Excellent drip coffee. I also tried the house made honey syrup and the honey cinnamon whip! They were perfect and I would recommend them in a latte or even an Americano. The bakery items were pretty standard, run of the mill options. Great for a grab and go or just to snack while chilling in the shop. They had a few shop items, including a chemex set. And overall the staff were quiet, polite and fast! Zero wait for my coffee, which was shocking on a Sunday less than 2 blocks from Pike Market! read more

The lavender chai was very sweet and that says a lot coming from someone who prefers their drinks on the sweeter side. The matcha was very grassy. The cardamom latte was my favorite drink from this shop. Great place to hang out or work from. read more

I got a $10 iced oat matcha latte. Besides being one of the most expensive I've seen, it did not taste like matcha AT ALL. I straight up tasted just 100% oat milk. Like I was drinking old cereal milk. Come on guys! I don't drink coffee so I can't speak on their coffee, but do not get matcha here unless you want to be sad and angry walking down the street. read more

The local coffee spot that we frequent was about to close, so we decided to finally give Seattle Coffee Works a try. We bypassed this place so many times because I was under the impression that it just wasn't unique, or good coffee. Admittedly, I was wrong. Just their drip coffee that was probably made a few hours ago, was really good! Roasted and brewed just right. Didn't taste over (or under) extracted. Besides the typical coffees/ lattes/ cappuccino options you can find in a good coffee spot, there are also plenty of tea choices and small pastries available here. This place is cute, spacious yet cozy, warm, and perfect to get in a nice warm drink just steps away from the famous Pike's Market. Highly recommend stopping by if you're ever in need of a quick cup. read more

stopped in here really quick to get a quick breather and also to use the restroom. I got an iced Matcha and it was so good. I think it's genuinely authentic because I think I saw her using a whisk. I don't really know, but it tasted like not just powder. Service was super quick and friendly. The shop has a really cute like coffee shop ambience. Everything is also super clean and the chairs and tables are well spaced out. Definitely will check this place out again! read more

Walking around pike place, I was in desperate need of a latte and this place delivered! I ordered an iced latte and it was exactly what you need from an iced latte, I was very happy with it. Seattle Coffee Works was a convenient cafe to pick up a quick coffee that wasn't Starbucks in the Pike Place Area. They have a HUGE space just a block up the hill from the market with plenty of tables and seats. I got an oatmilk chai which was pretty good. I would say that it was a little more on the spiced side of the chai spectrum - I typically prefer my chai lattes to be somewhere in the middle or a bit on the sweet side. Nonetheless, the baristas were super friendly and really quick with my order. read more

Not a cozy coffee shop, but it's located in a convenient location only like a couple block away from Pike Place and most of the hotels in downtown. Their cappuccino is good. I'd recommend quick grab and go for this place. They don't have much pastries or food here, so I'd recommend going to Fresh Flours, Mr. West, or Starbucks Reserve if you want some good pastries. The service was neutral. Not super friendly, no dogs allowed, but you get your coffee quick. So that's not a problem most of the time. read more

We came here on our way to pikes market because the Starbucks line was out the door. Glad we did because the coffee was brewed well per my husband. One caveat of this place is they only take credit card but also accept apple and android pay too I believe. I ordered the matcha latte and it was half sweetened but next time I think I will do full sweet as the matcha taste was strong. Lots of little tables to sit for a while before heading out and being a tourist. Glad I stopped by! Next time I'll try a pastry and a chai latte! read more

Located by pike place, I've been on this coffee hunt for a while now. Ambiance wasn't touristy at 7am, but it's def not hipster modern. THE COFFEE: Sad to say the light roast was too acidic for my liking, Cappuccino was foamed well though ALT MILKS: oat available but $1 extra --- TLDR: Many different ways to make coffee here, strong competing cafes with smoother coffee IMO at lower prices (ever so slightly) read more

