A very nice breakfast I hadn't planned to eat out this morning but plans change, and I ended up at Village Café. It was surprisingly quiet, I suppose still being off season and the slowest month of the year is to blame. Good for me, I got right in and had great service. They have some nice seating outside but it was already warming up, so I opted for the coolness of the indoor air conditioning. For breakfast I tried their Siesta Benedict. It was fine, the Canadian bacon a bit thin and small in circumference, but it all tasted good. I got it with homefries and there were plenty, well-cooked and skin on. The coffee cups were small but they left a pot, so I was able to top off whenever I pleased. They have an excellent location, right in the village just steps from the 4 way stop. You can sit outside and watch the people and traffic go by. read more

Have never had a bad meal here. Service is always friendly but efficient. The owner(s) are very friendly. A really really kind and hardworking family. Coffee is great too. They make a good use of the space they have so that typically the wait doesn't get too bad. I like that they have lots of options for outside dining with the covered patio area and regular outdoor seating. My only one teeny teeny tiny critique is I miss when they had Cholula. read more

Two Eggstravaganzas: one with veggies and one ham, mushrooms and cheese. English muffins. Over medium perfectly cooked eggs. Plenty of veggies and ham. The hostess had the patience of JOB as Judy said it was too cold inside. Sat outside for 7 minutes and there was the beginning of a shower. Back inside to the original table! Coffee here is REALLY GOOD! I prefer iced most of the year and, it was able to stand up to it throughout the whole glass. EAT HERE. read more

Took a little while to get our food but the dishes were tasty. Nice sized quesadilla, perfectly cooked rare burger, nice fresh salads, baked goods, sandwiches, and a full breakfast menu as well. Open daily 7 AM to 2:30 in the heart of Siesta Key Village. They have many loaves of bread and other fresh baked bakery items for sale, please their own logo embossed shirts, coffee cups, drink ware and more. My wife and I dined there last week and the food was excellent. The eggs Benedict were cooked properly which is something you seldom see. The service was good but i almost fell over because of the waiters behavior concerning his tip.(Chris) I normally put no tip on the credit card and leave cash because i waited tables in collage and it was always appreciated. I had gotten up to go to the rest room and he arrived at the table and looked at the check and then the floor. My wife looked at him and he asked her if I had dropped the tip on the floor...Super glad I hadn't returned yet. My wife didn't say anything till i was in the car. Went to Siesta Key for a wedding and spent a little bit of time wondering around the "main st" (can't remember the actual street name) on the small island community outside of Sarasota. Went looking for a breakfast spot and initially thought we'd hit up the Broken Egg, but since there was a line out the door we kept walking and stumbled into the Village Cafe. We were seated immediately at an outdoor table, which was great for people-watching. I ordered the breakfast burrito (around $8-9) which was full of eggs, onions, green peppers and cheese. It was smothered in what I assume was Pace picante salsa. It was pretty good but really nothing special. The breakfast menu wasn't too extensive with options but it got the job done because it doesn't seem like the kind of place that will get super crowded. 4 star average people? Really? Look, Village Café is fine - good size portions for a reasonable price - but everything on this menu you could make at home and it would taste the same. I came here simply because I've lived here for 4 years, was on Siesta Key, and wanted breakfast. Sun Garden Café was across the street - and I love t there - but we thought we'd try something different. Its a diner, they have diner food. It's not really good, but it doesn't suck either. Like I said, the portions are big, but why go out and spend money on food you can make at home? I know, you can make everything at home, but this actually tastes like you just made it in your kitchen, and unless you're Alton Brown or Bobby Flay or someone like that, the food you make in your kitchen isn't exactly to die for. I got a frittata, which was bland, and my girlfriend got a breakfast burrito, which was okay and the size of my leg. Service was not good. Server took her sweet time getting to us and then never checked on us. I wanted ketchup - has to ask another server who also refilled our water - so kudos to her, but our server didn't even deserve the 15% we left her. Do yourself a favor - go to Sun Garden instead. Our good friend Alex is no longer with us, so we miss him as a main reason for going here - and one of the main reasons we went to the Sunday village market too - his breakfast croissants. But his son Tom and his daughter in law Kay, the owners, are cut from the same cloth, and go out of their way to make our visits there for breakfast welcoming and enjoyable. Many of the staff have been there a long time and share Tom & Kay's good humor, also evidenced by their rolling visual joke screen, and great service also. We go here often because of the great menu - you name it they got it, the availability of outdoor seating and the overall personality of the place. I love the Lox offerings, both are great. My wife loves the 'Apricot stuffed French Toast'. It is clean, the servers are friendly and the food is great - what more could you want? Miss you Alex! read more

Typical breakfast food...reasonably priced considering the location. We ate here twice because it was my husband's favorite breakfast place. Eggs well done as requested. Delicious breakfast! My mom and I both ordered the 2 Eggs with bacon, fruit, and she had their multigrain toast while I had an English muffin. The eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly, breads were fresh, and all of the fruit was sweet! Their house coffee was also very good. The service was fast, staff was so friendly, and the atmosphere was very enjoyable! Although we sat inside due to the heat there was plenty of outdoor seating as well. The food is good, but not great. My complaint isn't so much the food, as it is the owners. I've been there so many times, and I've tried to strike up a conversation with the husband and wife team of owners on many occasions, but they simply don't seem interested. It's strange. You'd think the owners would have more interest in being friendly, especially to their regular customers. While I like the food, and going out to Siesta Key is always fun, I think I'm not going to visit Village Cafe anymore... There are simply too many other places where the food is better, and the owners and workers are friendlier. read more

The nova lox bagel came with an ENTIRE PLATE full of fresh salmon, capers, tomatoes and onions and was definitely your money's worth. The stuffed French toast includes your choice of apples and apricot and is delicious with either! This place thrives off of making very simple breakfast/lunch items exquisite and satisfying without overdoing anything. On top of that, the service is outstanding. The staff is very friendly and attentive to the needs of the customers. The food is not fancy just good. I had the 1 egg ham grits and muffin The pice of ham was much more than I could finish. 2 days ago Giving a 1 star. We were told that my medical support dog who alerts me when I'm about to have an attack would need to sit on the floor unless we sat outside. If we were inside he has to be on the floor. I just took medication that I have to do before eating and now I have to go somewhere else. This is illegal!. I will be reporting her. We are locals and have brought him here before and had no problem sitting inside with him on my lap. He tells me when I'm having a medical issue. NoT an emotional support but an actual medical issue.... We were allowed to sit with him inside before and the owner, who refused us inside service today was there our first time in there with our service medical alert pet. Locals support locals, I guess that is only good when snowbirds aren't in town? It was embarrassing for me to walk out. I hate to report them to the American disability association but its not legal to say he can only sit on my lap (which he needs to do) only outside. They had a table in the corner open. I have his papers too. Im disappointed being a true local and being a long time customer. He never touches the table. He lays in my lap and doesn't even go after people food. Like I said she will be reported. Its not right! He doesn't touch the table any where we go and he doesn't even try to go after food. read more
