Absolute professionals here at Van Nuys Kia. From the minute I stepped onto the lot, I was greeted by friendly faces that were never pushy and willing to answer any of my naive questions. The stellar service was exemplified by one particular Sales Associate, Ramon Vallejo. Just to give you some background, before I headed off to the dealership I did some extensive research on models, trims, costs, etc. (as most people do at this time), so when I came onsite Ramon immediately (from memory) took me to the exact cars I was looking for, down to the stock number! We discussed the differences between trims and gave me his expert advice, which I truthfully used in my consideration for my next car. He was patient with all my annoying questions, and was the consummate Sales Professional! I ended up choosing a 2021 Forte EX, and I could not be happier. This whole experience was AWFUL. I highly don't recommend coming here especially if you're "Latino". My partner and I were hoping to purchase a vehicle at this dealership. Russel De La Torre, the car salesman, seemed great at first until his true colors were shown towards the exit. We arrived at 8 o'clock in the evening. De La Torre was able to let us drive the vehicle that we liked and once we were done, he wanted to discuss the process in his cubicle. We were looking to put a small down payment at first on the $25K vehicle (keep in mind that this is a basic sedan car). During the process, we kept getting interrupted by his cellphone twice. His girlfriend kept calling and we had to wait for him since we were on "his time". I let the first phone call slide but the second phone call seemed extremely unprofessional by then. Moving forward, he gave us an APR was around 3% because of a promotion with KIA; however, our monthly payments for an overall roughly $36K vehicle (with a $5K mark up, taxes, dmv fees and accessories) for 72 months were going to be around $500. This is a BASIC new car, a 2022 model, and putting 7K down. He also kept insulting and belittling my math because my calculations were wrong. He said a comment, "I don't know what school you went to but your math is wrong." Compared to his high school diploma knowledge, I didn't need a computer to finalizing any math problems. Also, no one ever pays the bare minimum on a car payment. It's logical but according to him, it seemed like a great deal. He showed us on his computer that even with 20K down, our monthly payments were still going to be $500 and yet, MY math was wrong. He also mentioned that if we're Latinos he'll "help us out". I don't understand why ethnicities or even race has to be involved if he was going to take advantage of a sale. I'm assuming if you're Latino you'll get screwed over like we did and possibly insult you. Towards the end of the process, he wasn't helping us out, all he was able to do was lower $10 on the monthly payment LOL, and our credit scores are way above average. He said credit isn't important when it comes to purchasing a vehicle...shocker. We told him we'd rather go somewhere else so we got up and headed towards the door. He sarcastically said, "goOoOoOd LuUuuUck". All we said was thank you so my partner walked in front of me to hold the door. As soon as I had one foot stepped out, I heard him say, "fucking idiots". Their was a family in the lobby and looked shocked when De La Torre said his comment ,so I responded, "What did you say to me?" and he raised his voice and said, "NOTHING" and walked away. We're no longer coming back here and I hope no "Latino" comes to this place and gets treated the way we did. We waited a couple of days to see if they would give us a courtesy call like a decent car dealership would and they didn't. It's unfortunate that throughout your high school years they don't teach you etiquette but working with customer service should build your persona. read more

Rude rude rude. Went there to buy a new car for our son last week and a pod of salesmen we're hovering in the parking lot. First one came over with his mask at his chin and was insulted we asked him to put it on. We asked to sit in a K5 in the lot and he said ok but another guy came over and said there were no K5s, none, we could sit in. His mask was under his nose. Not only were they totally disinterested in helping us but covid protocol was not taken seriously. They were more interested in chit chatting in their man-group than helping us. She was wonderful to work with, and helped get everything ready for me as I flew down to LA to pick up the car [yes, I went from Bay area to LA to buy the car, such are the times :-)..] At the dealership, they were ready with all the documentation for me. I never write reviews, but felt obligated to here. Terrible all-around professionalism, work quality, communication, and transparency into the services being provided. Sometimes things go wrong, but there was no personal accountability and only shifting blame and/or gaslighting customers. Some additional notes following one vehicle inspection at Kia Van Nuys: 1) Kia Van Nuys made a recommendation to replace front & rear brake pads, which additional inspections from other local mechanics determined was not required (only front). 2) Other mechanics also noted significant irregular wear on tires which resulted in a tire replacement and wheel alignment. Kia Van Nuys did not evaluate this as part of the inspection. 3) Car was left with oil smudges on exterior and not washed despite signing up for a package with a car wash. Promotional packages mailed to you do not match the services that are actually conducted. 4) Air in tires were filled up irregularly which required an additional stop to fix myself. 5) I never got a call back when inspection was complete, because they logged an incorrect phone number to our profile. Find a local mechanic that has incentive to keep your business and offer you a great experience. I will not be going back. read more

