What all was to be included. We had no eggplant tapenade & no dipped strawberries. Not even enough of each sandwich for all of us to try
    Alyssa A.

Alright. I wasn't going to leave a review but this has literally been irritating me since Mother's Day. My sister and I decided to treat our Mom to Gia Visto's annual "Mother's Day tea." I called weeks in advance and made a reservation for 1:45pm. It was advertised that the event would be from 11am until 3pm. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation and I went in first to check in. After standing at the counter for about 5 minutes, someone finally asked me if I was from the tea party. I said I just got here for a reservation at 1:45. Several people looked up at me from the kitchen and they all looked confused. The lady said "Oh" and came up to the counter to check the book for my reservation. A few minutes later I see someone scrambling in the dining room to set a table for us. Great, they forgot about our reservation. We were finally seated around 1:55 and were brought a pitcher of hot water for our tea. Next, we were each given a small bowl of fruit. What came out next is the part that really bothers me. The waitress brings out a 3-tiered stand with assorted "sandwiches" and pastries. It was advertised that we were to get eggplant tapenade on pita, which was nowhere to be found. Also chocolate dipped strawberries which were absent as well. We did get three tiny strawberries about the size of a quarter (maybe a little smaller, I kid you not) that had a little dollop of something in the middle. Keep in mind, we had 3 adults in our party. There were TWO of each "sandwich" so not even enough for each of us to try each one. I put sandwich in quotations because they were SO tiny you literally finished them in two bites. I understand a tea party is supposed to be finger sandwiches, but these were absolutely pathetic. Also, it was advertised as just "savory sandwiches" (I will attach a photo of the flyer). We also each received a sliver of quiche and a cinnamon roll which I will say were both good. But again, barely any quiche. It was pretty clear that they forgot about our reservation. It's like they took whatever food they had leftover and gave it to us, and there wasn't even enough for each of us to try each thing. This was our Mother's Day gift to our mom and I was extremely embarrassed. We arrived hungry and left starving. For $26/person, I expected so much more. After a tip we spent nearly $100. For pretty much nothing. I can say with certainty that this was the most disappointing dining experience I've ever had in my life. I wish the restaurant could've owned up to forgetting about our reservation and taken some time to make sure there was food for all of us, instead of serving us all of the leftovers. Needless to say we will never be dining here again.

New location 7505 Saltsburg road in Penn Hills. Formerly Flowers in the Attic. Same great menu, food and service! One addition, bigger place with incredible ambiance. Italian food at its best.

Gia Visto is a wonderful authentic Italian restaurant hidden gem of Monroeville. Gia by far is the best restaurant in Monroeville. I have been here several times and have not been disappointed once. The quality of food and the service are top notch. I found a discount coupon in one of the entertainment books and decided to give this restaurant a try. I was so pleasantly surprised and enjoyed every moment and every morsel. I love the cozy atmosphere and decor. It is also nice that they have a restroom on each side of the restaurant. Gia Visto is a BYOB and from seeing others around me, it truly is one that people appreciate and take advantage of. The cork fee is minimal, with no issue in paying it. The food is freshly prepared with personal care. Highly Recommend !! I hope they keep the word of mouth going and make this a successful restaurant, but I don't want it to get to crowded that I can't get a seat ! Gia is definitely in the restaurant rotation list, I do suggest that you make a reservation, it fills up quickly. Love this Place !!

Yesterday my friend and I came for brunch had a great time. Nice vibes. The owner/ chef was great made excellent meals for us from scratch. Start with Italian wedding soup, appetizers 1.Brushetta ricotta and spinach 2. Spinach, Roasted Tomatoes and Feta Portabello. Entrees Homemade 1. Crabcake with lemon buerre blanc, Spaghetti aglio olio and vegetables medley. 2. Crispy Eggplant Parmigiana Ricotta, fresh mozzarella, tomato-basil sauce grilled dandelion sausage, roasted pear, melted gorgonzola, balsamic. Definitely coming back for the Salmon

In their new location in Penn Hills. Food as good as always. The lamb bolognese is fabulous. The ambience in the new location is like being invited to a friend's home and dining with other guest in one of several charming dining rooms. An upgrade from the Monroeville venue. Still a BYOB! The only negative is service. One person appears to serve as hostess, waitress, sommelier and busser. Obviously in an establishment with two dining rooms, each with maybe 4 tables, she can't possibly be everywhere at once. So expect a slow drawn out dining experience. If you're in a hurry to get in and out, you should probably go elsewhere. Our waitress was efficient and worked hard at prioritizing her many tasks, delivering food while it was hot seemed high on her list, as it should be. Taking orders a bit lower in priority, seating arriving guests seemed third, and bussing tables last. We had allowed about an hour and 20 minutes there and we used all of it. Would have had dessert if we had more time. And finally, the sound level while we were there was pleasant. No problem to converse with your dining companion. A rare bonus these days.

