What all was to be included. We had no eggplant tapenade & no dipped strawberries. Not even enough of each sandwich for all of us to try
    Alyssa A.

Alright. I wasn't going to leave a review but this has literally been irritating me since Mother's Day. My sister and I decided to treat our Mom to Gia Visto's annual "Mother's Day tea." I called weeks in advance and made a reservation for 1:45pm. It was advertised that the event would be from 11am until 3pm. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation and I went in first to check in. After standing at the counter for about 5 minutes, someone finally asked me if I was from the tea party. I said I just got here for a reservation at 1:45. Several people looked up at me from the kitchen and they all looked confused. The lady said "Oh" and came up to the counter to check the book for my reservation. A few minutes later I see someone scrambling in the dining room to set a table for us. Great, they forgot about our reservation. We were finally seated around 1:55 and were brought a pitcher of hot water for our tea. Next, we were each given a small bowl of fruit. What came out next is the part that really bothers me. The waitress brings out a 3-tiered stand with assorted "sandwiches" and pastries. It was advertised that we were to get eggplant tapenade on pita, which was nowhere to be found. Also chocolate dipped strawberries which were absent as well. We did get three tiny strawberries about the size of a quarter (maybe a little smaller, I kid you not) that had a little dollop of something in the middle. Keep in mind, we had 3 adults in our party. There were TWO of each "sandwich" so not even enough for each of us to try each one. I put sandwich in quotations because they were SO tiny you literally finished them in two bites. I understand a tea party is supposed to be finger sandwiches, but these were absolutely pathetic. Also, it was advertised as just "savory sandwiches" (I will attach a photo of the flyer). We also each received a sliver of quiche and a cinnamon roll which I will say were both good. But again, barely any quiche. It was pretty clear that they forgot about our reservation. It's like they took whatever food they had leftover and gave it to us, and there wasn't even enough for each of us to try each thing. This was our Mother's Day gift to our mom and I was extremely embarrassed. We arrived hungry and left starving. For $26/person, I expected so much more. After a tip we spent nearly $100. For pretty much nothing. I can say with certainty that this was the most disappointing dining experience I've ever had in my life. I wish the restaurant could've owned up to forgetting about our reservation and taken some time to make sure there was food for all of us, instead of serving us all of the leftovers. Needless to say we will never be dining here again.

New location 7505 Saltsburg road in Penn Hills. Formerly Flowers in the Attic. Same great menu, food and service! One addition, bigger place with incredible ambiance. Italian food at its best.

Gia Visto is a wonderful authentic Italian restaurant hidden gem of Monroeville. Gia by far is the best restaurant in Monroeville. I have been here several times and have not been disappointed once. The quality of food and the service are top notch. I found a discount coupon in one of the entertainment books and decided to give this restaurant a try. I was so pleasantly surprised and enjoyed every moment and every morsel. I love the cozy atmosphere and decor. It is also nice that they have a restroom on each side of the restaurant. Gia Visto is a BYOB and from seeing others around me, it truly is one that people appreciate and take advantage of. The cork fee is minimal, with no issue in paying it. The food is freshly prepared with personal care. Highly Recommend !! I hope they keep the word of mouth going and make this a successful restaurant, but I don't want it to get to crowded that I can't get a seat ! Gia is definitely in the restaurant rotation list, I do suggest that you make a reservation, it fills up quickly. Love this Place !!

In their new location in Penn Hills. Food as good as always. The lamb bolognese is fabulous. The ambience in the new location is like being invited to a friend's home and dining with other guest in one of several charming dining rooms. An upgrade from the Monroeville venue. Still a BYOB! The only negative is service. One person appears to serve as hostess, waitress, sommelier and busser. Obviously in an establishment with two dining rooms, each with maybe 4 tables, she can't possibly be everywhere at once. So expect a slow drawn out dining experience. If you're in a hurry to get in and out, you should probably go elsewhere. Our waitress was efficient and worked hard at prioritizing her many tasks, delivering food while it was hot seemed high on her list, as it should be. Taking orders a bit lower in priority, seating arriving guests seemed third, and bussing tables last. We had allowed about an hour and 20 minutes there and we used all of it. Would have had dessert if we had more time. And finally, the sound level while we were there was pleasant. No problem to converse with your dining companion. A rare bonus these days.

    Romano crusted chicken

Came here based on reviews, and found it to be nothing special. I had the wedding soup, which I think was homemade, but didn't have any noodles/pasta in it. It was like chicken soup with meat balls. Dinner was the scallops with risotto. Only 3 scallops, but it was good! My mom had an awesome salad to start, then Romano crusted chicken breast. Chicken was overcooked and dry, but the sauce was delicious. Service was good. Didn't have a reservation on a Saturday, but they seated us for a quick dinner.

The owner yelling at me charging us for a sprite, and children's fruit because they put mean on our vegetarian and vegan dishes.
    James E.

