Talked to a SALESMAN for an hour about everything we needed, top to bottom. I was very thorough and technical with my words. I repeated things to make sure the understood. The SALESMAN was smart and kept up. STRAIGHT UP HE LIED AND LIED ABOUT EVERYTHING. I ended the conversation asking, "So there will be no surprises or change in price right?" He said, "Yes that's right", I said "You sure?", "Yup! Now I'm going home to be with my two dogs blah blah blah"...When the TECHNICIAN got to my house everything changed and was surprising me all over the place. PRICES TRIPLED, CAMERA SYSTEMS NOT COMPATIBLE, ETC. ETC. I could write so much but I'm done wasting time. Bottom line, they got lucky, I cancelled all other appointments with security companies for that week, I wanted to save time and money, AND, I was so confident they were the best service based on my conversation with the salesman. I was forced into the contract because I had to submit proof of security services for my house to the insurance company by the next day. I was forced into setting up the vivint service or lose my insurance. It was too late to set up any other appointments. So, I got the base package, I'll pay off the equipment, then leave. The technicians were real with me at least. They were okay. But I will not stay with a company that has such dishonest people working for them and such crap equipment. EDIT: Since I can't reply to the Vivint reply, I'll add it here. I received multiple emails from your company since installation to review the various experiences, none of the links work. I emailed you that they didn't work. I have not received a reply. I'm really tired of all the extra work I've put in at this point...but I am somewhat considerate this salesman might be solely messing with your company so I want to help. If I provide the information to you so you can give me proof he was fired, I'll change my review. If not I will assume the salesman's tactics are that of the company. Either he is working rogue or he is following orders. You tell us... UPDATE: Still the worst company on the planet UPDATE: Not more than a few months in...the panel touchscreen stopped working. We entered the house with the alarm on and couldn't turn it off. Finally fixed it today..."software bug"... ALSO, during the initial set up they hooked up our existing motion sensor to the system. They said it was totally fine. Not, the motion sensor started going off all the time with the slightest movement so we tried to turn it off. Turning it off didn't work. We had to delete the sensor from the system altogether. So now when we go out of town it can't be easily set back up again. We have to call the company to reactivate the sensor...OR, buy the Vivint motion sensor. This crap the salesman gave me about Vivint being the "APPLE" of security systems is a load of crap. Apple is high quality equipment. Vivint is all cheap garbage with no versatility outside of it's own company. 3-13-2023: Still wasting more time with the company. I kept telling them to check the phone call I had with the salesman so they didn't have to trust my word for everything. They kept asking me to explain. I told them enough and I wasn't wasting MORRRRRE of my time. Finally got a response. Very slow response times for every email btw. Ridiculously slow. And here's why that matters. Apparently they only keep phone calls with the company for 30 days. 30 DAYS. They can only keep a 1 megabyte file for 30 days. A SECURITY COMPANY. So now they are unable to listen to the phone call because it's taken so damn long for them to check it out. I tried filling out all their review forms from the beginning but none of them worked, I emailed them immediately they didn't work, time time time time past, now we are at the point of no return thanks to them. That sleazy salesman can't be held accountable. Not that I'm fully blaming the salesman. At this point, I'm almost sure it's the company instituting the sleazy sales tactics and he is just being a good soldier. REMEMBER EVERYONE! This...is...a...SECURITY COMPANY. The panel would glitch and lock up so you couldn't turn it off. You'd be trying to talk to an agent through the alarm panel that is literally going off in your ears. This morning it went off for no reason couldn't be shut off, had to talk to someone on my cellphone where they told me to rip it off the wall and remove the battery. That is how easy it is to shut the system off. They gave an offer then took the offer back. This company is a scam. The equipment is bad. Get any other company. A year ago they offered a discount on the bad equipment or to cancel the system. When calling their support line, I often found myself speaking to representatives in other countries, who would spend hours trying to troubleshoot the issues remotely. Last week, I discovered that Vivint had blacklisted me because of these texts, leaving me without the support I needed for a system that was still not functioning correctly. *Predatory Financing & Deceptive Sales - Avoid at All Costs* I have been a customer for three years, and my biggest regret was letting their sales rep (Zack Stewart) through my front door. If you are in Utah, you know the door-to-door culture here, but Vivint is the absolute bottom of the barrel. The "Two-Loan" Swindle: They are highly unethical in how they structure their financing. They sold us a $5,000 system using a line of credit from Citizens, but they breezed over the fact it was actually two separate lines of credit--one