    Kids portion of chicken Parmesan
    Khushboo S.

Via Roma was perfect for my hubby's birthday celebration. It was almost after 4 years that we visited this restaurant again and we loved it. Food was delicious. We ordered bruschetta for appetizer, kids portion of chicken Parmesan, penne with chicken and mixed seafood pasta. Everything came out perfectly. I got my Seafood pasta in garlic sauce, it was delicious and seafood was fresh and tender. I loved how calamari was in my pasta - not overly chewy at all. Chicken in both my husbands and kids meal was cooked perfectly and was flavorful. Our server was wonderful and surprised us with a cake to celebrate the birthday. Such a sweet gesture.

This place is great! It is a small restaurant, but for me that means it is more intimate. The service is always top notch and the people are friendly! The food, as at any Conte restaurant, is incredible! I went and got their gnocchi which was light and fluffy with a vodka sauce and TONS of fresh mozzerrella cheese. Their tiramisu is also probably the best in the city! You must try it. Parking can be a challenge, my recommendation is just to park in the parking deck and walk. It's about 5 minutes, but the parking deck is free too.

The most tender steak I've had in awhile. Let me go back to the beginning. We had such a fantastic waitress (Amy). She was super helpful and attentive but not hovering. Support staff was great too. Our table got crumbed! You know the little crumb tool to clean up your mess. I hardly ever see that in Charlotte. What a very nice touch. Ok back to the food. Great pasta, great sauces, great veg, great apps, bread, desserts, and vino. Everything was great. What else is there to say? [[HIGHLIGHT]]Atmosphere was dark but not too dark. Relaxing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only negative thing I can say is that the tomatoes in the bruschetta should have been room temp not cold. I wonder if that is a safety rule. Anyway, we can't to go back!

Mare. But the seafood tasted rubbery as they were over cooked!

Via Roma is not for me. It's not worth my money and time. I was excited to try the Mare; the presentation appeared well. But, alas, it was too salty, and the squid rings and shrimp were overcooked and tasted rubbery. My husband's pollo parmigiana was soggy, and the cheese was partially melted. The inside of the restaurant's acoustics is poor, making the sound of table conversations amplified and loud. As for service, it was lacking. It took over 10 min for someone to take our order, and as we ate, no one even came at all to check and refill our drinks. As I observed, the staff were focused and distracted by the larger parties. Overall, it was not a positive experience for me.

We decided to come here on a whim for an improptu date night and the food was good. They gave us bread and beans, but I wasn't a fan of the bread on its own. With the beans it was great, but without, the bread had no flavor. We started with caprese and it was really good. The mozzarella was so fresh however, it came with arugula instead of basil, which was good, but I prefer caprese with basil. My entree was gigli. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The flavors went together but it lacked and little bit of... punch in the flavor department. Nonetheless, the portion of pasta to shrimp and vegetables was really good. I feel like a lot of times when you order a pasta dish it's like 90% pasta with only 10% of any of the extras, and this was not the case here. My hubby had pollo alla parmigiana with a side of pasta and it tasted amazing! If I came back here I'd probably switch my order to this because it was bursting with flavor. The first thing they asked us when we walked in was if we had a reservation, which, we didn't. We came early enough that there was space at the bar and the high tops that were near and that's where they directed us to. I was actually happy about that because this is a nice restaurant with table clothes and a fancy vibe, and we were not totally dressed for that. Either way, overall, dinner was good.

Amazing service that's hard to come by in this area. The food was so flavorful! The Mare was full of delicious seafood. Our 13 year old said the meatballs were the best she's ever had. Lasagna, chicken Parmesan and the tagliatelle were all hits with the family. And I can't stop thinking about the tiramisu! I can't wait to go back (after we eat all the leftovers we brought home)!

Special entree - braised beef in tomato based sauce and homemade pasta
    Jill H.

We had quite the sampling of food - and all was absolutely wonderful! We started with a Burrata and Bruschetta at our table for four. Each of us enjoyed our be very filling pasta entrees following - especially my choice of a braised beef speciality pasta that evening. We didn't have a reservation and was sat at a table oddly positioned near a kiosk and in eye shot of the bathroom. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived for dinner just before 6 but did fill up with larger parties and reservations throughout our time there. I'd recommend to plan ahead if you're going for a special occasion so that you don't get sat in the back 4.

My favourite place! I can't count the how many times I've been here. Food every time is delicious! Definitely recommend this restaurant!

I am staying at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn and decided to try this restaurant based on reviews and pictures. I was very disappointed. I ordered a Caesar salad and veal marsala. The salad was super spicey and had too much pepper. This is very unusual. The Veal Marsala had very little taste. This was the worst marsala sauce that i ever had. It was very watery and had no taste. The service was good but they put me at the only 2 person table and it rocked.

