The dry cleaning was fine, expensive but fine. I have an issue with the customer service. If you have patrons in line, assist patrons in the order of the line. I was ahead in line when a lady came from behind me and started asking questions. The woman who was checking me out, stop to assist her. Her time isn't more valuable than my time. A good, no-frills, convenient cleaners place closeby. We take our clothes here for tailoring and dry cleaning and they do a decent job. Their pricing is not very consistent though... they quoted me $20 to dry clean a gown but then upon picking up and paying they charged me $25. Another time they quoted me $20 for shoe repair for my Birkenstocks, but charged me $60, which I was able to get down to $40 instead... I've had a slight snafu for said Birkenstocks repair. I told them I only wanted the heel fixed as it has been worn down, which Victor, the owner, quoted me $20 for a pair to be done. I come back in a week, but my shoes were still not repaired because the cobbler had been sick. That's fine, I come back a week later and to end up getting a bill for $60 because they replaced the WHOLE sole.. I mean I guess that's fine, but $60 was overpriced AND they replaced it with a brown sole instead of black for black sandals... I requested it to be repaired in black because I'm paying $60 and Victor luckily was able to work it out with the cobbler to get it replaced with a black sole and ended up charging me $40; definitely more reasonable for replacing soles for a pair of Birkenstocks. My only worry is that I know there are authorized Birkenstock shoe repairs out there so I'm not sure if the guy who did it was one of them... they feel fine now and I'm glad I was able to get back my beloved Birks! Anyway, I'm all about supporting local businesses and Victor and his wife are both very nice. Their dog Valentino is super cute too and drools happily on you, hehe. To sum it up, to get Birkenstocks resoled they're $40 here -- which is reasonable, considering most places charge $50-ish and you have to pay for shipping. read more

I've been dropping off my personal clothing and all the clothes I rent for Warner Bros, Universal, ABC, Disney etc...for TV, Film, Commercial and print. I've been a customer for 20 years. They have never screwed up any of my orders. Also I know for a fact I'm doing over $100,000 a year in cleaning. No such thing as a perfect business. They're is such thing as people who will never be satisfied no matter what and will write 15 paragraphs complaining about how horrible a business is. Don't believe the haters. I went back at 2:30pm and another guy said it was not done yet, it was still just hanging on a rack untouched. I was pretty irritated, not his fault, I blame the earlier person at the desk. I brought two pieces in for alterations and made it clear I needed them by Wednesday for a trip. He agreed to have them ready by Tuesday. I showed up Tuesday at 6:30pm, and they were closed (hours did not match website). Showed up next day at 5:55pm (sign on the door said 6pm closing), and they were closed, but were still in the parking lot. They opened up to retrieve my pieces, and they hadn't even touched them yet (mind you they were due the day before), so they were not ready for my trip. Just glad it wasn't something like a tux for a wedding. So in conclusion, if you need anything on any kind of committed timeline, or a cleaner that actually honors their published hours, do not go here. Just not reliable. read more