Came here based on reviews, and found it to be nothing special. I had the wedding soup, which I think was homemade, but didn't have any noodles/pasta in it. It was like chicken soup with meat balls. Dinner was the scallops with risotto. Only 3 scallops, but it was good! My mom had an awesome salad to start, then Romano crusted chicken breast. Chicken was overcooked and dry, but the sauce was delicious. Service was good. Didn't have a reservation on a Saturday, but they seated us for a quick dinner.

The owner yelling at me charging us for a sprite, and children's fruit because they put mean on our vegetarian and vegan dishes.
    James E.

Not for vegans or vegetarians. We waited 30 minutes for bread, then my vegetarian dish that had no mention of shrimp came with shrimp on it. When I told the owner I didn't want it remade Bc I was worried about contamination they were very rude. The owner charged us for our child's fruit and drink and we left. There were some rude comments exchanged from the owner saying vegetarians do eat shrimp and it's just an oversight. Then yelled at me for making her waitress cry??? Even though no one even talked to her.... overall s horrible experience. As the only table when we got there we received no attention or hep. 0 stars

My husband and I went here for an early lunch on a Friday. I was really excited about it because of all the great reviews and the menu looked pretty good. Earlier that morning, someone in the Monroeville area had given us some lunch recommendations, and when we mentioned this place as a possibility, he said it is overpriced for what you get. We decided to check it out for ourselves. We found the restaurant in a small shopping center off of the main road. The inside was a lot smaller than I expected, however, it was nicely decorated for Christmas. We were seated right next to the window, and being that we were the first ones in the restaurant, I'm not quite sure why since it was the coldest part of the room. Our hostess/waitress was nice, however didn't quite appear ready to start the day. She wasn't sure what the soup of the day was and her conversations with the cook were clearly heard in the whole restaurant. However, she was attentive, quick to take our order and always on top of refilling our water. For my meal, I decided I had to go with an Italian dish since it was an Italian restaurant. I went with a specialty pasta: Farfalle, sweet sausage, spinach, and white beans with a splash of tomato basil sauce. The portion was perfect for lunch and the food was alright, but I felt I could make this dish at home. My husband went with an olive oil pasta with tuna and tomatoes and he felt the same way. The guy we ran into earlier in the day was correct, a tad overpriced for what you get. We did have bread and butter to start our meals, so that helped justify the lunch price. Overall, this was a nice place to try. Slightly overpriced for the quality, but service was fast, waitress was nice, and the place was beautifully decorated and clean.

Great food! Dessert was amazing! Service was fast and friendly. I enjoyed the gnocchi, it was the perfect amount of spicy.

