so I had to check out Valley Goat! I made a reservation about a week in advanced. We were promptly seated upon checking in. Our server was wonderful! She was friendly and very helpful. All the food came out within 5-10 min! It was a bit overwhelming that everything came at once and so quickly. But all the food was great! We ordered the perfect amount for two people. The ambience and design is also beautiful. Deep Goat Newly opened restaurant for Iron Chef extraordinaire, multiple James Beard Award winner, and Top Chef winner (season 4) Stephanie Izard. She's long been one of our favorite celebrity chefs, and eating at one of her restaurants has been on our foodie bucket list for quite some time. This restaurant follows along in her "Goat" themed restaurants of two (Chi & LA) Girl & the Goat; Little Goat Diner (Chicago); Duck Duck Goat (Chicago); and Chicago & LA's Cabra**. We were excited to see that she was bringing her menu to The Bay, and even more excited that it was here in The South Bay at the newly opened bougie Treehouse Hotel. The Good: *Great location right off the freeway and near several Google offices. *Huge shared parking lot but if you're here during a weekday and arrive from Mathilda Ave, make sure you hang a right and not a left, as those spots will be filled with Googlers. Unless, ofc, you happen to arrive at a WFH day or weekend, then you should be good in either lot. *Valet service if one desires *Reservations taken thru the hotel website *Local and microbrews on-tap, great sounding bar program, and, of course, plenty of wine on-hand. *Gluten-free and Veg-head friendly menu (not sure about vegan) *Outdoor seating that I'm assuming is dog-friendly, but I'm not sure if they're using it right now while they're in soft opening. *I love that the menu is nice and small. Hopefully they keep it nice and curated and don't go Shitcake Factory on us. Altho, I did see a brick pizza oven outside, which hopefully means some Neopolitan-style pizzas are on the way? :) *Our server, Robin, was terrific. Very friendly, knowledgeable on the menu, and good hustle. Considering that it was only the 2nd day of service, she was 95% there! *Empanadas were crispy and packed full of flavor, which can be difficult to do with a Veggie filling. Also, it should be noted that despite the veg-heavy interior of greens, it didn't sog the outside shell of the Empanada, which stayed nice and flaky and crisp. That green sauce that came with it was also fabulous. *Pork Belly Noodles was a big winner for us, as well. When eaten as a whole, all the flavors worked so well together. We especially loved how juicy the pork stayed despite the crispy exterior. If we had one qualm its that we're both not big fans of glass noodles for various reasons; I'm not a fan of the texture and Carissa thinks the taste is odd. If they threw down some nice garlic noodles with that pork it would smack even harder than it already does. *Ora King Salmon Fun Bowl is a 10/10. Absolutely perfect. Don't. Touch. A thing. Salmon was cooked medium and juicy, the salad itself had so many great textures and flavors from the crispy salmon skin to the earthy quinoa and the sweetness from the strawberries. Yeah it sounds a bit weirdt, but trust me--it smacks. *Sticky Toffee Plantain Cake was also a big hit. Well, for me anyways. The goat milk ice cream and goat milk whipped cream that came with it were *chef's kiss*. Tangy, funky, salty, and sweet all playing a harmonious conga line symphony in my mouth made this one of the best desserts I've had in a long, long time. The Meh: *Fries were terrificly crunchy and spiced beautifully, and don't get me started on the tamarind chutney, but I will say we both got kinda bored with them after a while. I think the same portion size, but maybe bigger fries would solve this. Those shoestring-style fries were just a bit too thin for my liking. *Prices aren't cheap, but I wouldn't say it was absurdly priced, either. I have never been so excited about a restaurant opening as I am about Valley Goat. We have followed Chef Stephanie and watched her on Top Chef and TOC and other cooking shows. We had planned to go to The Girl and the Goat LA a couple of months ago but we cancelled which was very disappointing. So when we found out she was opening a restaurant here in Silicon Valley, I was over the moon. We made reservations for dinner next week but when I found out John was off today, we decided why not go for lunch too? The ambiance at Valley Goat is spectacular. The theming, the décor, not to mention brand-new--it's beautiful. The service was outstanding. They get high