Came for breakfast during covid time. Sat outside. Uncomfortable chairs. Coffee cup is tiny so get ready to have 5 refills (and not great - half and half helped ) Omelet was delicious and chocolate chip pancakes were fabulous. Of course I added strawberries and whipped cream. Excellent service.

The rising costs of business and property values along with the current Instagram age has slowly been killing the traditional diner as most are being sold, or transformed into more upscale/trendy spots as people's taste change. It is comforting to see an old school diner such as Venus surviving, and judging by the times I have been in, thriving! The decor, the dinnerware, the silverware and probably most of the staff have not changed in decades. This place is becoming my go to for weekend breakfast when I don't feel like cooking at home, or waiting on a long line. Another plus is that Venus doesn't try to bust you out for the usual omelets, pancakes, french toast, and other breakfast fare. I probably spend about a 1/3 less than the same dishes elsewhere. There is plenty of parking here, and larger than it seems on the inside. The staff here has always been friendly and efficient. What else can I say - a good, all around diner!

The interior gives that nostalgic retro diner feel. On a Saturday afternoon, our wait was about 25-30 mins, but it flew by quickly. Thomas's is beyond generous with their portions from the egg skillets to the pancakes. Prices are extremely reasonable for the portions. And most importantly, everything here is absolutely delicious. My fiance & I ordered two orders of the blueberry pancakes, which was a mistake because of how MASSIVE each order was; we could've easily split one. We also ordered the sides of corned beef hash and ham steak. Highly highly recommend both. The corned beef hash is SO delicious & homemade, and the ham steak is huge! The staff here are really lovely and attentive. Our coffee cups never went empty. Parking is available on site, but incredibly difficult to get a spot. I wouldn't bet on parking here - be prepared to park elsewhere and walk over. Definitely our new go to diner spot!

The family that runs this…read moreplace is incredibly warm and welcoming, and you can immediately see why they have so many loyal regulars. They remember customers by name and genuinely make you feel like family. The menu is extensive, but what stood out most was the quality. The Friday shrimp bisque was creamy and loaded with baby shrimp. The chicken and waffle sliders were excellent, and the waffles were so soft and fresh that I honestly didn't even need the maple syrup. The Rise n' Shine Quesadilla was such a great modern breakfast option, packed with eggs, bacon, avocado, black beans, pico de gallo and plenty of cheese. The grilled steak panini was another standout -- the steak was cooked perfectly and was much better than what I'd normally expect from a diner panini. Of course, being at a diner, I had to try something Greek. The gyro wrap was excellent, with thinly sliced, tender and flavorful gyro meat. The biggest surprise for me was the Barolo Braised Short Ribs over whipped potatoes. The portion was huge, the short rib was fork-tender, and the quality honestly felt more like something you'd expect from a full-service restaurant. This was diner food elevated. They also make their desserts in-house downstairs. I tried the individual apple pie and strawberry cheesecake, and I loved that each one was its own little pie instead of just a slice. Both were adorable and delicious. Imperial Diner also has a full bar, curbside pickup and an outdoor patio when the weather is nice. You really don't have to be a "diner person" to enjoy this place. Between the food quality, huge variety and genuinely kind family behind it, Imperial Diner absolutely deserves to be in the conversation with the better diners on Long Island. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I tried and will definitely be back.

The restaurant was pretty empty, which we assumed was because of the holiday. We were greeted right away and seated in a booth. Personally, I found the booth to feel a little closed in, and I wish I had asked for a regular four-person table instead. Our menus and waters were brought out promptly. After ordering, my husband and I were served pickles and coleslaw. My husband enjoyed the pickles, but the coleslaw was pretty bland and dry. My husband ordered the steak panini with potato salad. He said the sandwich was good, but the steak could have used a lot more seasoning and flavor. The potato salad, however, was delicious. I ordered a panini as well. The sandwich itself was good, but it came without any mayo or other condiment, so the bread tasted a little dry. Even a bit of pesto or aioli would have made a big difference. Our 13-year-old ordered the chicken and waffles, and the portion was enormous! It came with four pieces of chicken and a huge waffle. She really enjoyed it. Our 9-year-old ordered the s'mores pancakes and absolutely loved them. They came with plenty of butter and syrup on the side. The menu advertised Jarritos sodas, but unfortunately they didn't have the flavor one of my daughters wanted, so she chose strawberry instead. My youngest ended up getting an apple juice, and I was honestly shocked when I saw it was $5.25 on the bill. Our waiter was excellent throughout the meal. He was attentive, kept our water glasses full, and made sure we had everything we needed. One disappointment was the fountain Coke. I don't drink soda very often, but every now and then I love an ice-cold fountain Coke. Unfortunately, this one was flat. The restroom was clean, but the tables felt a little sticky, and the jukebox didn't appear to be working. Overall, we had a pleasant experience thanks to the friendly service and the generous portions. There are a few things the restaurant could improve, especially with seasoning, condiments on the sandwiches, and checking things like the soda machine and table cleanliness. We'd consider coming back if we're in the area again, but we'd probably try different menu items next time.

Apollo had gluten free penne that could be used with any of the sauces they had. My friend decided to get her gluten free pasta with white clam sauce and she seemed to be satisfied. As for me I got the eggplant parmigiana that came with a side pasta and soup or salad. Portions were generous and I had enough for lunch the next day. Eggplant parmigiana was executed well with thin sliced, breadcrumb coated eggplant that was properly fried, coated with a mild marinara sauce and topped with melted cheese. Side pasta was overcooked. The red sauce was standard. The size of the plate made it difficult to mix the sauce and pasta without spilling some off of the plate. Had a sip of another friend's Bloody Mary that was decent and was spicer than others I tried. She also offered to try some of her baked clams that had a nice blend of breadcrumbs, clams and spices. I didn't get to try the buffalo burger. My friend seemed to be ok with it but not thrilled either. Service was average. The bathroom was clean but the major issue was the temperature inside which was at least 15 degrees colder than the rest of the restaurant. Not sure why that was the case.