OMG this is the WORST place I have ever been too!!! It was like being in a David Lynch movie. If anyone has good things to say about this place--they are either crazy or have just been lucky. Ok--where do I begin here. 1--I stopped by originally and spoke to the older man who I presume to be Victor--I told him how I had a VERY high-end designer (Helmut Lang) jacket that many dry cleaners didn't want to clean because it is a linen type of fabric with leather embedded in the collar. He said, "Bring it by let me take a look and I will let you know". 2--I returned the next day with my jacket, he took a look and said "Wow--very nice jacket". "Expensive". I said "Yes--it's Helmut Lang". "Can you clean it?" He studies it carefully and says "yes". "Maybe we just spot clean." I said--"That's fine w me." --he then said to come back in an hour--but I told him I would just come back the next day. I thought--ok, one hour--they were just going to spot clean. 3--I actually didn't get to come back (it isn't that close to my house) until 5 days later. So you can imagine, my shock when the stocky woman with the ponytail and Southern accent looked up my account and said--"oh it will be ready tomorrow, the tailor needs to attach the collar". I stood there in shock and said "What do you mean?" "No, no, that must be a mistake. "It was supposed to be ready last week--I have a photoshoot first thing in the morning and have to have my jacket, now." She then went to the back again and then said oh yes, it will be right out. I was mixed up. 4--Victor then appears and says--we need to reattach the collar, we removed it to clean the jacket. "I can have it ready tomorrow." Again--shocked and kind of freaking out that they REMOVED the collar (which was the main part of the design of the entire jacket, without even calling to ask me if they had my permission--AND he originally said "one hour" and I gave them FIVE DAYS! 5--I started really getting upset and said "no, no no I have to have my jacket NOW. He said, "give us one hour." So I waited there while his tailor reattached my collar. 6--After an hour, he handed me my jacket. The collar was attached, but something looked different. So I asked him...."is this the way it was?" He insisted "Yes, yes--as he nodded." I said again--"you're sure?" Again he was very confident and said "Yes". But it still didn't seem quite right to me---so I went to my car w the jacket (after paying him) and frantically scrolled through all of my photos and video. And I found a video I had done wearing the jacket and you could clearly see that the way they had reattached was nothing like the original Helmut Lang design. They sewed it on by stitching in it a large backward J and the original Helmut Lang design of it was a delicate stitching in a long V that outlined the leather withing the collar. Why they would take the collar off without asking permission and then NOT take a photo so they could put it back exactly as it was---is just another bizarre lack of competence. 7--After I confronted them with the video and photos Victor just looked at it blankly. No apologies or reasons why I had been lied to over and over and over and over. 8---He said "Pick it up tomorrow." I said, "I can't, I need it first thing in the morning." So reluctantly they agreed to fix it right then and there and I said I would return in a couple of hours before they closed for the day. And I gave them the photos to fix it right. 9---When I returned --after having to cancel dinner plans w a friend to deal with this 3 ring circus. Victor was not there---at this point they had had my jacket for 5 days and I had had to wait in person on this day one hour to then get it back--not as a Helmut Lang design--but the design of his tailor. THEN had to still go back hours later to finally retrieve it. To say the experience was stressful is an understatement. I trusted these people with the NICEST jack I own. I wanted to get my jacket and leave. This is when the larger lady w the ponytail appeared and was very casually folding someone else's order. They invited me to come into the shop and look at my jacket---the stitching was still not right--and this woman said it was because their machines only do larger stitches and there was no way to match the stitching perfectly. She also said the never do spot cleaning--then she tells me in a snarky way--"I think he did a great job considering the circumstances". I said--"I'm not sure what you mean by that?" She says---"Your being ridiculous." Me!? The customer who trusted you guys w a Helmut Lang jacket that you gave me back re-designed by your alteration person???? I think at this point I don't even need to say that if I could sue them--I WOULD. This place is beyond HORRIBLE in every way possible. read more

I really wanted Victor's to be our neighborhood cleaners. They seem like great people with a long standing neighborhood presence and I am sure they have great qualities. Unfortunately, I have to beg everyone that takes their garments here to take heed: you run the risk of them completely ruining your clothes!! I went twice and each time dropped of cleaning for both my boyfriend's work shirts and pants and my fine garments. (silk blouses, designer shirts) Both times when I inspected the clothes when I got home we noticed that things were damaged. It was clear that they washed, not dry cleaned, my bf's shirt with mixed colors. His blue shirt looked yellow and it was thread bare along the seams when we got it back, not how we dropped it off. My clothes looked like they were about to fall apart and one of my shirts was frayed along the seams. If you care about your clothes, don't take them here. Maybe they are fine with wash and fold but I personally would not risk it. What's worse - they are EXORBITANT. They don't post pricing online so it was hard for us to compare against other cleaners when we were selecting a cleaner upon moving here, but trust me, I was shocked. One of my blouses cost $11 to clean, and there was nothing special about it. We got gauged. We now use Plaza cleaners nearby and have been very happy so far. read more

