Of course, being at a diner, I had to try something Greek. The gyro wrap was excellent, with thinly sliced, tender and flavorful gyro meat. The biggest surprise for me was the Barolo Braised Short Ribs over whipped potatoes. The portion was huge, the short rib was fork-tender, and the quality honestly felt more like something you'd expect from a full-service restaurant. This was diner food elevated. They also make their desserts in-house downstairs. I tried the individual apple pie and strawberry cheesecake, and I loved that each one was its own little pie instead of just a slice. Both were adorable and delicious. Imperial Diner also has a full bar, curbside pickup and an outdoor patio when the weather is nice. You really don't have to be a "diner person" to enjoy this place. Between the food quality, huge variety and genuinely kind family behind it, Imperial Diner absolutely deserves to be in the conversation with the better diners on Long Island.
