I have been getting my nails done here for over 5 years! The nail services are top tier! I have asked for many difficult designs and the nail artists have nailed them every time! They are a very sweet group of nail techs and always create an enjoyable atmosphere with clients. They took forever to even ask what I was there for, then proceeded to give me the worst nails I've gotten. I asked for vanilla chrome and got chunky, could have been shaped better, barely sparkly, not even enough to qualify it as chrome nails that look like blobs on my nail. I went here because a bunch of friends suggested it, but needless to say I will not be going back.

I keep coming back to Victorian Nails on El Cajon Boulevard solely because of the amazing lady's that make the place so wonderful, and I couldn't be more pleased with each reoccurring visit. The salon offers an extensive nail art accessory selection and Tina is always adding to the variety of the latest trendy products with their unique variety of embellishments or different nail polish offerings. Tina (the owner) and Jasmine are true professionals with remarkable skill in nail design. Their attention to detail and creativity are evident in their work, and they ensure that each client leaves satisfied. Tina exceeds my expectations every time in whatever design I throw her way. Jasmine impresses me with her precision in prepping my nails and filing the shape to perfection! The salon offers a wide range of services, including manicures, pedicures, gel nails, gel-X, acrylics, and nail art. I came in for a pedicure with existing gel polish on my toenails. Instead of properly soaking and removing the gel with the foil/removal method, the technician immediately began using the nail grinder on my nails. I told her multiple times that she was hurting me. When I looked down, my toenails had been grinded down so thin that they were cracking and breaking. I then noticed the same damage had already been done to several of my other toe nails as well. I brought this to the manager's attention, and the response I received was simply a smile and "sorry." No effort was made to properly address the situation or correct the damage. I left with my nails painfully over-filed, damaged, and unfinished. This was completely unacceptable and I will not be returning. I just got off work. Now I have to go trace down a nail shop at 4:45pm. Ridiculous. read more

Tina always takes the time & truly helps me get exactly what I want for my nails every single time. Highly recommend! Been with Tina for over a year now and will not go anywhere else because of it! If you live near college area this is best place to go! She will accommodate anytime if you message/call her in advance!! These are my real nails FYI! complete chop shop. I got a full set done in like 15 minutes- looks like shit and just low quality materials. It's clear nobody working there cares at all about their customers, just how many nails they can get done quickly. I will not be returning. I unfortunately got a pedicure here as well, they barely trimmed my nails and didn't do any other nail or foot care whatsoever. This is a bare bones, low quality nail salon. read more

I try to refrain from writing reviews but this place is horrible. To start I called and made an appointment, I sat there for 40 minutes waiting for Someone to see me. Finally, it was my turn. The lady who helped me yanked my hands was so aggressive and rude the entire time honestly making me so uncomfortable. Finally the manicure is over, I pay in cash ($60, I asked for $10 back my manicure total was $40 and I gave her a $10 tip) she chased me out of the salon and started screaming at me that I didn't tip her enough?!? On her horrible service I tipped her 25%, it was unprofessional, unacceptable, and outrageous behavior. After all of this I go home and my nails look horrible, within a day they are all chipped and peeling, on a gel X set?? I have never experienced or heard of this before in my life. read more

This place fucking sucks. Don't even bother to go, every single time i've been they overbook and it takes 40 minutes to get what you came in for. Even though you made an appointment. I don't know how they manage to overbook the place every single day. I would give it 0 stars if I could. I'm pissed, so ridiculous and not worth your money or time. I've been going to this nail solan for years! I've never had a bad experience and recommend them to anyone living around the area. Prices are very reasonable and they do a good job and making sure your set always looks great. They have parking so you don't need to worry about street parking, which is always a plus for me. Tina knows what she is doing and will make sure you are happy with the service. read more

I would definitely recommend Tina! She has been my nail tech for the last 4-5 years now! Her shop is very clean and chic, and all her techs are very sweet. I'm big on hygiene and sanitation. I always recommend her to all of my friends and colleagues because I know that she'll never disappoint! Go on her instagram and look at her many designs. She does it all! Nails are not the only service she provides. Make sure you set an appointment with her and you'll love your nail read more

I have been going here for a long time, before they changed locations. I am very picky about nails and all of the technicians here do a great job for an excellent price, particularly Tina. She does a full set faster and better than anyone! Honestly, with her skill and steadiness of hand, she could be making a lot of money diffusing bombs or something , but she chooses to do the girlies a favor and stick with nails and eyelashes. Yes, they do eyelashes here too! They are super inexpensive but great quality. Overall love this place and couldn't recommend it more. Another thing- I bite my nails and I don't like when nail techs point it out and they never do that here read more

