Easily the worst Valvoline in the Rochester area. Their waiting time on their app is never right. They never give you a correct estimate of how long it'll take. They don't seem to know what they're doing. They never fill my tires with the correct air pressure. They fill my tires with the wrong air pressure even when I ask them not to touch my tires. I allowed this location to perform oil changes on my 2022 Nissan rogue twice. They damaged my skip plate and my undercarriage. At first they tried to cover it up by giving me a free oil upgrade. Once I discovered my car had been damaged by them I came back for them to take a look and order the parts to fix it. They acknowledged that they damaged my car in multiple places because they did not know how to properly put my skip plate back onto my undercarriage. Now they are trying to deny the claim deny the damage and refusing to show me the video footage from the bay when they had my car. They will damage your car and try to cover it up! You are better off going to Delta Sonic or a backyard mechanic before dealing with Valvoline. read more

I went back into the Valvoline, and they told me to take it to the dealership, Sunday afternoon, dealerships were closed I was stranded 60 miles from home!!! They paid the tow and repair fee but not for me having to find a way home and to work for 2 days while my car was being fixed. read more

Went in just to get my exhaust flex pipe replaced, and they tried to tell me that i had to get my catalytic converter replaced because they are connected (that is not correct and i had recently had my catalytic converter replaced). I told them i knew that was not true and they hung up, called back 10 minutes later and said they were wrong and that the exhaust flex pipe would "only" be 700 dollars. Complete scam. Not sure if it's because i am a women or if they do this to everyone. Safe to say im going to be getting it done somewhere else and will not be coming back. read more

After pulling up at this location, four different people came to ask me what I needed. How hard is it to get an oil change when "oil change" is in your company name? They seemed disorganized, though I left there happy. Jake was helpful and friendly, and once it was communicated to the staff that yes indeed, I needed an oil change, it didn't take very long to get in and out. My biggest complaint was that it was really overpriced. Something like $70-dollars for an oil change I can get at Delta Sonic for $25 less. My daughter had a horrible experience today concerning this location. She went there for an oil change but they told her they did not have the oil she needed for her Jeep. They opened the hood but did not close it tightly. As she was getting on the highway her hood flew open and obscured her view. This should never happen. Thank goodness she was able to pull over to a safe place and secure her hood. She was so scared and upset. She called but the person that received her call seemed bored about her complaint! I love that this place is drive thru. I stay right in my vehicle and it doesn't take awfully long. They say 15 minute oil change but in reality probably 25-30 minutes. Yes, they try to sell you all these extra treatments and flushes and air filters but that's to be expected. They don't PUSH them they offer them because they have to, tell you why they are a good idea but they tell you Ultimately it's completely up to you. My only dislike is that I end up paying twice as much for an oil change here vs going to a local dealership BUT it's quicker, I don't need an appointment and I don't even have to get out of my car. Plus there are really great coupons and Groupons if you plan ahead of time. $42.99 for conventional oil, $52.99 for synthetic and then there is another one that's another grade up for I believe $62.99. read more