marks from me. A couple of small mistakes but seeing this their second day of service? I was impressed. And the food! That's why we're here, right? Everything was cooked to perfection. The salmon and the pork belly were cooked so well. We could eat just those things all day. The noodles in the pork belly dish were a bit off for us. Something about them had a medicinal taste to me. It was fine when I had a bite with everything but just the noodles--I didn't like it. But the pork belly was so good. I wish they used different noodles for that dish. The empanadas were fantastic. John loved the plantain cake but I wasn't a fan. However, I will say that I do not like goat or goat milk and this dish definitely has that gamey goat milk flavor. John loved that--I did not. So if you like goat or goat milk, you will love this dessert. I was so happy with our first experience at Valley Goat and we can't wait to go back next week for dinner. I just had dinner here last night and I'm speechless at how fabulous this dinner was. Finally a place to get good eats in Sunnyvale. Sautéed green beans are a staple izzard's restaurants and it didn't disappoint, saucy and the cashews add a good texture with the crunch. The wood fire eggplant was so tender. My friend loved the carrot hummus. The chicken skewers were good but I wish it came with more sauce. The chicken pea fritters were so light and airy. The avocado dip with the plantain chips are a must! I'm still thinking about the sticky toffee cake... I wanna go back to eat it again. Goat fashion had a hint of banana. I went to Valley Goat for Sunday brunch with friends recently. It was a little hard to find the right place to park and the door to the restaurant, but I saw the valet parking attendants and they pointed me in the right direction. The grounds were very nice and the restaurant has both inside and outside seating. We sat indoors, which felt casual with lots of plants. My friend dubbed it "shabby chic". We were seated almost immediately and the wait staff came by frequently, but we had to remind them of a couple of things. Had to ask a couple of times for water refills. The waiter asked if we wanted the food brought out all at once and we said yes, but then it didn't all come out at once. We told them who was having a birthday and they brought out the dessert with a candle but set it in front of the wrong person. Very friendly and nice, but need more attention to detail. I ordered the shrimp salad, which was excellent. My friend ordered the potato crepe, which was good, but it was too big, too rich, and sat in a bed of grease. I was unfamiliar with the area and leaned on Yelp to find a local restaurant for dinner. I can say with certainty that the app and reviews did not steer me wrong. I called its third-party reservation line and while I was informed there were no more availabilities for the remainder of evening, I was encouraged to stop by in case there were available seating at the bar or last minute changes to reservations. I'm glad I did because they were able to accommodate me with a table. The restaurant was located amongst the Treehouse hotel property that included their picturesque hotel check-in building, a Beer Garden, Commons, swimming pool and more. Upon entering the restaurant, it was dimly lit with eye-catching decor, plants, colors and warmth. It felt very trendy and cozy at the same time. The music consisted of mainstream 90's hip hop or R&B vibes that felt relevant for Silicon Valley culture. I loved it as I grew up listening to 80s and 90s music. I ordered the Hamachi Poke and Tuna with quinoa salad. I paired it with a glass of Petit Chablis wine. Food here were portioned as shareable plates so you may "travel the world" as my waitress explained. Great way to explain tapas style. I finished dinner with the Chocolate Passionfruit Semifreddo dessert. It was delectable! The balance between the brownie and ice cream was perfect. Prior to finishing dessert, I'd already made a mental note to plan my birthday dinner celebration this month. Had high hopes from all the 5 star reviews but it did not live up to the expectations ): Spontaneously decided to go on a Friday night after hearing about this new spot from a celeb chef! Called a bunch of times with no pick up because I was worried about it being reservation only- and finally got a call back saying that bar seating was first come first serve. Lots of parking in the hotel lot, super nice vibes and very cute area!!! Didn't feel like the bay. Arrived around 7:40pm and waited around 15 mins. The space was filled with plants and dim lighting, very