Where do I begin? Since I moved to Santa Monica I've been wanting to find my go to dry cleaners and after a yelp search I found that Victor's cleaners just happen to be a block away from mine. I've come here for dry cleaning and every time I've come for alterations they could never get if quite right but I shut my mouth because I didn't really want to have to search for another spot that wasn't super close. The most recent incident has been lasting over 3 weeks for a shirt that was supposed to have been altered within 3 days... I went to pick it up and the guy lost my my clothes then tells me things will he ready in an hour. I said I'll come back tomorrow when I have more time I go back two days later and both shirts were dry cleaned but not altered when only one shirt was supposed to be dry cleaned. Same thing come back tomorrow. I go back a few days later the guy says it was never altered because he didn't know how I wanted to shirt altered. What?? This makes no sense when he's the one that had a marker and made lines on the shirt of where I wanted them tailored also what upset me is if you have an issue with an item and not sure what the costumes what's why not them me?? I live a 3 minute walk away from the cleaners. Yesterday I come by to pick things up and it's still not the right measurements I talked to the lady and dropped off more things to be altered because I want to support a local business as well. She told me she'll take care of everything. I go back the next day to pick up everything assuming everything right as I'm paying she says the total which is over $100 for 4 items, mind you earlier that day I came by to pay for a few items so I was confused and she wasn't able to give me an itemized receipt so I said ok ill run home and grab the receipt because I have to use the restroom badly & don't have time to go back and forth. She says you can't take the clothes because you didn't pay for it I said well of course, I kept on the shirt that was dry cleaned when I was trying it on since im planning to pay & leave anyways... this lady says to me "don't try to pull a fast one on me" excuse me??? How will I try to pull a fast one on you when I live a block away, I've been there several times and you have all of my information on file? You see a young black guy and you dare say this? They've taken 3 weeks to alter one shirt and I'm trying to pull a fast one?? While I'm taking off the shirt in the dressing room she brings the dog to the front like im going to attack her. Victor has acknowledged that they put holes in my expensive, tailored suit dress & suit coat. He offered a credit. However, instead of issuing a credit, I saw they put the pending charges through. It is also in writing that I did not authorize them to tailor a white dress until they telephoned me to let me know if the stains had come out of it during the dry cleaning. Theresa did not telephone at the time she said she would. Instead, she had the tailoring then telephoned it had been done. I said not to do this since the dress stains easily though I had only worn it once for a few hours sitting in a hotel lounge. After dropping off my clothes, I held back from the order an Oscar de la Renta set. I saw I had accidentally left the top that goes under the sweater, which goes with the skirt, at home. I had been sold this set as a three-piece set. I wanted them kept together so I could get on a plane to go to my law school reunion the evening after the day Theresa said my clothes would be ready for pickup. However, instead, I was yelled at & kept waiting while Theresa insisted that entire ticket be redone. She insisted that the same tags & color on the three pieces & the exact same, distinct fabric & pattern on the sweater set demonstrated these were not & could not be a set so she refused to keep them together. She stepped very close to my face & loudly told me to leave. Then she & her staff person roughly tossed my clothes around while loudly going on about how this was not a set. Once I picked up my clothes the next evening, they insisted everything was there though they had not brought out my red, silk dress & I spoke to them about the holes in my suit dress & suit coat. Theresa stepped very close to my face in an unsettling manner again & said not to ever step foot in there again. I took my clothes as quickly as I could. Since there was so much clothing, many of them heavy wool, my clothes repeatedly fell on the ground while I was trying to carry many heavy clothes as quickly to put distance between myself & her strange, hostile inappropriateness. Indeed, my red dress had not been brought out to me though they had insisted they had brought everything out, & the heavy, wool coat I had just paid to have dry cleaned was stained. I had to take off work to go back the next day to get my dress. During that trip there, Victor acknowledged my suit & coat had not had holes in it the day I had brought them & that they had been the ones that put them in there. Theresa had said the evening before once I saw them that I could not wear them anymore. It would not make sense for me to dry clean a suit that had holes in it to take to my law school reunion. I had checked each piece myself before coming to drop them off & done so together with them since I had intended to pack them once I picked them up to take to my law school reunion. They have missed stains before so they tagged stains in those other items that had them & I had inquired if they'd come out since it did not make sense to intend to pack them or have them cleaned if a stain would not come out. This particular suit had been pristine. I had only worn it once for about a couple hours since it had last been cleaned. Before I had dropped off any of these clothes, since it was my first time doing so in years & I had hoped to ensure they would be ready for my trip, Theresa had said she understood how I was going to head to my law school reunion & she would take care of everything. I had thought to pay their high prices since she said they were going to take high quality care of my clothes with no hassles while I was preparing to go to my flight the evening after picking them up. Instead, I had to go back & ended up missing my flight. The first time I had ever come here, they charged very high prices to repair a similar hole a different dry cleaner had put in a very expensive, tailored suit. They had not repaired it entirely. I have not worn that suit since. They kept the high amount of money since they tried & the hole is a little less noticeable. That other dry cleaner had admitted it & credited me so I could get it repaired. Therefore, the solution Victor offered of him repairing it is not a solution as they know since they had been unable to repair the similar hole in another suit I paid a lot of money for them to. Theresa also said the evening I came to pick up my clothes that he & they are unable to. Theresa does not understand too how inappropriate it is to speak loudly with hostility in the faces of her customers in such an aggressive, strange manner while saying nonsensical statements, such that I do not feel safe going there again. The review I have since seen of her yelling at an employee for not ticketing clothes as she likes is similar to what she was doing, throwing my clothes around yelling at her staff person insisting my set had not been a set. I took a few things in to get altered incisions a gown for a wedding that was that week Friday night. They say it would be ready on Thursday. I worked late and couldn't go get it. So I went on Friday. I went around 1pm. I paid $136 I believe. I came home and my dress wasn't altered as I had asked. It was still very loose. I wanted it tight. The person who sewed it didnt do it correctly. I called and got the worst service ever. They didn't have any seamstress on staff on a FRIDAY!!! And she said sorry you can come another day? I said the wedding is tonight. She said too bad!! I just paid them $136 for a job they didn't even do right. Don't go go there! They aren't worth giving your money to! Learn some customer service skills. To add to this.. as I keep trying the dress on. The top is so tight I can't been wear it. Basically they shortened too much and didn't tighten enough. What a horrible mess. Now I'm stuck weeding a dress that I'm uncomfortable in. I don't think I can wear this all night. Bottom line they need ore efficient staff. Victor has repaired all my sweaters at some point because of damage from moths & snags. He's fixed shoes that no one else could fix. He completely SALVAGED my favorite 12-year old coat that I can't live without. Always very happy with the work. It's always done very quickly as well. I don't know how he does it! I made a major mistake of trying another leather tailor in Hollywood. I recently got a killer vintage 70s-style leather jacket that fit perfectly except for the sides; they needed to get taken in. So, I took it to Tailor-Who-Shall-Remain-Unnamed last Monday because he came highly recommended. He promised me a 1-week turn-around. I drove during my lunch break on a busy day through nasty L.A. freeway and surface street traffic to get to Tailor-Who-Shall-Remain-Unnamed on the promised pick-up day. He hadn't even looked at it. When I understandably got mad, he said, "Don't get upset." Don't get upset? Really? I had every f'ing reason to be angry. I took back my jacket and drove straight to Victor. He sized me up quickly and said that it would be done the following day. Indeed, it was ready today as Victor promised. And, it fits so beautifully now. He saved my ass, too, because it's windy and cold today, and I forgot to bring a jacket. Victor, I will never betray you again! read more

