The food is just ok, but the drinks are good, the staff is nice, and they have live music. "A splendid time is guaranteed for all."

Tried VK for the first time last night with a girlfriend and was not disappointed! The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the owner came over to talk to us, too. We ordered one of the brick oven pizzas, which was delicious and the perfect size; the chicken sandwich, jumbo wings with chili sauce (delicious!) and of course, a few of the house beers, which went perfectly with the food. The menu has something for everyone and the place was sparkling clean and modern. I'll be back for sure with the whole family! read more

The food was unremarkable. The menu is typical bar food. Being located in a historic tavern I was hoping for something better and more original than burgers and chicken sandwiches. Bar food is nothing new and you can get it just about everywhere and there are plenty of places in the area that serve a better burger. I was glad I went and checked it out. Really more like 2.5 stars. Pizza was good, "buttermilk chicken sandwich" was so dry it was like chewing on cardboard, roll was stale too. Thought the bar area seemed nice but we sat in a fairly boring room by the pizza oven. Service was fine, nice but not super attentive. Overall I may stop in for a beer and pizza at the bar but won't be back for dinner. read more

For such a new restaurant we were really impressed. The service was top notch and both of our drinks were incredible. I've never had a salt foam on a margarita before and now I don't think I can go back to a salt rim. We split the poutine and let me tell you the beef and gravy took me right back to my Grammy Betty's kitchen table for Sunday supper. It was a really happy food moment for me. The portion sizes are huge so we ended up splitting my sandwich and taking my husband's pizza home. Some of the proportions on the food need just a little tweaking. More cheese on the poutine, letting the cheese on the hot beef sandwich melt a little bit more were out major thoughts. Overall a great dinning experience. Hubby is looking forward to trying their tap beers when they get them and I will be happy to get another margarita. We will be back. read more

I wanted to like this new place bc it is close to where I live, but sadly I won't return. The inside has a strange layout and looks like it was just quickly thrown together. There could be a great charm and ambiance to this life, but there is none. The food is subpar. We had the spinach artichoke dip as a started. It seemed as though it was the kind you buy in supermarket snd microwave. Do not recommend it. I had French onion soup and my husband had pork sandwich. Both were just ok. For the prices and subpar food I recommend going down the road to mckenzies! Also, I think they charged us to use a credit card! They have some work to do. Very disappointing experience. We came in for happy hour to check out the new configuration and it was our first and last time. Their beers were a little too bitter, the room temperature was just above freezing and when we checked out we were charged regular prices instead of happy hour pricing. When asking our waitress for an explanation, she told us that 'happy hour pricing only applies in the bar area'. Really? This was not explained to us at any moment. The menu we were given in the dining area had happy hour pricing with no indication this did not apply to where we were sitting. When we called the manager on duty on our way home to give them an opportunity to rectify the situation, the only substantive comment was some vague notion of her 'talking to staff'. Let me dispense some free advice; deceiving your customers is not a success formula in hospitality. read more

Hit the spot. Good food and beer for the right price. I'm not a beer person but had to try their local brew. Haunted Haze was delish and had not one but two! Sweet chili wings were perfect. White portabella brick oven pizza was done perfectly. My friend and I were getting pretty full but also eager to try dessert. They are seasonal. We did the bread pudding and on a cold rainy night, it was like a warm dessert blanket. :) Server was just attentive enough. I also hear they have live music. Visited VK last Saturday for dinner, and really enjoyed the experience. I've never been to this building under previous ownership so I had zero expectations. The restaurant is in an old house and so the restaurant is set up in a way that has various large rooms. There seemed to be a large room to the right when you walk in that could accommodate a private party. There's a separate dining room to the left and then a bar and the main dining area in the back. I do agree that the makeover was a bit cold. Aside from aesthetics the food service and atmosphere was really nice. My husband had their beer which he enjoyed, and I had a glass of wine, but their mixed drinks looked good. The food was good too! We had the wings which were well done, and the spinach dip. Then I had a pizza and my husband had the cheesesteak. Both were great! They're definitely bringing life back to the area as they're about a mile from 100. Definitely will be back when I'm in the area. read more

