I scheduled my car for a recall service, sacrificing my Friday yoga plans to handle adulting. Upon arrival, I was informed the part needed to fix my car was damaged--three days prior. Yet, no one bothered to call me and save me the time nor gas. Annoying? Yes. But here's the thing: if the service rep had just been less aloof, I would've been annoyed but understanding. Instead, he gave a "masterclass" in not caring. It was giving we've got to make way for the paying customers. Could this be a projection, yes, but if I was running up a four figure bill, I think my reception would've been a lot different. When I asked when the part would be available, that could not be determined and I was advised to call another dealership myself, I don't know if there's Kendrick and Drake beef between dealerships, if his fingers would've caught fire had he dared call Glendale, but it felt like after knowingly making an error some form of courtesy could've been extended. The only positive and the reason this is a one star and not a zero star review was Denise, who kindly returned my call after I was mistakenly transferred to her instead of Amir, the service manager. She passed along my message, but Amir must still be deep in thought because I haven't heard back from him. While there's humor here, the experience was dismissive and frustrating. A little empathy could've turned this whole situation around. Instead, I was left feeling disregarded. When it's time for a new car, I'll be taking my hard-earned dollars far away from Kia Van Nuys. read more

To give y'all a little storytime -- I had a 2016 Kia Forte for almost a decade and over that last couple years in LA, I received a couple of recalls. I've always taken it to Van Nuys Kia and they've always done such a good job at repairing my car, washing it, even calling a Lyft if I needed to get back home. Since my old car was well...old! And high in miles I started shopping around in November '24 while it was being serviced. My sales man was JJ and I cannot give him enough praise. He was so patient, answered all my questions, wasn't pushy and really made me feel like he cared about me and getting me a SAFE car. It never felt like he was trying to "sell me anything". He felt like a friend. Due to my previous car being from Michigan, there was a longer process with getting my title but they were so great at communication and were patient with me. When I finally got my new car, there was a minor system error (nothing major) and JJ even stayed on the phone with me way last store hours to make sure everything was okay. Need to get better maintenance packages for EV vehicles!!! It's horrible that the state is wanting everyone to buy an EV vehicle and yet there's no specials for it. Everything is full price compared to gas vehicles. When to Kia of Van Nuys for oil changed. I was offered full service and paid more than I expected. Waited for more than an hour which I expected. Expecting all the inspections was done properly but no. I came home and check the air filter was not replaced. The cabin filter was also dirty and was not replaced. I paid that much money and did not even bother to replace both filters which cost less than $20.00 and yet I paid for the full service for almost $270.00. read more

I bought a 2021 Kia here in December 2023 and everything went pretty smoothly. They did try to sell me on a few things that they said were mandatory until I pushed them harder and they said they could take them off the price. I think I got a good deal though! My bad review is mainly based on my recent experience with the service department. We got a recall notice on my car, called to make an appointment and they said they didn't have anything available for a few weeks. When I brought my car in they said they need to keep it for a couple of days but refused to give me a loaner car, but did send me in a Lyft home since I was about 5 miles away. A couple days later they called and said it needs an engine replacement and they will need to keep it for a while (no timeline given) so I went back down there to get a loaner car. They asked for the same documents from me multiple times after I already sent them. They didn't provide me with updates. They ended up keeping my car for over a month. When they finally told me to come pick it up they didn't tell me they moved the car so I went to the wrong location. After an hour of waiting they brought out my car and it was covered in bird poop so I had to wait another 15 minutes for them to wash it. Also, I asked how much an oil change was and they said $130, which is super expensive. I would definitely not recommend getting your car serviced here ever! read more

Avoid This Dealership! I purchased a 2022 Kia EV6 from Van Nuys Kia, and it has been nothing but trouble. A recall in June 2023 required a VCU software update, but my local Kia service dealer discovered an aftermarket GPS device installed by Van Nuys Kia. This unauthorized device shorted the VCU, delaying repairs by 20 days while a replacement was shipped from Korea. The entire recall process lasted 39 days, which qualifies under lemon law. Shockingly, I was never informed about this additional device when I purchased the car--the sales team didn't disclose it at all. This raises serious questions: 1.Is this GPS device even approved by Kia? 2.What data has it been collecting, and how has it been used? I've also learned Van Nuys Kia routinely installs these risky devices. This situation has been a major inconvenience, and I strongly advise against purchasing cars from this dealership. DO NOT GO TO THIS SCAMMING DEALERSHIP -- TRUST THE AWFUL REVIEWS!!!! They told me I had to pay over $200 upfront for them to run a diagnosis on my car to see why it's burning so much oil. My Kia is still under warranty, so I called the warranty company after and they told me that Van Nuys Kia is not following their contract/claims process. You should only be paying for the diagnosis AFTER they diagnose the problem, then the warranty company will determine if it's covered or not. Upon telling the warranty company my concerns with my car, they see there is a claim for my car from over two years claiming that Kia Van Nuys replaced something in my car under warranty WHICH NEVER HAPPENED. Peter from Van Nuys Kia filed a claim through my warranty about this random replacement and scammed the warranty company the day after I got a new battery from there... I even gave them a good review for helping me replace my battery. They lied about my car mileage on the paperwork too. I'VE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH MY CAR... I KEEP ALL OF MY RECORDS/RECEIPTS. I'll be taking my business to Kia Santa Monica (the JM&A warranty company recommended them anyways since dealerships like Van Nuys Kia tend to scam people). Kia Santa Monica is doing free diagnostic tests this month anyways, so GO THERE YALL. Whoever is running this and Peter who literally did a fraudulent claim aren't honest.