cute!! It was pretty busy but the space is big. Tables were way too close together, it was hard to get in and out. Service was kind of slow, but nice waiter! Food took 40 minutes to come out... I guess it was their 2nd weekend so they were overwhelmed (I was sitting facing towards the kitchen so I saw the chaos LOL). Biscuits- 4 tiny pieces smaller than then length of my finger, the sesame butter and pickled peppers were a nice touch but definitely not worth $14 Hamachi Poke- big mistake, trusted another review saying that it was good but I did not like the goat milk and olive oil drizzle paired with the hamachi. Didn't feel like the quality of fish was good either and plate so SO TINY Goat Empanada- pretty good but does depend on if you like goat or not, nothing spectacular Chickpea fritter- probably the best thing we had, interesting elements and the fritters themselves were smashed chickpeas so the smooth interior with the light crispy exterior was nice. I got the following dishes + drinks: FOOD - Crispy quinoa + tuna poke salad: MUST TRY!! This is my favorite dish out of everything. It was so fresh, flavorful, and the fish had a nice texture. The toasted quinoa and candied pecans added the perfect crunch. I would back here just to eat this. - Pork shank: another one of my favorite dishes from dinner!! What a neat spot! I came with a small group on a weekday evening and this place was jam packed. The flavors were bold and fresh. Despite the busy-ness, service was quick and servers were attentive. Disco fries 5/5: The crispy, thin cut shoestring fries paired topped with an herby aioli paired perfectly with the pickled onions. Must try! Roasted oysters 3/5: Not offensive, but also nothing special. I didn't get too much flavor. Goat empanadas 4/5: The goat was flavorful, and the puff pastry was flakey, but it felt like there was not enough goat for the meat-to-filling ratio. Hamachi poke (not pictured) 3.5/5: Not my personal favorite in terms of taste, but still very inventive. It tasted like carpaccio due to the brown butter sauce. First off, the place is gorgeous and has a great atmosphere. My low rating mainly comes from their lack of attention to detail. I booked a lunch reservation for myself and a friend, mentioning that I'm vegan and she's pescatarian. The host confirmed our dietary needs at check-in, which was a nice touch. When we were seated, I received a vegan menu, which was another win. The staff were super nice and friendly, and even though they accidentally served us the wrong mocktails, it wasn't a big deal. The real issue arose when the food arrived. Instead of the maitake lettuce wraps I ordered, they brought out chicken. I was suspicious because of the texture and smell, but since there are some great meat alternatives, I asked my friend to taste it just to be sure. I kept thinking that with all the confirmations about my veganism and ordering from the vegan menu, it couldn't possibly be meat. My friend said she couldn't tell if it was meat or not because it was seasoned so well, which makes sense since she doesn't eat chicken. I put a tiny piece in my mouth and immediately knew. Honestly, I felt like crying. The server took the food back, spoke to the chef, and said they would resolve the issue. The manager came over with an excuse about how the way the dish is printed in the kitchen caused confusion. When I explained how it was unacceptable, especially after confirming my veganism multiple times, he said, 'Well, you didn't eat it, right?' I pointed out that my pescatarian friend tried it for me. I felt like the manager lacked empathy and didn't really do much to address the situation, other than saying they would change the printing process in the kitchen. I get that the restaurant is new and probably still figuring things out, but I can't recommend it to the vegan community, especially for those who are vegan for ethical reasons. Not only was chicken wasted on my behalf, it also felt like the oversight wasn't taken seriously enough. I've been a fan ever since watching Chef Stephanie Izard on Top Chef and eating at Girl and the Goat in Chicago! I came for brunch and it was so delicious. The goat empanada was yummy with a slightly sweet flavor (reminded me of the chicken cilicia fillos from La Mediterranee) and tangy sauce. The veggie one was a bit hit too. The crust was buttery and perfect and not too hard and overcooked. I loved the Bloody Mary cocktail, it had just the right amount of alcohol and spices in there. We also ordered the coconut labneh - like a yogurt parfait, and so delicious with fruit and granola. The asparagus