Wow. This is how you lose business. And you can tell this place is struggling. I visited, taking a chance, to get a pair of pants altered. The moment I parked, a stringy-haired woman with a southern accent began banging on the window, yelling at me to move my car. She then proceeded to take photos of my car, giving my the middle finger, and calling me all sorts of profanities. I rolled my window down to see what the commotion was about, and when asked if I am a customer, I told her I was, but not now with how she was behaving. She then proceeded to call me scum, a m*ther-f*cker, and all sorts of real disrespectful things - I have the entire thing on video as well. She then asked me for PROOF that I had something to drop off...so I produced the proof she asked for *shrug*. Needless to say, I stopped by to drop off a pair of pants and will never, ever, come to this place again. I've been here twice. The fist time was to have 2 jackets dry cleaned. I went to pick them up (as scheduled) and they couldn't find them. I had a meeting in 2 hours and freaked out on them. They eventually found them and they had been dry cleaned; however, all the buttons were scuffed and broken.... ALL of them. My second attempt was an alteration of 3 pairs of jeans. This time I gave them 3 days (as agreed). When I went to retrieve them, THEY COULDN'T FIND THEM! Once found, they hadn't been worked on at all. They said they would have them done in an hour. Well, if you could have done them in an hour why did I wait 3 days? Can't recommend this place. There are a lot of options, find some place else. read more

Victors is the best! I work in a restaurant on the promenade and need shirts cleaned for work. Sometimes they'll have dried wine, coke, marinara and/or some other offender and sometimes from a Friday shift that doesn't make it to Victors until Monday. I've never been disappointed. My wife and I took my tux, her dress, and multiple vests, shirts and slacks here for our wedding and other events before and after. Victor and his wife have a really great neighborhood business vibe, very pleasant to interact with them when I bring my clothes etc. They did a great job altering a pair of expensive leather boots that were too loose fitting around the calf too. Often he's there after hours or will turn things around fast if you need it. I'd trust them to alter anything and not screw it up. The cleaning job isn't bad but not great either. My cotton or similar fabrics look a bit beat up after a couple cleans. Really, the only bad part is that Victor's is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. It's just retarded. I want my clothes coming back looking NEWER if i pay that much, for crying out loud. No, i don't want to go to a cut rate smelly chemical grody joint but Victor is just out of control. Owner Victor is the best! I brought him a suit that needed several alterations at 10:00AM Weds morning. No line, no waiting, free parking! I tried the suit on for him, we chatted for 20 seconds. He told me to come back at 4PM to pick it up. I thought he was joking. I came back at 4PM, tried it on and thought it was perfect. He said "let me press it once more". The charge was really reasonable. The service was perfect. He been in the same location for 25 years and really knows what he's doing. read more

