Really good Vermicelli bowls! Everything was fresh in my bowl from the veggies, to the crushed peanuts, the pork was marinated greatly/had good texture, and the shrimp was lightly fried and delicious, and the egg roll was just right! The chili oil and the fish sauce in house complemented the bowl perfectly. Also the portions were generous and left me filling full - and not all bowls from other places often do. I've been wanting to try this place for a while since it's down the road from me. The outside is a little deceiving because when you walk in, you don't expect it to be as large inside as it is. They have a nice setup and pretty large room of about 40 tables. I came on a Monday and it was slow, maybe 6 patrons total so server was attentive and food came out fast. We ordered the shrimp spring rolls, crab Rangoon, and 2 different pho. Shrimp rolls were just okay, a little flavorless; they definitely need the sauce on the side but we found it was much tastier with the sriracha sauce that is on the table. Crab Rangoon were delicious! Didn't taste much crab but they were warm and creamy with a crunchy exterior. I got the #47 Pho Tai Nam and it was just okay; again lacking some flavor. This was my first time having pho so I'm not sure if I should have gotten a different type but my friend who got the #45 wasn't overly excited about his either (and he's had pho before). I definitely needed to spice it up with sriracha in it. Overall I'm glad I tried this place and maybe if I go again, I'd skip pho and get the banh mi sandwich (which I was really debating on getting because I love banh mi). read more

A very large dining area with modern decor without an enticing theme made us feel uncomfortable. The menu is short and the staff is friendly and prompt. We tried crab Rangoons, the appetizer plate, gyozas, pho #43 and #47, and fried rice with shrimp. The crab rangoons, the gyozas, and the chicken on the stick were acceptable; however, the crispy egg rolls and the shrimp rangoons seemed to be not fresh and re-fried with a dark brown tone instead of golden brown. The egg rolls very dense and unpleasant. The sauces for the appetizers were basic and unappetizing. The fried shrimp rice was a large bed of bland rice with a few pieces of uncleaned shrimp - we left almost all of it. The pho's broth comes in beef only is flavorful with too much onion to feel light; the eye round and brisket was tough and not enjoyable. We were startled by the strange layout of the restaurant, but still decided to try the food due to nice reviews. It's a nice restaurant. But only pho was great. Others tasted below average, especially Bun Bo Hue. Customers service was the worst. He missed our order but he didn't apologize. He left our drink on another table for 10mins. Probably he wanted us to grab those drink but how could we know those were our drink when he didn't come or check our table at all. Nothing beats an excellent soup on a cold day. The Pho here is awesome- some of the best I'v had ever. I ordered the seafood Pho which included shrimp, crab stick and fish ball. Overall excellent choice if you're looking for Vietnamese food in the Northwest Suburbs. The dining room is much nicer looking than average, large, and ventilation is very good (the aroma of the food doesn't stick on to your clothing). Prices are a little higher than in the southern suburbs and uptown, but fairly food for this area. Service is fast and friendly, with extremely quick service speeds (food was served within minutes of ordering). Parking is fairly easy, even on the weekends. While the food is a little lighter in flavor, consistent with other Vietnamese restaurants outside of the city, I enjoyed the flavors here quite a bit. #25 combination bun was done well, with deep fried shrimp, tasty lemongrass pork, and crispy egg rolls. I like how the vegetables weren't overly cold, but still quite crisp and was pleased with how the noodles were soft and lightly chewy but not sticky (even without the fish sauce). The lettuce, carrots, and bean sprouts were definitely fresh and made for an overall great dish. The pho here was also done very well. Probably the best you'll get nearby outside of Joy Yee's and North Point Chopsticks. I tried a bit of everything with #42 and wasn't disappointed. The slices of beef were already fairly cooked inside, though that didn't detract too much from the experience. The meatball had a good firmness to it and wasn't too salty. I liked the extra soft texture of the tendon as well, which went well with the softer texture of the noodles. The broth was balanced fairly well, with being a little bolder in flavor than other local options without being too salty. Once again, the basil, bean spouts, lime, onion, and cilantro were quite fresh. The appetizer plate was a great way to try out a variety of different appetizers. The shrimp rangoons were an interesting take on the dish, a bit more like a crispy shrimp with cream cheese instead of the deep fried wonton variation you usually see. The egg rolls were nice and crisp, with the same light flavor you find when it comes with the bun. Chicken on a stick was fairly meaty and lightly seasoned, my least favorite of the options. The spring roll was the best, with fresh vegetables, chewy skin, plenty of shrimp, and delicious flavor when paired with either the dipping sauces provided. Overall, very glad to have this option available in the area. The dishes are presented attractively with good flavor, in a very pleasantly designed dining area. I also work near that location so my coworkers and I would also frequent it. CASH ONLY RESTAURANT- Knowing that the OG location is cash only, I hit the ATM before heading to place our order. They do have an ATM on site. Now Viet Taste Palatine...I'm in trouble having this location only 15 minutes away. It was hot today (86) but I have been anxiously awaiting the opening of this location since I saw the sign up in March. The location is huge but we opted to take the food to go. We had the Pho Ga, crab rangoon, and my wife had a taro coconut bubble tea. Viet Taste is the spot for me to get soup. The crab rangoons were good as usual and my wife liked the tea. All the soup ingredients come separate and the broth is hot (temperature not spicy). They also gave us napkins, chopsticks, regular plastic spoon and fork. Finally made it here after it's popped up "near me" for months! Lovely space that's far nicer than I'd expect for this strip mall. Friendly staff that let me swap rice for noodles too. I got the lemongrass chicken which had so much chicken and many delicious fresh vegetables. It was a bit dry so I added some hoisin. But a seriously great dish! I have ordered multiple times from the Palatine location to try to support a local restaurant, and it's been a failure each order. The first order: The meat was served raw in a container with raw vegetables and room temperature broth. As someone who was in a location without a kitchen I'm not sure how they expect someone to eat raw meat and veggies in Luke warm liquid. The 2nd order: I ordered veggie pho and there was no cilantro, basil and jalapeños. The broth was also Luke warm and the veggies were raw. The 3rd and last order: I ordered veggie broth, I had two slices of carrots, broccoli stems (no florets) and 3 pieces of green pepper. No onion, no cilantro. Literally they served me food scraps in barely warm broth again. Each time I've called to let them know how they could do better. It's clear they don't care. I wouldn't waste my money on warm broth, food scraps presented as fresh food, and forgotten sides. read more