salad was a standout too. My husband doesn't like asparagus and this salad won him over! So pretty to look at and every bite was so flavorful. The salmon spread with pita was also great with the pickled onions and chilis on the side. The only dish I didn't get to try that I wanted was the cinnamon roll/biscuit hybrid. I'll have to come back! Also, the location is so cute, it makes me want to be a guest at the hotel. Food (4/5) We came as a party of 10 for brunch on a Friday and ordered pretty much the entire menu of small plates (see pictures - I didn't get pictures of the Goat Empanadas nor the Avocado Dip). If I were to come back, I would for sure re-order the Goat Empanadas (so flaky, flavorful, delicioussss) Skuna Salmon Salad or Shrimp Salad (fresh and grilled to perfection, not overcooked!), and Three-Sauce Chicken (flavorful though on the saltier side but that's normal considering it's paired with the lettuce cups). I personally did not like the Sautéed Green Beans (too salty, though my friend thought they were fine), Chickpeas (not exciting nor worth the price imo), Pork Belly Noodles (it was giving overpriced not great japchae?), Avocado Dip (the plantains were sliced very long and awkward to dip - the plantain would break off into several pieces and just wasn't a structurally sound carrier for the dip). Food was yummy but wouldn't say it was the BEST overall, though there are highlights (and lowlights). Drinks were good! I just tried the mocktail. Price (4/5) This is more of a $$$ restaurant, but I don't know if I am a big supporter of $20 green beans. Overall, expect to spend ~$30 per person, possibly more. We were also charged ~$8 per person for still/sparkling water, rather than per bottle (we only drank 2-3 bottles worth), so that was interesting. Cocktails are $15-20. Wait Time (5/5) I made a reservation through their phone call system about 3-4 weeks prior (when reservations open up)! It was seamless. We were seated very soon after our reservation time. Service (5/5) Our waitress was pleasant and gave great recommendations - since we were a large party she suggested that we order the plates and to share the dishes family style, which was ideal as we all got to taste each dish. Ambiance (5/5) I love the goat motif! It's on the napkins and other areas of the restaurant. The inside is very California-chic in my opinion, with a lot of natural lighting and foliage. The bathrooms were fine - definitely giving remodeled old hotel vibes. Parking/Access (4/5) On the day of our reservation they were only doing valet parking. Would have preferred if self-parking was available. Could be tricky as there are companies nearby and looks like the employees also utilize the lot by the restaurant. Valley Goat is such a nice addition to the Sunnyvale area. The walk to the restaurant from the self parking lot was so cute it made me want to book a stay-cation. Anyways the food is great and my camera ate first only for these dishes. We ordered more as I dined with a group of 4. The oysters were so good and I enjoyed their recommendation on how to eat them similar to a sandwich with the jam and bread crackers they added. The fries were a rollercoaster ride of good and different flavors. Not pictured are the goat and veggie empanadas and sticky pork shank but those were also amazing. Gorgeous restaurant. Really sexy and cozy vibe. Perfect for date nights. Food is delicious and cooked really well. We really enjoyed the disco fries, brussel sprouts, and the sticky pork shank. They were the highlight of the meal. Valley Goat is both beautiful and delicious! The restaurant is located at the new Treehouse hotel in north Sunnyvale. Their attention to detail has created a peaceful, bright environment filled with plants and comfortable seating. The menu is interesting and the flavors of the dishes are creative. Go visit for both the food and to enjoy the beautiful grounds. The goat empanadas and pork shank (enough for two people to share) were the highlights of our meal. The mango sticky rice is a modern spin on the dish with mango ice cream instead of fresh mango. They also serve brunch on weekends, which I'm looking forward to trying. Amazing date night! First, the restaurant is beautiful. We easily found parking in the back. We were seated next to the kitchen, which was fun to watch. Our waiter was great, explained everything. We ended up getting a ton of food. We actually got a little more since the kitchen messed up an order and they asked if we wanted it. Ummm of course. lol. After a birthday celebration for my cousin, we came out to a $700 bill. There were 10 