We stopped by while walking around the Strip District looking for a quick lunch. During lunch service, you order at the kiosk, find a seat, and clean up after yourself, which makes for a casual and easy experience. Food: The tomato sauce here is probably some of the best red sauce I've had in a long time. We ordered the Caprese Panzanella, meatballs, crispy potatoes, and spaghetti with red sauce. Everything was delicious, but the salad completely stole the show for me. It was packed with fresh ingredients, bright flavors, and so many different textures that worked perfectly together. Every dish tasted fresh, simple, and executed well. Service: For lunch, you're mostly taking care of yourself, but the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming whenever we interacted with them. This is one of those places that doesn't need a long review because you really just need to try it for yourself. I'd absolutely recommend stopping by if you're visiting Pittsburgh for either lunch or dinner. Fresh ingredients, great flavors, and a fun atmosphere. Very soft, and served with quite high quality olive oil. The bottle has both olive oil and balsamic! The soup of the day was quite good as well. It was some sort of beef broth, I think may a beef and bean soup. Chickpeas in there as well. Next time, I might try the salad. The salad they have as a side is so good, an amazing portion and seems so fresh and tasty. The mains were excellent. Very good pasta with clam sauce. Lots of clam meat and a flavorful oil based sauce. My friend had some red penne with chicken and enjoyed that as well. Great portions, pretty fair prices. Finally, great drinks as well. Their menu is excellent... it's filled with so many appetizing options! We started with their stuffed peppers - OMG, EXCELLENT!! Any time I'm in the Pittsburgh area I need to try a few things, this being one of them. These were probably some of the best I've ever had! The sauce was finely ground and really flavorful. The peppers were perfectly cooked to keep their beauty and texture and they were spicy too! We also requested a large order of their table bread and asked for a side of EVOO with it. For my entrée I enjoyed their amazing Spinach Tagliatelle which came perfectly presented and tasted amazing! The spinach was perfectly cooked to the proper texture and the sauce was so good I didn't mind it having eggplant in it (which I hate). Save room for dessert, their panna cotta was great! Spoiler: it's not the name. Clean, clear, smells like any other bourbon until that first sip reveals just how perfectly blended it is. The kind of drink you savor while watching the sun set on the horizon. Crème Brûlée Espresso Martini - As my heart rate settled from the first drink I needed something to kick it back up. One sip and I could've read the dictionary cover to cover without blinking. Close your eyes and the aroma takes you straight to that first cup of coffee fresh out of the pot. Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake Martini - Beautiful presentation but flatter in flavor than the previous two. However for a final cocktail that was exactly the point -- the perfect calm down after a rich and spicy meal. - Food: 4.25 / 5 Bread, Oil & Dip: A great palate cleanser that quickly taught me the chef loves his spices. The dip was described as "Italian Hummus" and if this is the standard I completely understand the hype. Appetizer - Ceviche Peruviano: Think of that forgotten appetizer thrown together last minute for a dinner party, a hodgepodge of raw fish and vegetables. But every bite delivers an explosion of complementary flavors, and that sneaky hint of spice hiding in the raw fish bites will wake you up immediately. Pre-pasta - Tuscan Kale Salad: Needed something to cleanse my palate after the spicy ceviche and frankly I am tired of Caesar salad. Not a kale fan normally because it tastes like dirt, but the lemon vinaigrette adds just enough flavor to make that dirt genuinely enjoyable. Pasta - Cacio E Pepe: Easily the highlight. My buddy describes it perfectly as fancy fettuccine. I have never liked fettuccine until now. My server, who prepared it himself, recommended adding house chili oil for a slight kick. I went one click past recommended and even then it was still divine. I would order it again without hesitation. Entrée - Veal Chop, Lobster Tail & Vegetables (Chef's preference): After riding Cloud 9 all evening I felt like Icarus flying too close to the sun. One word: bland. The veal was overcooked with all the flavor locked into the fat, and the lobster tail tasted like a convenience store impulse buy. The best use of those bones would be soup stock. I had no desire to finish it. Dessert - Tuxedo Crème Brûlée: As much as I wanted the house raspberry tiramisu I left the choice to my server after some back and forth. He recommended this for its balance of sweetness and berry bitterness and he was right. The perfect final note to tap out on. Service: 10 / 5 Even now, I still don't think I tipped my server enough. Dining alone, he made the evening feel like I had a companion at the table. Great conversation, personalized attention, and a level of service that few will ever experience. It was a pleasure to talk to someone who knows and appreciates food as much as I do. If you want an exceptional dining experience, request AJ as your server. I promise you won't be disappointed. Vibe: 5 / 5 Presentation, presentation, presentation. That is the theme every dish and the environment itself conveys the moment you walk through the doors at Alla Famiglia. This is a place for those who want to feel bourgeois for the night. Overall 4.25 / 5: My goal in life is to become a regular somewhere. There is something special about finding a place you love so much that every visit still feels like a new experience. Alla Famiglia is exactly that type of place. During my visit I was introduced to new items and dishes not listed on the menu, which only adds to that sense of discovery. It may be a while before I return since this place isn't cheap and my restaurant bucket list is long, but I will be back. Hopefully AJ is still there when I do, because that is exactly the kind of server you want in your corner as a regular. Recommend? Absolutely

It was huge, crunchy and tasty. It made him nostalgic for the veal cutlets his grandmother used to make. The Fresh-cut Fries were good but weren't seasoned well enough. I also wish they were crunchier. We saw a man order the Stromboli and it was ginormous but looked delicious. He was a big guy and only ate about 25% of it. Got my mom a corned beef sandwich and she said it one of the best she had ever had. We're Irish and she loves them. There are lots of great things on the menu and will be back to try other things.
