Amazing place to get hotpot! Great service, big and clean spot. Lots of options. The meat quality was great. Great food for the price, I highly recommend and would come back!

BBQ and hotpot are best enjoyed in a cold and rainy weather. My friends suggested to try Volcano. The restaurant is spacious and clean. The menu is either hot pot or hot pot and BBQ. They have a good selection of spicy and non-spicy soup bases. I got the tomato soup, and it was ok. The cooked food selection was small. There was a good selection of spicy and non-spicy marinated meats for BBQ, but the quality was so-so. The hotpot food selection was ok, but nothing stands out.

I've been coming to Volcano since they first opened in Sugar Land. The restaurant is spacious and organized, and the servers are always nice and attentive. There's always a wide amount of food selections available. Everything is buffet style, which includes the meats, seafoods, noodles, vegetables, and sauces/condiments. There's also a wide variety of broths to choose from, which include pork bone broth, tomato broths, different types of spicy/pepper-based broths, herbal broth, and mushroom broth. My broth of choice is always the mushroom broth, and you can customize the broths even more with the sauces/condiments available. Although the KBBQ selection is not as wide as the hot pot options, for only $4 more to the adult price of the hot pot, what they have available is delicious. I'm usually not a fan of both hot pot and KBBQ at the same time, but Volcano is definitely one of favorite places for both options together. It's super nice to have a good AYCE hot pot option in Sugar Land without having to go all the way to Chinatown area, so I highly recommend if you're craving hot pot in Sugar Land.

My favorite Korean bbq restaurant. The store was clean and had many seats. I went with both hot pot and bbq option, which was around $34 per person. You should try their Galbi. The meat had good thickness and well seasoned. They also have the line for bbq meats. Personally, I don't like their hot pot. They have many soup options, and they go well with the meat. However, their toppings are not special. I would say it was mediocre. A big "yay" for their staffs, super friendly and attentive. I will comeback but only for grill menu.

I've come here probably 5 times already whenever I have friends in the area. This place is so good and has so many options! The first time, I came here with 2 friends for a double date and we all wanted KBBQ and hot pot. It was quite overwhelming to find all the goodies on their buffet bar for the KBBQ and hot pot but overall it was good. They have so many options of meat, seafood, veggies and noodles for hot pot and their sauce bar is very well stocked with whatever sauce you personally enjoy with your hot pot or KBBQ! Service is good, they come by frequently to try and clear out empty plates and make room on the table for more plates. We really like ordering the short ribs from the kitchen, they're super flavorful and already cooked so while you're waiting for the meat to cook on the grill or pot to get boiling you can enjoy the cooked short ribs! They have also an AYCE ice cream and some fruit options as well. Price wise it's fairly reasonable for what you're getting. If you want only the hot pot then the entire table has to order the same to avoid any double dipping so go with a group of people who agree on everything LOL

don't grab too much or you will be charged!

Let's set the expectations first before you visit this place: 1) Everyone at your table has to order the same set up. Meaning if one of you wants hot pot and the other just wants barbecue... Guess what..both of you are paying the barbecue and hot pot price. There is no separation. this was a dealbreaker for me. 2) This is not a buffet in the sense that there are items for you to just put on your plate and sit down and eat. It's more of a buffet of raw things you can choose to put in your boiling pot. Sure there are a couple of fried things that are cooked like eggrolls and noodles and fried rice... But that's about it so if you don't like hot pot, and you are not going there for barbecue because you believe you can grab other items in the buffet... It's not that. 3) If you found out that you now are at the $33 price (hot pot & bbq), come very hungry or make sure you have eaters at the table otherwise it is a huge waste of food or money, depending on how you look at it. 4) If you are super hungry, know that you are cooking your own food so you are basing your experience on whether or not you can add seasoning and meat correctly and waiting about five minutes for your food to cook or even longer to grill. With that said, I thought the soup bases were great. I got the Tom Yum base and my mom chose the pork broth. Of course, going to a hot pot during the summer in Houston is not a great idea but because I wanted to try it... The desserts are just there. They pretty much align with your typical Chinese buffet desserts. The ambiance of the restaurant is quite a neat set up. I think I would probably enjoy this more during the winter time to tell you the truth, but I don't know even for that price. I'd rather just go to my local Pho place and have it already made for me. I would definitely give it five stars for customer service though because they are constantly coming to your table for drink refills or anything you need. I honestly would not go back unless it was a group event... but I could see this being a place for soup lovers.

