Everything at Village Cafe is by far the best on Siesta Key! I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict. The chef has been here for over 20 years and really knows the proper way to cook to cook a Benny . . . . From the bottom of the English muffin to the top of the hollandaise sauce and everything in between. Kudos to the chef! The omelets are wonderful too and the servers make for an enjoyable visit. Have to update my review. This has been a go-to place for us and the last time we were on vacation, we had a bad experience. Food was great, as usual. Service was not. Our waitress decided to sit down and just chat with another customer as we sat there and waited and waited. She never checked on us. I finally had to ask somebody for the bill, 15 minutes later. she finally got up and was the one who was at the front when we paid and she was rude. No I'm sorry, but acted irritated. Just ruined my mood of this place. We usually eat here every morning when we were on vacation. We ate here the first day and never came back the rest of the week. read more

Waiter was serving us from behind us and not in front of the table. He also did not ask how our meal was and brought containers for thr leftovers ( we threw it out) when I went inside to talk to someone she refered me to the owner. He told me that i shouldnt have ate it. I said its in the containers that we don't even want!! In have never seen such defensive people when it comes to food. I never send food back, ever!! I am sitting here at village cafe right now. It took more than 5 minutes to approach the table then when she did she took my friends order and rolled her eyes and was looking around like she was impatient. Then I ordered a muffin a asked if there were nuts in it and she says oh only on the top. I said ok I can take them off I get the stupid muffin abd the entire thing as filledc with nuts insisde and out. Then she proceeds to bring are meals out separtley and she hasn't once asked how are meal was. I mean there is only 2 of us and only one was a small order. My family and I found Village Cafe because we were looking for someplace that served breakfast at 11:00. I found Village Cafe on a Yelp search, and we are so glad we did! Everyone from the servers to the cashier were super friendly and were on the ball with anything we needed. The service was excellent and so was the food. Our party ordered both breakfast and lunch.: Blackened grouper sandwich-good size portion & delicious,, eggs benedict-also great, with a good hollandaise. The heartland frittata was excellent too- eggs,spinach,bacon & cheese, baked to perfection. We ordered a couple kids breakfasts & the kids loved them. One was the Mickey Mouse pancake, served with perfectly cooked bacon & sliced strawberry. The Village Cafe also serves a choice of fresh fruit (which was really fresh and had lots of variety), or home fries (which were also very good) to accompany the breakfasts. Also, the toast they serve is so good (I know....toast!), but it is very hearty/homemade bakery bread. I don't usually eat toast, but there's was so good! I cannot say a bad thing about the place except I wish it was closer to where I live! We will certainly be back when visiting the West Coast. This bad review is in reference only to the BLT sandwich which was horribly skimpy for the $6.75 charged.What a tourist trap and I am a local! A real disappointment!I told the waitress and showed it to her,I told the cashier and the front end manager and no one seemed to car? They said sometimes they come out like that? I said Sometimes? So there is no consistency to your food? 1 tiny thin piece of lettuce, 1/2 of a thinly sliced tomato on each side of the small sandwich and 3 super thin/narrow slices of bacon.What a disappointment!!! And the attitude of the staff, holy cow even worse! Afraid of the owner? Maybe they didn't say a word to him and he was sitting right there! I will add, the omelets have always been fine, but would stay away from the tuna, it is dark meat tuna and tastes very fishy and is not good at all.WE WERE OVERALL Very disappointing In the food and the handling of or should i say the not handling of how disappointed we were and will not be returning!!! I think someone else referred to it as diner food and that sums it up well. This has been a favorite breakfast spot for years and the helpings are large. Great location and nice outdoor seating. Food can be inconsistent in quality and this week was an example of a not-so great meal. Tuesday morning was fairly slow at the restaurant and our food was ok but not great. Temperature of my eggs was not hot and both of us left with upset stomachs. Pluses...gluten free bread was available and a coffee carafe was left on our table. I think the manager/owner needs to pay attention to the food prep and handling including giving the place a thorough cleaning. Something was bothering the wait staff on Tuesday when we were there which probably didn't help. We like this place but did not return on this visit to SK. This is a good place to eat with decent prices and generally good quality. Just not this week. read more