I've been using Victor for my dry cleaning for the past 2 years, and have only experienced the most 5 star service. I pick up and drop off my clothes roughly 1-2x per week. Their customer service is fabulous, the returns are always on time, and any time I've encountered a broken button Victor takes care of it right away. Finding a dry cleaning shop with this precision for detail is tough. When I first moved to LA, I bounced around dry cleaners with poor results until I tried Victor's. Reactivated my account after a few years to warn against this business... Dropped off a pair of jeans to be hemmed with Victor on Wednesday morning. He said it would be ready by 2 PM. When I came by at 5 PM he couldn't find find my order using my phone number. On Friday it couldn't be found in their system using the ticket either. Spoke to an employee this time who was much more helpful who went looking and found my jeans in a corner on the floor. The employee got the job done, and it was ready on Saturday as promised. Reading some of the other reviews on here it seems like this kind of thing happens fairly regularly. I'm usually not very picky, but this was a production sample from my company that is unique and somewhat valuable. The price was also completely over the top, so avoid this place if at all possible! read more

Victor is great! I've taken him a couple of my higher end suits to tailor over the last couple years. I just called him to see if I could get the pockets on a couple suit jackets opened up and he said no problem and no charge! I was surprised because it's not like he knew I was an existing customer. I just brought my jackets in and he opened the pockets in about 2 minutes. Got me my jackets back immediately and didn't charge me a dime. That's great service if I've ever seen it. Good service deserves a good review. Bad service likewise deserves a bad review. However, NO SERVICE beckons my slandering. Here's what happened - I dropped off my dress pants at Victor's on a whim to try out a new dry cleaning spot. My regular dry cleaners is much farther away. I wrote down my name and telephone number, and I was given a claim ticket. I was told that my pants would be ready by the next day at 2 PM. I didn't go the next day, I went two days later to pick up my pants. I gave them my claim ticket, and they couldn't find me in the system. They asked what I got dry cleaned, I told them, they had no clue where to find them. The girl who was helping me called the owner (Victor) and he also had no answer. She asked if I could wait 10 min for Victor to come in. HELL TO THE NO. I had to go behind the counter, and finally found my pants amidst a pile of other black dress pants, and found that they weren't even dry cleaned. EPIC FAIL VICTOR, EPIC FAIL. How difficult is it to develop an efficient system for dropping off and picking up dry cleaning? Not difficult at all, VICTOR. I then took my pants to my go-to dry cleaners who will not lose my pants and will dry clean and have them ready by tomorrow as promised. I would not suggest Victor's to anyone. OVERCHARGED AND ALTERATIONS NOT MADE. I took two tops in to have the straps shortened and minor alterations. Before I left I asked Victor how much it would be. He told me he'd call me with the price. No call so I went to pick them up. I was shocked at how much he charge. I'm sure he intentionally didn't tell me the price because he knew I'd go somewhere else. To make a bad thing worse two of the requested alterations weren't even done or were done wrong. Really? When I went back, Victor offered to make them right "at no charge". What? If you go here get a quote on paper of DO NOT have them alter your clothes. I was over charged by almost $100 for suit pants. I was told on the phone "Victor if very flexible, he will charge you one price one day and the next time you come in he will charge you another price" when trying to reconcile my bill with his wife after they forgot to charge me... The work he did was good, however, I would not suggest this place. Save the headache and go somewhere else! Many other great spots. Lesson learned, ALWAYS GET A WRITTEN QUOTE! read more

I've been living in Santa Monica for about 2 years and started taking my dry cleaning to Victor's because his business was in a convenient location. He's always taken good care of my items and is always able to have a very quick turn-around time (sometimes the same day, for 4 dress shirts). I've been used dry cleaners in many different places across the US, and, while the prices are more than what I paid in Kansas City and some other places, I have to say that the quality and service are worth a little extra. $5 for a pressed and cleaned shirt is pretty reasonable for me. read more