Decent place for hot pot and BBQ. These are one of the few buffets where you can eat until you hurt, and not feel as guilty afterwards because they offer so many veggies and protein options. I stuffed myself with beef, lamb, pork, mussel, shrimp, meatballs, mushrooms, and assortment of greens. $36.80 after tax and before tip per person if you choose the hot pot and BBQ option (price as of Oct 2024). If you only do hot pot, then it's about $4 less. Service is sufficient. Not over the top but not bad either. Plenty of tables inside. Place seemed clean and well maintained. No complaints! Another hot pot place to try is Happy Lamb and Shabu En.

It was our first time here and it gets a 5 star because the variety They had my favorites for hot pot which is water spinach, beef stomach, fish balls ,craw fish, pork slices and beef slices , quail eggs, and crab meat. They had a make your own sauce bar which we did go make after some after taking this photo. They had pork blood and crab too and that you don't see often at a hot pot station. They had shin ramen as a option which V loved. For our broth we got the Sichuan style and pork bone broth. You can also do kbbq too but we just wanted to try hot pot this time around. The music was great and the drinks were delicious aka I got a bottle of soju to sip on. services was great as every time we cleared a plate they would pick it up from the table so we had more room on the table , which helps a lot as we went back and forth to add more to the hot pot. You can also get more broth , if the broth starts running out but as usually there is a time limit at their types of places. We're definitely going again , if we're in houston.

    Seafood or hot pot

Volcano Hot Pot in Sugar was a hit with me. I've never been much of a Hot Pot fan but always loved good Korean BBQ. However, this restaurant does both very well. The buffet style selection of seafood, chicken, and beef allows you to get as creative as you want with your meal. The service was fine once we got past the initial questions of the ingredients of the soup options. Volcano had very tender and flavorful beef which was perfectly seasoned. Their seafood was very fresh but needed more seasoning for the grill if you want to skip the hot pot. Remember this is a buffet but plan to eat what you take since there is a charge for wasted food. The restaurant is spacious with a moderate noise level and no wait on a late Wednesday evening. I look forward to my visit with plans to enjoy the bar.

Food is delicious and fresh with a huge variety. All have to order the same at the table. It is fun and the staff are great. The only reason I Gave 3 stars instead of is that therr is no option for those who eat very little. I would love to go there again but it would not be worth it for me or my son. He is 17 but is autistic, has ARFID and eats very small amounts. He is too old and not allowed to pay for the child's meal. I went because at lunch it was supposed to be cheaper but I messed up and went on a Friday and lunch was same as dinner price. So I paid 35.99 for 3 bites of rice, an eggroll, and a piece of meat I convinced him to eat that I cooked on the grill. I made one small trip to the buffet area.. 1 plate that wasn't full and 2 had 2 of the very thinly sliced premium meats they offer. I am a bariatric patient and unable tp eat more than 1 to 2 cups of food. That being said...it is a great place for the experience and trying new things. Just don't go if you do not eat much unless you want to just pay for the experience. Often, going with a group is very difficult to places that can not or will not accomodate smaller appetites. Big NOTE here: the whole table has to order the same food level! One person can't get just bbq or just hot pot at a table.. the whole table has to order the same. I hope that maybe as more and more people are changing their diets to smaller portions that places like this can put something in place to help. It should be possible for any place to accomodate for this. Our total 100.50 (including tip) for 2 people. There is also an off putting sign hung at each table stating that ALL uneaten food would be charged at ... I think it said 13.99 a pound. Ambiance was great but these things like the sign made me nervous and uncomfortable.

Came here last night while visiting family in Texas. Reminded me a lot of Qpot in the Bay Area (both offer AYCE hot pot + kbbq). We picked hot pot only. What's fairly outstanding about this place is the selection. The meat is a bit more limited on the hot pot side (lamb, chicken, pork, and beef), but that's made up for by the seafood selection. It's buffet style, so you go up to get your own materials (which saves a lot of time of having to wait for items to get delivered). Soup base selection was good, and so were the sauces. The restaurant is also quite large, with good spacing between tables. Overall, reasonable price, great selection, and good service. It's a pretty typical AYCE hot pot restaurant, but in a good way. Will go ahead the next time I'm in town.

