Usually super empty so slow service isn't/shouldn't be an issue - for people who have complained in the past you probably were just being impatient tbh. We came to visit this pizzeria after seeing such a high score from Barstool Sports David Portnoy. We ordered 4 slices. Let's start with the pepperoni slice. Major flop. Thing wouldn't stand up on its own. And it was crazy greasy. I had grease all the way down my arm and into my watch band. The Terra Firma was recommended by the guy behind the counter. Its their "throw everything on it" pizza. Weird thing is, none of the veggies were cooked. At all. Not my style at all. I like my pizza toppings cooked. I also tried the veggie pizza. That also wasn't cooked. Not my style. It has gigantic pieces of broccoli that were completely uncooked on top. Just very odd. The pesto pizza was good. Plain. Tasted like bread with a little pesto and ricotta. All in all, I wouldn't come here again. For four slices to all be under par.. no thanks. Came here for lunch with a co-worker. The restaurant is actually pretty clean and hip - completely different from what I was expecting. You order at the counter, get a number and find a seat. I got their pepperoni and white pizza. The white one is the way to go. Down that think in chili flakes and oregano and you're good to go. Wish that had some garlic powder too! read more

The crust bake isn't 100% the same as the original location. I think that the dough is not stretched quite as thin here and the pizzas are topped a little bit heavier. The pizza sauce is an exercise in simplicity. It's just crushed tomatoes, salt and maybe a hint of garlic. The mozzarella cheese is offered straight up; no masquerading behind cheese blends to hide the taste of "discount" cheeses. The sum of these ingredients is a deceptively simple, damn fine NY-style slice. The white pie is to die for. It's just garlic oil, mozz and ricotta. I had the chopped salad for the first time and it was better than I anticipated. It's a very nice, almost composed, salad. I don't want to oversell it, but you won't be disappointed if you order it. The single serving was enough for two. Both of the red wine offerings, the Chianti and the Sangiovese, were both excellent and paired perfectly with the pizza and the price was reasonable. I can't quite figure out what overall vibe they're going after here. It is a bar, but it's not a sports bar as the TVs aren't large enough. It's not a record shop, a hi-fi store, or a 70s disco, but they play vinyl LPs over the loudspeakers. The seating is all on picnic benches (I wish the seats at tables were a little higher) and there's a single pool table. I guess when you put that all together you get a sort of a family-friendly (at least at lunch hour) tavern. This was a really disappointing experience, especially because I like the OG Vito's (on La Cienega) so much. That's absolutely a five-star place. This location isn't really a pizza place at all. You know how you can go into Lamonica's or Damore's or even the OG Vito's and get a slice? You can't do that here. Well, you can, but not really. They'll say you can, but you can't. Yeah. I was confused, too. It's New Year's Eve, so I called to make sure they're open and that they have slices. They said yes we're open and yes we have slices. Awesome. We got in the car and went there, parked on the street right in front of the place, and walked in. I walked up to the counter and asked for a taste of the Mayberry IPA that I saw on their menu online, one cheese slice, and one white slice. They didn't have the beer, and said the slices would take 45 minutes. ...What? I said that I specifically called to make sure they had slices because I'd figured it would be busy (although there was only one family at a table and two people at the bar) and wanted to make sure they hadn't run out. This is when it went full Twilight Zone. The other guy behind the counter said "We DO have slices." I replied that the first guy had Just said they didn't. They looked at each other, and the second guy said "We have slices." "All right. Can I have two?" "Not for 45 minutes." I'm just blown away. That is not having slices, for any reasonable pizza-place definition of "having slices" you could conceivably encounter. On the empty-handed drive home, I wondered if they thought I meant "Do you sell pizza by the slice?" when I called. But even then, the answer is "Yes, but there's a 45 minute wait." And that's...I mean, that's not "having slices." That's "can get slices." If all it takes to "have slices" at a place is "being able to get slices" at that place in 45 minutes, then I have slices at my apartment. Come on by. We have slices. It's very inviting and casual. High ceilings with open beams. Tables all around, including several large picnic-style one's for communal or large parties. Nice size room, seats 80-100. Retro vibe, industrial, hipster, a bit artsy; spinning vinyl records for the overhead music. The backdrop to the bar has a library feel. Wood shelves with sliders, carrying everything from booze to books to artifacts. I sat at the bar, made friends with the folks around me, and able to sit near the action of the servers and bartender. The menu is medium size, but perfect -- I like it. One type of pizza (New York) -- about 12 combos featured. You can get a whole pie (18", mighty big), or custom slices. They have salads (3), sandwiches (5), and pastas (3). They also have a full bar: classic cocktails, wine, draft beers, etc. Once I ordered my drink (an Old Fashioned, so good! [$11])...I was able to focus on ordering. Brian, the nice gent next to me (works at Solidarity, the Polish place down the street), was having a beautiful baked ziti with a beautiful sauce. I came in for pizza, but then had to have that, too. (My waistline thanks you, too!) 1. Baked Ziti -- Completely covered in mozzarella, with mounds of ricotta underneath and an extra sliced meatball I ordered, it was nothing short of amazing. The sauce is the real thing, like an Italian mama in the kitchen...so good!! [$11.95 + $3.95 meatball = 5.0 stars] 2. My wife and I grew up on New York City pizza. We've both been out here for decades and have tried every possible pizza option around. Nothing but Vito's comes even close to the great pizza we are used to. We have Vito's 1-2 nights per week. Their pizza is awesome, baked ziti with sausage is amazing, chopped salad is really good. I haven't had anything else from them but imagine