Update: March, 2020! So I've been coming here since 7 months ago with Tina and she has never been anything less than extremely accommodating and kind! Today, I called at 5:30 pm (1 1/2 hours before closing) to see if maybe she could squeeze me in - I'm going out of town this weekend and wanted to hopefully get my acrylics filled. I would have been totally fine and okay had she said it was too last minute or to come in another day. She told me to come in at 6:40 and I felt SO BAD because I knew we'd go over 7:00 but I did my best to come in early, follow instructions, etc. etc. Not once did she complain or seem to rush through my nails just so she could go home. She took her time and shaped/painted my nails carefully while making conversation and I ended up finishing around 7:30 (I chose a single color w/ no design bc I also felt bad haha) LOVE HER! The other ladies at the salon are also extremely sweet and love to make you feel welcome so you can become a regular (I've met several regulars during my 7 months of going here). Overall, my point is - Tina's great, the whole staff is sweet, and they never make you feel unwelcome. read more

The ladies there are soo friendly and so easy to talk to! I feel so comfortable talking to them and they're pretty flexible with how you want your nails done. Tina helped me pick out the color and I absolutely love it. This is my first time trying dipping powder and I was definitely not disappointed. I love how my nails turned out! Prices for nails in San Diego have been climbing so much but this place keeps it affordable! I've been coming here for the past 4 months and have been happy with the services. I get a fill and a gel pedicure and the cost stays around 65-80 dollars total depending on if you add on a design or treatment. They do a decent job! There are some times where they could be better but for the price it's worth giving it a try. The owner does the fills the best for sure. read more

I love Victorian nails and they just relocated to the nicest cleanest new spot. It just opened back up and is the closest nail spot to SDSU campus with reasonable prices for college students. I have been going here since I was a freshman in college so for 3 years and they can do all types of designs. Just got these done and I am obsessed! read more

I recently had a not-so-spectacular experience here and I had updated my review to reflect it, and now I'm updating it again because as soon as the owner Tina saw my new review, she called me and asked when I was free so I could come in for her to fix my nails. Tina and her staff truly want their customers to be happy with their nails and I know what happened last time was a miscommunication. Tina went above and beyond, in my opinion, and she more than made up for my previous experience. I don't usually go to nail salons because in the past i've seen they don't properly clean their supplies but I really needed my nails done so i decided to give this place a try. I noticed while being there that they didn't wash their supplies after working on the previous client. It's been about a week & a half and i removed my nails to see that I have fungus on two of my nails. You get fungus from reusing supplies without cleaning them so I'm very upset. Also, when I went all my nails were different shape, uneven and just horrible. Be careful when going here! read more

I live right by SDSU and didn't even realize this salon was so close to me! It is very professional and COVID cautious. The owner is the sweetest lady, super friendly and accommodating. She is super time-efficient, I got a full set and a pedicure and was done in about an hour. Victorian Nails has some of the best prices I have ever seen. I will definitely be returning! read more

I guess she assumed I had gel on my toenails? I paid for the pamper me pedi, but it felt very basic. The pedicure itself was sloppy. My daughter's pedicure was good. However her manicure chipped in a day. I get that regular polish chips much more quickly than gel, but if they only want to work with gel polish, then they shouldn't offer regular polish. I was disappointed in the end. It felt like we were being penalized for not getting gel. Even though we had an appointment, I felt like we were in the way. I'm so sad, I really thought I had found my nail shop.

Typically, my mani and pedi are done simultaneously by two different ladies. However, I noticed that only one lady was working on me while 4 others just paced around and chatted with each other. What could have been a 40 minute visit took twice as long. $65 also felt excessive for regular polish, I've gotten gel polish for that amount at other salons. Customer service was also meh - she seemed annoyed when I asked to swap out the color after testing it on one nail and didn't recommend any additional services like at other salons. What was even more frustrating was that by the evening three of my nails were already chipped! Will not be returning, don't recommend!

I went in for a classic pedicure and asked for her to file my nails and change the color, that's it! The technician was nice so I feel bad leaving this review, but the way she removed the gel from my toes was awful! She filed it down, put acetone and let it sit for a bit. Then she proceeded to peel off the old gel and tore the corner of my nail OFF. She then proceeded to say I had thin nails! I've been getting gel pedicures for a while now and NEVER has anyone tore a piece of my nail OFF! As a technician, even if my nail was thin she could of used a machine to remove the gel instead of tearing it off the way she did. I was so upset! She tried to tell me she would add a piece, which I declined so I just told her to cut what she could without leaving my nail too short. I will never return here. Maybe some folks like this method of removal but I did not and will not be returning for a pedicure. I will add the chairs were comfortable and I also got a gel manicure which he added so many layers too! There was one lady too that came by and was just talking to the technician who did my nails and the vibe just felt uncomfortable! I will never return!

If this is how repeat customers are treated over the phone it's clear long term business isn't a priority. They've lost a customer and I won't be recommending this place to anyone.

