Service was ok, But the food was definitely not what I was expecting from a well establish Tex Mex restaurant in the area. The staff was eager and professional, but the food left a lot to be desired. Bland with not one dish that stood out flavor wise. We ordered an appetizer platter to try a variety of items, and ended up sending it back. The quesadilla had raw spinach inside, as if it was just leafy lettuce... not sautéd or blanched. Not a great combination when added to something that is meant to be eaten warm. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce, poured right out of the can. What a disappointment. I would describe the ambiance as quiet and quaint, but way too dark to be enjoyed. I could barely see what was brought out to eat without flashing my phone light on the dishes. OMG, this is how I will describe this hidden gem. We visited for the first time for my daughter 45th birthday, the ambiance was nice, the owner Fran stopped by with such a welcoming spirit. Our waiter Orlando was so nice and attention, not to mention everything everyone ordered was Good. Delicious . The reason for the 4 star's is because I order came really late. One of our guests ordered their food when they arrived late and received it before us, we had ordered 30 minutes before she arrived. However management made it right with the Tequila Shits. Wow! Had no idea this place existed until we met some friends here to eat before a concert at the Toyota Music Factory. I would describe it as high end Mexican, with a menu that ranges anywhere from simple tacos, to fancy steaks that are brought to the table flaming! It has valet parking and reservations are recommended. The wine list is extensive and so is the menu. I had the tacos and they were excellent. A decent amount of food for a fancy restaurant and of course there are the chips and salsa if you are needing something to round out the meal. Well, we were staying at the Four Seasons for a business meeting and got tired of the Law restaurant, the hotel concern after a night. Headed over here. Made the mistake of walking out the front drive (no sidewalk) and up the boulevard (hi speed, tiny sidewalk) and meandered until we found this place. HOT TIP: walk out the side entrance (near the Pavilion) and then it turns a 10 minute walk into a 2 minute walk, and much safer. Anyway, the food: great. I had the seasonal special: bacon wrapped shrimp with a fantastic glaze, my wife had the surf and turf, also wonderful. A minor deal: the crawfish polenta - merely 'ok.' Everything else, really great. Service was attentive and just-right. We sat down at 530, the place was getting busy around 6. Nice quiet atmosphere, a nice find for our visit to Dallas. We return yearly for our Anniversary, this Restuarant is special to us because we had our reception in the Santa Fe room. As we celebrated this year we had another perfect night. We enjoyed the queso appetizer, Filet Mignon with golden potatoes, asparagus / tomatoes, Enchilada place with chicken, and the chocolate raspberry cake for dessert. We also ordered white moscato wine and Bud Light - served prompt and cold. Everyone from the hostess to the server made or night special. Including a special piece of chocolate that read, "Happy Anniversary," across our cake. The sentimentality, the food, the people, the ambiance, the whole experience was perfection. Top shelf! The ambiance is classy, but in a comfortable way. Our serve Roque was so welcoming and hospitable. All the staff were so friendly. The food was outstanding, you can taste the freshness. My wife had their pecan crusted Chilean sea bass and LOVED it. I went Tex Mex with the Tacos de Res and it was a winner. We came to celebrate our anniversary and they took care of the desserts! If you are in the DFW area it would be worth the drive if you not only want great food but a dining experience Via Reál is your place. We live in Alaska and will recommend this to my in-laws. I went here for a business lunch today, and it was overall a good experience. The ambiance is nice and quiet, while still being a little bit bustling, which is a good sign of a healthy restaurant with consistent business. I had the Chicken Monterey, which was pretty good. The chicken was well-cooked and juicy, and the rice and sauce were awesome. I could have used a bit more spice on the chicken and in the spinach, but that's more of a personal preference. I will say that the description said it was melted goat cheese on top, but it appeared to be more of a monterey jack cheese. I would have preferred the stronger taste and lighter texture of goat cheese. My business associate had one of the daily specials, which was their beef tenderloin burrito and a fish enchilada with rice and beans. She seemed to really enjoy her meal as well. We saved room for dessert, and I got the bread pudding and she got the creme brulee. The bread pudding was tasty, with bits of chocolate, raisins, and pineapple inside to keep it moist. The ice cream on top was an absolute dream, I could have eaten a dish of that and been happy, lol. Only issue with the pudding was that it was a little burnt on the edges, but that does happen sometimes and I wasn't too fussed about it. The brulee had a nice crisp top on it, and looked creamy and delicious. My only real complaint for our visit was that our waiter was...odd. My associate compared him to the butler from the Adam Sandler version of Mr. Deeds, and