New phone (Galaxy S22) receiving data from old phone. Background is the desk at which we sat with the employee.
    Chris V.

I'm happy to report that I had a very productive and successful trip here today. My dad decided that it was time to upgrade his phone, so I initially took him to the Verizon on Lake Mead in Henderson earlier in the afternoon. They were a Victra store, which is an authorized retailer. More to the point, they only had one employee trying to juggle a gaggle of customers. We then opted to try this store, which we'd passed multiple times going down Sunset over the years. It's next to Harold's Chicken, which was formerly PizzaRev. Inside, it's more official-looking and had 5 or 6 employees working, with one of them named Jake warmly greeting us. We stated our intent to upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S22 because there was a $350 discount available for it on that phone line. After accessing the account to find the offer, he told us that they only had the purple color of that phone in stock, which we okayed. He informed us that it would cost $9.72 monthly, which I did have to clarify was for 36 months and then calculated out to equal the correct post-discount price. He also charged us an upfront cost which comprised the sales tax (pre-discount) and a $35 upgrade fee, and he provided us with the printed receipt. Now for the buried lede: after he activated the new phone, we also requested that he transfer contacts/photos/texts/etc. from the old phone to the new phone. Jake was extremely helpful working the old phone screen, which had suffered water damage to the screen. However, he was able to play around with it and get the transfer going via the Samsung Smart Switch app. He was going to charge $30 for the service, but he ended up waiving the fee because the transfer was taking a long time and the store was closing soon. This felt like an above and beyond moment. He also helped us with some account changes. We inquired about the unlimited data plans and decided to upgrade to the least costly "Unlimited Welcome" plan after he said that it'd only be $5 more monthly. We also asked where the paperless billing statements were being sent. He was able to show us the email address, as well as change the email address to a preferred alternative. Overall, it was a far better experience than we'd feared. I'm so glad that there's a viable in-person Verizon option considering that Costco has abandoned their old wireless service third-party retailer and the local warehouse only offers T-Mobile.

    Clearly there was a promotion!

I was not enthusiastic but I wanted him to feel good and how bad could it be? Why do I continue to challenge the universe to show me its bottom? The coverage was awful which led me to look at the email confirmations from the store at which point I discovered that they had misrepresented every aspect of the deal-- which they suddenly refer to as "an estimate." Despite seeking to cancel for sound basis and within the first 24 hours, we have been run around town "you need a corporate store!" (It is a corporate store) "manager will be in at __" "nope! Manager will be in at __" "only manager can waive the restocking fee" "only customer care can waive the restocking fee" the restocking fee is because the phone can't be resold because you opened the box." Etc etc yadda yadda... Selection? They had very little. Value? That's a negative. "The first bill is always twice as much" (the monthly bill we would end up with is much higher than we had agreed to in the contract, the first bill was to be more than twice.) Then they used "per diem" in a way that indicated that they had no actual definition. Honestly I feel as if we should have walked out when another set of potential customers threatened to kill a salesperson and then left. They had been on the phone waiting for customer service and the call was dropped. They might have been there for hours. One walked up to the salesperson who was working on them and told him. He was playing on his phone and continued to play on his phone but also started laughing. The manager went in the back and hid In the end a regular employee was able to waive half the restocking fee and refund some of the tax paid on the returned phone. That was the first and only honest employee.

I went to Cox expecting to have to buy a replacement, but Genesis explained my options and showed me that I could use a modem through Cox for only a $15 monthly fee until I was able to get a new one. What impressed me the most was how she took the time to review my account and show me ways I could actually save money. She explained everything clearly and demonstrated the changes in a way that was easy to understand. She was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely focused on helping me find the best solution. Customer service like this is rare, and Genesis is a great example of what outstanding service should look like. I truly appreciate the time and effort she put into helping me today.

So you know what everyone dealing with them that is more than F***ing frustrated! with Cox do get name badges get confirmation numbers and do know they "keep notes" on what they wish to say regarding the situation so you do the same :) ask for a "recap" on agreement go as far as even asking to see the profile if you go to actual location and if you choose to go by their word expect you may get disappointed after. For example the notes when I called the number of the main actual co. you will find on your bill they noted: I declined tech insurance well NO! the employee never mentioned anything about an tech fee so I was charged $100 for a tech coming out. I followed all the directions on the phone I watched the tech I did everything as I was directed to do by phone so yup games! they could have tuned it on that day but why should they when playing dumb is best and charging me $100 for 5 min of a tech coming out is best? Also do know when you call the number from your previous bill they quote different price points then when you actually go to the store nothing is consistent! so you know what since they wasted my time I think people should know get details don't EVER! take any employees word for it at the end of they day they or course are suppose to smile and be nice they just want to get through the day and sugar coat you. They are two stars for a reason :)

