One of my friends got the spicy pho and it was delicious. They had used the bún noodles for it instead of the normal pho noodles. Everything we ordered was very good. We started with the summer rolls filled with flank steak and we really enjoyed the flavor of these. The steak was tender and the rice paper on the outside had a nice texture. We also enjoyed the noodles that came inside. We also got the chicken satay which was great. The chicken was tender and hot when it was served and the sauce had a great peanut flavor. I then got the spicy pho udon soup and really enjoyed it. Horrible service, so-so food, and unclean restaurant. We came at 10pm (the restaurant closed at 11) and they were in such a rush to get us out of there. We were rushed to give them our orders (fair enough, maybe the kitchen was closing), and the server was really impatient with questions. We ordered a pot of tea and it came with two small cups without handles that you could not touch without burning your hand. So you had to wait for the tea to cool significantly which then defeated the purpose of hot tea. This was a waste of money. We placed our food orders and it came out in 3 minutes flat. Normally I like quick service but there were way too many noodles in my pho and way too few in my husband's pho - no doubt a lack of consistency because they rushed the orders. The cleanliness issue - one of the green tea cups had some brown gunk in it. The water glasses smelled like pho, as if they'd been wiped down with rags that had also mopped up excess pho. And then worst was the fact that my husband's chair had some sort of orange sauce ALL over it. He initially thought it was just on the seat and wiped it off, but as we went home, it was all over the back of his pants near his ankles and so forth (see picture). Busy spot in an area lacking good choices. I went yesterday (Saturday) at 8:30p, and we were lucky to get the last available table for 4. The menu is overwhelming, filled with yummy choices, both for meat lovers and haters. The service is impersonal and rushed, but professional. BBQ spare ribs (appetizer): the meat was tasty and nicely charred, but the sauce was a little too vinegary. They weren't bad, but the meat could have been more tender. Basil duck: plenty of succulent meat surrounded by flavorful vegetables. A good choice. Banh hoi (angel hair) with lemongrass pork shoulder: we didn't quite get why the left a whole "brick" of plain angel hair noodles underneath the pieces of pork. While i would've loved to give a better review, I can't say the quality is good as ONLY a takeout restaurant. By the time the food came, it was sitting in packaging for 45 minutes and the crispy spring rolls were soggy. It was their spin of Pad Thai, and it was much better than I was expecting. The shrimps in the dish were plentiful, and were skillfully cleaned with love. The fusion of flavors was perfect and authentic; great stuff. My gal pal got the stir fried veggies with garlic, and it was very subtle, but a good option if you prefer something very plain and simple. Compared to any other other vietnamese restaurant, this spot makes it better. So I'm suggesting this food. Beef steak cube-- steak cube with salad on the side & that sweet sauce. This one is good. If you don't wanna get dissapointed & try new flavors, to be safe get this dish. It taste like any other asian type of steak meat that any asian restaurant have. Basil beef-- beef with broccoli & cucumber. Have you tried beef basil noodle from any thai restaurant? If yes, then it taste semilar. I'm pretty sure it has oyster sauce. I came here on a Sunday evening. It was pretty busy and a bit noisy but the ambiance was still nice overall. I had the spicy pho udon (option b with the beef eye round, brisket, trip and tendon) for $15. When I got the dish, my first impression to myself was honestly like "woah, it's gigantic/huge!". So in terms of portion size, it's definitely filling. I would say though that there's just too much broth for me. And I sometimes worry about getting a soup dish in a really gigantic bowl (as it often gets warm/loses heat quickly) but I didn't have too much of an issue with that here. In terms of flavor, I found the spicy udon to be surprisingly not that spicy. They have a spice rack and I added some sauce and many jalapeños but still felt it wasn't the exact flavor I was craving... I actually ended up at Vietnaam because Pye Boat Noodle was closed and I do prefer the broth quality at Pye Boat, although I would say Pye Boat's noodle soups are a relatively smaller portion and a bit lighter as a meal in comparison. read more

My friend and I came on a Friday night and i was surprised to find that it was packed with a lot of people waiting! Luckily the wait was only about 15 min for 2 and we were quickly seated. The roast pork shoulder was nicely flavored and very tender (like a kbbq taste). It came with pickled veggies on the side which nicely offset the heaviness of the pork. A member of the group suggested Vietnaam which was just up the street--yes, let's do it! As for food, I got the pho bok choy with roasted pork. The broth was fantastic and the pork was delicious. I just wished that they used rice noodles instead of egg noodles. I also got bubble Thai iced tea which was okay--they OD'd on the tapioca pearls. It was about 10 of us and they were able to accommodate us just fine. They even gave us separate checks--some places won't do it if they group it too large. The best pho I've had in a long time. Definitely an upgrade from the only pho place I've found in Westchester to date. This makes me a little more optimistic about moving to the UES!! The ambiance is kind of strange. Pho restaurants are typically pretty low-key places, but Vietnaam tries to straddle the upscale/classy line with its decor. Maybe it is to cater to the predominantly white, wealthy neighborhood...I don't know. Also, don't expect any of the servers to be able to answer your questions about the menu items - they are NOT Vietnamese (in fact, they are mostly Chinese). Apparently only the owner is Vietnamese. So if you have a question about whether the 'spicy pho' is actually 'bun bo hue', don't bother asking anyone unless the owner is around. Otherwise, the pho is really great! The broth is hearty and the noodles are cooked a little under al dente, which is exactly how I like it. The sprouts and basil were fresh, and the hoisin sauce had a little kick to it! This is not a sit down restaurant currently so takeout was what I went ahead and did . On the recommendation one of the workers I got the # 38 with brown rice . The food was almost perfect . At around 18 bucks , the 38 consisted of lemon grass chicken with veggies. The juicy lemon grass chicken was excellently cooked with a slight crisp on the outside and soft and tender on the inside and was a thick cut of meat which was a very pleasant surprise . It's garnish and sauces also complimented it very well . The veggies( carrots, cucumber and tomatoes) also tasted good except I could've used less tomatoes and more of the others . In fact, I could've done without the tomatoes . They had no business being in this meal except to add color for the visuals . Had the amount of Proper veggies match the amount of chicken It would've been a perfect eating experience . We came here on a Sunday night around 8pm and it was pretty packed but the wait for a table of 4 was less than 10 minutes. My friends and I shared the pork moonshine dumplings (comes in 6 pieces). The dumpling skin was chewy and tasty, and it goes really well with the filling and given sauce. I personally got the large Laksa with shrimp, and as a Malaysian, I was very impressed with how a Vietnamese restaurant was able to pull it off! I wish they added bean sprouts or more vegetables, instead of just noodles, shrimp, and tiny amount of basils. I was able to try my friend's' dishes - Bun Xao with chicken that tasted like pad Thai, Bun (Vermicelli) with chicken that had a sweet taste to it, and Banh Hoi (Angel hair) with roasted pork shoulders which was super flavorful.