On Christmas day of 2022 my Kia Optima started making a horrible banging noise. I was able to bring it over to Kia Van Nuys the following day which was Monday and I was advised that the engine of my car was gone. So started a scary time for me since I know very little about cars. I shouldn't have worried so much as the car was under warranty and with the assistance of the very able help of service manager Ismael B. and Advisor Andres U. the situation was not painful at all. Not so lucky today. I had to wait three long hours, after having an appointment, for a simple oil change which the rep. estimated to take 90 min. When I told the rep. that I live far and wish they told me in the beginning the wait will be double, he said, "Why don't you live close by?!" Strange. He also reassured me he applied the Kia coupon I showed him with the estimate, but at the end the coupon wasn't added in the bill. When I asked about the coupon, he said they are going to give me double coupon next time. Let see how that works. read more

This review is about the experience I had with their pre-owned sales staff. I had narrowed my car search down to two models and the one Van Nuys had was my preferred car. The listed price was reasonable and I drove 80 minutes to get there after making an appointment. The vehicle was not in a driveable condition and the sales rep said that a rodent must have gnawed through a wire overnight. Huh? I asked what repairs had been made to the vehicle after they purchased it. We went inside the shop where a screen showed several repairs including brakes. It also indicated that the struts were leaking and there was possible damage in the wheel wells. No repairs were scheduled. We went back to the showroom and the salesman pitched me on the $1,800 of dealer recommendations. I declined and asked for a discount. The manager didn't seem to listen. The sales rep said that if I hadn't asked for what was repaired, I would have bought the car since it was a good deal. End of conversation. read more

Fraudulent warranty claim filed by Van Nuys Kia using my personal records. During a call regarding another claim, my third-party CPO warranty holder, JM&A, informed me of an $1800 repair ordered in March 2023 using my vin, warranty and vehicle information. I have not returned to this dealership since June of 2022 and this 2023 repair was ordered by the same service advisor. The vehicle mileage in this service record does not match other records of my car's service history. Take your car elsewhere. read more

I purchased a used vehicle from Van Nuys Kia on December 18th and in hindsight I wish gone to a different dealership. In my defense, I was sort of stuck as I had just sold my car and needed another vehicle asap. I have been a Kia owner for over 20 years, so I figured I would go to the local dealership instead of ubering out to Cerritos. First of all, I only became aware of the "optional accessories" when I was in the middle of executing the paperwork to purchase the car. I remember it vividly because I commented how they were "mandatory, optional accessories" since they had already been installed on the vehicle. This information was not disclosed before hand, ethically it seems that it should have been, but it was not. There wasn't a price sticker listing the information about the car and I trusted what the dealership had posted on their website. I should have known better and walked away from the deal but I didn't. Okay, my fault, they got me...buyer beware. Optional (already installed=mandatory) Accessories: ELO GPS - $599 (I was told this would reduce my car insurance, not true) Carefree Paint Protection - $550 Nitrofill - $199 (special air for tires-WTF!) 3M edge guard - $550 btw...these are ALL accessories I would have NEVER opted for had I truly had the option to do so. Additionally, there is a piece of window trim missing from the passenger side rear window of the vehicle. Following the test drive I was told had been ordered and would be replaced. It's been over a month and I have yet to receive a call to bring in the car so it can be fixed. And I was told that they would look into providing a 2nd key as I only received one, obviously I am still waiting. I have reached out several times, no response. Hopefully the tags for the car's registration will arrive soon. I was told that the sticker on my windshield will cover me until February...which is next week. Driving around with 2020 license tags is somewhat unnerving but I am going to remain hopeful about this particular matter and have faith that I will not have to reach out to DMV to remedy it. I tried calling today and pretty much got the run around (lots of "um, um, um"). Instead of getting angry I decided to write this review so that others can avoid having a similar experience. Needless to say this has been a very disappointing experience for me. If you are considering purchasing a Kia please do yourself a favor and do not purchase it from Van Nuys Kia as their sales tactics are questionable and customer service is lacking.