it's all great. The vibe at the restaurant is wonderful for dining there. Wooden family style picnic tables, hip music spinning on the turntables and trendy workers making you feel like you're cool. Great family place and also great for adults to grab a beer and slice. So much to like. The welcoming wooden picnic benches; the hanging art that warms the eyes; the velvety vibe spinning from the turntables sharing the vintage likes of The Smiths, Pretenders, Police, et al; and the general spaciousness that lets you just take it all in and exhale. That's pretty much my first impression. I then stayed for a beer, perused the menu(s) and vowed to come back. Cut to the next day, lol, and I popped in to dig more deeply into their Happy Hour. The have both the Red and White slices on sale for $2 each; and beers are $4. Couldn't resist. All the beer here is in cans. Never had Peroni in a can, but it's good as ever. Then the second day, I tried a Pils from Colorado. Pretty good, maybe a bit pared back from European versions - but still good. Though you may add to the Red or the White slices of pizza for a nominal fee, I wanted to just try them both 'as is.' My take: Both are very good, with the White the more unique and fun. As long as you're good with Ricotta cheese, you gotta try their White. And the Red - is basically your standard pizza slice, but very good. Both are thin, NY style, but happily, not the grease-bombs of Ray's or many others. These slices had integrity, if that makes sense. And I, with my Chicago-style prejudice firmly in check, appreciated that. Service is friendly and low key. I liked the guys here. The bar is fun to sit at, though I'm glad I took a picnic table when I came for slices. Water is available and cheerfully delivered in a large, colorful and reusable glass carafe. The salads sound great. The meatballs looked tasty when I spied a young family with them. The whole pizzas do get a bit pricey, to be sure. Based on my observations, a few questions for the staff, and now my own experience eating a couple slices, however, the ingredients are of high quality. So, I think you get what you pay for. One big slice of their Terra Firma pizza with red sauce, pepperoni, sausage, onion, black olive, bell pepper, (I got without mushroom), and cheese. I thought this slice was just "ok," flavor-wise and texture. As you can tell from the picture, too much volume on the toppings. Also, the price was hefty for one slice ... $6.55. Previously I had a Margherita pizza from their Beverly Grove location, and it was amazing, so I'm giving this Vito's the benefit of the doubt. Came here a few weeks ago to have lunch with a friend. We sat at the bar. The bartender attitude was less than welcoming and he seemed to feel bothered.Their lunch crowd is bananas. I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza and a Cesar salad . My friend ordered spaghetti and meatballs. Yes it was packed but that happened after we had placed our order. My friend received his food before I. Whoa how does spaghetti come out before a Cesar salad??Literally my food didn't arrive until about 5-10 min later. My friend was just about done with his meal. No apologies or anything. The food was meh. If I would return ?Can't say I'm not sure if I would or not .People seem to love it as packed as it was. The tables also gives me a school cafeteria feel. Verdict- Solid pizza, solid beer with a great happy hour. Food- I got 2 slices of pizza and a beer during happy hour. I did have to ask to have my pizza heated up more because it was lukewarm. But the flavors were amazing and I would def get it again. Service- Server was amazing, did not get mad when I asked for him to warm it up. Also was knowledgeable about the beers on tap. The pizza is NY style thin with a more sweet, olive oil sauce vs basil or seasoned sauce with a good amount of cheese and fresh toppings. The atmosphere is open with metal chairs and wood tables. A selection of a few beers on tap & in can and sodas. No frills and simple. There's 90s rock playing and a nice breeze coming off Santa Monica Blvd. There was an arrest of a homeless woman and several police cars. At one point she had her face up against the glass window and facing everyone inside. I would say, this place is great for pizza to go. The "ambiance" isn't why you stop in. As originally a New Yorker, I am very picky about my pizza (and bagels). Luckily, I was able to find good pizza in Los Angeles. Vito's Pizza @vitospizzasm is a must stop in LA if you want good pizza. The place has a warm feel to it and they play records all day that are displayed behind the bar/counter. Also have TV's to watch sports. Perfect place to stop on your way down to the beach. They serve by the pie and slice, and have $2 slices during happy hour! We love getting the plain cheese and also white slices. They serve great beers on tap and also have a full liquor bar with us strange but awesome for a pizza spot. They have bar seating and picnic tables for seating and is a great place for any occasion. We have been there when there are kids birthday parties going on at a few picnic tables. It's a very nice place. They call it "New Jersey" style pizza. Great pizza. Probably the best pizza west of the 405. Shame they close so early. Why does this place beat all others? -- The crust. It's real pizza crust. Not that flat cracker you get most other places around here. The crust actually rises around the edge of the pizza. The crust is thin under the pizza, but chewy and bready around the edge. You know, it tastes like a proper pizza crust, rather than some sort of toasted tortilla. The kind where the crust has the right amount of crunch and softness, and has a flavor all it's own. And to me, one of the most important aspects that makes a great pizza, is the ratio of cheese to sauce. Too many places skimp on the sauce, so all you get is globs of cheese in every bite. Well my friends, as far as LA goes, this is the holy grail of NY style pizza shops. Vito's has the best of everything, and, the shop feels like a bar and has bench seating too, and lots of sports going on the TVs. Parking is not great but there is a CVS a few doors down that you can probably use. Added bonus... they refer to a whole pizza as a pie. As it should be. I had placed a take it order about 45 minutes before. The staff were very busy and so makes sense they need to add more staffing. Pizza here is pricey. $30-35 for a while pizza before tax and tip.
