My friend's are members at Vintage so we only swing by when they go. Vintage closed for some time to renovate and it was probably the best thing they did. They went from having pre-made plates of charcuterie to build your own plates, flat bread, and more! We ordered the ever-so-creamy triple cream brie which was SO good. I needed my own side of salami and wished they offered more slices. Speaking of more, I also wished they filled the plate with olives and cornichons. They offer refills on bread which is nice because let's be honest, 4 slices of bread won't do the job. Restroom is super spacious and clean which is big deal. My friend and I recently became monthly members here and we love it!! The service is always fast and friendly. Each month we pick up our wine and receive a complimentary glass of wine (you can choose anything on their wines by the glass menu) they have a limited food menu but all the snacks we have gotten are high quality and delish. Can't wait until they fully reopen for service. I think I've only received one bottle I wasn't super excited about but we have liked every bottle we have received other than that. Not only I could secure couple them online immediately, when I picked them up at the store, John said he had couple more bottles hidden somewhere in the shop and asked if I wanted them. Serious? Walking by the window and saw all the wine being poured and "needed" a flight of wine. It was pretty busy on a late Saturday afternoon, but there was one table available, so we had a seat. Seating is located in the front and the rest is a wine shop. Opted for the California Sun Sampler. 3-3oz pours for $42. A Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. They have the largest Champagne collection in the Bay Area! They even have some hard-to-find wines here. Heard someone found a rare Tokaji that he could not find elsewhere in California! The front area of the store is set up for a nice sitting area facing a large floor-to-ceiling glass window, great for some wine tasting over snacks. Their wine flights and combo plate are all fantastic! Walking pass the front area you will see wine shelves loaded with a great collection of a good variety of wines. Red, white, Rose, bubbly with various price range. There is something for everyone! This place is the sister business of Vintage Wine Bar, another adorable hangout spot in the middle of the Row. Highly recommend the wine bar for meeting friends and people watching, but when it gets busy or when weather is not as nice, Vintage Wine Merchants is a great alternative! I usually go to the Vintage wine bar that is set up outside- People usually get mixed up about the outside bar with the indoor Vintage Wine Merchants. Glass of Korbin Kameron 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma Valley was delicious!!!! and truffle cheese was spectacular. I will be coming back to buy more wines here. Once again, Drew has done it again by providing me with excellent service. My time here is never dull. It's been a year since I've been here and Drew has treated me with the same exact service. He still remembers me as well which is a huge plus. Yesterday I felt like celebrating because I had just finally paid off a credit card so I wanted to come in and pop a bottle of one of my favorite champagnes; Belair Rosé. The store only had one left and so I requested to have the bottle cold and placed in ice once I came back from lunch. Drew did his part by offering other champagne bottles similar to taste and price but I decided to go for what I originally came for. Once I got done eating next door, I walked inside Merchants and Drew was already setting up my table! He popped the cork and poured me a fine glass of my favorite. I love coming here because I can have a great casual conversation with him and still enjoy the intimacy of having my wine/champagne. I've got to keep coming back! Drew does an excellent job at what he does and he's very knowledgable! Its no wonder why there are so many regulars that come to him and want the comfort of him being there while they stay for food/drinks. He's respectful and has excellent manners. Domestic wines tend to high end, and not very adventurous in the varietals or regions. I became a member of the wine club here and have really loved my experience so much so that I make a special trip every month from San Francisco to visit. Every month I come pick up two bottles from the Vintage Club and thoroughly enjoy a surprise every time! Well worth the price and the visit for the diversity of wine that is selected and the free glass that I get to enjoy during pick up. Furthermore, the location is a wonderfully eclectic standout from the rest of the row and a wonderful spot to meet with old or new friends with beautiful high top bars and tables with tapas and drinks. Wine Wednesdays are back! And even BETTER! I've always been a fan of this place, but when I heard the wonderful sommelier, Amanda, was here, I happily made this my new go to spot