Veggie Garden is one of my absolute favorite vegan Chinese spots, and it's a place we keep going back to. One of the best parts is that they can customize everything for allergies and even cater to my Jain dietary restrictions (no onions, no garlic, no potatoes). Since it's fully vegan, there's never any concern about hidden ingredients. Service is also really quick. Never keep us waiting longer. The lady out there is really sweet. I've tried a good variety of dishes here, but my favorites are: * Spring Rolls * Vegan Hunan Tofu * Vegan Orange Chicken * Gobi Manchurian * Green Thai Curry * Basil Eggplant * Basil Fried Rice I even love passion fruit juice and vegan chocolate raspberry pastry that they offer here. Got takeout from them on the weekend because we didn't want too big of a meal! We got dumplings, soup and mapo tofu. Our order was filled quickly and we were able to pick up our food on time. To me, their hot and sour soup is really delicious but definitely on the peppery side! Compared to the meat kind you get at other places, the version at Veggie Garden felt a lot less greasy in comparison. The veggie dumplings were also pretty good - I ended up putting them in the soup! Their mapo tofu was okay - maybe for this I'd prefer the meat version better. overall decent meal and would come by and try other things next time! read more

What a find! Came here with a girlfriend on Lunar New Year and enjoyed our experience. Loved the variety of vegetarian options! Scallion Pancakes - This was my friend's favorite of what we ordered and was my least favorite. I felt that it lacked scallions, but it was a good dough item to balance out the oil in the other dishes. Kimchi Fried Rice - This was good, but I'm weak to spice, so I probably wouldn't get it again. Spicy Eggplant and Tofu - This was the perfect amount of spice for me and was my favorite of what we ordered. The eggplant was perfect--not mushy like other places. String Beans - A staple order and was cooked well with just the right amount of crisp. Thai Soy Milk Tea - The soy milk tasted fresh, and the drink was lovely. At boba places, I don't typically order soy milk because the drink feels watered down--not the case here. I will order this every time I come. I presume people usually pick-up their orders so parking isn't an issue. |SERVICE| The service was odd and I've never experienced this at any other place. As previously stated, I think people tend to grab and go, and it felt like the staff did the bare minimum in serving their customers in-house. We ordered our food at the counter and ended up picking out our own seats. What really confused me was that they served our food in take-out boxes and gave us paper plates. On top of that, they gave us those cheap chopsticks that split unevenly when you break them apart. My friend said it was probably to cut down cost of hiring a dishwasher, but of course, at the cost of the environment. |FOOD & PRICE POINT| We got the jjajangmyeon, dumplings, and black pepper chicken chow mein. Everything was decently portioned, and I felt the amount was generous for the price point in today's economic times. We really enjoyed the dumplings and chow mein, but the jjajangmyeon gave me spaghetti vibes. The sauce they poured over the noodles contained carrots, peas, and a minced faux meat. I've never tried a Chinese version of jjajangmyeon (only the Korean kind), so it was interesting to try a new version. I would also say that their chow mein is more like chow fun, but nevertheless, we loved this dish. Drinks 10/10! Got Thai soy milk tea and lychee sake slush (alc) both were fantastic!! Food overall: everything was a vegan take on traditional Asian food and all was yummy. I would say though that a lot of the flavor profile was not what I expected from these dishes I grew up eating but they were still delicious in their own ways nevertheless. We got Kimchee fried rice (a little spicier than expected), scallion pancake (sooo good and crispy), black pepper chicken, wonton in chili sauce (sweeter than expected). The food was excellent, but the cost and the customer service are the reasons for the 1 star. The area likely justifies the cost, but there is no excuse for poor customer service. A dozen thanks from my end went unacknowledged with the lady who waited on us. I thought she must be having a bad day, but she was perfectly hospitable with the next table. Love that there is yet another wonderful vegan friendly Asian restaurant located in the South Bay. Veggie Garden offers a huge menu of items that primarily mimic standard Chinese-American fare, but they seem to be branching into other cuisines like Korean and Thai. Regardless of whether you are vegan or not, the food here is bomb and you're going to find something to enjoy. We ordered their "Very Garlicky Noodle," Sesame Chicken, and Happy Family (a medley of veggies and meats in their house sauce). Everything reminded me of when my parents used to run a restaurant and they'd bring home food like this for us. Only this time, everything is vegan friendly. Their Sesame Chicken was fantastically prepared - light coating with a tangy sauce and a side of broccoli. We love it when dishes give you more veggies to compensate for the processed mock meats. I also enjoyed the garlic noodles and was excited that they used thick rice noodles, when most shops use egg noodles and butter - making them not vegan. During the pandemic, they've become more no-frills mom and pop type of shop, and I am here for it. They serve everything in takeout boxes and you eat on paper plates and plastic utensils to save on costs and contact. This method does make it easy at the end to take leftovers home. I would love to come by again to try more of their dishes because what we had already was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend coming and supporting this local business if you're able. read more