I ALWAYS use a local joint that's dependable but being in a holiday rush, I needed a quick oil change before heading out of town. Despite knowing I'd have to sit through 15 minutes of upselling (better oil for $20 more, you're air filter is dirty, etc) I said whatever, it'll be quick. Just as I thought they were wrapping up, I see a look of horror come over a guy's face and him start to panic. After a huddle with some other "techs" I know something is wrong. Maybe it's a sales technique and they're going to tell me I need some special washer fluid. Nope, much worse. "Dan, we have some bad news. One of our guys thought he was draining your oil but, he actually drained your transmission fluid. Unfortunately, we can't service your kind of transmission here so, we have to call a tow truck." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? I get mistakes get made but holy hell this is ridiculous. How could anyone work at an oil change center and have such a blunder. I'm now sitting in the waiting room waiting for a tow truck to bring my car out to Victor. I'm also going to need a rental car as the repair to the damage VOIC just did. I had the worst experience at this Valvoline location that I've ever heard of. First, I waited in line for an instant oil change for 45 minutes to get to the front of line, only to be told by 2 male workers that they couldn't open my hood enough to service my car. I asked them to try it again, since my boyfriend and our mechanic had recently had no trouble with this basic issue. Again, they tried while I was in the car and said nope, you will have to leave. Since I was leaving the next day for a road trip vacation and needed the oil changed, I was unhappy. But, after I left and picked up my boyfriend, he was livid. We only had so much time to get things ready for our trip and this was so strange. He opened the hood himself and we headed back to Valvoline. 2nd experience, same day: the workers said it must've been a fluke or something got caught (never really figured it out), but they put us in front of the line since it was still about an hour wait for customers. Then, they pretended to treat us with care, only to find out that they drained the old oil, performed none of the fluid checks and sent us away with what they said was an oil change - only for us to get 5 miles away and still suspecting something strange - we pulled over the checked the oil and it was 100% dry. NO oil was added into the car. They never showed us the dipstick = never did any service at all. Just talked to us while we were upset about the first visit and printed a nice invoice, took our money and could've destroyed our engine! 3rd visit - drove back after buying a quart of oil from Speedway, explained what happened. I couldn't even speak to the workers but my boyfriend did. We got an oil change - we made sure of it. Yes, we were comped the cost. But, it took 3 hours and 3 visits on one day to get a basic oil change here. Oh and by the way, all the workers had other employees uniforms on. So, the nametags were all incorrect. We asked Alex ( who was wearing Audrey's shirt) about it and he admitted they all wore each other's uniforms. Couldn't get an answer about who the actual manager was that day. I don't like using places like these, but you have to admit that they are convenient. So, that said, let me TRY to be impartial. Yes, there was a wait, and yes, they tried to 'upsell' me, and yes, I expected this. Also, yes, they did an oil change for me that took about 30 minutes from the time I got in line until the time I left. So far, no problems. What concerns me, especially after reading Dan W.'s review from just a few days later is that the knowledge base at this particular location is dangerously low. When I came in for my oil change, they opened my hood, and the tech looked around, then grabbed a broom handle to prop my hood open, despite a prop bar CLEARLY present. Being already annoyed by my wait outside, I snarkily said "I don't want that guy working on my car". Maybe I saved myself a lot of pain by doing so? Anyway, after doing something as trivial as changing my oil and filter, they needed to call a manager to check the work was done properly! Wow, talk about confidence building.... In the past, I've had techs at Valvoline actually crack my air intake with their ham-fisted handling of the air filter canister on my previous car, so my trust for their abilities was already pretty low. I always tell them to not bother checking the air filter just to avoid this happening again! If you want anything more complicated than a simple oil change done, do NOT have it done on a busy day, and always watch them like a hawk! It's obvious that a good number of the people working here are unfit for the auto repair field, and are just 'wrench turners'. read more

My car oil needed replacing and I always would go to Valvoline, when they didn't have my oil I said no worries and told them I was going to head out. They failed to close my car hood properly and this resulted in my hood flying open on the highway! Luckily I was okay and so was my car, but I was horrified, it happened while I was merging! When I called to report it was very obvious they saw my call as an inconvenience and didn't offer any help or reason for me to return. read more

I've grown weary of going to these places but I was in a pinch for time so I decided to stop here for them to get my business. If you like trained monkeys for service here is your place, the attendants first mistake was lying to me about my air-filter interchange every other oil change (every 6,000 miles), after consulting my owners manual the recommended interval is every 30,000 miles. The second strike was I am 'over due' for my automatic transmission service, considering this was the time to Valvoline how would they know? Did they ask for my service records? Did they check my fluid to determine the oil viscosity? No, they didn't in large part to the fact my car is MANUAL! An example of how there trained monkeys at their best. They don't care about you, your car, or dignity. It's unfortunate that most places are like this, preying on the week. I will not give my service at either a retail location, or off the shelf the next time I do an oil change. Behavior like this is enforced by management and probably the company as well. read more

Friendly, professional.. It's like a drive-through oil-change: they work while you sit in your car browsing the internet on your phone - takes around 15 min. Two bays capability for 2 cars each, I didn't have to wait in line on a Sat even though its Henrietta so you might expect it to be busy - they have nice hours for working folks that can't make it to garages that close at 5 (open on weekends and late-ish during the week). Nice perks such as setting your tire pressure (complimentary) and filling up washer fluid (complimentary). They may offer tire rotation, transmission fluid etc but weren't particularly pushy at least with me, in fact they noted that my tread was pretty even so they didn't recommend I pay for a rotation. Price was 75-85$ for a fully synthetic oil change inc. tax (depending on if your car needs more than 5 quarts). read more