Not for vegans or vegetarians. We waited 30 minutes for bread, then my vegetarian dish that had no mention of shrimp came with shrimp on it. When I told the owner I didn't want it remade Bc I was worried about contamination they were very rude. The owner charged us for our child's fruit and drink and we left. There were some rude comments exchanged from the owner saying vegetarians do eat shrimp and it's just an oversight. Then yelled at me for making her waitress cry??? Even though no one even talked to her.... overall s horrible experience. As the only table when we got there we received no attention or hep. 0 stars

My husband and I went here for an early lunch on a Friday. I was really excited about it because of all the great reviews and the menu looked pretty good. Earlier that morning, someone in the Monroeville area had given us some lunch recommendations, and when we mentioned this place as a possibility, he said it is overpriced for what you get. We decided to check it out for ourselves. We found the restaurant in a small shopping center off of the main road. The inside was a lot smaller than I expected, however, it was nicely decorated for Christmas. We were seated right next to the window, and being that we were the first ones in the restaurant, I'm not quite sure why since it was the coldest part of the room. Our hostess/waitress was nice, however didn't quite appear ready to start the day. She wasn't sure what the soup of the day was and her conversations with the cook were clearly heard in the whole restaurant. However, she was attentive, quick to take our order and always on top of refilling our water. For my meal, I decided I had to go with an Italian dish since it was an Italian restaurant. I went with a specialty pasta: Farfalle, sweet sausage, spinach, and white beans with a splash of tomato basil sauce. The portion was perfect for lunch and the food was alright, but I felt I could make this dish at home. My husband went with an olive oil pasta with tuna and tomatoes and he felt the same way. The guy we ran into earlier in the day was correct, a tad overpriced for what you get. We did have bread and butter to start our meals, so that helped justify the lunch price. Overall, this was a nice place to try. Slightly overpriced for the quality, but service was fast, waitress was nice, and the place was beautifully decorated and clean.

It is a very cozy Italian restaurant that's serving homemade Italian food like your Nonna would make for you. We showed up on a Tuesday night and it was packed. It was around six or 6:30 in the evening and when we first got there, we were told it would be about a 20 minute wait before a two top was available. But the host came back and asked if we didn't mind sitting by the kitchen they could see us right away. We chose to sit by the kitchen, which honestly was probably the best option because it was actually a little bit quieter because there was a very large party that was celebrating a birthday and they had live music going on so it was hard to hear when you were in the main dining space but back by the kitchen it's a little bit quieter and we could actually hear ourselves talk. My husband got the penne with meatballs and the penny was nicely cooked with a beautiful tomato Bass sauce and the meatballs or some of the best Italian meatball he's ever had. His only complaint was that there were only two in the order and he wished there would've been three. I got the spinach and ricotta, stuffed ravioli, and by far one of the best raviolis I've ever had. The ravioli are large so there's only about five in a dish but they're packed fully and the flavoring and seasoning is absolutely spectacular. It's got a beautiful sauce like accompanies it and the chew you can definitely tell it is handmade pasta/ravioli. Our server, Emma was absolutely spectacular and was so kind. We truly enjoyed our experience here and would highly recommend anybody to check it out if you're in the area. But we also do recommend make your reservations ahead of time. Very soft, and served with quite high quality olive oil. The bottle has both olive oil and balsamic! The soup of the day was quite good as well. It was some sort of beef broth, I think may a beef and bean soup. Chickpeas in there as well. Next time, I might try the salad. The salad they have as a side is so good, an amazing portion and seems so fresh and tasty. The mains were excellent. Very good pasta with clam sauce. Lots of clam meat and a flavorful oil based sauce. My friend had some red penne with chicken and enjoyed that as well. Great portions, pretty fair prices. Finally, great drinks as well. Very memorable cherry cola that I believe the company is owned by the owner's son. Real cane sugar, very good. The cappuccino was great as well. Definitely come here!

I found it to be a glutinous mess. I'm not sure what happened in the kitchen. The mushroom side plate was under seasoned. Our friend who got the spaghetti loved it. Mushroom pasta was excellent with nicely cooked pasta and thorough mushroom taste. Our friends were very pleased with this plate. The chopped salad is perfectly dressed and is completely delicious. It was a treat. My lovely counterpart had the halibut piccata. She commented that it was "slightly overcooked." This is charitable: it was completely hammered. "It had the texture of chicken." The sauce was conspicuous by its sparsity; just not much flavor going on. She also observed that first bite was gritty, as if greens were inadequately cleaned. This dish has enormous potential, but it just wasn't delivered. This dish was palatable only by having the tomatoes on the vine as a side. My lovely counterpart on the Tomatoes on the Vine side: "I didn't love it, but it was necessary." She generally loves this sort of preparation but again, it just wasn't there. Cheesecake was great. Our server was excellent and attentive. Amanda, the assistant manager, was too busy to chat with us even though the house was mostly empty. Our table had two bottles of wine, ordered by the glass instead of by the bottle. The wine pours are staged outside of the bar, so the bartender wasn't involved. We are still at a loss to understand why Amanda was not willing to consider giving us even one of the bottles' worth at the bottle price and why she shut down our waitress when she asked. It seems like a weird hill to plant your flag on, and entirely inconsistent with our more than 30 years experience with Big Burrito. This is the first time we have experienced anything like this in a Big Burrito restaurant; truly bizarre and our poor server was clearly uncomfortable relaying the decision. We hadn't made any observations about the food to her and were having a great time even with kitchen's inconsistency. We might try again at some point: some of the dishes were great and there is clearly potential.