Came across this restaurant purely by chance while staying at a nearby hotel. Menu looked good so we decided to try it. Staff was so welcoming! We were able to choose seating between a main dining room amd the live music area. After a long day of travel, we chose the dining room. Our 10 year old son enjoyed chicken tenders & fries, while we tried a variety of dishes including seafood pasta, hot roast beef sandwich, and the daily special of Swordfish and saffron rice. Sampled an orange Shandy beer and some crab nachos. Everyone enjoyed the food, drinks, and atmosphere. Our server was knowledgeable and very nice. Special occasions warrant a higher dinner bill than usual, but a large portion of the bill was the cost of wine. Food was appropriately priced. Highly recommend! read more

The beer was decent. I had the mac & cheese bites and a 12" cheese pizza. The boneless wings, calamari and pretzel were all good. The rest of the party had pasta. I liked the pizza, it was fair, but everyone thought the pasta was mediocre at best. My wife brought hers home to drain it and re-sauce it. For the price point it was extremely disappointing. 2 beers and 3 cocktails. $270 with tip. The service and staff were excellent. read more

So excited to have this new business right around the corner! The two beers I had they they brewed were solid. One was a hazy and the other a west coast IPA. All of the food we have tried has been high quality and super tasty. I recommend the French onion soup and any of the pizzas from their pizza oven! The ambiance was great. It's been a year my last visit, so decided to revisit to see how they have matured. The food is excellent quality albeit unadventurous. They are now serving their own beer which is also excellent. The extra charge for credit card persists and they loose a star for that. My only other real criticisms are the furniture which felt cheap, wobbly and uncomfortable. Also it doesn't have an old Inn feel - very clean and clinical. I may be back, but not often. read more

The appetizers were yummy, the pizzas were amazing and the dessert was to die for. The owners stopped by to say hello as well. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and personable. Went to a holiday lunch with my friends. Found out 2 horrible things with the bill after our meal. They charge an uptick for credit cards vs cash. First restaurant I have ever been to that charges for credit cards! I ordered a hamburger and the waitress asked me if I wanted anything on it. She said lettuce and tomato which I said was great. I was charged an extra 75 cents for lettuce and another 75 cents for a piece of tomato. I have told all of my friends and we will never go back. First time to VK since the Ship Inn restaurant vacated the space. I ordered a chicken sandwich which was dry and tough, actually not easy to cut. I should have told the waitress about the chicken but was with a colleague and didn't want to cause a fuss. Beer was OK, on par with Stolen Sun brewery. Service was fine & plenty of seating. Well, after a year of following the launch of this a brewery on social media, I finally had the opportunity to stop in. I live 30 minutes away and happened to be in the area so I made a point to try some of their beer. There was a handful of people in the bar early on a Friday afternoon. I spoke with the bartender who was very engaging and curious what brought me in. I shared that I had been waiting to visit and where I was from. I sampled a few beers and decided to purchase a 4-pack of the Grand Opening IPA (they didn't have anything else available) and two growlers. I never thought to ask the cost for each growler. I've been buying beer long enough that the average price is $4-8 for a new empty growler. Without hesitation, I handed my credit card to the bartender to check out. He gave me my receipt for $93!!! I questioned the total and he explained that the growlers were $25 each and $15 each to fill!! Absolutely unbelievable and unacceptable!! I'd rather pay to spend a weekend in Vermont and drink superior beer at a lesser cost. What a shame!! read more

I think these guys are off to a great start. I don't see much "tweaking" happening. They obviously planned well and know what they're doing. The staff is friendly and attentive. I've had the chicken sandwich, delicious! Hot roast pork and cheesesteak are also very good. The seeded roll is pretty awesome, it's just too big for its contents. So far the West Coast IPA is my favorite. The Hazy IPA seemed a lilttle young but should improve with time. Definitely looking forward to more beers on tap! Overall this is a great addition to the neighborhood. read more