Ordered Chow Fun to go and asked the person who answered the phone what they recommended. She said Black Pepper Chicken and General's Chicken, so we got the General's Chicken. The food was ready fast, like 15 minutes. It was still hot when we got back home. The Chow Fun was below average, I've had better at several places nearby. The General's Chicken was not really edible. We had one bite and said yuck. So this was our first time visiting this place. We usually don't eat vegan food, but order vegetarian dishes at other places in town. This was a major disappointment. We ended up throwing away the entire order of Genera's Chicken and ate about 70% of the Chow Fun between the both of us. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes but we won't be back. First of all, I am not vegetarian or vegan but I do enjoy trying stuff out and supporting small businesses when possible. Visiting a friend, I came across Veggie Garden. Having a vegetarian friend, I decided to try it out for lunch and it did not disappoint! I ordered through grub hub and was quoted 10-15 for pick up. Walked over and was immediacy given my Black Pepper Vegetarian Chicken with brown rice and curry vermicelli noodles. When you order, they ask if you want brown rice or a combo rice and noodles. For the Black Pepper Chicken, they also ask the degree of spiciness (mild, medium, spicy, etc.) I got medium spicy and it has a nice kick to it. The chicken does look like chicken and the taste is comparable. The vegetables included (zucchini, carrots and mushrooms) were also quite flavorful. We ordered takeouts from Veggie Garden ~2 years ago and really enjoyed their food. Most importantly, everything on the menu is vegan, which is very convenient for me, a carnivore, and my partner, a vegetarian. This holiday when we ran out of food ideas, we remembered Veggie Garden. For two people, we ordered E8 Vegetarian Generals Chicken (similar to last time), A3 Vegetarian Wonton with Chili Sauce, E32 Dry Braised String Bean and E15 Mo Po Tofu. To my disappointment, nothing was as satisfying as I expected except the Dry Braised String Bean. The wontons were tasty by themselves, but the peanut sauce was quite off-putting - too sweet and Americanized, not what I expected from its name "with chili sauce". The Mo Po Tofu was basically small tofu cubes with some vegetables (carrot cubes and green peas), seasoned with a random sweet sauce. It had nothing to do with the Mapo tofu in my understanding. Our staple - the Generals Chicken was okay. However, the sauce was still way too sweet, especially combined with the other dishes in our order. Our biggest disappointment was the spicy level. For at least two dishes, when asked for the spicy level, we selected the top spiciness. Yet none of the four dishes even had a hint of spiciness, not even the small cup of dipping chili sauce that came with the order. Price and portions were still as good as I remembered. read more