Full house on a Wednesday night! We were welcomed by friendly server but I would only give 4 out of 5 for the service - they were somehow rushing us (maybe want to be ready for the next round of guests?) which made us feel a little uncomfortable. Gilgi, the shrimp pasta, was pretty good. Soft crab, as daily catch, was carefully seasoned and worth trying. The price is a little bit on the higher end though.

It was super busy, so I believe that a reservation is needed for the weekend, especially for larger groups. The vibe is a bit darker and moodier but with natural lighting- perfect for a date night but not limited to that. The espresso martinis, cocktails, beer, and mocktails were all delicious. They have amazing espresso martinis and aperol spritzes. The only dishes that I tried included the white truffle garlic bread, Sunday night lasagna, and the hot honey prosciutto pizza. Everything was delicious. A special shoutout to the Sunday night lasagna - WOW it was perfect. I'm usually not a huge lasagna person, but this changed that. I would 100% recommend this. Since we were celebrating my birthday with our parents, they were kind enough to give me a free dessert. I chose the salted caramel budino, and it was amazing. I would definitely recommend this as a dessert. Overall, we had a great experience! I would definitely come back.

Between the warm lightening, rich red accents, and modern décor, the restaurant feels both romantic and inviting. It has a cozy upscale vibe that's perfect for date night, dinner with friends, or celebrating something special. There are also plenty of cute spots throughout the restaurant if you're someone who loves taking photos before dinner. Even on a busy evening, we were able to get seated right away, which was greatly appreciated. We decided to share a few appetizers before our pizza, and it was the perfect way to experience several dishes. We started with Italian Meatballs served over creamy polenta with rustic marinara and Grana Padano. The marinara was rich and comforting, while the creamy polenta balanced everything beautifully. The meatballs themselves had great flavor, although they leaned just slightly on the drier side. They were still delicious and definitely worth ordering. The standout appetizer for me was the Wild Shrimp Scampi. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, tender, and incredibly flavorful. The garlic confit, herb butter, blistered tomatoes, and Grana Padano created a rich, buttery sauce that was impossible not to soak up with the garlic bread. Speaking of the bread, it was fresh, crispy around the edges, soft in the center, and paired perfectly with every last bit of the sauce. For our main course, we shared the Hot Honey & Smoked Prosciutto Pizza with scamorza, speck, Calabrian honey, arugula, and Pecorino Toscano. This pizza was so good. The crust had that perfect wood-fired texture, crispy on the outside while staying soft and chewy inside. The smoky prosciutto, peppery arugula, creamy cheese, and sweet heat from the Calabrian honey created an amazing combination of flavors. My only tiny suggestion would be adding just a little more hot honey because it was so delicious that I wanted even more of that sweet and spicy finish. Otherwise, I'd order this pizza again without hesitation. To finish the meal, we shared the Tiramisu, made with espresso-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone mousse. It was light, creamy, crunchy, and not overly sweet. The espresso flavor came through beautifully without overpowering the dessert, making it the perfect ending to the meal. Our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. She wasn't constantly checking in, which we actually appreciated, but she always seemed to appear whenever we needed something, whether it was refilling our drinks or checking on the next course. The service felt relaxed without ever feeling inattentive. Overall, everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. From the handmade sauces to the quality ingredients, the meal really felt like authentic Italian cooking. It was also a nice touch to see the chefs in the kitchen preparing our meals! There are so many other pastas, pizzas, and wines on the menu that I'd love to come back and try next time. North Italia earned a spot on my list of restaurants in Charlotte and I'll absolutely be back!

Forgot to take photos of the bread because I was too busy enjoying it. Oops! We ordered meatballs as an app, and I had the lasagna for my entree. Both were pretty good, though I wish the lasagna had a bit more of a "noodle-y" bite to it, if that makes sense. I felt like I was just eating a bowl of cheese and sauce. The ratio of noodles to cheese and sauce didn't feel balanced, and felt more like lasagna soup, but overall, it was decent. I think I'd try something different next time. My husband had the mussels and said they were okay- basically mussels and tomato sauce. I moved here from up north 25 years ago and growing up I. The northeast sets the bar pretty high in terms of pizza. Portifino's is great. The sauce is sweet and portioned perfectly. The cheese is nice and salty, so you actually taste it. The toppings are flavorful, and again, well proportioned. My favorite is the Caprice which comes with tomato, fresh mozzarella, olive oil and fresh basil. It's amazing. The pasta dishes are excellent. I'd recommend the linguini with clam sauce and throw in some shrimp and broccoli for good measure. The Calzones are HUGE. I get mine with Mushroom, sausage, pepperoni and black olives.