I went to this Valvoline on a whim for an oil change and new wiper blades. Brenn, the manager, took care of me. He was incredibly polite and professional. I stayed in my car the whole time, which was GREAT. It only took about 25 minutes to change the oil, put on new wiper blades, and to replace two filters. He asked if I wanted the filters changed or not, and I was hesitant, and he was not aggressive at all and did not pressure me. I looked at the current filters and they were clearly gross and needed changing. I didn't have any coupons, and Brenn applied one for me that saved me about 10% overall, on top of a wiper blade special they had going. I'm new to NY, and I asked him about how the annual inspection process worked. He explained it to me in detail and even gave me a tip on what some places might charge, because many people don't know that there is a flat price mandated by the state. I took my car in for a NYS inspection. Technician said that it failed because the OBD communicator could not communicate twitch their equipment, even though my personal code reader that I used could. Told me that it was the car's fault and that I should take it to the dealership to get looked at. Took it to Firestone later and it passed. They didn't care that it was their fault, just trying to get cars through and make as much money off of you. I wouldn't go here. The staff is incompetent and do the bare minimum. read more

Their battery test is completely inaccurate, their test said that my battery is 70% but when I got it tested at 2 other places they said that the battery was very close to dead. I got stuck in a parking lot with a dead battery. These guys overcharge you in the first place and give you a coupon for $10. Specifically, this location has bad service. I would not waste my money here again. Someone at the battery shop told me that it's like: getting your Steak at Walmart. Its actually a somewhat stressful experience getting my oil changed at Valvoline. I take one of our cars every few months in for an oil change and they make several recommendations for filters, battery and other parts. It's annoying, frustrating and makes me want to take our car elsewhere for oil changes. Not to mention, you have to call the 800# to get the best coupon discounts. While I understand the strategy of trying to upsell every car that come through their business, Valvoline should ask at the point of first interaction if the customer wants to hear about any worn parts or offers. Otherwise, change my oil and stop harassing me. It makes for an uncomfortable experience. Btw...have you ever thought of sending customers a coupon (email, text) with a discount that includes a list of items you would like to check on the next visit? It may be helpful so customers know what to expect as part of the visit. Update after Valvoline responded: My two points were I (nor do I think anyone else) wants to be hassled about a bunch of parts on our car that may be aging when we just want an oil change. Secondly, the Valvoline website, mailed coupons, social media did not have the best coupon. I needed to call the corporate 800# to get a $15 dollar off coupon. Let me start saying that I know that quick change lube places are a rip-off, but I did't knew how much. I went in today just because it was a lousy weather and din't want to deal with an oil change today. So the guy told me that my car use 0w-20 oil and one option is $65. for max life semi-synthetic and $89. for full-synthetic. I told him "are you kidding right? That synthetic oil is 20 some bucks." And he reply " well the cost of labor too" my reply " more than 70 dollars in labor? Forget it, let me out." He said "well I can give you a discount of $15 for the first time here" I said "no just let me out, what do you think that I'm stupid or what? Just open the dame door and let me out." and he did. If you go to Walmart the max life oil is $17.97 and the synthetic is $22.97 ad a regular filter like Fram extra guard (witch is not the best but for comparison only and remember they buy everything on bulk prizes so is cheaper any way) is $6.63. With max life is $24.60 and with synthetic is $29.60. Are you telling me that your labor for 15 minutes is $70. dollars? THAT IS A RIP-OFF. I went and bought Mobil-1 full synthetic 15,000 mile oil and $26.78 and a Fram ultra synthetic filter for $10.82. Both are better quality that what they were offering for $37.60. and it took me less than 1/2 an hour to do (remember I don't have a great set up of a garage like they do) but still I saved $51. and some. Take as you wish, but I work for a living and $90 dollars is almost a full day of work for an oil change that I did in half an hour for 5 hours of my day of work less than in this place. And if Brenn Solomon the manager of this station read this my name is Vincent F. Check on your computer and see if I was there or not and you'll know that all of this is true. read more

I brought my vehicle in for an inspection, attracted mainly by the fact that it's very close to my home. My vehicle is in great shape, as I am very adamant in maintaining my cars by the book. The initial contact was easy, pleasant, and rather fast. I decided to leave my car there for an hour or so, as I had some shopping to do. When I returned I was greeted by a very obviously inexperienced tech, who had absolutely no idea how to deal with people. They failed my inspection because they "couldn't get their emissions scanner (not sure if that is the right terminology) to connect to my vehicle". I took my vehicle to the dealership, thinking that something was wrong. They did the inspection without any problems. Valvoline charged me for an inspection and I still had to pay the dealer.
