I am in love with this place! The Village Baker is one of my favorite places to grab a treat and I love their bakery. I haven't had a chance to come in a sit down, but it's on my list of things to do. The parking lot is decently sized behind the building, just take it slow around the blind corner. There is a little section of gifts and knick knack type items for sale, but once you round the corner, there is a beautiful case full of gorgeous baked goods. Cakes, pies, cookies, scones, bread- you name it, they have it! We grabbed scones on our way by to have a light breakfast for the car- cranberry orange and white chocolate cherry. Will never ever go here ever again. Server did not give a crap. Food was raw and bland. I had to ask for sauce to make my meal not SO BLAND. They also didn't tell me the grilled chicken I added to my meal that it was $5 extra. I took 3 bites maybe of my food and called it quits. My Mother in laws sandwich had raw bread on it. We told our waitress and she didn't care at all. I told her mine was bland she didn't say sorry nothing. You're in customer service. You're supposed to act like you at LEAST care about your customers. Manager told me she was gonna take my meal off and I only got $3 off of a $12 item. I also got a small drink of alcohol and was charged $11 must be some Gold alcohol. Wasn't even that good. Only thing good was my mother in laws soup. read more

On a warm Friday in August I met up with 3 friends to get brunch before heading to the beach. One of the group had browsed the menu and selected The Village Baker. We arrived at 10am and headed in to put our name on the list. The person at the register let us know that there would be up to a 45 minute wait, and tried to talk us into sitting outside in the beer garden and ordering takeout. She stated that on Fridays there were only two girls waiting tables. We still put our name in and headed outside to wait. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we decided against the takeout option and just chatted and looked at the menu. The outdoor area was pleasant, shaded, and there was a coffee cart available. After about 25 minutes, we noticed that many patrons had left, so we checked where we were on the list. We were next! And we were hungry! We were seated near the bar and our server came by to introduce herself and take our drink orders. We were in good spirits and joked with her about celebrating a birthday and possibly needing a picture taken in a bit. We ordered 3 strawberry mimosas and one "beermosa" with the Bell's Two Hearted that was on tap. After a few minutes the three mimosas were brought out...no beermosa and no explanation. We all waited to have a birthday toast until everyone had drinks. After a few more minutes one of our group asked about the missing beverage. Our server said "the bar doesn't know how to make it". More minutes passed. Our server came back and said that actually the bar tender can't figure out how to ring it in. We offered to mix it at the table if the bartender could send out the beer and the orange juice. Finally the missing drink was served! We completed the toast and waited to have our food order taken. About 45 minutes after our arrival we were placing our order. I excitedly ordered the veggie quiche. Our server said that they were out of it. I then asked for the quiche Lorraine. She said they were out of that too...."well actually we don't currently have a quiche maker". I then settled on the biscuits and gravy. The birthday girl asked for a second strawberry mimosa. When she was brought a regular mimosa she immediately asked the server for the correct drink. The server too quickly said "that has strawberry in it" even though it was very orange and not at all pink as the first round has been. Thankfully the food was perfection! When it was time for the cheques many items were mixed up and on the wrong person's bill. At that point we decided to figure it out ourselves rather than ask our server to correct it. I'm thankful for the time with friends and the delicious brunch, but would only go back for takeout based on the level of service given. read more

Bed and Breakfast quaint decor on the left (full bar), along with bakery counter and seating to the right. She tried the generous eggs Florentine, I, the peppery sausage gravy on an Asiago scone. Their muffins are not your average muffins that you get from a chain store. They're big- like twice the size of your hand big. - Variety. There were sweet and savory scones (cinnamon chip scones, blueberry muffins, cranberry orange muffins, asiago cheese scones). I saw fresh bread loaves. There were mini quiches. Looks like there's something for everyone. What's Not - Size. Because the pastries are big, that means it could be difficult to finish or you may not want to finish such a large pastry. Dudes, talk about sugar high. - Price. These pastries are pretty large and are freshly made. That means they're not cheap. An individual scone costs over $3, depending on the flavor. The muffins can be a bit pricey, as well. You get what you pay for, but be prepared to pay. - Location. It's easy to miss. Be prepared to make a wrong turn and double back. Had the most lovely lunch here today with my husband! I was too involved with our convo to take pics of the food but it was incredibly delicious. When you walk in you immediately smell the delicious aroma of the bakery. It's the quaintest little place and reminded me a bit of Laduree' restaurant in Paris bc of its coziness. We went here to check out their restaurant/shop since we'd seen their products in markets. We were there early afternoon & decided to just pick up some goodies to take home. Their menu seems to feature breakfast & lunch choices, including alcohol drinks which struck me as unusual for a bakery. They also have a full coffee/espresso/tea list. They have many delectable dessert items in addition to many bread choices. We picked up some cookies & scones, and the latter are especially wonderful. The blueberry scones are loaded with berries, and the texture is like an authentic scone. They did not have cinnamon rolls & did not notice any doughnuts. The Village Baker is awesome! It's like the Zingerman's of Spring Lake! First thing I noticed was the super dope restrooms with stalls decorated with boss queens (Ava, Chisholm, Madam C.J. Walker). Shout out to Sara, the Bakers wife, for the free handouts. Next was the menu...fresh baked bread, scones, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I love me a good binder:) The photos made it easy to choose what you wanted to eat. I had the Pastrami Pretzel with fries which was bangin'. Sounds like the salmon salad was a bit dry but the Texas Spicy pizza was a hit. Came in the next morning for a cinnamon roll and latte. My friends loved the scones.