Upon arriving to Seattle, this was the first coffee place my husband and I tried. The vanilla latte is classic, well balanced and never disappoints. The harvest moon cold brew is delicious. Their coffee does not disappoint, strong coffee with the right flavor and a good mug to have it right. Baristas and people taking orders were friendly. The atmosphere is so nice and they have a sign stating they have a craft night where you can come crochet, knit, or do some other small craft and chat together..... Location is pretty good it's very close to Pike Place market. May be a little bit dicey or than the market area due to there being a lot of trash and homeless people. As well as a lot of flies. Literally flies flying in your face right before you walk in the door. Really don't care about all that because hey we are in Seattle. Service was decent but one of the baristas was a little choppy. Honestly I came to Seattle for the best coffee in the world and I have been drinking some of the best coffee in the world. This is not the best in the world not even close to good coffee. There is plenty of seating and the vibe is pretty cool everybody seems to be enjoying themselves. I just truly cannot even finish this cup. I don't like this coffee. read more

First time I got to chill at a coffee shop at the Slow Bar. Never knew this type of chill coffee space existed. And truly a friendly place to ask about their beans and have conversations with the baristas Sure it's 2pm and no one is lining up like a stale Starbucks, but that's bc they are working well as a team. It's so chill here. Wish I could hand around all day, but I the food offerings from Pikes place are calling me. Bathrooms are dirty. Floor was wet, seat covers strewn over the back of the seat and there was no paper towels to dry my hands. But luckily this is a coffee shop otherwise I would be questioning the cleanliness of the food. I'm not sure why this place is so well rated. The seating is not comfortable and it doesn't feel like the kind of place you would sit and chat with a friend. It's more like a tourist trap being so close to Pike Place. My cappuccino was also subpar. Since this place roasts their own beans I expected better but the espresso part of my drink had too much acidity. The foam was wet with large air bubbles and lacked sweetness. I would rather get coffee from Starbucks then come back here again. read more

Pre-gaming a brunch with friends, I stopped in here for a coffee and some wifi. Neat little spot, comfy tables and the wifi worked well. Coffee? My latte was excellent. Rich coffee, excellent firm foam and simply delicious. Great to get a good cup of caffeine and not be at the *$ people. Seattle Coffee Works is just up the street from Pike Public market. read more

I LOVE the coffee here. It's a bit more expensive than average for Seattle - but I love how they have stories of the farmers who grow their beans around the shop. Makes the extra dollar worth it! I got their rose cardamom latte and it was delicious. It had a very delicate flavor that didn't overpower the coffee. The service was very good and friendly. Only docking a star because the space itself could be a little better in my opinion. They had some machine that was very loud and made it hard to enjoy the atmosphere and the decor was not as fun and trendy as a lot of the local shops. read more

Last time "here" was when it was across the street. They still have awesome coffee and quick, friendly service, but now they also appear to have a bit more customer space. On a Wednesday afternoon after Xmas we got a latte and a cappuccino to stay and snagged one of 11 tables. It's a decent place to chill, work, or read. read more

Victrola Coffee is great. We couldn't wake up with hotel coffee. So we walked around and found Victrola. Great house blend that day. It was a Vietnam coffee. It was great you don't need anything in your coffee it was that good. My wife got the pumpkin bread and she said it was great. We both sipped our coffee and just smiled. read more

Hot cider is back for the fall. Ask for it without the cinnamon on top (it overwhelms your taste buds). Lots of sweet treats and market Greek yogurt without the line this is a nice place to stop and get away from the market crowds without going far. The staff are always polite and helpful and they only serve beans roasted in the last week from sustainable farmers. Worth a stop. No frills. read more

Specialties

We make coffee. Not coffee with expensive machines but real coffee with tried and true methods of extraction: a traditional espresso maker, a vacuum pot, a press pot, a Chemex, a Melitta drip filter, even an aeropress. We roast all of our coffees, and most of our coffees are fair-trade and organic, and more and more of our coffees are direct-trade. All this combines to make us into a coffee tasting room, and many of our customers love hanging long after the first tasting experience.

History

Established in 2006.

In the fall of 2006, we opened our first store in a t-shirt shop on Pike Street in downtown Seattle. The beginnings were modest. We had our grand opening on Memorial Day in 2007. In the spring of 2008, we started roasting our own coffee, at first on a lil' roaster named Molly. Molly got tired of all the work, and soon we gave her a rest. A friend helped out with the offer to roast on his beautiful baby-blue Diedrich roaster. That roaster has no name but it's definitely pretty and it roasts some great coffee. On June 1, 2009, we moved into a space three times the size of our old hole-in-the-wall store, and about 15 feet closer to the Pike Place Market. Finally, we had room to install our own Diedrich roaster. Her name is Anna. Anna is orange. She's very beautiful. She likes visitors. Our new space is on its way to becoming one the coziest nooks in Seattle. Please come visit us and see it for yourself.