with the bank and one with Vivint. I paid off the Citizens loan a year ago, assuming I was clear. I was wrong. The Cancellation Nightmare: When I tried to close my account yesterday, I was trapped in a 2-hour phone marathon with "customer service" reps who couldn't keep their stories straight. One told me I owed more money, another told me I was locked into a 60-month contract I never agreed to. In the end, I had to pay an unexpected $800 "ransom" just to get them out of my life. I still don't even know if it's closed since they said it can take 30 days to cancel. Probably more BS from useless customer service rep. Mediocre Equipment for Premium Prices: Don't be fooled by the high-tech pitch. For a system that cost me over $5,000 the quality is mediocre at best. Before this, we used Google Nest cameras from Home Depot--they worked better, cost thousands less, and didn't require a predatory contract. The Bottom Line: Vivint relies on high-pressure tactics and confusing debt structures to lock you in. It is a legalized scam designed to keep you paying for equipment that isn't worth the plastic it's made of. My 78 year old father installed this high end system from your Vivint - among its features are glass break detection and motion sensors, in addition to others. Those features, and the system as a whole, was a complete failure when the home was broken into. A neighbor saw that the front gate was open and thus investigated - that's how we found out. Several window panes were shattered, the burglar then walked across the living room and apparently smashed the Vivint panel. Worse yet, my dad was out of town with me so we had to deal with the police, neighbors, and company to board up the windows - remotely. Most ridiculous is that phone app showed that the system was still armed! There was NO notice from the company that this had happened. In fact, the alarm hadn't even been triggered - the technical support team had no record of it being triggered and no answers as to why not or what happened. The police were even perplexed. And then, as part of "resolutions," they send incompetent technicians who actually SOLD my dad more useless equipment - sneaky sales guy that did nothing to determine why the system failure occurred. And maybe the cherry on the whole thing, the likely reason I was given that the alarm wasn't triggered was that the system wasn't connected properly - and yet they wouldn't refund the montoring fees (they obviously weren't monitoring anything without the proper connection). This company is a disgrace. They took my money and installed a half assed working system. Cameras constantly go down. Control panel constantly goes down. Sensors repeatedly not communicating with panel. Customer service is worse than the sensors! At least the sensors sometimes worked, their customer service reps sure the hell don't. "Sorry for your troubles, we are going to upgrade your system to the newest version." No call back, no further communication since. Then I call to find out what is going on with the upgrade and there are no records of that being offered to me, "but we are running a special if you would like to take advantage of it". LOL what a joke. Like a moron I paid the system off and have kept the monthly service fee, at least I could find out if something happened on my property......And both cars broken into and robbed. I did get to see the video of it happen too! It was so crystal clear...The guy that broke in is a light skin blob wearing a blue blob and a black blob! WHAT QUALITY equipment. Tried to share the video to my phone and it actually through! WELL, the play button did but the video itself doesnt work. Fine, I'll share it with the wife... And the video is now gone! We have been Vivint customers for the past three years, and I cannot overstate the level of frustration we have experienced with their service. The most consistent issue has been the repeated disconnection of our cameras and other devices, leaving us without reliable security coverage. Despite paying for their protection plan, obtaining a technician visit requires an exhausting process, often spending over an hour and a half on the phone just to "qualify" for service. Their customer support is inconsistent at best, and on many occasions we have been kept on the line for hours without any meaningful resolution. Over the course of our contract, we have had to call Vivint between 30 and 50 times for the same recurring problems. This is not an exaggeration; it has been our reality. I have attached images showing the frequent disconnections that have become the theme of our experience. While some reviews online appear favorable, I can say with confidence that our experience more closely matches the critical reviews seen on platforms like Yelp. i researched reviews prior to making my awful decision of Vivint. Worst decision ever and I wish I thought to check Yelp first. This company is AWFUL. From sales to now technical support etc completely a joke. Sales I dealt with 5 different people and prior to making this god awful choice they would call me 2 times a day and text 2 times a day wanting to see if I chose them for security needs. That should have been enough for me to not pick them. Sales screwed up what I asked for so I called next day to tell them half the house is missing sensors and they said they'd mail it to me and for me to install or pay $50 for them to come out and do. Prank I thought but nope brand new product and customer not even 24hrs in and they want me to install my brand new security system or pay for them to when they messed up in the first place. Now 3 weeks in and still not installed. Last week my doorbell camera stopped working it's just solid static or solid black and picks up no detection. 