of us in this party, we ordered about 5-6 plates and each had a drink or 2. Originally they suggested we order 10 plates but we decided to stick with 5-6 due to the prices. The food was good, not great. The empanadas were the best thing we ordered- but we had to order two because there were only 2 in each plate ($20 btw). Drinks were also good but not great - best one was the hot spring spritz. They charged us for our still (some got sparkling) water which we didn't even know was an additional cost, they just poured it for us without notifying us and it was about $36 for water- WILD. Service was also typical, nothing too amazing. Ambiance was probably the best thing about this place. When we first made the reservation 2 weeks ago, they promised us an outside table. Once we got here, they said we had an inside table because there was a large party who booked outside "months in advance". Bit of a miscommunication on their end. Overall, not worth how expensive it was. They did charge us for 20% service charge since we were more than 6 people. I just don't think it was worth $700 for everything ($70 per person), But unless you are willing to splurge then I would stay clear of this place. If maybe the food and drinks were superb then I would be willing to pay a heavy fee but since it was only okay, then it was not worth it. read more

Sooooo charming - this place is adorable!! From the first step onto this hotel property you will be immersed n the rustic modern charm of this place. It has quaint farmhouse decor throughout. The restaurant has an airy indoor outdoor concept with a full bar area. The menu is very Silicon Valley contemporary American... pulling inspiration from so many worldly influences... Thai, Korean, Japanese, Latin, Spanish, Chinese and coastal seafood... and more. Our server was sweet and attentive, providing suggestions as needed. We ordered: "WOOD-FIRED SPROUTED Cailiflower, SAUTÉED GREEN BEANS, STICKY PORK SHANK, WOOD-FIRED WHOLE BRANZINO" I'd order them all again except the green beans - which were good but heavy on the sauce. All the other dishes simply delight the palate - savory, sweet, smoky, crispy, tangy, chewy, spicy... really so much going on, just enjoy the balanced tantalizing eating experience! The pork shank is by far the most popular dish and had the Korean influences. I'm really glad we tried the Bronzino, especially since we love Thai flavors. In my reservation, I mentioned it was a birthday for my husband, and so they added a special dessert for him. With a candle, no song though, but we're good with that, lol! read more

Heard about this place from our mutual friend and came as a group of 4 . I can't help but compared between this place and the one in LA I visited a while ago called girl and the goat. I have no idea how they're related but here we are , seems like this is the only restaurant existing now. The checking process was rlly not smooth. Idk if there were too many customers or the hosts were underpaid, the hosts seem very unhelpful. The place is too big and there was only a few floating staffs walking around. Nobody seems to wanna help each other or notice that ppl need help. They tell a bunch of ppl to huddle right in front of the bar to wait for *someone* to lead us to our table. And no one rlly come after like 5-10 mins. Leaving us super confused. The host found us walking around and was like you're supposed to wait at the door and wait. She finally lead us to a table and we were chatting about the sun will be directly in some of our friends heads, and the host does nothing. No offer to help and no suggestions whatsoever. Anyhoo. The menu was not as expected as on the weekends serve only brunch. Food is mostly sharable and tasty. The servers you also have to remind them several times of your requests. There's no designated parking btw. It is built next to a newly renovated hotel and Google. Be aware Google does tow during the weekdays. Honestly. Won't pay this much for some crappy service. We are staying at the Treehouse hotel in Sunnyvale, which has this quirky luxury camp vibe and sits on a campus with Google Cloud in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by highways. We went to Valley Goat for lunch today and had absolutely delicious food - I had the shrimp salad, with perfectly charred grilled shrimp and avocado and pickled onions, and my husband had the deconstructed tuna hand roll and the Brussels sprouts, both of which were incredible. We have dinner reservations tomorrow and now we're REALLY excited for it! General vibe is plant-filled and airy, very outside-in feeling. read more
