My order arrived late so I forgot to take a picture but I wish I did so you can see how little meat they put in our dishes. Even the tofu dish, they put like ) chunks of tofu. I know inflation is bad but tofu is like $2 a container. All 3 entrees (beef, chicken, tofu) had very small amount of protein but waaaaay too much rice/noodles. The taste was just ok. I have pho frequently. It's one of my favorite meals. The crab and shrimp pho I had here were very lacking in depth and flavor. It had a few pieces of imitation crab, and the shrimp was tough and overcooked. Adding fish sauce and Sriracha didn't help much either. The grill beef with grape leaves was under seasoned as well. The only thing I liked here was the Lychee Sake. Customer service was very slow and poor. We sat there for a while before the watress came over. 2 waitresses ignored us when we raised our hands several times. One just looked at us straight on and walked pass. I finally had to get up to go to the counter, and the waitress looked annoyed by this. read more

I still like Viet Taste, but the flavor of the food has lost its edge. It is not quite as bright and nuanced as it once was. Many dishes are on the sweet side for some reason. I used to love the lemongrass chicken (ordered spicy with extra chili on the side) and the ground beef in grape leaves. They aren't nearly as good as they used to be. The grilled pork and mixed grill are still good. We lean towards going to Basil Leaf on Eubank NE instead of Viet Taste anymore. read more

Staff is pleasant and helpful, really appreciate customers supporting them during this phase. I had a combo shrimp fried rice plate, and it was awesome. Came here on a weekend evening around 7:30PM, restaurant was pretty full, was promptly seated. I got vermicelli (bun) with grilled pork and shrimp, was mediocre. The noodles were cut up really small, and the shrimp didn't have any flavor (needs more salt, tasted like it was boiled, didn't really have the charred taste). Pork was fine, bean sprouts and lettuce weren't very fresh. Cheap though at around $10 post-tax, good portions. Good ratio of meat to noodles to vegetables. read more

Please don't come to this restaurant!!! Please!!! They have fast service, amazing food and super rad staff and I'd like to keep it that way. The #60 Bun Ga Xa Ot was profoundly disappointing. You could not taste the lemongrass nor the chili in the dish, both of which are mentioned in the actual name of the dish. The noodles were served hot and mushy when they were supposed to be served cold. There were no crushed peanuts, which are required. The carrots and cucumber slivers were not cold pickled, which they always should be. There was no cilantro and no basil or mint which should have been in the bottom of the dish instead of cheap shredded lettuce. They served highly diluted nuoc mam instead of a properly prepared nuoc cham to pour over the dish This robbed the dish of any lime juice acidity or garlic flavor whatsoever. I have eaten this dish at least a hundred times in my life both here and in Vietnam. This didn't cut it at all. The final result was mushy and flavorless. The quantity was quite sufficient, though. read more

The service is great, as for the food my noodles had so much soy sauce and the meat well was chewy and the veggies were just well a weird bright green. I did not finish any of it. I hate to see this place go bad so fast as it is a long favorite of ALBUQUERQUE. I will try at a later date. Maybe I got the cook at the wrong time 2pm. read more