2 calls to tech support who got me nowhere and submitted an IT ticket which would take 48hrs to hear something (so a solid wk wasted on nothing to help with my 2 wk old security system that's already broken) after pitching a fit and many calls they'll come next week to finish install and look at camera. This company is HORRIBLE! I've been with them since 2021 and have had many issues. My doorbell stopped working after 1 year, had to purchase a new one, decided to pay for the capability to rewind ($300 extra) and it worked maybe two times in the past 2 1/2 years. The equipment is bad, always buffering. Finally decided to cancel because I knew I had to have my equipment paid off first. Call to cancel on a Saturday, but they don't work Saturdays so called on Monday. On the phone for 2 hours to cancel, of course they offered $5 off a month to stay, after talking to 4 people they told me I owed $469 to cancel and I have to pay the next month because they have a 30 day cancellation policy. After a long debate, because it doesn't say anywhere in the contract what the early termination fee is, I paid the extortion fee. And get this, I asked for a confirmation email of my cancellation after I paid, they said I'll get it in 30 days!! WTF!? Avoid at all cost, the cost of this service is no where close to the value and I'd never recommend to anyone! PS I also let them know I recorded the whole call because I don't trust their unfair business practices. read more

Bought this poor excuses of a system a couple years ago.  Added cameras,...told to upgrade panel. Upgraded. Panel has acted like crap for most of the year. Freezes, delays, won't operate. Tech came out said panel could only support 3 cameras. Was told on original install, could support 6. Called Vivant, told could support 4. Tried multiple times to be rectified.  Unfortunately no one there seemes to know what they are doing. Told we would have to pay for the upgraded panel, although we already did. Was told we would need to hard wire the whole system, was told the system was old, was told new system would be fine of i signed a 5 year contract, was told now 3 year contract, was told needed new panel, but old cameras weren't compatible and would need to buy new cameras, even though mine are only about a year and half old. Worst customer service...could not get a call back when I was told....had to constantly call back multiple times to get a hold of someone only to be told I would be called back...and finally that they couldn't do anything unless I paid a bunch of money again to have a new system put in. read more

Horrible Experience in the end. Started fine but once service issues came up it was difficult to reach a human that spoke clear english to resolve. Took many times on the phone waiting on HOLD for HOURS each time just to reach someone likely in another country who's solution was the same as the last one asking me to simply reboot the system. I already did that. After several failed attempts and Numerous HOURS on HOLD to speak to a human I Cancelled. I had to pay a Large Additional Fee to Cancel just a Few Months ahead of the end of contract... but I was So Happy to be DONE with them....So I Thought!!! Then the bills kept coming! I dreaded sitting on hold for an hour or two just to reach a human....Again. No other way to reach them. No chat window, No way to email issue...Just Stuck on NEVER ENDING HOLD!!! Such a SCAM! I bet they would answer fast if I was signing up! Currently as I am typing this up I am at 1 HOUR and nearly 30 Minutes...and Counting on HOLD!!! Let me begin by saying if I could give this review 0, I would. I have had this service for over three years. I had paid for six cameras and two panels. It worked wonderfully for two months. Then I had to go thru some yahoo who has me unplug and plug etc for over an hour before they allowed me to make an appointment for service. They have no showed up numerous times. They come, try to fix it and it breaks again. I call to go thru another yahoo to unplug, plug etc until I am able to schedule another appt. I have upgraded cameras, added more sensors, window break sensors, etc. I had a safety issue and was trying to pull the camera feed to show the police.... I had nothing! Unbelievable! Today my appt was schedule for 8-10am- I got a text to confirm my appt and nobody showed up. I had to call again to make another appt. they got sold awhile back and forgot that it's the customer who makes your business. If you're looking for safety and a working security system, look elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately I went against my better judgment and signed up with this company. We were potentially moving, I thought an upgrade to our very old security system would be a selling point. The sales guy said we get a 30 day trail so if we move we can cancel if the new buyers don't want it. We are moving and now the people who answer the phones say they only do a 3 day trail period. Based on other comments, that seems to be the ploy, promise a 30 day trial to make the sale, but the people on the phones say only 3 days. Spend hours on hold between several different days of phone calls. No way I would have done it with only a 3 day trial period. read more