Wow! I've been eating healthier since I found out I gained (a lot) of weight on Thanksgiving, and decided to try a plant-based diet for Veganuary. I wanted to support a local business vs. veggie grill or sweetgreens so found this place thru Yelp. Thus Veggie Garden was the first restaurant I had in 2021, and might I say it is very delicious and fresh! I ordered on the phone for a black pepper "chicken", "chicken" chow fun and wonton soup. Black pepper chicken: 4.5/5 - very delicious and saucy, love the veggies included. I could tell it wasn't real chicken but the texture and flavor it absorbed from the sauce made it really tasty with steamed rice on the side. Chicken chow fun: 5/5 - I absolutely love chow fun and there's was no exception. Flavorful chow fun noodles with an array of veggies and 'chicken' - can't go wrong with this. Note that the to-go containers for both leaked thru constantly. When I got home the plastic bag was dripping sauce on the bottom (likely from the chow fun) so I had to wipe it down before we placed it on our table to eat. We couldn't finish and sauce still kept dripping no matter how many times we wiped so had to transfer to another tupperware - no big deal but just a warning to yelpers as I had dripped on my floor despite me being very meticulous with food - so had to spend time to clean, again not a huge deal because the food was good :-) Wontop soup: 4/5 - wontons was served separately with the soup which is perfect so the wonton wrappers don't get too soggy. Honestly the wontons itself was a 3/5 for me - mostly because my absolutely favorite wontons is in OC from a vegan place called hoa sen and the fillings in veggie's garden was a bit all over the place and not combined into a wonton (if that makes sense). The broth though - light but very flavorful! Glad they added some extra veggies like boiled spinach and carrots. Love the modern interior - I'm sure I'd enjoy it in restaurant whenever everything opens up again and Covid no longer exists! 4.5 stars - but raised to 5 for now ;) will definitely be back! read more

I enjoy coming here because of their food and their service. I especially appreciate the fact that they're very professional at least with my experiences here. They also offer options to go and they're pretty quick so you're in and out in roughly 15 to 20 minutes. The place is filled with natural light and it's a bright place to come and bring your whole family with you. The only rough part about coming to this place, possibly, is the fact that the parking is limited because it's such a small space that they share with other businesses. However, they are conveniently located right off of El Camino next to a larger parking lot which I am sure you can find a parking space and still make it to this restaurant. read more

For ones following plant based diets, this menu is one of the largest I've seen, and it is delightful! The menu features tastes and textures similar to many different kinds of meats - such as chicken, duck, beef, bacon - and this makes Veggie Garden unique. We tried their black pepper chicken, veggie deluxe noodle soup with added fried tofu and regular noodles, wontons with chilli sauce. In the past I have tried their Kung Pao chicken and Mapo Tofu, and I have always been impressed! I have also tried their goose appetizer along with chicken drumsticks a couple years ago but I remember being disgusted by it - maybe because I never tasted duck before and didn't know what taste they were trying to replicate. So I now stick with entrees that are vegan chicken based. I have deducted a star because they serve in to-go containers made of plastic, and serve in to-go containers while dining in as well - have you tried eating noodle soups with a flimsy plastic fork? :( I really wish they would change that, in order to avoid wastage and to give customers a better experience. Service was good - very friendly folks and provide recommendations if you have questions. Also, they have varying spice levels: mild, medium, and extra. For an Indian palate accustomed to spicy food, extra is the way to go. We tried medium and we could take more spice! All in all, vegetarian folks, this place is for you! Cute restaurant with wonderful service and good vegan/vegetarian Chinese food! I ordered their Thai iced tea that came with a soy foam and it was surprisingly very good! My partner loved their wonton with chili oil- be warned that it had peanuts in the sauce! He said it was really good but I couldn't eat it due to my allergy. Their basil chow fun was decent and their orange peel chicken was good, however my partner and I like something sweeter and tangier so we will try their normal orange chicken next time. Food is served on paper plates, so it's not a fancy spot, it's a place you go to for just plain good comfort food :). I have dined in and ordered take out and my food is always ready pretty quickly. Garlic Eggplant 魚香茄子: eggplant with tofu, bamboo shoots, red chili peppers with garlic in special sauce ($10.95). The dish was not spicy at all despite it being listed as so in the menu. Sweet & Sour VG Fish 甜酸魚: tofu skin wrapped in seaweed with fresh vegetables sautéed in sweet & sour sauce ($13.95).