Yes, we're old people who want to actually see the phone before purchasing. I know it's usually done online now but we thought coming into the store would allow us to actually handle the phones, like you were able to literally less than 5 years ago. This is not the case. Those bad boys are mounted to the wall. We didn't have the best experience walking in. I understand why they have someone that catches you when you walk in and checks you in but it's not practical when multiple people are walking in at the same time. The person checking in was busy with someone, so we walked in and started looking at phones. When she was done with that person, another walked in, so we didn't check with her yet again. We lost 3 positions because of this and by the time she came over to us, there were 8 people ahead of us and the wait time was estimated at 1.5-2 hours. Thankfully, most of the people ahead of us had simple tasks so our long wait turned into about 15 min not 1 hour. We were able to choose the phone and get it set up pretty quickly. However, again, while we waited for the data to transfer, our technician started helping someone else so we ended up waiting over half an hour for him to finish with that person, even though we were done and ready to leave. I get that most people do things online now but this walk away from face to face service is a little annoying. It was funny that two days later, we received a kit in the mail to send in his old phone, the one that we waited 30 min for the tech to grab while he was helping someone else...

THE SETUP I was satisfied with Visible at $30/month with excellent coverage. AT&T's Black Friday promotion showed iPhone 17 Pro Max with trade-in. I told sales agent Andria multiple times: I will ONLY switch if this exact upgrade processes. I had no reason to switch otherwise. WHAT ANDRIA BUILT IN MY CART (NOVEMBER 30TH) This was a completed shopping cart in AT&T's system: iPhone 17 Pro Max Silver 256GB: $23.61/mo after bill credits iPhone SE (2020) trade-in: $350 value (calculated with my IMEI) AT&T Next Up Anytime: $10/mo for upgrading 3x per year Sales tax charged: $100.50 for the phone Order Number: 56-723000055691157 Cart stated: "OFFER APPLIED: You're getting up to $350 off with elig. trade-in on installment. Credits start within 3 bills." Andria had me apply for the AT&T Citi credit card for additional savings. I now have a credit inquiry for a deal AT&T claims never existed. WHAT ANDRIA CONFIRMED IN WRITING "We have successfully ported the line and added the device. Order Number: 56-723000055691157. Once the device is shipped you will get tracking information via email." She walked me through disabling Visible and told me to ignore activation warnings. I asked her to confirm multiple times. She confirmed everything. Based on her documented statements, I ported my number and activated AT&T. THREE WEEKS LATER - THE SCAM No phone. I contacted AT&T with the order number. Agent Tristan: "There's no order for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. You just brought your own device." I sent cart screenshots, order number, and Andria's confirmations. Same agent: "I apologize on behalf of the last representative. This is misinformation." Then reversed: "The promotions discussed were true, however there's no process for the upgrade that initiated." Supervisor Roel reviewed everything and transferred me to "Customer Loyalty" - corporate speak for "we're caught." Agent Arabel Jane after 30 minutes: "Your device is not eligible to be traded in." AT&T's cart calculated my iPhone SE trade-in at $350 using my IMEI. Andria confirmed it. Now it's "ineligible"? Her solution: 50% off one bill "as an exception" - admitting fault while refusing accountability. THE FINANCIAL DAMAGE Visible: $30/month, better reception AT&T: $107.86/month, worse connection 259% price increase for inferior service Phone received: Nothing Sales tax paid: $100.50 for "non-existent" phone Credit inquiry for fraudulent promotion WHY THIS IS SYSTEMATIC FRAUD AT&T's process: Build cart with trade-in generate order number charge sales tax confirm "device added" have customer apply for credit card secure port. After port: "No order exists" "Device ineligible" contradictory excuses token credit. Three agents, three lies: "No order" / "Misinformation" / "Device ineligible." They can't all be true. WHAT THIS COST ME Lost Black Friday deals from other carriers while waiting. $934/year more for worse service. Credit inquiry for fraud. Weeks fighting contradictory excuses. Andria built a complete order, generated order number, confirmed everything, had me deactivate Visible, had me apply for their credit card - all while AT&T would deny it once they had my port. That's not error. That's trained fraud. THE EVIDENCE I HAVE Complete cart screenshot with all details. Order 56-723000055691157. Chat transcript: "successfully ported line and added device." Trade-in calculated with my IMEI. $100.50 sales tax charge. AT&T Citi card application. Three transcripts showing contradictory denials. FOR POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS AT&T will show pricing, calculate trade-in, generate order numbers, charge sales tax, have you apply for their credit card, give written confirmations - then deny everything after getting your port. Current customers: compare your cart screenshots to actual bills. Many of you were likely scammed too. ACTIONS TAKEN FCC complaint being filed. BBB complaint being filed. Charges being disputed. Porting back to Visible. Posting everywhere. AT&T: Order 56-723000055691157 exists in your system. You charged me $100.50 sales tax. Andria confirmed "device added." Explain why. I paid sales tax for a phone you claim was never ordered. I have a credit inquiry for a promotion you deny existed. I'm paying 259% more for worse service. Andria scammed me. AT&T trained her. You'll do it to others too. Order #56-723000055691157. Your fraud is documented.