I have to agree! He would sneak up on us and suddenly start talking, it was startling to say the least. He apparently started talking in Spanish to my associate before I got there, which is strange since she is not Hispanic and gave no indication she spoke the language. She knows enough to figure out what he was saying, and responded in English, and he took the hint. He just seemed super awkward, and honestly wasn't very attentive. We had to pretty much physically detain him in order to get to-go boxes and to ask about dessert. I then had to waive down the manager in order to get our dessert boxed up when we were finished. The manager was lovely, I'm glad she was out and about checking on the tables, or we might have been there another 15 minutes on top of the hour and a half it had already taken! To sum up, it was good food, nice ambiance, but the waiter needed work. I probably would go there for another business lunch, but I would hesitate to go there on my own time. read more

From walking into this gorgeous restaurant for Sunday brunch yesterday to being seated, it is absolutely breathtaking. Orlando was our superb and friendly server who was so attentive to us in every way. The endless menu selections make it difficult to decide! From the salads, the shrimp, the chips and salsa to the omelette station and the freshly cut tenderloin, it was amazing. So many choices of Mexican dishes. My favorites were the eggs Benedict, blue cheese crisp salad, fresh shrimp in shells of freshness, lemon trout, crisp bacon and the cheesecakes were fabulous. The waffles looked delish. Beverage choice of mimosas or pointsettias was fun! Pointsettias was our very good choice (cranberry and champagne) and a Jack Daniel's for our male counterpart. Great food, great company and great atmosphere wrapped up our perfect Sunday brunch. Our good friend Joan has been a regular here since 1989 and couldn't wait to share it with her out of town friends! Attended a large group dinner for work. We had a separate room. Service was immaculate as they slyly refilled our margs without any interruption( nice! And...thanks!) and all the servers and bussers were impeccable. It was our first time here. It's tucked away but a very awesome ambiance. You can hear and talk in a comfortable manner. The owner came by and greeted and chatted with us making it very personal. Our waitstaff was awesome. Katrina was our waitress, if you can sit in her section do! We had the tentacion and it was yummy...the sear and seasoning on the steak was superb. I went to Via Real with friends for a business lunch. They advised Via Real is a Las Colinas institution and based on atmosphere, service level and food quality, I can see why. The food was DELICIOUS and the pricing was beyond reasonable. I selected the Via Real chicken salad - tender grilled chicken, greens, homemade croutons, tomatoes and creamy cilantro dressing. That plus the light-as-air chips and spicy salsa made for a filling lunch. Service really is on point. Attentive without being overbearing. Just the way I like it. Would I go back to Via Real? There wasn't much special about this restaurant. We came here with a group last minute when a different restaurant didn't work out for us. We called them about 15 minutes prior to arriving to let them know we had a large group coming in and they seated us immediately upon arrival. We were seated in a private area which was nice. The food is definitely on the pricier side. The service was good, and the waiter was friendly - sometimes it was too much when he would keep trying to up sell us different drinks. None of us were big on drinking so nobody was interested in trying the drinks but he still continued to try throughout dinner, which made it a little uncomfortable. The food was good but nothing that made me feel the need to come back or recommend. I had the enchiladas and some others had different steaks and fajitas. Not many were impressed by their food. All my visits to Via Reál have been for lunch. On each occasion the service has been outstanding. Upon reaching the front door there is always someone present to greet me along with opening the door. Once inside I've never had to wait more than 3-5 minutes for a table. And once seated the server is almost immediately present to greet me, take my drink order and serve fresh chips and salsa. NOTE: the chips and salsa here are addictive (then it could just be me). My go to meal here is the Grilled Vegetable Salad. It's a tossed fresh green salad with grilled vegetables on it (with a choice of grilled chicken, or beef) and served with a fresh House Basil Vinaigrette dressing. I've had it with the grilled chicken and on occasion I'll get it with grilled shrimp or salmon. It's always delicious and nutritional. I highly recommend this entree. On my most recent visit I went with a lunch special and had the blackened tilapia tacos. It came with 2 tacos, sliced avocado and a side of rice. It was extremely flavorful and very filling. I came here for a work function one evening, and the ambience is very modern. This is a good place for a date or an evening out with friends for happy hour. I will warn you though, if you order the large margarita, it is the size of your head!!! The chips and salsa were good. I ordered the shredded beef tacos on corn, and the beef was flavored really well. A coworker ordered the coconut shrimp, and I actually liked it better than my tacos.