Meet the Manager: Robby S.

A long time ago, a family of four landed in Seattle from the far away land of California. For the first several weeks they stayed in a nondescript apartment building close to Pike Place Market. One member of the family was a coffee nut. He had heard that Seattle was the capital of coffee. A trip to the close-by chain store claiming to be Seattle's best was a disappointment to say the least. After some time, the family moved away from downtown Seattle to a more permanent house. The plumber came to install the washing machine. A little home espresso maker was waiting to be plugged in. The coffee nut made an espresso for the plumber. A terrible espresso. The plumber said: "Let me show you the best coffee in Seattle." That week on Saturday, the coffee nut and the plumber went to a hole-in-the-wall in Eastlake. The coffee nut had a Macchiato. The Macchiato was the most divine drink the coffee nut had ever enjoyed. On that day, Seattle Coffee Works was conceived.

I don't normally drink coffee (I'm more of a tea person, if all the boba and tea shop reviews I…read morewrite don't say anything!), but I'm always up for new experiences, especially ones that allow me to expand my taste horizons and ability to describe flavors and aromas. After booking a tea tasting at a local tea shop, I went around looking for coffee tastings and found Victrola. Every Friday at 11AM, they offer a free tasting class, so we, of course, booked the very next Friday! Arriving at the shop a bit before 11AM, it was pretty full, with most tables taken and a short line of 2-3 people in front of me. We checked in with the cashier and he said the barista was getting things ready. Maybe 5 minutes later, we were led to the room in the back, where the barista introduced the tasting experience and handed us two sheets of paper, one with the anatomy of a coffee cherry, and the other with their coffee flavor wheel. For this week, it was only us two for the tasting, so we had a full monopoly of the barista (according to him, the prior week was 8 people!). We were able to try two coffees - both single origin, one from Guatemala and the other from Colombia. We started by sniffing the beans and grounds, with the Guatemalan emanating notes of lightly roasted peanuts (per tasting notes, it's milk chocolate, orange, and "elegant") and the Colombian with dark soy and umami notes (per tasting notes, it's pineapple, melon, and date), at least to my nose. The barista brewed both via pour over (if I remember correctly, it was 203F water with 20g of the Guatemalan, 24g of the Colombian in 360g of water). I forgot the exact grind sizes he used. Interestingly, the flavor profile of the Colombian was completely different to me between the grounds and the final brew. Very fruity throughout - I'm not that adept at description, but it's definitely a fresher, crisp fruit, not dried fruit, and not red fruit or berries, nor citrus. I'll have to file this one away as pineapple and green apple, per the barista. In terms of mouthfeel, it's thick, almost syrupy, coating the mouth with the fruity flavors. The Guatemalan, on the other hand, is completely different, starting with roasted coffee, then still with the peanut notes, but also adding a caramel-like essence. Very 'brown' on the color wheel. Mouthfeel-wise, thinner, watery like tea. I have never had good quality coffee before and this was certainly an experience that opened my eyes to how good coffee can actually be. I still have a ton of tea leaves to go through, but perhaps when I'm nearing the end, I'll have to start drinking more coffee. Tea, then chocolate, and now maybe coffee? My wallet is crying...

Definitely a hopping place at the end of the workday. It's got a darker ambiance and it's cozy. It has indoor, outdoor, and patio seating, though we chose to stay indoor. Pro tip - the poofs make you sit REALLY low. The food choices around 1pm were dismal, and limited. Maybe they'd sold out, or maybe they just don't have a lot there, but nothing even looked fresh enough to warrant purchase. The other thing that killed me was the service. There was one person on the entire 4 hours I was there, and it made for an incredibly slow experience. It was friendly enough, if not a little dismissive. Prices are reasonable and there is paid parking across the street, but take that with a "for Seattle" caveat.

Salty's isn't the cheapest dining option at SEA, but between the quality of the food, the relaxed atmosphere, and the outstanding service, I think it's well worth it. Came in on a Friday night and learned that Old Stove Brewing gets busy for a reason! The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!