When my nail technician completed my manicure, she announced, "same!" as if she declared out-loud my powdered pearlescent nails are now magically transformed into the requested nude chrome color. I wish they would've told me upfront that this cannot be done. I would not request for anything out of the basic mani pedi here.

Its been a good week. Almost all the places I've been to this last few fays have been amazing. This place included. So I called earlier knowing I would be in the area, and not wanting to hear a "we are sorry we can't take you its too late". I asked if they would be available around 715. They simply said see you then . So I had a hard time finding it. (FYI its eight accros the street from CVS ) From the moment I walked in I knew I'd be I'm good hands. They are beyond friendly and hospitable. I choose my color and then sat down. The lady (Ann for short. She had a long name and I'm not sure how to spell it) was super nice and friendly. I love how much attention to detail they have. The owner asked me if I wanted manicure too. I said sure ( might as well right ?) I had never ever ever been so relaxed while getting a Mani pedi. I almost fell asleep. All there movements where effortless and they handled me like if I was a porcelain doll. I think I finally found THE PLACE I will get my nails done. I had had favorites and places I thought had either one thing or the other. Yet I hadn't found the place that had it all ( great service. The little liners in the tubs. Attention to detail and fast service.) Oh and they are so reasonably priced. I spent $15 bucks less than I normally do including tip. I was the last customer of the day ( felt kind of bad that I was holding everyone back from leaving) yet Ann was so sweet she even gave me a hug. I don't know but there is something about this place that made it extra special. I will make the 20-30 min drive from now on. Let's keep fingers crossed that it stays this good read more

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. I went here one time 2 years ago with my daughter and their was a sweet lady that did my daughter's facial waxing and nails. My daughter said she went their every month to see her. all of a sudden, the lady was no longer there. I went there a couple of days ago with my daughter and the man who owns it now is the RUDEST OWNER I'VE EVER MET OF ANY BUSINESS. you can't understand a word he is saying, he yells at his customers, and he does an AWFUL job at waxing and nails and wears the stupidest little heels that are annoying. He waxed my eyebrows and lip, and he BURNT MY LIP. I always get my face waxed and have never gotten burnt. This happened because as he was waxing my lip, he left the wax on my lip for like 2 minutes, and he left and began talking to another customer that had walked in. he returned and then removed the wax, but the damage was already done. He did acrylics on my daughter, and he was so rough with her hands that it was very offputting and disturbing. I went back the day after to get a refund on my burnt lip ( I was mainly pissed because I got waxed for pictures to be taken), and he gave me my $5 back and sassily pointed his finger at me and said "ok I give you back your money but you dont come back here again." THE RUDEST, MOST SHOCKING THING I'VE EVER HEARD FROM AN OWNER. Also the salon is disgusting and dirty and smells bad. I wish i could give this place 0 stars. Rate them 5 fucking stars! Stupid ass gay guy fucked my nails up. First off he ripped it off made me bleed then when he does my new set you can straight see the blood. So I said re do it that's gross. He said I will fix I fix later. So what's he do he tries to use white regular nail polish to paint over it bet yet you can still see it. So I said put rhinestones on it to cover it up but he couldn't even understand me smh ! Then when he filed my nails he gets my skin more than even my damn nail rubbing my skin irritating it to the fullest . Never go here! Ever since the old owners left & this guy took over it sucks!!!! Worst experience yet! Don't even deserve a star! -5 stars is what this guy gets !! read more

Ever since new management this has been my go to nail salon! I had come here with the man as a manager and agree that it WAS awful. But it has now become my favorite salon! It is super convenient for college students and I love being able to walk here during my breaks to get a nice acrylic set! Tina the owner is amazing and always makes my nails exactly the way I want them. The pedicurist is amazingly sweet and always does a phenomenal job on my feet. I come here every two weeks for my fill in and pedicure and never fail to leave with great nails in a timely manner. Highly recommend for students and anyone around the SDSU area! I got my nails and toes done at this store this morning. My nails looked so clean and beautiful. I recognized that the man who messed my nails up last time moved. Luckily, he doesn't work their anymore so I can continue to come there next time. The location is very convenient for me to walk in, and the employees work so amazing. the old owner was very bad. he didn't know anything about serviced. and he ignored everyone. but now i'm happy to tell you guy that he left and they have the new owner. they really nice and did a good job. my girlfriend came here last week and she was happy after doing nail and waxing here. she told me that she will be back. i recommend you guy come here because the prices are fair and you don't have to worry about the bad service anymore. read more

I am beyond picky about getting my nails done because not everyone takes their time to perfect the shape. I went today to get a full set done with Tina and she was amazing. I showed her a picture of what I wanted told her exactly what I wanted she simply listened and perfected my nails. Another plus is that there prices are amazing!