on Wednesdays! (But you can also find Amanda here on Saturdays, also!) The wine selection is still amazing, but now with a certified sommelier on premace to help you decide on what to drink, you'll never have a wine you'll dislike! Their champagne and burgundy selections are especially great! And some of their prices for the wines are even better than if you went directly to the winery! The best deal here is their wine club though! There are three wine clubs to choose from. Choose the one that fits your style and budget! And unlike wine clubs for a specific winery, you actually get a variety of wine from wineries all over the world every month. Also, when you join the club, you get nice perks when you come into the store! There are no corkage fees on bottles purchased and opened on premise and even wine tasting events are either free or discounted for members! Be sure to try some snacks while you're here! Their brie with truffle honey is amazing! And the roasted tomatoes in olive oil are addicting! I love that this place is great for all kinds of wine enthusiasts. The wines that they have selected have been amazing and I haven't disliked any of them yet. The people working here sure know which wines to suggest too. I have come here several times before, but never for happy hour so I think this is a totally well waited review because their happy hour is AMAZING. First of all, you have to love wine, so I'm not going to address other kinds of happy hour(s) or whatnot because the wines here are fantastic. My friend and I shared the Pork-folio and a pate dish along with two flights since its two for one during happy hour (flights or glasses, Monday through Friday 3-6pm!). The flights were more like three glasses of wine! I love the generous pours here because you can share your flights and truly be able to taste what the wine is like. I loved the Go red or Go home as well as the Italian flight that I got. The pork-folio was delicious but the pate really hit the spot. The black pepper was a perfect compliment for the dish and we had a fantastic time. The atmosphere was chill, the staff was extra friendly and I enjoyed my wines very, very much. Excellent selection of international and domestic wines to purchase, and also to sit enjoy at 10 high tables with stools seating about 30 people max. They offer 3oz flights of wines in threesomes between $20 - $25 from white to red to bubbly. To snack there are small plates from $3 nuts, $8 Olive, $7 cream Brie and Truffle Honey, $6 Berries and cheese, to $15 Pork-Folio and $15 cheese plate, finally a $25 Combo cheese and Pork-Folio. They also have 2 Pate options with crackers for $9 each. By the Glass pours range from 3 Sparklings from France and Spain ($11- $18), 5 Whites (3 California, $12 - $15, a German and Italian, $16 ea) to a list of Reds (11 choices, mostly California, but also Oregon, Italy, Spain and France). The prices for bottles here are in many cases discounted from retail or wineries, in some cases 10 to 20%. So they keep prices reasonable and their margins low in many instances. Corkage is $15 only if you pick up a bottle under $30 at store. Over $30 at the store is free. If you are a member of their wine club, no corkage fee ! Service is excellent and knowledgeable, and teamwork to help customers is evident. Come on Wednesday or Saturday evening and ask for Amanda and she will give you some great wine tips. This is not a Wine Bar to party at, but a Wine Shop that you can sit and enjoy wine with friends, nibble on small palate cleansers and increase your range of knowledge into wines. They are open until 10, but often you can linger longer, they don't rush you. When they do floes, you can saunter over to the Wine Bar, near Pinkberry's in the middle of Santana Row. it is open till 11pm. PS - I love the art in here above the bottles. No food specials. *** Make sure you are at this location across from the movie theatre and NOT at the outdoor Vintage Wine Bar in the middle of the Santana Row strip! - They are the same company, but only this location offers happy hour. (We sorely made that mistake...) Expect to pay $20-25 a flight or $15-25 a glass. The flight selection is not as good at this location. For example, they don't have much of a white, sweet, or sparkling wine selection for flights like the other location. However, the customer service was very friendly. We asked a lot of questions about the wines and were given several tastes to help us make our selections. We ordered the brie with honey & black truffle & it was so YUM! Absolutely the best combination & very delicious with the wine. (To be picky, I think the portions here are smaller than the other location...) Unfortunately they forgot to bring our cheese & my boyfriend had to go up & remind them. For the inconvenience the server said she'd bring us more, which I thought was funny because they were much smaller cheese hunks than were given at the other place where no inconvenience occurred... + for the generous pours!