New AYCE hotpot + Korean BBQ that opened up in Sugarland, we came here for the first time and it was a good experience overall. Most of the BBQ meats were marinated, and the hotpot meats were in a separate freezer. Only thing that I wasn't used to seeing is they put a sheet of paper on the grill and you're supposed to grill the meats on top of this. The flavor came out slightly different than what I'm used to The restaurant itself was pretty spacious, they also have claw machines in the front where you can win plushies Service was pretty good, they changed out our grill a few times and refilled our waters. Would come back!

No matter where we go and try the brisket, Rudy's still has the best brisket moist in our opinion. This was our favorite go to for the chili stew and brisket moist. However, lately we felt this place has been off. The brisket moist does not taste the way it used to anymore. The rub doesn't even look the same. We thought it was an ordering mistake when we ordered it through door dash the last two times. The brisket those two times had no bark like it was supposed to be smoked for a long time. It was not moist, soft, or tender like it used to be. It was horrible. The fat on it was chewy and not tender or melt in your mouth soft at all. There was no flavor on it and they had cut off all the bark where the flavor was. They left none of it on! It tasted horrible. It made us not want to order online anymore. Today our family was craving Rudy's. To avoid online ordering error, I had my sons pick it up in person to make sure there was no confusion about us wanting brisket moist with some thin bark seasoning from the dry rub with the even amount of fat and meat to make the brisket be soft and tender. Sadly we did not get that. It does not and did not taste moist or had the bark seasoning we loved about it. It tastes like brisket lean! It does not taste right! Even the rub on the brisket looks off. I think this will be our last time coming here. The last two times we ordered online, I didn't know how to report to DoorDash that the brisket moist the last two times was off. Since we went in person we know it was not an error. The brisket definitely had changed its recipe and how they cook it. Sadly this will be our last time to go here. Even the pork ribs don't taste as soft and tender as it used to. It's chewy also. We spent allot of money every time. We will be looking for a new place for our brisket moist. Sad to see a place that has such a great run go down on quality.

I finally went with a few friends and decided to sample a little bit of everything: 1/2 lb of pork ribs, 1/2 lb of brisket, a sausage link, and a side of potato salad. I was pleasantly surprised by the price--BBQ can get pricey fast, but my whole plate was between $20-$30, which felt super reasonable for the amount of food. The pork ribs were juicy with just the right amount of fat--exactly how I like them. The brisket was flavorful, but I did find it a bit on the dry side. The sausage link, though, was the real winner for me: peppery, juicy, and full of that smoky flavor I love. Everything had solid flavor on its own--even without the BBQ sauce, which I appreciated since I usually prefer a dry rub, and they nailed that. Now, the potato salad was...interesting. It wasn't bad, just not what I expected. It was basically mashed potatoes that tasted like potato salad. I was hoping for a more traditional, chunky, homestyle version, but it was still decent in its own way. The vibe was laid-back, and the service matched that energy. There were only two employees working, but both were friendly and moved at a good pace. It was never packed, but there was a steady flow of families dining in quickly and folks picking up to-go orders. I'll admit that the dine-in experience might not have encountered the hiccups we ran into for takeout so we should give leeway for that. The restaurant has a casual vibe to it and the staff is energetic and friendly. We ordered a 3 meat plate with brisket, baby back ribs, and mild sausage. For the sides, we had mac n cheese and coleslaw. We also ordered a peach cobbler with ice cream for dessert. While waiting for our order, we were offered drinks and their dangerously yeasty dinner rolls. Here's our verdict on the food. Brisket - the slices from the point were nice and tender but the slices from the flat were a little dry. Could use a little more seasoning. The people who got the flat raged this brisket lower than the other 2 places and the people who got the point rated it 2nd place. Baby back ribs - these were good Sausage - wasn't my favorite since it had the consistency of a hot dog and not a lot of flavor other than salt Mac n cheese - very unforgettable and bland Coleslaw - too sweet Peach cobbler - good but my sister thought there was too much crust Overall, it's an ok BBQ place with some hits and misses and good for a casual night out with the family.