I use to go to Viet taste a lot when I was younger, unfortunately now it has a bad reputation with the Vietnamese community. Some say the food does not taste as good anymore as they changed it to have a less authentic taste to market to the more Americanize community. Went here with my Vietnamese friend after not being here for a year or so; and I was quite surprise by the price! Honestly it's so cheap, might be the cheapest price for a viet restaurant in Albuquerque. The portion was obviously smaller when compared to other restaurants nowadays but it is still very much worth it. Now on to review the food. Soy bean milk, could be more sweet but still tasty. Spring rolls, 3.50$ for 2?? That's a pretty good price, taste is nothing different from other spring rolls but nothing wrong either. Okay and now the bun bo hue, if you never tried bun bo hue you are seriously missing out. If I may dare say, way better than the overrated Pho, there I said it. It's a spicy(a little bit) lemon grass soup from the province of Hue. Not to be cocky but I know my bun bo hue. My favorite dish, I have had my fair share of bun bo hue in this lifetime , and I have it at least a week no cap. What is one of the most important factor to me in a bun bo hue is the noodles. Bun is a type of noodles, it comes in two sizes, big and small. Small bun is usually eaten with Bun Rue, and big bun in bun bo hue. This bun bo hue unfortunately had small bun which was disappointing. The reason why people prefer pho over bun bo hue is because bun bo hue is more intense in flavors and ingredients. It contains harden pork blood, pig feet, and cha lua(Vietnamese sausage.) This bun bo hue did not contain any of those, which I guess is to not scare off those who are not that experienced with viet food. I guess the Vietnamese community was right when they said that Viet Taste changed some of their dishes to make it more approachable. The lemon grass flavor that bun bo hue is known for is still there, and the meat that they included was still plentiful for the price. If you are a beginner or casual enjoyer of viet food this is a good place to go to. I also see myself coming here more often in the future if I need my Vietnamese food fix when I'm in college (broke college student moment). In conclusion, do not expect 100% authentic food from Viet Taste, but cheap delicious eats. read more

Went in today for some lunch after realizing the restaurant across the street (Magokoro) was closed for renovations. There was a decent line, we were seated pretty quickly (around 2-3 minutes). Be aware that any drink besides water will cost you extra. The service was fast and there were constantly people walking around to refill drinks or help you - the only problem was getting there attention. It seemed everyone was in a rush, and there was really nobody that asked if you needed anything or if everything tasted okay. Anyways, I ordered the Beef and Egg Roll Noodle Bowl with a spring roll on the side. The beef was what you would expect, nothing special. The noodles were good - although (personal preference) there was a little bit too much bean sprouts in there for my taste. The lettuce in the bowl also tasted either old or refrigerated. Besides that, the sauce was good and the spring roll was what you would expect. No complaints there. The price itself is decent. Around $20 for two people. Overall, its an alright place but also not somewhere I would go back to over some of the other restaurants here in Albuquerque. Up to your personal preference. read more

How does this place not have five+ stars - it's the shiiiiiznit!! Met a gal pal for dinner and we wanted a fun, yummy place to chat and eat. She knew of Viet Taste and suggested it because she knew I'd like it. She was not wrong! The food is EXCELLENT. The portions are great! And the price is surprising. We each ate for $12. My friend knew what she wanted but not what it was. She described the noodles she wanted and the waitress said that was order #91. I got #57 - a bowl with chicken and egg rolls - and an avocado shake. I had no idea what to expect. A LARGE bowl of noodles with chicken and an egg roll chopped into bits showed up, as well as a tiny bowl of sweet liquid. No idea what that was, but my friend said to dump it in. I couldn't finish it all and took a little less than half home. It was incredibly yummy. They brought my avocado shake out in a plastic to-go cup at the end of the meal. No explanation for that, but that's not a complaint; it was super delicious and a yummy to-go treat. The vibe is kick-back but the decor nice. I have been craving pho. This place never disappoints but today must have been an off day. Started with egg rolls which are always delicious and they were fantastic. Lots of flavors and no mushy filling. I ordered the pho with meatballs. When it came it was so bad. Too many noodles and not enough broth. The noodles turned to mush immediately. When we pointed this out to the server and manager we were told it's the chef's discretion as to how many noodles are in the pho. They offered more broth which was not satisfactory because at this point all I was left with was a bowl full of mushy noodles. Customer service is always so great when we go, i take my almost 8 month old and they are accommodating to her with giving me a small bowl and sometimes they give her, her own bowl of pho. I ordered #34, the shrimp and crab udon soup. It was delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant. They included everything I asked them to (sriracha and hoisin sauces). Everything I had, spring roll, papaya salad, and house beef pho, was bizarrely tasteless, as if watered down: the sauce for the spring roll, the dressing for the salad, and the broth in pho all tasted like dishwater. This place was shown to me, as I would have never thought to go in. I literally love their chicken and noodle so much. The sauce is tangy and the meat is always cooked fully. They take their time with the food with their care. Even during the pandemic, they really did do their best to keep the establishment clean and serve good food. Excellent food and will be back.
